It’s been a day packed full of exciting Toy Story Land news! Earlier today, we brought you a video of what it will be like to ride Slinky Dog Dash. Now, we are excited to show you what will be waiting for you at the end of the ride – Wheezy! And not just Wheezy but Wheezy singing “You Got a Friend in Me!” Wheezy will be assisted by Mike (the tape recorder), who’s provided him with a microphone, and Mr. Spell, who “texts” funny commentary.

If you remember, Wheezy made his debut at the beginning of the “Toy Story 2” movie. When Woody’s arm was broken he was put up on a high shelf right next to Wheezy. Wheezy was suffering from a broken squeaker and about to be placed in a garage sale. That is until Woody attempts to rescue him and is snapped up himself by Al of Al’s Toy Barn! And you know how the rest of the story goes…. until Wheezy shows up at the end with a new working squeaker signing “You Got a Friend in Me!”

When taking a ride on Slinky Dog Coaster, expect to see a collection of Andy’s toys, including a Rubik’s cube, a canister for a game called Pick-Up Snakes, toy wooden blocks spelling out F-U-N, and toy packages for an RC Car and a triangle puzzle game, all framed by a towering book, “Mr. Pricklepants Songs for Singing” surrounding Wheezy, Mike, and Mr. Spell!

And, here’s a piece of trivia for you: Wheezy on Slinky Dog Dash makes Disney history by becoming the first and only Wheezy Audio-Animatronics figure in a Disney theme park!

Green Army Man Drum Corps in Toy Story Land

Disney is all about entertaining. When you aren’t on a ride or seeing a show, there are all kinds of fun things to do and see simply walking around the parks. And Toy Story Land will be no different!

The Green Army Man Drum corps will be making their rounds in the land. The band will march through the land several times a day and stop to play “Sarge Says” and other games with a larger-than-life Pixar ball and crayons. Guests can also participate to see if they have what it takes to become an official recruit in Andy’s Backyard!

A New Offer of a Disney Wage Increase to $15 by 2021 Has Been Presented

Disney Wage Increase

After nearly a year of negotiations, it looks like a Disney wage increase could be closer to happening!

38,000 union members have been demanding a minimum wage increase to $15/hour and Disney is now saying that they are willing to meet that demand by 2021. It’s not a done deal yet though because Disney is also wanting to re-negotiate other aspects of workers’ contracts, including overtime pay.

Union members spent time until late Tuesday meeting about the new offer.”The company has given us a proposal. They’ve given an offer today,” said Angie McKinnon of Unite Here Local 737. “Our bargaining committee is reviewing it. At this time, we have no further comment.”

“It’s on the table, but we have to give certain things back to the company to enable us to get that money,” said Bob Harris, a Walt Disney World bus driver.

Disney has confirmed their offer of $15/hour by 2021 as well as a re-negotiation of other contract terms.

Union demonstrations have been happening since last summer and in December of 2017 union members rejected Disney’s offer of an annual 3 percent raise (stating of minimum of $0.50/hour) and a $200 bonus.

Even thought the offer by Disney is more in line with what the workers were hoping for, they haven’t signed on the dotted line just yet.

“The tax breaks are permanent. The company now knows the tax structure, the tax liability they have into the future,” said Shawn Britton of Teamsters Local 385. “There’s no reason why they cannot offer a really good raise.”

At this point no dates have been set to bring the unions and Disney back to the table together. It is also not known at this point if the unions will bring this current offer to their members for a vote.

At present time, Disney is looking to hire 3,500 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees. There are a number of upcoming careers fairs in the next fews weeks. A bonus of up to $3,000 is being offered to eligible candidates.

Super exciting Toy Story Land news has been coming out of Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World all morning! In addition to our first look at the Alien Swirling Saucers ride, we are getting out first look at what Guests will experience when they take a ride on Slinky Dog Dash. Check it out for yourself:

Slinky Dog Dash was designed to be a family-friendly roller coaster. It is designed as if Andy built it in his own backyard using his Mega Coaster Play Kit, and some other favorite toys including Jessie and Rex. The ride, of course, is made to resemble Slinky Dog from the popular “Toy Story” movies. And per the video, it promises to send Guests dipping, dodging, and dashing around turns.

Were you watching “Good Morning America” this morning? If so then you saw some great first looks at Toy Story Land and some of the great Toy Story Land Merchandise that will be available exclusively in the land when it opens at Hollywood Studios on June 30. In case you missed the show we have some of the exciting items to share with you!

First Look At New Toy Story Land Merchandise

There are two new headbands that will be available for purchase. The first one is (pictured at the top) is a plush Slinky Dog headband, which is adorable! The next one is inspired by the green aliens. I love this second one as the eyes can move, which is a very cute detail.

Next, the Light-Up Slinky Dog is a fun toy and fashion statement. We saw him being worn around the neck of Brad Schoeneberg the Disney Director of Franchise Product Development. The Light-Up Slinky Dog has playful light-up rings which I’m sure will be great when touring the parks in the evening.

Last but definitely not least, Disney is introducing “I Played There” commemorative T-shirts for kids to make all of their friends jealous when they return home.

First Look at Alien Swirling Saucers Inside Toy Story Land

Big News! We now have images of the brand new Alien Swirling Saucers attraction inside Toy Story Land when it opens on June 30th.

First Look at Alien Swirling Saucers Inside Toy Story Land

At Alien Swirling Saucers, which is an attraction that’s been designed to look like you are inside a play set that Andy won at Pizza Planet, the Aliens have powered up their flying saucers to take you on a spin through space. Climb into a toy rocket and hang on as aliens lead the way on an interstellar romp set to an out-of-this-world beat. If you’re really lucky, you just might get “chosen” by the claw.

The electronic space music soundtrack includes eight songs that may sound familiar but will be heard in a quirky way you’ve never experienced before. Guests will also see pizza details throughout the attraction, including pizza columns, a pizza space station, and the Planet Pepperonia.

First Look at Alien Swirling Saucers Inside Toy Story Land

This attraction seems to be a re-theming of Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree located in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. We can also expect that the “alien saucers” will travel in overlapping figure eight patterns along interlocking turntables. The vehicles are transferred from one revolving turntable to another, creating near miss moments. Another fun element is that Mater’s trailer swings freely from side to side as you go through the turntables. So hopefully we will see this again with the saucers.

Popular Animal Kingdom Attraction to Close for Brief Refurbishment

If you have plans to be at Animal Kingdom next Wednesday, May 9, I have some news to pass along. The Harambe Theater where the Festival of the Lion King show is performed will be closed for a one-day refurbishment. This will cause the Festival of the Lion King show to go dark for one day.

If you planned to spend your day in Animal Kingdom on May 9 and have already selected a FastPasses for the Festival of the Lion King show, make sure to go into your My Disney Experience account and select a new one.

Filming Starts on Disney's Latest Live Action Film, The One and Only Ivan

Across the pond at London’s Pinewood Studios, production has started on “The One and Only Ivan.” Disney’s latest film will be a live-action/CG hybrid adaptation of the much-loved children’s book by Katherine Applegate. The project is being directed by Thea Sharrock and will feature Bryan Cranston, Ramon Rodriguez, Arianna Greenblatt, Indira Varma and Eleanor Matsuura.

The film will also feature the vocal talents of Angelina Jolie, Sam Rockwell, Brooklynn Prince, Helen Mirren and Dany Devito.

“The One and Only Ivan” tells the true story of uniquely-talented gorilla and other animals who share a communal habitat at a suburban shopping mall. It’s an unforgettable tale about the beauty of friendship, the power of visualization and the significance of the place we call home. The book has a huge following and has topped the New York Times bestseller list. Applegate has also won several awards for Ivan including the Newberry Medal in Children’s literature for 2013.

Entertainment At Magic Kingdom To Be Impacted By Refurbishment

Magic Kingdom’s daily entertainment schedule will be impacted this month due to concrete work. On May 3rd, 7th, 14th, 17th and 21st, the 11:00 am Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It! Street Party will be cancelled but you can still catch the 12:30 pm and the 5:30 pm parties. This very popular party has guests dancing on Main Street USA with their favorite Disney and Pixar characters. Also on these dates, the Trolley Show will not have their Main Street Trolley but will instead use the Main Street Ranch Wagon. The daily Trolley Show welcomes Magic Kingdom guests to the most magical place on Earth with a fun and upbeat performance.

There are other entertainment offerings that will not be affected by the concrete work such as Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire on the Castle stage, Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade and Happily Ever After.
