Talking Mickey Mouse At Magic Kingdom Now Resting His Voice

Talking Mickey Mouse At Magic Kingdom Now Resting His Voice

Rumors have been running for a while about Talking Mickey Mouse at Disney’s Magic Kingdom being silenced. It was confirmed today by cast members that Mickey Mouse no longer speaks to guests. While you can still meet the main mouse at the Town Square Theater, he won’t be able to talk as he is resting his voice for his show appearances.

There are numerous reasons for the change, one possibly being a ‘cost saving’ measure. Another thought was that it was confusing for some of Disney’s smaller guests to have Mickey Mouse talk when none of his pals could. The silent meet and greets are more consistent with the rest of the characters.

Whatever the reason, talking Mickey Mouse will certainly be missed by many. Cast members would not directly confirm if the change was permanent.

Did you have a chance to meet Talking Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom?

It Was An Extra Special ‘Star Wars Day’ at this Children’s Hospital

UCSF Children's Hospital

UCSF Children's Hospital

Children at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland, California were treated to an extra special visit a few weeks ago. On May 4, also known as “Star Wars Day,” LucasFilm and Starlight Children’s Foundation joined forces to host a special “Star Wars” Experience for patients and their families at the hospital.

Alden Ehrenreich, star of the upcoming film “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” joined R2-D2, Darth Vader and other favorite characters for special activities that “virtually” transported patients to a galaxy far, far away, providing moments of comfort and joy in ways that only Disney can.

The visit was part of Disney’s new “Team of Heroes” philanthropy and outreach program focused on Children’s Hospitals. In March, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced a five-year plan to dedicate more than $100 million in company resources to reinvent the patient and family experience in children’s hospitals across the globe. This plan continues the Company’s rich legacy of supporting children’s hospitals, which dates back to Walt Disney.

Looks like a great time was had by all at this magical Star Wars event!

Stitch is Gone from World of Disney Store in Disney Springs

Stitch is Gone from World of Disney Store in Disney Springs

It’s a sad day. Stitch has officially been removed from the World of Disney store located in Disney Springs at Disney World. It seems as though Disney is trying to give the store a more modern feel. Once interior redesign work is completed, Guests will discover the products they love from Disney Parks in a dynamic and distinctly Disney retail environment.

Guests can continue shopping in the World of Disney stores during construction as work will be completed in phases throughout 2018.

Get more info here on the construction.

To compensate for the construction, Guests can also visit Ever After Jewelry Co. or The Disney Corner Store both of which are carrying select merchandise while sections of World of Disney are closed.

The Disney Corner Store is a 2-story store filled with toys, dolls, apparel, and accessories for princess’ of all ages! The Corner Store is only open for a limited time so make sure to make plans to visit during your next outing to Disney Springs.

Ever After Jewely Co. makes you feel as though you’re in a fairytale as you float through the ultimate destination for Disney-themed baubles, handbags and more.

It Looks Like a New Japan Pavilion Restaurant is Coming to Epcot’s World Showcase

new Japan Pavilion restaurant

I love Epcot!  It might be my favorite park in Walt Disney World. And one of my favorite parts of Epcot – all of the amazing eateries that you can find around World Showcase.  And it looks like a new Japan Pavilion restaurant is heading to Epcot’s World Showcase

Reported by Disney Parks Blog, an all-new table service restaurant will be coming to the Japan Pavilion in World Showcase.  This new eatery will offer guests a signature dining experience inspired by the natural beauty of Japan. The setting will draw from both nature and takumi, which means “artisan” in Japanese, and the relationship between Japanese craftsmanship and the natural world will be evident throughout the space.

As with the current restaurants location in the Japan Pavilion, Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining, this new restaurant will be operated by Mitsukoshi USA. Mitsukoshi USA also operates the merchandise and kiosks in the Japan Pavilion.

Once completed, the restaurant will add to the rich tapestry of authentic cultural experiences available to guests in World Showcase.

There is not date for this new restaurant will open, or what it will be called.  But while we wait, there are other amazing places to eat around World Showcase!  Some of my favorites are Biergarten in the Germany Pavilion, where it’s an Octoberfest celebration all year long at this amazing buffet, complete with authentic entertainment and Restaurant Marrakesh, where Savory cuisine and sprightly belly dancing transport you to the heart of Morocco!

Or check out the Signature Dining Experiences currently available at World Showcase.  Monsieur Paul will provide you with an evening to remember with classic French cuisine at this gourmet restaurant located in the France Pavilion.  In the Canada Pavilion you’ll find Le Cellier Steakhouse where you can head into the cozy cellar of a Canadian château for exquisite steaks and seafood specialties!

And don’t forget about the authentic food available at the Quick Services restaurants located around World Showcase either!  It’s a great way to stop for a delicious meal without taking up a ton of park time (or breaking the bank!).

Are you excited to see another Signature Dining experience open at Epcot?  Will you be trying the new restaurant opening in the Japan Pavilion?  Make sure you keep checking Chip and Co for more information on when we can expect this new restaurant to open, what it will be called and what will be on the menu!

Infinity Gauntlet Comic Hinting to More Avengers Movies to Come

Infinity Gauntlet Comic Hinting to More Avengers Movies to Come

Could the Infinity Gauntlet Comic lead us to believe more Avengers movies may already be in the works?  The Hollywood Reporter has an interesting take on the future of the Avengers with lots of spoilers and plots twists found in the original Marvel Infinity Gauntlet comic.  Does this mean that we can expect more from the Avengers after the 2019 Avengers 4 movie is released?  We know that Captain America himself Chris Evans hasn’t renewed his contract and will not be featured, but does that mean Cap is gone for good? Will Doctor Strange find some cosmic way to use the Infinity Stones to bring back our beloved Avengers and friends?  What part will Captain Marvel have in this? Nick Fury couldn’t have made that call in the after credit scene for nothing.

Infinity Gauntlet Comic Hinting to More Avengers Movies to Come

Take a look at the video below from the Hollywood Reporter and beware of some pretty huge spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War yet! If you are one of the few who haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for?

Discrimination Lawsuit Against Disney Dropped

Discrimination Lawsuit Against Disney Dropped

Years of court battles have finally come to a close after a lawsuit, filed by former Disney employees, was dropped. The group of former IT employees filed a discrimination case against Disney, claiming that they were unlawfully fired and replaced with overseas employees. They also claimed that they had to train the new employees, who were in the US on work visas, for 90 days prior to their firing.

The lawsuit was dropped after the lawyer for the former employees, Sara Blackwell, acknowledged that the claim was a legal loophole and could not be won. “We lost because what Disney did was legal,” she said. Blackwell filed numerous lawsuits against Disney since 2014 regarding the discrimination of the former employees but lost all of them.

The program in question is the H-1B Program, allowing non immigrant aliens to to come to the US and work in specialty occupations. According to the United States Department of Labor, “A specialty occupation is one that requires the application of a body of highly specialized knowledge and the attainment of at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. The intent of the H-1B provisions is to help employers who cannot otherwise obtain needed business skills and abilities from the U.S. workforce by authorizing the temporary employment of qualified individuals who are not otherwise authorized to work in the United States.” Companies all across the US are using this program to help staff their businesses.

Sara Blackwell and the former employees are continuing their fight by demanding reform of the H-1B Visa program.

Disney responded to the dropped lawsuit by stating, “As we have said all along, these lawsuits were completely baseless.”

Castaway Club Members Can Book Disney Cruise Line Itineraries Online During Next Release

Castaway Club Members Can Book Disney Cruise Line Itineraries Online During Next Release

Late 2019 itineraries for Disney Cruise Line will be released very soon and there is some exciting news for Castaway Club members. Starting with the next itinerary release, Castaway Club members will now be able to book their magical Disney cruise online on opening day, instead of having to call Disney Cruise Line. They will still be able to book days ahead of the general public as has been the case in the past.

Booking dates will depend on your Castaway Club membership level. Platinum members will be able to book online or over the phone on day 1 of the release, Gold members can book on day 2, Silver members on day 3 and first time Disney cruisers can book those amazing itineraries and sail dates on day 4 for late 2019 sailings.

Members with a placeholder from a previous cruise will still need to call in if they’d like to apply that future cruise credit.

While this new online process is much easier than waiting on hold to book your next cruise on opening day, it is even easier to let an experienced, knowledgeable MickeyTravels agent handle it all for you, at no extra cost. You’ll be able to sit back and relax while your personal agent handles all of the details from the initial booking to specialty dining and shore excursions.

What has been your favorite itinerary with Disney Cruise Line?
