Unlock Feature Via the My Disney Experience App Now Expanded to More Disney Resorts

The My Disney Experience App offers a one-stop location on your mobile device to check park wait times, see maps, book FastPass+, book dining, find characters and so much more. A new unlock feature now allows guests to open their resort room door and common area resort doors directly with the app. Guests staying at Wilderness Lodge, Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Wilderness Lodge, and Boulder Ridge Villas at Wilderness Lodge already have this unlock feature available for their stay. There are now additional Disney resorts that have this new unlock feature via the My Disney Experience app.

Where It Works
You will be able to unlock the door to your room and other common areas that require a MagicBand or Key to the World Card at your Disney Resort hotel. Common areas may include pools, arcades, fitness centers, elevators and Club Level lounges.

Currently, this feature is only available at these Disney Resort hotels:

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
Disney’s Beach Club Resort
Disney’s Beach Club Villas
Disney’s Yacht Club
Disney’s BoardWalk Villas
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

The unlock door feature may be available at additional Disney Resort hotels in the coming months.

How to Unlock Your Door
Follow these simple steps to unlock the door at your Disney Resort hotel:

If Bluetooth on your mobile device is turned off, turn it on.
Download and open the My Disney Experience app.
Link your Disney Resort hotel reservation to your Disney account.
View your Disney Resort hotel reservation.
Select “Unlock Door”.
Agree to use your device to unlock your door.
Hold your mobile device against the door lock.

If you wish to no longer use your phone to unlock your door, please visit the Front Desk of your Disney Resort hotel.

Mark Hamill Becomes a Stormtrooper at Comic-Con

Luke Skywalker dressed up as a Stormtrooper? That seems very familiar! Mark Hamill recently went undercover as a Stormtrooper, along with other Star Wars fans, at San Diego’s Comic-Con this past weekend.

He talked about the antic on his Instagram:

“Don’t arouse any suspicions it’s me because I’m too short for this costume,” Hamill said on his account. Similar to a long he used from the original movie when his character was rescuing Princess Leia in a Stormtrooper’s uniform.

Hamill did tip his hand a bit before he circulated at Comic-Con with another Instagram post showing four masks he might be wearing. All are characters he played or voiced for movies and TV.

“Would I lie about being in disguise at #SDCC? Sorry- I misspoke & said I “would” instead of “wouldn’t,” Hamill said.

“FUN FACT: I’M HERE RIGHT NOW!! Here are the 4 masks I’ll be wearing (1 for each day) so be on HIGH ALERT & please say hello when you see me!”

Back in March, Mark Hamill was honored with the 2,630th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of the El Capitan Theatre.

“It’s hard to convey my gratitude, my joy, and the exhilaration,” Hamill said at the unveiling. “I haven’t been speechless since ‘Force Awakens.’”

Joining him for this special occasion were special guests Harrison Ford, George Lucas, Billie Lourd, Kelly Marie Tran and R2-D2. Harrison Ford and George Lucas introduced Hamill for the ceremony.

Disneyland Resort brings magic to the holiday season starting November 9th – January 6th. The festive season will bring back some favorite holiday experiences along with entertainment, as well as dazzling decor that will be decked out throughout the Disneyland Resort.

At Disney California Adventure Park, Festival of the Holidays will once again bring the spirit of the season through special entertainment, including the return of Disney ¡Viva Navidad! street party. Delight in a holiday celebration filled with authentic music, dance, décor, and pure Disney magic. Discover marketplace kiosks serving multicultural fare at the guest-favorite Festive Food Marketplace. For the residents of Cars Land, two attractions will receive their holiday overlay again this year to become Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree.

Over at Disneyland park, special seasonal favorites return, including the enchanting Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle, “Believe … in Holiday Magic” fireworks spectacular and magical “A Christmas Fantasy” parade. Another week and another new Walt Disney World/Ziploc sponsorship announced! Over the past few weeks we reported that Ziploc was now the sponsor for the Kitcot Activity Centers at Epcot. Today, WDWMagic.com is reporting that Ziploc will also be the new sponsor of Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.

At first, one might wonder what the connection might be between Splash Mountain and Ziploc bags. But, if you think about it, it really does make sense! When the partnership officially begins, guests will given Ziploc bags to keep their articles dry while they are on the ride. I am sure these will protect items much better than the mesh pockets that are currently provided for guests on Splash Mountain.

A brand new show, Rhythms of Raglan 2018 just hit the stage after months of rehearsals in Ireland. Disney Dreamers Academy Accepting Applications Through October 31st

Disney Dreamers Academy is a once in a lifetime dream come true for a select number of high school students every year. This all expense paid mentoring program brings 100 of those students to the Walt Disney World Resort. During their time there, these students get to experience hands on career seminars, sessions and workshops. The next Disney Dreamers Academy will be March 21st through March 24th, 2019.

Again this year, Steve Harvey and Essence Magazine will be joining Disney as Walt Disney World becomes a classroom. The students will be alongside celebrities, community and industry leaders as well as Disney Cast Members. There will also be celebrity speakers and special guests that can help guide the students to achieve success and become leaders. Disney Dreamers Academy has seen doctors, engineers and pilots among it’s graduates.

Applications are currently being accepted and are due by October 31st, 2018. They include essay questions about the applicant’s experiences and what their dreams for the future are. They will be chosen based on character, attitude and determination. A parent or guardian will accompany each student during their time at the Walt Disney World Resort.

ABC Fall Premiere Dates

Get those remote controls fired up! The ABC Television Network has announced that it will launch an exciting 2018-19 season with a slate of returning hit shows and several new series, beginning with the premiere of the 27th installment of “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday, Sept. 24, immediately followed by the highly anticipated season premiere of last year’s No. 1 new drama, “The Good Doctor.”

This fall’s new dramas “A Million Little Things,” which is about a group of friends coping with an unexpected loss, premieres Wednesday, Sept. 26; and “The Rookie,” starring Nathan Fillion as one of the newest – and oldest – police trainees in Los Angeles, premieres Tuesday, Oct. 16. That same night, ABC will launch two new comedies – “The Conners,” a spinoff of the groundbreaking show “Roseanne,” and “The Kids Are Alright,” inspired by creator Tim Doyle’s Irish-Catholic upbringing in the turbulent ’70s. “Single Parents,” which is about a group of adults who lean on each other to raise their children while trying to hold on to their personal lives, rounds out the new comedy slate, and premieres Wednesday, Sept. 26.

“Dancing with the Stars: Juniors,” which will pair celebrity kids with professional junior ballroom dancers, launches with a two-hour premiere on Sunday, Oct. 7. Rounding out the roster of new fall titles is “The Alec Baldwin Show,” featuring in-depth conversations with some of today’s most intriguing personalities. Starring the three-time Emmy® winner, the hour-long show, which first aired as a sneak preview last March, will premiere Sunday, Oct. 14.

Friday nights herald the return of TGIF on ABC, which first launched the iconic programming block nearly 30 years ago. The new TGIF premieres Oct. 5 and will feature “Fresh Off the Boat” and “Speechless” on their new night, followed by “Child Support” with Ricky Gervais and Fred Savage, at its new time.

“Shark Tank” celebrates its 200th episode and 10th season premiere on Sunday, Oct. 7 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), before moving to its regular timeslot the following Sunday, Oct. 14 (9:00-10:00 p.m. EDT).

ABC’s longest-running prime-time drama series, “Grey’s Anatomy,” kicks off its record-breaking 15th season with a two-hour premiere on Thursday, Sept. 27, followed by the fifth season premiere of “How to Get Away with Murder.” “Station 19” returns to the TGIT lineup the following Thursday, Oct. 4.

“American Housewife” returns Wednesday, Sept. 26, at a new time (8:30-9:00 p.m. EDT). Fan favorites “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” “black-ish,” “The Goldbergs,” “Modern Family” and “Splitting Up Together” complete the fall lineup.
