Holiday Minnie Mouse Ears

It may be July, but the magic of the holiday season is already starting to shimmer from the Disney Parks. New Holiday Minnie Mouse Ears will be arriving this holiday season at the Disney Parks, and we’re so excited! The ears will join the rest of the gorgeous Christmas releases starting this October and November.

So far we know of three holiday inspired Minnie ears, and a Mickey ears hat! The first ears were available for preview at the Christmas in July event last week. These beautiful ears are a soft red velvet, with a puffy green sequin bow. Each ear has a silvery embroidered snowflake, that is accented in rhinestones. These ears have a very traditional and classic feel to them, that matches the new Nordic Christmas theme perfectly!

There will also be an updated version of the ugly sweater Christmas ears! These will have the same fuzzy pom pom style ears and sweater bow as last year, but with a new color theme of black and white, that will have hints of red. A new twist on the plaid Minnie Ears will also debut this year as well. These will feature black sequin ears, with a rustic plaid bow.

The Mickey ear hat is delightfully cheerful this year! This red hat says “Light up the Holiday”, and has antlers in addition to the Mickey ears! The antlers have Disney inspired ornaments hanging from them, including attractions themed ones like the Haunted Mansion!

Prices have not been released for the Holiday Minnie Mouse Ears yet, but we can look forward to seeing them this October and November, just in time to dress up for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!

Geyser Point stopped serving breakfast

Earlier this month Geyser Point stopped serving breakfast.  This Quick Service Restaurant at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is now serving only lunch, dinner and a lounge menu.

While this was a nice option to grab breakfast before a day of theme park adventures, guest can still hit up Roaring Fork for a Quick Service breakfast or Whispering Canyon Cafe for a Table Service breakfast! And Geyser Point now opens at 11am for lunch!

And this is a great place to grab a quick lunch or dinner if you’re adventures at The Walt Disney World Resort happen to take you to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.  The Bison Cheeseburger with Bacon, Sweet Onion Straws, Marionberry Barbecue Sauce Garlic Aïoli or the Lump Crab Cake Sandwich with House-made Canadian Bacon, Spicy Cabbage-Carrot Slaw and Miso Tartar Sauce served on an Artisan Roll with Multigrain Salad or Waffle Fries are more unique Quick Service options and can break up the standard burger and fries choices at other places.

And if you’re looking for something lighter, they have several salad options that are delicious!

If you’re looking for an adult beverage, they’ve also got an amazing Lounge menu to choose from!

So while Geyser Point is no longer serving breakfast, it’s still a great spot for lunch or dinner – or a cocktail at the end of the day!

Shanghai Disney Resort Now Offering Half-Year Passes

Shanghai Disney Resort had an exciting announcement yesterday. They will be launching all new Shanghai Disneyland Half-Year Passes beginning August 2nd. Guests will be able to enjoy all of the summer events and entertainment through the Chinese New Year celebrations. There will also be a special renewal offer complete with bonus park entries for current and previous Seasonal Pass holders. For those Seasonal Pass holders, the new Half-Year Passes can be purchased now.

Guests will definitely want to take advantage of these new passes as the resort will be featuring plenty of unforgettable celebrations with entertainment, décor and uniquely themed merchandise and dining options. Along with seasonal entertainment such as the traditional Chinese and international holiday, the resort will be hosting the first-ever Disney Inspiration Run and a special birthday party for Mickey!

Beginning August 2nd, the public can purchase the new Half-Year Passes and they will be valid for multiple entries by the same guest from August 2, 2018 to February 4, 2019. There will be three tiers available:

  • Weekday – Valid for admission on weekdays (excluding October 1-5, December 31, 2018 and January 1, 2019, but including the working weekends of September 29-30 and December 29, 2018)
  • Any Day – Valid for admission on any day through February 4 (excluding October 1-7, 2018)
  • Sunday – Valid for admission on any Sunday (excluding October 7 and December 30, 2018

From July 23rd through August 1st, 2018, current and previous Shanghai Disneyland Seasonal Pass holders will be able to purchase the new Half-Year Pass at a discounted rate via the resort’s official WeChat account and the official Shanghai Disney Resort Fliggy flagship store. They can be used starting immediately. First time buyers will be able to purchase the new passes from August 2nd to the 12th via the resort’s official Fliggy flagship store, with a limited-time early-bird discount in celebration of Alibaba’s Membership Day.

After August 12th, the new pass can be purchased across a wide range of official channels. These include the resort’s official WeChat account, the official flagship store on JD.com, the official Fliggy flagship store, and the resort’s official stores on Ctrip, Dianping, etc., with more channels set to open at a later date.

Previous Seasonal Pass holders can enjoy special pricing when purchasing their passes from July 23, 2018 through January 27, 2019 (this offer is not applicable in conjunction with any other Half-Year Pass discounts at purchase).

The new Half-Year Pass will also provide guests with a wide array of exclusive benefits across the resort for the entire duration of the pass, including an exclusive coupon booklet, special offers for resort hotels, discounts on dining and merchandise, Disneytown special offers, special ticket discounts for the Mandarin production of the hit musical, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and much more. Half-Year Pass holders will also gain exclusive access to pass holder events.

A Petition is Circulating the Internet for James Gunn to be Rehired

Since James Gunn has been dropped from director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 by Disney and Marvel, fans have started an online petition to have him rehired. So far, there are over 220,000 signatures and that number continues to grow. Before deleting his account, Gunn tweeted, “Many people who have followed my career know when I started, I viewed myself as a provocateur, making movies and telling jokes that were outrageous and taboo. As I have discussed publicly many times, as I’ve developed as a person, so has my work and my humor.”

“The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him,” said Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn in a statement.

Gunn was fired as the director of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”  3 days ago in result of tweets he made back in 2008 and 2009. The Daily Caller reported that James Gunn tweeted about controversial and offensive topics. The filmmaker has since deleted his Twitter account.

Fellow director Joe Carnahan shared the petition on his Twitter account. As of Saturday afternoon, it had collected more than 5,000 signatures. By early evening, it had risen to nearly 16,000. By Sunday morning, the total had climbed to 51,000.

Other stars from Guardians of the Galaxy, including Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, and Zoe Saldana have tweeted about Gunn.

Gunn has been working on the script for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, and the movie was expected to begin shooting in Atlanta in the fall for an expected 2020 release date, though Marvel Studios had never officially announced the date.

“Disney’s Broadway Hits at Royal Albert Hall!” Brings Home Two Emmy Awards

The 2018 Daytime Emmy Awards gave a big spotlight to the collaboration between Disney Parks Live Entertainment and Disney Theatrical Productions as “Disney’s Broadway Hits at Royal Albert Hall!” brought home 2 Emmy awards. Director Jay Hatcher, part of the Broadcast Production team at Walt Disney World Resort was presented with the award for Outstanding Directing – Special Class. “Disney’s Broadway Hits” was also honored with an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Sound Mixing.

Jay spoke about the long-standing collaboration between himself and Jeff Lee. “Jeff and I had worked together previously on several concert events, bringing the magic of Disney on Broadway to our parks and our ships,” said Jay. “For us to have the opportunity to bring that into people’s homes, we took that responsibility very seriously. And to be recognized at the highest level for our efforts is a complete dream come true.”

Back in October 2016 “Disney’s Broadway Hits” was performed live at London’s Royal Albert Hall and broadcast on the Sky Arts Television Network, as well as BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night. It celebrated two decades of stage musicals from Disney Theatrical Productions and included highlights from Broadway musicals “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lion King,” “Aida,” “Tarzan,” “Mary Poppins,” “The Little Mermaid,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” “Aladdin,” “Frozen” and “Newsies,” with performances by a number of Disney stage veterans.

Alan Menken (a Tony Award and eight-time Academy Award winner), accompanied by the 74-piece BBC Concert Orchestra, also made a special appearance during the performance. In presenting the show for television, Jay and the team leveraged 20 unique camera angles to create a sense of actually being there for the performance.

“Disney’s Broadway Hits at Royal Albert Hall” is currently available on the BroadwayHD streaming service, and you can catch another great collaboration between Disney Theatrical Productions and Disney Parks Live Entertainment when the Disney on Broadway Concert Series returns to the Epcot International Festival of the Arts in January 2019.

One of Disney Spring’s newest restaurants, Terralina Crafted Italian, along with Paddlefish have just announced new Happy Hour offerings! The Happy Hours will be held on Sunday through Thursday nights from 9 pm to 11 pm.

On the patio at Terralina Crafted Italian, guests can take advantage of $5 beers and half-price glasses of wine.

Over at Paddlefish’s Rooftop Bar, guests can unwind with $5 draft beers and $20 bottles of Rosé. If you aren’t much of a night owl, guests can also take advantage of these special prices from 2pm to 4pm at the Paddlefish Bar.

Both of these Happy Hours kick off today, Monday, July 23 and will continue each week on Sunday through Thursday nights at Disney Springs.

  • Sept. 6th, 2018 at Epcot from 9pm-11pm

Disney has just announced a special event for Walt Disney World Annual Passholders – V.I.PASSHOLDER Nights! This special event invites Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus, and Premier Passholders access to select attractions, shops, and dining locations at the Magic Kingdom or Epcot for an extra two hours after each park closes.

Invitations for this special event will be sent by email. When you receive your email, make sure to register ASAP as event capacity is super-limited and subject to availability. V.I.PASSHOLDER Nights is expected to begin this August. This is also a FREE event for Passholders!

This event is separate from the Toy Story Land “Play Big” event announced for select Annual Passholders this September. It is also part of a whole new collection of Annual Passholder experiences called “V.I.PASSHOLDER Perks” that include exclusive in-park offerings, merchandise events, and special in-park surprises such as the “Play Big” event.
