The expansion of Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts includes a 28,000-square-foot expansion of the convention center. This new convention center area will also include a 16,000-square-foot ballroom that can be divided into eight breakout rooms. The expansion will also include three pre-function areas and two distinct gathering rotundas providing unique networking spaces for attendees to relax and reconnect.

The convention center expansion, set to open in Fall 2018, will provide an additional 28,000 square feet, offering planners nearly 100,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space at this premiere Walt Disney World Resort location.

For the third year in a row, Cruise Critic’s Cruisers Choice Destination Award for best Cruise Line Private Island Destination goes to Disney Cruise Line’s Castaway Cay. Solar panels in backstage areas of Castaway Cay are used to fuel water heaters for bathing, dishwashing and laundry for Crew Members living on the island. Additionally, Disney Cruise Line recycles 7,000 pounds of used cooking oil each week to power a fleet of Bahamas Waste Management vehicles in Nassau.

Disney has just released a new extended sneak peek of their upcoming live-action adventure “Christopher Robin” with new footage from the film starring Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell directed by Marc Forster!

Epcot’s Lagoon to Get Electrical Upgrades. Could That Mean Changes to Illuminations?

Rumors have been circulating for some time about changes being made to Epcot’s popular nighttime show, Illuminations. The lagoon in the middle of the World Showcase where Illuminations is performed is getting about $2 million worth of electrical upgrades. Could that possibly mean Illuminations will be getting replaced or revamped?

“At any given time, we have numerous projects in varied stages of development across the Walt Disney World resort, and we have nothing to share at this time,” a Disney spokeswoman said in a statement when asked for comment.

Reedy Creek Improvement District, which is Disney’s government and provides services a typical municipality might handle such as roads and utility work, had a meeting Wednesday and voted to set a budget of about $1.8 million for “electrical upgrades” to the lagoon. They also approved $325,000 to buy materials which include transformers and switches. An additional $220,000 was set aside for engineering and construction inspection and survey work. But Disney nor Reedy Creek has elaborated more on what this will be for.

“I don’t know the details what they’re going to use it for, but that’s the request,” said Jason Herrick, manager for planning and engineering for Reedy Creek Energy Services, when he presented the two budget items during Wednesday’s meeting.

The work would include drilling and installing a new pipe from the American Adventure Pavilion across to an island in the lagoon.

No timeline has been set for the project.

2019 Disneyland Packages Available for Booking Next Week

Like Walt Disney World, big things are in store for Disneyland 2019. One of the most anticipated events is the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (Star Wars Land). While no exact date has been given. Disney has confirmed that the new Land will open sometime in Summer 2019.

Guests visiting Disneyland in 2019 will also be able to experience the recently-opened Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure Park featuring the re-imagined, “Incredibles”-themed Incredicoaster. Several attractions are already open at Pixar Pier but a few more will be open as 2018 comes to an end.

This is just a sampling of some of the magic coming to Disneyland in 2019. Will you be there?

Back in June, Walt Disney World has released vacation packages and pricing for 2019 travel dates. Reservations can be made up to 499 days in advance so guests wishing to travel in November and December will still need to wait a bit longer before they’re able to book.

As we previously reported, a new quick-service restaurant is coming to Disney Springs called Chicken Guy! The new eatery is a collaboration between celebrity chef, Guy Feri, and Restauranteur, Robert Earl and a chain dedicated to serving delicious, succulent chicken tenders paired with a wide variety of flavorful sauces meant to please all palates.

The menu at Chicken Guy! will feature one-of-a-kind all-natural fresh chicken tenders, hand-pounded to maximize crunch and paired with a wide selection of delicious sauces. Brined in fresh lemon juice, pickle brine and buttermilk, and infused with fresh herbs, these tenders deliver on flavor and texture. “Elena of Avalor: Song of the Sirenas” Television Movie Event Debuting This September

Big news Elena fans! The prime-time television movie event “Elena of Avalor: Song of the Sirenas,” based on the Emmy® and Imagen Award-winning series featuring Disney’s first princess inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore, will debut on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 (7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. EDT/PDT), on Disney Junior and the DisneyNOW app. The all-star guest voice cast for the special includes Gina Rodriguez, Edward James Olmos, Rita Moreno, Prince Royce and Rosario Dawson as sirenas, mysterious underwater creatures. Javier Muñoz (Broadway’s “Hamilton”) also guest stars as Elena’s cousin, Duke Cristóbal.

In the special, Elena travels to Nueva Vista, a place that she used to visit when she was a child and reconnects with her cousin Duke Cristóbal, who has been keeping watch over the city. While there, she encounters a group of mermaid-like sea creatures called sirenas and learns about their complicated history with humans. In an attempt to make amends, Elena befriends the sirenas and enlists their help to defeat evil sorceress Shuriki.

Rodriguez and Royce guest star as twin sirenas, Princess Marisa and Prince Marzel. Olmos and Moreno voice their parents, King Pescoro, and Queen Camila. Dawson voices the role of sirena royal guard, Daria. Jane Fonda recurs as Shuriki.

Following the premiere of the television movie, Disney Junior will debut a series of shorts titled “Elena of Avalor: The Secret Life of Sirenas” which delves deeper into the everyday lives of the sirenas. Additional extensions themed to the sirenas storyline include a storybook based on the television movie, which Disney Publishing released earlier this summer, as well as toys, dolls and role-play items from key licensees which will hit shelves on August 1.

“Elena of Avalor” stars Aimee Carrero as the voice of Princess Elena; Jenna Ortega as Princess Isabel; Chris Parnell, Yvette Nicole Brown and Carlos Alazraqui as jaquins Migs, Luna and Skylar, respectively; Emiliano Díez as Francisco; Julia Vera as Luisa; Christian Lanz as Chancellor Esteban; Jillian Rose Reed as Naomi; Joseph Haro as Mateo; Jorge Diaz as Gabe; Keith Ferguson as Zuzo; and Joe Nunez as Armando. In addition to Fonda, the recurring guest voice cast includes Constance Marie, Lou Diamond Phillips, Hector Elizondo, Justina Machado, Jaime Camil, Anthony Mendez, Mario Lopez and Diane Guerrero. Latin GRAMMY® Award winner Gaby Moreno performs the series’ theme song.

The series was created and is executive produced by Craig Gerber. Silvia Olivas serves as co-executive producer and story editor and Elliot M. Bour is co-producer and supervising director. The series’ cultural advisors are Marcela Davison Avilés, founder of The Chapultepec Group, co-founder of the international Latino arts initiative Camino Arts and director of Humanities Programs at the FDR Foundation at Harvard University; and Diane Rodriguez, associate artistic director of Centre Theatre Group and co-founder of the theatre ensemble Latins Anonymous and member of the National Council on the Arts.

John Kavanaugh is the series’ songwriter/music director, Tony Morales is the composer and Rene Camacho, acclaimed touring musician, and Latin music instructor serves as the Latin music consultant. “Elena of Avalor” is a production of Disney Television Animation and carries a TV-Y parental guideline.

Hong Kong Disneyland Announces Name for New Ant-Man and The Wasp Attraction

As we reported last year, a new Ant-Man and The Wasp attraction is coming to Hong Kong Disneyland. Today, we are excited to announce the name of the new attraction! It will be called Ant-Man and The Wasp : Nano Battle! In addition, Hong Kong Disneyland has released a clip with the stars of “Ant-Man and the Wasp” talking about the attraction. Check it out here:

When Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! opens in 2019, it will be the second Marvel-themed ride at Hong Kong Disneyland. In January 2017, the Iron Man Experience opened which offers guests an action-packed, 3D, motion simulator thrill ride.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! will take the place of Buzz Lightyear Astro-Blasters. The attraction is said to shrink down guests to go on an interactive battle alongside Ant-Man on an ant-sized battlefield.

The new attraction will be opening as part of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s massive refurbishment and expansion project.

Have you seen the new Ant-Man and The Wasp movie yet? Without giving away too much of the movie, I will tell you Paul Rudd and Company delivers on the comedy. The writing and storyline on the 2nd film were even better than the first. The first Ant-Man movie can be a little slow at times, Ant-Man and the Wasp seem to move forward a little faster than the first.

The Three Caballeros Will Join DuckTales in Season 2

The Three Caballeros will join DuckTales! It was announced by producers Matt Youngberg and Francisco Angones at Comic-Con that several familiar faces, including the Three Caballeros would be making an appearance on the Disney Channel show.

The Three Caballeros first hit the scene in Walt Disney’s 1944 movie of the same name. In the ovie, Donald Duck pays a visit to Latin America where he joins up with dapper parrot José and gun-slinging rooster Panchito. Together this trio became known as The Three Caballeros. You can now find Donald and his friends in the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros attraction at Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion.

Bring to life 2/3 of the Three Caballeros on DuckTales will be Bernardo de Paula voicing José and Arturo del Puerto voicing Panchito. Donald Duck will continue to be voiced by Tony Anselmo.

Donald’s pals will make their appearance in a second-season episode. The first season of DuckTales is coming to and end next month – on August 18th. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for the second season of DuckTales!
