New Short Escapes Are Coming to Adventures By Disney

New Short Escapes Are Coming to Adventures By Disney

Adventures by Disney recently introduced Short Escapes, and they are so popular that even more are coming in 2019.  This is super exciting to me because I love Adventures by Disney.  Let’s see what’s in store in 2019!

The first of the new itineraries takes guests to Boston, Massachusetts with Best of Boston – Past and Present.  This is a 4-day, 3-night trip that immerses guests in the history of Boston and the United States.  Featured on the tour are a privately guided tour, with costumed guides, of the Freedom Trail.  This is a 2.5 mile walking trail that takes guests past all sorts of historic locations in Boston.  There are two after-hours tours included in this trip.  One is at the Old North Church where the lanterns were hung to warn of the coming British troops.  The other after-hours visit is to the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum which concludes with a private dinner.  Other excursions included in this Escape include rowing on the Charles River, a private sight-seeing biking tour, exploring Harvard Yard, and a private clambake on Thompson Island.  This Escape can be booked for dates from May through October 2019.

Next up is the Short Escape to London, Bucket List Getaway in London.  This is a 3-day, 2-night trip that can be booked as a standalone trip or as an add-on to Disney Cruise Line sailings out of Dover, England.  Join the Tower of London’s Jewel House Warden for a private viewing of the royal Crown Jewels, take a high speed boat ride on the River Thames, and a private tour of Westminster Abbey.  This trip also includes a dinner show and a viewing of the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace.  This Escape can be booked for select dates in July, August, and September 2019.

Finally, there is the 3-day, 2-night City Highlights and Outdoor Recreation in Vancouver.  This trip to British Columbia can also be booked as a standalone trip or a Disney Cruise Line add-on for the Alaskan Voyage.  Enjoy a gondola ride to the top of Grouse Mountain, then soar over the treetops on the zipline.  Grouse Mountain also offers early access to the grizzly bear habitat, breakfast, lumber jacks, birds of prey, and totem poles.  Also enjoy a morning bike ride in Stanley Park and a private guided tour of Suspension Bridge Park.  The first night offers a beer and wine tasting for adults while Junior Adventurers head out on a scavenger hunt with their Adventure Guides.  This tour also includes a “foodie” walking tour of the Public Market at Granville Island.  This Escape is available on select dates from May through September 2019.

Don’t forget the returning Short Escapes to New York City, San Francisco, Southern California, Wyoming, Barcelona, and RomeShort Escapes include all accommodations, tickets and admissions, transportation during your stay, luggage handling, most meals and snacks, and two Adventure Guides, just like the longer trips.

The Tropical Hideaway, now Open in Adventureland at Disneyland Park

The Tropical Hideaway, now Open in Adventureland at Disneyland Park

A new exotic marketplace, The Tropical Hideaway, has officially opened in Adventureland at Disneyland Park. This new spot serves as an outpost for guests to discover delicious tastes from all corners of the world.

The Tropical Hideaway, now Open in Adventureland at Disneyland Park

Many adventurers have dreamed of visiting faraway, mysterious or dangerous lands. They get a taste of that excitement in Adventureland, with the intrigue of a remote, tropical jungle set during the early to mid-20th century. Adventureland harkens back to a time when explorers ventured into unknown realms full of natural wonders. Voyagers explore the African rainforest (Tarzan’s Treehouse); India’s Lost Delta (Indiana Jones Adventure); Polynesian islands (Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room); and uncharted lands in Asia, Africa and South America (Jungle Cruise).

Set along the Jungle River waterfront, it’s the perfect spot to sit and relax in between adventures. Colorful wildlife can also be found at the Hideaway.

After years of performing with the bird mobile chorus of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, Rosita is spreading her wings and taking flight toward a solo career. Guests will find her on the river’s edge at the loading dock waiting for her boat to arrive. This friendly bird makes small talk with world travelers passing through The Tropical Hideaway.

Menu items include chilled ramen salad, warm steamed bao buns, Sweet Pineapple Lumpia, (create your own) Dole Whip and more.

New at Walt Disney World in 2019

The magic at Disney is getting better in 2019!  Let’s look at what is new at Walt Disney World in 2019, which will debut January 18th!  I can’t wait for you to hear all of the new events coming this year!

First up, Mickey and Minnie’s celebrations will continue into the new year!  Parks and resorts at Walt Disney World will debut Micky and Minnie’s surprise celebration at Magic Kingdom park by honoring the true originals.  Guests will be able to greet Mickey AND Minnie TOGETHER inside Town Square Theater!  I know we were all a little sad to see that talking Mickey permanently lost his voice, personally I think Ursula stole it, but now we get to have the dynamic duo together!  As guests are visiting inside Town Square Theater, they should be sure to join the Celebration station!  Be sure to also sign the guest book so Mickey and Minnie know you enjoyed their party.

Guests can also enjoy a new song, called “It’s a Good Time” during the “Move it! Shake it! MousekeDance it! Street Party”!  After you enjoy the dance party, guests can visit Pluto under the big top at Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Storybook Circus.  In addition, Magic Kingdom will have new entertainment, merchandise, and specialty food and beverages!  Wow! So much new and fun stuff to add to my must-do list when I visit Magic Kingdom!

New at Walt Disney World in 2019

Let’s move over to Hollywood Studios to see what is new at Walt Disney World in 2019.  2019 marks 30 years for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, officially on May 1st!!  But this is Disney!  Disney will be getting the celebration started early!  Starting January 18th, Hollywood Studios will reveal the new 30th anniversary logo.

Located on Pixar Avenue, guests will be able to meet the Incredibles!!  Mr. and Mrs. Incredible and Frozone will make appearances throughout the day during a street party! Complete with music, dancing, interactive games, and more, guests can show off their super moves to some new friends.  Guests will also be able to meet the famous super-suit designer Edna Mode!!

New at Walt Disney World in 2019

Located in Walt Disney Presents, guest will be able to open a door inside the Disney-Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc” world to visit Mike and Sulley!!  After you are visiting the two most lovable monsters be sure to visit the new high-energy live show, “Disney Junior Dance Party!”  So many new things happening, sounds like we will be dancing the day away!

Time to head over to Epcot to see what is new at Walt Disney World for this park.  Starting January 18th and lasting through February 25th, guests can indulge in the famous International Festival of the Arts!  This year the Disney On Broadway Concert Series will be expanding to seven days a week during the Festival of the Arts.  I love Broadway, especially when the feature music from “The Lion King” and “Beauty and the Beast”.   This is on my bucket list still, but the pictures are always amazing!!  One of my friends is going this year, I am still trying to convince her to put me in her suit case!

During the festival guests will be able to experience new food from the 13 food studios, enjoy performance artists, complimentary seminars, Figment’s Brush with the Masters Scavenger and a hands-on activities all ages will enjoy!  However, don’t leave Epcot without seeing “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” as this show is set to end in the second half of 2019 for a new nighttime spectacular.

New at Walt Disney World in 2019

Our last park to visit is Animal Kingdom.  Guests will be able to feel the love during the “Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party” featuring Timon and Rafiki!  Located on Discovery Island, guest will be able to enjoy the dance party dancing like animals as a street band plays in a World Beat Style.

New at Walt Disney World in 2019

There is so much to look forward to in the new year!! I cannot wait to be able to visit all of what is new at Walt Disney World in 2019!  While we gear up for all of this excitement you can find a new countdown clock online here as we countdown to January 18th!

Select Walt Disney World Property Road Closures December 26-29.

Walt Disney World Property Road Closures

Heads up! There are a few Walt Disney World Property Road Closures happening the rest of this week!  We are all aware of the construction work that has been happening in/around the Walt Disney World Resorts and Parks.  Now it will come with a few road closures as well.

As the Walt Disney World Company continues to enhance the parks and resorts with new areas, like the new Star Wars Land slated to open late Fall of 2019 for example, there will be a few road closures.  For the upcoming rest of the week, Decebmer 26-29th, please take note of the following road blocks.

Beginning Wednesday night, December 26th through Friday morning, December 29th, there will be certain Walt Disney World property road closures nightly from Magic Kingdom park close through 6 a.m.  This should only affect your commute homes from the park as most construction is taking place during the evening hours.  However, drivers and bus transportation should still be aware it may take you some extra time coming home from the most magical place on earth.

There will also be single lane Walt Disney World property road closures around the parks and resorts as well that will contribute to possible delays during the days of December 26-29th.  There will be single lane closures that will occur on Buena Vista Drive, Osceola Parkway, Victory Way, and Southbound World Drive in the area of the Car Care Center.

We understand Walt Disney World Property road closures don’t make a magical start or end to your day.  However, drivers need to remember to always travel safely throughout property and remain alert!  Roadways will continue to change and grow along with the Walt Disney World Resort, so you must keep the bigger picture in mind.  Even though this is a small nuisance, the Disney Company is trying to provide a bigger and better experience for all guests as they enjoy their stay at The Walt Disney World Resorts and Parks.  Have a magical trip!

Hilarity Ensues As Deadpool Fan Reroutes Avengers Domain

Although it went unnoticed by many, with the release of the Avengers: End Game trailer last came one of the greatest pranks of our generation. A prank so well-done that even Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds had to take notice.

As the trailer released last week, a Deadpool fan named @GuyInChair bought the domain name advengersenedgame.com. The site was set up to redirect Marvel fans looking for the new trailer to Deadpool’s Once Upon a Deadpool. Hilarious, no? Confused fans everywhere looking to get a glimpse of Tony Stark and the other Avengers instead got a face-full of Deadpool!

Even better, Deadpool himself took notice! Ryan Reynolds (a self-proclaimed prankster) thought so much of the joke that he recently sent GuyInChair a special edition of his privately-owned gin, Aviation!

Included in the briefcase carrier that carried the gin was a travel cocktail kit and a set of Master & Dynamic headphones! Cool, no? Immediately, however, GuyInChair utilized the momentum he had gained as leverage in a hilarious exchange which discussed the ransom of the site domain! His request? Two tickets to the final Avengers premiere! That’s not asking too much in our opinion!

Of course, Reynolds had to let the “hero of our generation (GuyinChair)” know how he felt about the trickster’s ploy. And he did so by taking to twitter!

This is easily one of the funniest things we’ve had a chance to write about in a long time, and we are grateful for fans like GuyInChair and down-to-earth celebrities such as Ryan, who can take it all in stride. Appreciating the joy and often hilarious adventures that human life offers is not lost on these two, and we will absolutely be lobbying for GuyInChair to get his premiere tickets! Looking at you Deadpool…make it so!

Review: Disney’s ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ at the El Capitan Theater

Review: Disney’s ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ at the El Capitan Theater

On Thursday we were invited to see Mary Poppins Returns at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, which was a truly amazing experience. The El Capitan was built in the early 1920s by real estate developer Charles E. Toberman as one of three place houses for the Hollywood area.  It wasn’t until 1941 that the El Capitan was transformed from a playhouse to a theater being renamed to the Hollywood Paramount Theater.  Orson Well’s controversial film Citizen Kane was the first film to grace the theater’s silver screen.  It wasn’t until 1989 that the Walt Disney Company joined with Pacific Theaters and brought the theater back to its original glory reopening its doors with the world premiere of the Disney Pictures the Rocketeer.

Review: Disney’s ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ at the El Capitan Theater

When going to the El Capitan to see a movie it is a true experience with photo opportunities, movie amenities, pre-show entertainment, and other little extras all set in the timeless architecture of the theater itself; and the Mary Poppins Returns El Capitan experience was no different.  As you walk into the theater you are greeted by blooming cherry trees, park benches, Mary Poppins wall art, and a Leerie (Lamplighter) for the perfect photo opportunity.

Review: Disney’s ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ at the El Capitan Theater

With refreshments in hand, an El Capitan usher will help you to your seat where you’ll enjoy the pre-show entrainment of Disney and Christmas because it is the season, songs being played on the theaters amazing 4/37 “Mighty” Wurlitzer.  The Mighty Wurlitzer is a true treasure of the theater being the last of the original five “fox specials” that were built in the 1920s.

Review: Disney’s ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ at the El Capitan Theater

Even the curtain lifting to reveal the silver screen is amazing and gives much anticipation for the movie to begin. The movie itself was a fantastic blend of the classic 1964 film and the new generation. Emily Blunt makes an amazing Mary Poppins and with the help rest of the cast brings the story to life.  The new storyline does a good job of bringing back hints of the original.   The musical score for the film by Oscar-nominated Rob Marshall is masterfully done and adds a key element to the film, but it is the films “The Place Where Lost Things Go” that will invoke many emotions.

After the show, be sure to head downstairs to check out original props and costumes from the movie.  Items on display range from the notice of repossession from the Banks door, the Banks kite with the Votes for Women sash, and the Banks Nursery Royal Dutton Bowl.  Costumes worn by Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda during the production of Mary Poppins Returns are also on display for fans to see.

The El Capitan experience is a truly magical movie-going experience that kids, I mean, moviegoers of all ages will enjoy.  After you experience everything that the El Capitan has head next door and put a cherry on it by enjoying an ice cream sundae from Ghirardelli.

Don’t Forget the Ride Photos!

Don't Forget the Ride Photos!

I don’t know about you, but in my family, ride photos are serious business.  In my teen years, my youngest sister thought it would be a great idea if we started looking terrified when we knew a photo was coming.  Someone who knew about the camera would yell out to everyone to remind them to make a face, and the result was comedy gold.  My mother actually has a pretty impressive collection of ride photos she has collected over the years because some of them were just unforgettable.

Back then, if you wanted a ride photo in Walt Disney World, you had to remember or write down your number and go to the desk and wait for them to print yours out.  Things are considerably different when you get ride photos these days.  While you still have the option to go to the desk and get prints of your photos, their popularity has declined over the  years.  The great part is that the cameras are still capturing these amazing pictures, and you can get them digitally through PhotoPass.  They have also started adding borders, like the one above, to the photos within the last year.  The photo opportunity at Pirates of the Caribbean is also relatively new, so sometimes it still surprises even the Walt Disney World veterans.

Ride Photos  Ride Photos

Ride Photos   Ride Photos

I wish there were pictures of my family so you could see some of the amazing shots we have collected, even in recent years.  Now, if you didn’t already know, you can get these photos easily.  If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you can add the Memory Maker to your package.  With the Memory Maker, all of these photos are included in your package and entitles you to a free digital download of your photos.  The Memory Maker is also included in the Platinum Plus Annual Pass.  This is why I was able to capture the Dinosaur photo where my daughter completely disappeared because she slumped so far down in her seat out of fear.  Or the photo on Splash Mountain where we successfully had our whole car sleeping.  I never leave out the Memory Maker.

Ride Photos  Ride Photos

So, which rides can allow you to get these amazing photos?  Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, DINOSAUR, Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, Frozen Ever After, Pirates of the Caribbean, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Slinky Dog Dash, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Test Track, and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™.  Please also note that Frozen Ever After, Pirates of the Caribbean, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Slinky Dog Dash do not have the photo counter at the end of the ride, so the only way to get your photos is to have, and be wearing, a MagicBand.  I would also like to point out that if you are travelling in a large party, as long as you share your travel plans with each other in your My Disney Experience, you can share your photos, too.

More from Disney’s Aladdin Live-Action Remake.

Alright everyone, now that we officially know that Will Smith will be playing the Genie in Disney’s Aladdin live-action remake, this film can’t come soon enough.  Honestly, I felt as if Aladdin was such a classic I was on the fence if I really wanted to see this film.  However, with such amazing actors playing some of my favorite characters I am becoming more and more excited!

The cast of Disney’s Aladdin Live-action remake recently gave us a quick behind-the-scenes look on set.  I must say, I am extremely happy that the cast is filming on location rather than inputting a lot of magic “behind-the-scenes”.  Look how amazing everything looks already!

YouTube player

It was recently released that Will Smith will be playing Genie, but let’s take a look at some of the other characters in the film.  Playing “Jasmine” is actress Naomi Scott.  Scott should seem familiar to Disney fans as she played a lead role in the hit Disney Channel movie “Lemonade Mouth”.

More from Disney’s Aladdin Live-Action Remake.

Playing “Aladdin” is actor Mena Massoud.  Massoud has played in a few minor tv shows and major films before landing the coveted role.

The last major actor, who will play “Jafar”, for Disney’s Aladdin Live-Action remake is Marwan Kenzari.  Kenzari an Internationl break out talent of 2016 and is also known for his part alongside, Tom Cruise, in The Mummy.

So, what about you? Are you excited for another live-action remake?  I feel like the Aladdin re-make does look more authentic as a live-action than some of the others.  I guess we will find out come May 2019!
