The 2019 Lunar New Year has officially kicked-off today at Disney California Adventure Park! Now through February 17th, guests visiting during the 2019 Lunar New Year will be able to sample unique Asian-Inspired cuisine at four Festival Marketplaces throughout the park, Paradise Garden Grill and the Festival Food and Beverage Cart.

This is an important year for the Asian cultures! The Year of the Pig is the 12th zodiac sign in the Chinese Zodiac, which means this will be one fantastic celebration, starting with the food! Let’s look at the food that will make your must-try list even longer. I know, not like we haven’t done enough of that already, but trust us these are worth the add.

First Look At New Disney Springs 2019 Merchandise

Today we were excited to attend a first look for 2019 at Disney Springs! There is such an incredible array of new designs coming out this year, and we’re loving it all! Some of the new Disney Springs 2019 Merchandise has already been spotted in stores, but there’s a lot of incredible treats awaiting us still.

Just when we thought there couldn’t be any more delicious treats fro the Disney D-lish collection, we were treated to a taste of even more! Lots of new apparel and accessories will be making a debut along side fabulous home items.

Some exciting new delights include a Disney Snack rain coat, and I think I spy the new Donut Minnie Ears in the background!

To keep those rainy days sweet, there is also a matching Mickey Donut umbrella!

Another snack inspired pair of Minnie Ears is headed our way too! Joining the Mickey Ice Cream, and Minnie Donut Ears, is the new Minnie Lollipop Ears!

We’ve taken a peak at the Minnie Donut necklace before, but seeing it up close was even sweeter! This beautiful bauble will be making it’s way to Disney Springs soon.

If you couldn’t decide on which snack you liked most from the Alex and Ani collection, a new bracelet might satisfy your cravings. This “Best Day Ever” snack bracelet has four tasty treat charms on it! A Mickey Waffle, Mickey Ice Cream Bar, Minnie Cupcake and a Dole Whip.

Last but not least from the D-lish collection is a new Disney Dress design! This beautiful blue dress comes in both adult and kid sizes, which is perfect for a Mommy and Me snack day!

The ears will have it this year! It looks like lots of new Minnie Mouse ear headbands are coming to the parks very soon! Floral ears have become an Instagram favorite, and another polka-dot style will be rocking the dots too. I’m most excited about the MINT MINNIE EARS though! As many of us know, I’ve been wanting to see those for a long time!

We’ll also be seeing more Disney Attractions inspired ears this year. If your “it’s a small world” Spirit Jersey was in need of accessories, the perfect one has arrived! These “it’s a small world” Minnie Ears are styled after the Spirit Jersey, and say “hello” on the front and “goodbye” on the back.

The Purple Potion craze isn’t over yet! New purple inspired accessories will be coming soon, including something special for our Fur Babies!

I’m obsessing over the purple Mickey phone case, I love it’s little ears!

I’m not sure if you asked for it or not, but it’s here: A Spirit Jersey for doggies! Looks like purple potion will be the first Disney Spirit Jersey for pets! I wonder if we’ll see other colors in the future.

Speaking of Spirit Jerseys… the newest color trend has been revealed! A sweet sunshine yellow! I wonder if we’ll be seeing matching ears? I bet the Belle Minnie Ears would look fierce with this jersey though!

Some dapper new Disney dresses with matching purses will also be hitting the Dress Shop soon. A Spaceship earth dress with matching ball purse is sure to be a hit. I’m betting I’ll need to pack some tissues in the Grape Soda pin purse, because all of the beautiful UP! Balloons are making me think of Carl and Ellie already.

Disney and Fox Nab a Combined 37 Oscar Nominations

Earlier this week the 2019 Academy Awards nominations were released after what has already been a widely talked about show. After all of the announcements were made, Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm received a total of 17 nominations, and 21st Century Fox received 20 nominations. Combined, the two studios totaled 37 nominations setting both companies up for what could be a very successful awards night. Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger pointed out the unprecedented number of nominations in a congratulatory tweet issued Tuesday evening after the official Oscar announcements earlier that morning. With the recent merger of the two companies, Walt Disney Company executives have a lot to celebrate.

Presently, Disney and 21st Century Fox are two separate entities, but soon will be one with Disney at the helm. The deal, originally a $52.4 billion purchase ultimately closed at $71.3 billion after Comcast came in with a $65 billion all-cash offer. When the dust settled The Walt Disney Company was victorious in acquiring a major piece of 21st Century Fox. Among the divisions included are both the television and film production studios, as well as a major piece of the streaming service Hulu.

The merger was approved by shareholders late last year in two separate meetings. Disney shareholders gave the green light first. Shareholders of the Murdock owned company voted just after the confirmation from Disney. A few regulatory agency approvals are still needed before anyone can make the final signature on the dotted line. However, the critical go-ahead from the Department of Justice has been received.

This purchase poises Disney to make the move from media giant to media empire. With the launch of the Disney+ streaming service later this year, chairman of Walt Disney direct-to-consumer and international offers division, Kevin Mayer and his team are set to take on Netflix head-on.

Tune in to the 2019 Oscars on February 24th to see how many gold statues the Disney affiliated studios and 21st Century Fox bring home.

Incredible Surprise for a Life Long Minnie Mouse Fan and Kidney Recipient

Grab your tissues! Happy tears ahead! Meet 8-year old Lexi. Born with no bladder, Lexi has overcome many obstacles in her life so far, including, most recently, a kidney transplant. Last week, Lexi underwent yet another surgery, she needed a new kidney. As luck would have it, her dad Luther was a match and was willing to donate one of his kidneys to Lexi. Surgery went great and both are recovering wonderfully. Lexi continues to overcome any obstacle that is sent her direction and does so with immense courage and a smile on her face.

Yesterday turned out to be a special day for Lexi, who is a life long fan of Minnie Mouse. Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan stopped by Mount Sinai Hospital to visit Lexi and her family, but he didn’t come alone. Michael brought Minnie Mouse with him to surprise Lexi and share some special news: a trip for Lexi and her family to visit Walt Disney World and meet Minnie again!

Walt Disney World Annual Passholders will now have the opportunity to meet Disney artists, Mike Posluszny and Dave Keefer! An exclusive V.I.PASSHOLDER merchandise event is taking place at the World of Disney store in Disney Springs from 9-10am on Saturday, January 26th.

Featuring four new Mickey Mouse t-shirt designs, the new Disney Parks Artist Series was created by local Disney artists Darren Wilson, Dave Keefer, Mike Posluszny, and Casey Jones. Each shirt is designed in the artist’s style and represents an icon from one of the four theme parks at WDW.

Passholders will have the opportunity to meet Mike and Dave who are the artists behind the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios designs. AP’s will also have the opportunity to get their purchased shirt signed at this exclusive event.

Registration is not required for this event, but guests must provide a valid annual pass and photo ID at check-in. Merchandise will only be available while supplies last and the 20% off Passholder discount will be applicable. Limit 2 items signed per guest per time in line.

Is Princess Diaries 3 Happening? “Shut up, Shut Up, Shut UP!” I know, I thought it was too hard to believe when I first heard the news too!

Recently, during a phone interview with guests calling into Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to ask questions live on air, Anne Hathaway was given this question: “Have you heard about the Princess Diaries 3 since the author [Meg Cabot] said that there is a script for the third movie?”

Anne’s response:… You’ll have to watch the video below to find out!

Okay, okay, I will tell you! Anne stated: “There is a script for the third movie… There is a script, I want to do it, Julie [Andrews] wants to do it, Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it, we all really want it to happen. It’s just we don’t want to do it [Princess Diaries 3] unless it’s perfect. Because we love it just as much as you guys love it, it’s as important to us as it is to you, and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready…”

I know Anne and Chris, our mouths dropped too!

We are so excited to hear that miracles do happen once in a while and that strides are being made to honor the fans, the cast and the crew of such a beloved book and movie series. There is no word yet if Chris Pine plans to reprise his role as Nicholas Devereaux for the upcoming sequel. Heather Matarazzo has not stated if she will return as Mia’s BFF Lily Moscovitz. Not to mention, would it really be a Princess Diaries movie without our favorite, now ex-head of security, Joe, aka Hector Elizondo?

From here on out we will be on the look out for more information regarding this high anticipated sequel. In the mean time, you can dust off your tiaras, practice your ballroom skills and proper etiquette for when a formal announcement is made regarding the film.

New Annual Pass Launches at Shanghai Disney Resort

Shanghai Disney Resort has just announced the launch of the first-ever Shanghai Disneyland Annual Pass. Officially available January 25th, the Annual Pass will give guests the opportunity to enjoy the magic of Shanghai Disneyland for all 12 months out of the year.

The launch of the Annual Pass will allow guests to experience year-round fun from colorful spring celebrations to Halloween parties and holiday cheer. Because merchandise, food, and beverage offerings are always changing seasonally, guests are sure to experience something different with each visit.

The new Annual Pass is valid for 365 days and allows multiple entries by the same guest. The validity period will automatically begin 15 days after the purchase date by default, but guests can begin using their Annual Pass immediately after purchase in order to enjoy 15 days of complimentary access.

The new Annual Pass at the Shanghai Disney Resort is available at three different tiers that range based on age or disability:

Anyday Annual Pass – grants access any day in the 365 day validity period
Weekday + Sunday Pass – grants access of at least 250 park days during the 365 day validity period including most weekdays, Sundays, and part of the summer and winter holidays
Sunday Annual Pass – grants access to the parks on most Sundays and guarantees access to at least 45 days of the 365 day validity period

The Annual Pass, available January 25th, can be purchased at several places including the Shanghai Disney Resort official WeChat account, the Shanghai Disney Resort official WeChat Annual Pass Mini Program “E-gifting Annual Pass”, the Shanghai Disneyland Main Entrance ticket boots, and the Shanghai Disney Resort Reservation Center at 400-180-0000 or +86-21-3158-0000. Guests can purchase the Annual Pass via the Shanghai Disney Resort official website and app on February 15th, 2019.

Annual Pass holders will enjoy special benefits like discounts on dining and merchandise, Disneytown special offers, limited-time offers for the resort’s hotels, and special ticket discounts for the Mandarin production of the Beauty and the Beast Musical. Anyday Annual Pass holders can also enjoy up to 12 Early Park Entry benefits on select days during the year allowing them to experience select attractions before the park’s official opening.

With the Year of the Pig nearing closer, Shanghai Disneyland provides guests with a new Chinese New Year Experience to celebrate ancient Chinese customs. With the upcoming festivities, this is a perfect time to purchase the brand-new Shanghai Disneyland Annual Pass!

THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD Opens March 27th at LEGOLAND

Opening March 27^th at LEGOLAND in Winter Haven, Florida, THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD expansion will be a unique one of a kind addition to the park. Three new rides are set to open and all of them will be kid-friendly and are inspired by characters from the movie, THE LEGO MOVIE.

This new area is the perfect storm of bringing what kids see on the movie screen, to real life, that they can ride and enjoy. The Masters of Flight ride will be a new one of kind experience. Guests onboard the Masters of Flight will be suspended on Emmet’s Triple Decker Couch while surrounded by a full-dome virtual dome. Take flight and experience flying through a world created completely by LEGO bricks. This will be the first attraction in the world that embeds a 180-degree turn in the ride. The animation in the ride will feature a fun and magical adventures while allowing guests to soar through Cloud Cukoo Land, splash down on Pirate’s Cove, and dive to Middle Zealand.

Unikitty’s Disco Drop will take guests on a colorful rainbow filled journey based on Unikitty’s many moods. Once the ride starts, guests will fly to the top of Cloud Cukoo Land, and then spin, drop and bounce back down to earth.

The only water ride in THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD, At Battle of Bricksburg, will challenge riders to stop DUPLO aliens from stealing LEGO bricks by spraying water from their boats at targets. But you won’t be alone! Guests not on the ride will have cannons to help the riders stop the aliens from invading.

In addition to three new rides will be new shops and eateries. Joining in THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD will be Taco Tuesday Everyday eatery. Check out The Awesome Shop, loaded with collectibles and a space-themed playground inspired by Benny’s spaceship complete with special photo opportunities and character interactions.

Maleficent Dragon Returns to Festival of Fantasy Parade

We’ve got great news for Walt Disney World guests. The Maleficent dragon has returned to the Festival of Fantasy parade at the Magic Kingdom today! The float was a beloved part of the parade until May of last year when a malfunction caused the float to catch fire. The dragon featured intermittent fire breathing that wowed parade goers but ultimately led to a quick retirement. We are happy to report that Maleficent is back in the park parade starting today, with new safety features added.

What a better way to celebrate than with the Maleficent cone avalible today at Storybook Treats. These yummy villainous treats are – lime soft-serve in a black waffle cone, topped with purple sugar and chocolate horns.

Along with the anticipated return of the steampunk styled float, the parade will also welcome back Prince Phillip; the Fairies Flora, Fauna and Merryweather; and Maleficent’s mischievous “Ravens”. The return of these aspects of the Festival of Fantasy parade is sure to excite park guests.

Grab your party shoes and join Mickey and Mickey as they party down Main Street U.S.A. 2019 is a great year to plan your trip to Walt Disney World!! Kick off your vacation partying with Mickey and pals during Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration at Magic Kingdom.

Once you arrive at Magic Kingdom, head to Celebration Central, located inside the Town Square Theatre. Be sure to sign the guest book and pick up your checklist which lists 1o fun and different ways to celebrate Mickey and Minnie.

Before you leave Town Square, pay a quick visit to Mickey and Minnie who are ready to party with you in their all-new party outfits.

Not to be missed this year is the Move It! Shake It! MousekDance It! Street Party. If you haven’t had the chance to watch this show, good news. You have multiple chances each day to check it out. Party with Mickey and the gang to during this over the top street party. The Disney Parks Live Entertainment Team has made sure that the party will be one of a kind, packed with dancing, characters, and even a few surprises. Led by two singing party hosts, don’t miss the new celebration song, “It’s a Good Time”.

While you’re partying in front of Cinderella Castle, be on the lookout to party with your favorite characters. Inspired by the Mickey Mouse Club, this street party will have you up and moving in no time. Join in and dance with the characters as they make their way off the floats to party with you.

So which characters can you dance with? How about Donald & Daisy Duck, Max, Goofy, Pluto, Chip ‘n Dale, Clarabelle Cow, Clarice, Horace Horsecollar, Jose Carioca and Panchito. Of course, no party would be complete without Mickey & Minnie!

The best part is that this is a surprise celebration, which means, anything can happen at any moment. Keep your eyes open! Joining the musical fun is the Dapper Dans, the Casey’s Corner piano player, the Main Street Philharmonic and the Citizens of Main Street. Special guests have been spotted stopping by, such as Phineas and Ferb, Robin Hood, and Little John. Judy and Nick from “Zootopia” have also made an appearance.

Atlantis Hawaii Hotel Coming to Oahu

There’s a new hotel coming to O’ahu and it’s one you’re not going to want to miss. Atlantis, Hawaii is headed to the west side O’ahu, set to be constructed next door to Disney’s Aulani, a Resort and Spa. Atlantis, Hawaii is expected to be two times the size of Disney’s Aulani and projected to cost over a staggering $2 billion. This makes it the most expensive hotel project in the world. China Oceanwide Holdings will own the first ever Hawaii Atlantis Resort.

The beautiful resort will cover more than 100,000 square meters and host approximately 1,400 rooms. The resort will offer restaurants, bars, a beach club, spa, fitness center, boutique, and aquarium. There will also be high-end hotel facilities such as a water park, pavilion, and many event venues. The design for the Atlantis, Hawaii will bring modern and elegant style mixed with natural and cultural elements to create a complete entertainment, landmark destination. The experience is going to be unprecedented.

Army Vet Uses Tragedy to Complete Walt Disney World 5K

There are so many heartwarming stories about people participating in the runDisney races. Take Eric Donoho for example. He completed the Walt Disney World 5K last weekend and his story is truly an inspiration to us all.

Eric is a United States Army veteran. He served just over 4 years and, like so many, was deployed to Iraq. During the war, he was hit by 3 bombs, severely wounding him. The injuries he sustained included head, neck and brain injuries. Also, during this time, his wife had a miscarriage, the first of several. Once he returned home, not only did he lose two military friends to suicide but his wife was also diagnosed with cancer.

All of these things combined could easily break a person, however, he began to run. Running has been credited with saving his life. The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) is a veterans advocacy and support organization which is funded by a Cigna Foundation grant. It was these programs that have helped him overcome his obstacles through running and has propelled him as an inspiration to all who are facing similar challenges.

Eric Donoho is an advocate of taking adversity and using it as a force to propel forward. Today, he and his wife have 2 healthy children. One of the reasons that he ran the Walt Disney World 5K last week was to inspire his kids and show determination in overcoming obstacles. This sounds so similar to Dory’s message of “just keep swimming”. So, like Eric (and Dory), make sure that you are always moving forward!
