Fantastic Events Await at Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Party for the Planet

The month of April is upon us so it is just about time to party! Party for the Planet that is, the annual event to celebrate Animal Kingdom and our planet will be held April 20-22 this year at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. Fun events, artwork, merchandise, and meet and greets are planned during this special event included in your theme park admission.

Upon entering the park, guests will see upcycling at its finest with an enormous sculpture to celebrate the new Disneynature film Penguins. The sculpture, made out of marine debris will be found in the Oasis.

If you have ever wondered how all of the animals in the park are cared for and fed, this is the weekend to ask. Animal Care experts, animal educators, and conservation experts will be available for meet and greet opportunities. Guests may ask questions and watch the keepers in action during feedings and animal training events.

If you are looking for a more unique experience, you may want to consider attending Tiffins Talks. This special dining experience will feature Walt Disney Imagineer and Portfolio Executive, Joe Rohde. The lunch experience includes a four-course meal of global dishes, desserts, and specialty beverages. Rohde will spend the 2-hour experience in conversation with diners and recounting his travel experiences. The dining opportunity will be held April 20-22 from 1-3pm at Tiffins. Reservations are available now and the cost is $199 per person. Space is limited so if you are interested sure to make reservations soon by calling (407) WDW-DINE.

If lunch won’t fit into your schedule, Joe Rohde will be available at the Mombasa Marketplace April 20-22 from 10:00-11:30 A.M. to sign his artwork. While supplies last, guests will have the opportunity to purchase a commemorative lion print for the signing.

Entertainment will abound through the weekend. Be on the lookout for unique character appearances, meet and greet opportunities, and fun photo ops with Photopass photographers to commemorate your visit. Festive Lion King merchandise will be on sale at Mombasa Marketplace on Earth Day, April 22. All types of souvenirs will be available, including a spirit jersey, baseball cap, and adorable Simba mug.

Disney MaxPass Now Offers Fastpass for Entertainment Shows

Guests visiting Disneyland will now be able to make fastpass selections on their phones for select entertainment when they purchase MaxPass!

Guests with Disney MaxPass can now make fastpass selections for the nighttime water show, “World of Color,” at Disney California Adventure and the “Fantasmic!” nighttime spectacular at Disneyland Park on the official Disneyland app.

This new option to make fastpass selections for shows adds to the other benefits of purchasing a MaxPass like the ability to make fastpass selections for attractions and the option to download unlimited Disney PhotoPass photos from the day. The MaxPass helps guests maximize their day to fit in as much fun as possible!

The Disney MaxPass is available as an add-on to a theme park tickets. The price of Disney Maxpass is $15 per ticket, per day.

Director Rich Moore of the ‘Wreck It Ralph’ Films is Leaving Disney for Sony Pictures Animation

Director Rich Moore of the ‘Wreck It Ralph’ Films is Leaving Disney for Sony Pictures Animation. After a very successful decade of working with Disney, Moore has decided to step away and fulfill a new role with Sony Pictures Animation.

This news comes as a great surprise, especially after the major success of Rich Moore’s latests film with Disney, Ralph Breaks the Internet. Though one factor could be that the film lost an Oscar to Sony’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse in this years Academy Awards. Another fator may be SPA’s willingness to allow more creative freedom to it’s filmmakers than Disney, which is known for keeping a tight grip on the content allowed to be featured in its films.

Sony Pictures Animation (SPA) announced on Monday that Moore will be producing, directing, and developing animated feature films for the studio as well as “be available to act in an advisory capacity with ongoing feature film and series-based projects.”

Rich Moore directed several major films for Disney, including: Wreck It Ralph, Zootopia, and co-directed Ralph Breaks the Internet. He was made the head of Disney Animation before directing Wreck It Ralph, and has recieved Oscars for his work on Wreck It Ralph and Zootopia.

“Ten years is a long time — but when you’re working on incredible films with people you love as I have these last ten years, that time flies by,” said Moore in a statement. “I will always cherish my days at the Walt Disney Animation Studios and I leave with the faith that the studio is in good hands. I remain a lifelong Disney Animation fan and look forward to the films they’ll create in the future.”

“Rich is a world-class storyteller and he brings with him a wealth of experience and a unique sensibility for story, comedy and heart,” SPA president Kristine Belson said in a statement. “We are so excited for him to join our team of filmmakers at Sony Pictures Animation as we continue to develop a slate of animated features that are big, bold and will take audiences by surprise.”

Moore is a fine example of working with class and seems to have nothing but nice things to say about his time and those he had the honor of working with, including Ralph himself, John C. Reilly. We wish the best for Rich as he moves forward in his career and for the kind send off to his cocreators at Walt Disney Animation Studios.

One of the latest iconic treats to be added to my Disney snacks bucket list is the Lost Princess cone. Inspired by the lost princess herself…none other than Rapunzel from Tangled! (It is about time Rapunzel gets a little more love than the prettiest bathrooms in all the land.)

Not only is the Lost Princess cone beautiful to look at, but it also delicious. With the purple sugar cone to reflect Rapunzel’s purple dress in the movie Tangled and the lemon soft serve (dole whip!) to represent her long, golden, braided locks, this treat is a visual delight. “The Lion King” Celebration at Disney California Adventure June 7th

A celebration of “The Lion King” is headed to Disney California Adventure Park this summer! From June 7th to September 2nd, 2019, “The Lion King” celebration will bring Simba’s story to life.

Each day at various times, a traveling group of storytellers will arrive to celebrate “The Lion King” with story, song, and dance. They’ll invite everyone around to join in the fun too. Don’t overlook some of the other fun activities in the parks, like coloring and crafts, honoring the spirit of Africa and “The Lion King” live-action film, roaring into theaters July 19, 2019.

There is something about making things tiny, that just makes them even cuter! The new Disney Parks Wishables have done just that, beloved Disney characters, and even snacks have been given the micro treatment, as adorable plush toys! These pocket sized friends will be available to bring home when they make their debut April 10th.

These cute plushies are cuddly, and collectible! Several collections will make their debut featuring Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mickey & Friends, and Disney Snacks! Guests can also check back on Wednesdays for the release of new Disney Parks Wishables!

A celebration event will take place on April 10 at both the Disneyland, and Walt Disney World Resorts! Guests at Disneyland Resort can join in the celebration from 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. at World of Disney in the Downtown Disney District. Guests Evacuated From a Disneyland Ride Due to Water Flowing in the Boat

One of the boats on Storybook Land Canal Boats began to take on a little water at the Disneyland attraction yesterday. The OC Register reported that approximately 10 guests were assisted off the ride around 11:30 am.

Disneyland officials say no one was injured, and that any guests who had gotten wet were provided dry clothing to enjoy the remainder of their day at the park.

Storybook Land Canal Boast is located in Fantasyland and is a slow-moving boat ride tour of mini fairytale homes, lands, and castles lead by cast members.

Tomorrowland gets a paint job at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

You favorite land of the future has gotten a paint job. While walking through Magic Kingdom we noticed overnight there was a fresh coat of paint all over the walls and buildings in Tomorrowland. Bright colors are now adorning the walls of Mickey’s Star Traders, Carousel of Progress, Auntie Gravities, Merchant of Venus, and more. There is now bright teal, mint, coral, and purple paint freshening up the area. What do you think of the new colors? It reminds me of a futuristic ice cream shop.
