Christmas With The Voices of Liberty

The Voices of Liberty

Close your eyes and think about Christmas. Did you see Dickens-style carolers strolling through the snow amid gas lamps and garland? I know I did. A popular scene for many of us has come to life once again at Epcot.

The Voices of Liberty have once again donned their Christmas best to bring a magical Christmas show to guests in the American Pavilion on the World Showcase. If you’ve never seen this amazing show, you are missing out on a true gem.

Throughout their approximately 15 minute show, the acapella group sings Christmas carols both familiar and unfamiliar. Their line up does vary from show to show but you’re likely to hear classic songs from other widely celebrated Holidays during this season as well in addition to Christmas songs from around the world.

After Christmas, you’ll hear them singing their usual Americana line up, which is always a spectacular experience but for this most special time of the year, they really seem to shine. As ways, the ensemble performs the entire show acapella with booming basses and soaring sopranos (and everything in between) but for Christmas, the show has a feeling of extra significance. From somber religious hymns to jolly fun carols the show truly captures the spirit of Christmas. I’ve personally shed more than one tear through the show, it is that good.

Christmas With The Voices of Liberty

The show performs several times per day in the Lobby of the American Adventure and just a tip, you’ll want to sit in the floor under the dome for the best experience!  You’ll walk away with a renewed spirit and exuberance for the holiday with a song on your heart. I know I always do.

We Love The Cookie Stroll

Cookie stroll

The International Festival of the Holidays at Epcot brings all of the best of Christmas to one location. No matter whether the holiday is one of deep significance or holly jolly merriment to you (or both!), you’ll find it at Epcot. This year brings a new way to enjoy the festive fun of the season. the Cookie Stroll is the festivals newest addition and it gets two thumbs up from us!

Here’s how it works: pick up a passport (available at any cookie location), buy 5 cookies at various locations around the World Showcase, get a stamp to fill your passport, take your passport to the final location and get a special prize (a “completer cookie” – a chocolate dipped  Mickey sugar cookie)

Cookie stroll

How fun is that? Each cookie costs just $2, which means completing the Cookie Stroll costs $10. $10 for 6 cookies is a bit steep but the cookies are delicious and it is a fun activity to do with the kids while you enjoy the various holiday kitchens.

We Love The Cookie Stroll

The cookies themselves are delicious. Each booth has a different flavor and we really couldn’t choose a favorite. The Black and White at L’Chaim and the Completer Cookie were standouts though!

We Love The Cookie Stroll

If you’d rather save your cookies for later, this adorable jar is available for $19.99 anywhere Festival of the Holidays merchandise is sold. What a fun (and memorable!) way to take them back to your hotel for all of those late night cravings!

We think this is a fabulous addition to the International Festival of the Holidays and really enjoyed every moment of it. We hope this will become a staple of the Festival for years to come!

High-Flying Concept Art For Spiderman Attraction at California Adventure

Marvel

Marvel

If you’ve traveled to the west coast to check out those California based Disney parks, you’re probably well aware that there is much more of a Superhero presence. Marvel is a massive draw and included at California Adventure is a Spiderman meet and greet. It’s one of the more popular meet and greets in all Disney parks. However, if your “spidey senses” are tingling, there’s definitely a reason. Spiderman fans are soon to get much more than just a character meet and greet. A full-on experience is coming and we now have concept art that makes it very very real!

California Adventure at Disneyland Resort will soon have a full-fledged Spiderman attraction, and if the newly released concept art tells us anything…it’s going to be AMAZING!

Marvel’s high-flying, web-slinging superhero will be featured in the new attraction which is set to open to guests in 2020. The new concept art comes to us via the New York Times, and is absolutely, visually stunning. The art allows guests a real understanding of how the attraction will appear upon approach. In addition, we can see that Disney is sticking true those traditional Marvel themes that are so familiar…such as bright colors used for the exterior of the attraction.

It’s definitely going to be an experience to behold as Spiderman will finally get his own attraction in a Disney park. As more information is released and updated regarding the attraction, we will be here to sling it to you as fast as we can…so, stay tuned!

L’Chaim! Brings Special Food Offerings to the 2018 Epcot Festival of the Holidays

L'Chaim! Brings Special Food Offering to the 2018 Epcot Festival of the Holidays

It’s a holly, jolly holiday season at the Disney Parks and Resorts! The time of year where traditions are celebrated and shared with others. One of the best places to learn about other cultures and traditions is at Epcot in Walt Disney World.

Epcot is world famous for their various festivals available during different times of the year, such as the International Festival of the Arts,  International Flower and Garden Festival, International Food and Wine Festival, and the Festival of the Holidays. Each with unique themes, inspired food and drink, and seasonal offerings for guests of all ages.

One of the best things about these festivals is the food! Guests get the chance to try foods inspired by nations, cultures, and traditions from around the world.

L’Chaim! Holiday Kitchen is inspired by the Hebrew phrase “L’Chaim” which means “To Life!” usually used in reference to major celebrations such as engagements, birth announcements, and other special events in someones life. L’Chaim!’s Menu is also inspired by the celebration of Hanukkah, a Jewish holiday.

The smaller food and beverage pop up locations, during the festivals, have sample sized foods and usually have 4-8 different food and drink offerings depending on the location. L’Chaim! has 7 food and beverages to chose from. Take a look at these tasty treats!

Food:

  • Pastrami on Rye
  • Potato Knish
  • Chicken and Matzo Ball Soup
  • Black and White Cookie

Drinks:

  • Egg Cream
  • Brooklyn Brewery Brooklyn Lager
  • Blue Cosmo Cocktail

The menu sounds so delicious we had to go try it for ourselves. Take a closer look at the Pastrami on Rye.

A generous layer of Pastrami spread with Deli Mustard, between two pieces of perfectly spiraled rye bread and topped with a house-made pickle slice. Although this is sample sized, it packs a flavorful punch! After chowing down on this decadent sandwich we needed to satisfy our sweet tooth.

If you love Future World and the World Showcase, you will be thrilled to see them dressed up for the holidays during this fabulous event! It’s my favorite thing about Christmastime at Disney World, and here are a few reasons why.

From the moment you step into the park, you will be astounded by the holiday decorations! They’re everywhere!

Enter the Impressive World of Ralph Breaks VR

The creative teams at Walt Disney Animation Studios and ILMxLab have joined forces to bring a truly one of a kind, fully immersive animated experience to life for Wreck-It Ralph fans this holiday season. Starting November 21st, all North American VOID experience centers will launch Ralph Breaks VR, the newest story from the ILMxLab team.

YouTube player

In teams of 4, guests will transform into animated characters called “Netizens” with the help of Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope Von Schweetz. Together, Ralph and Vanellope will break the teams into the internet to play the newest, coolest video game ever. Just when the fun begins, a surprising turn of events launches guests into a topsy-turvy battle for survival featuring two brand new locations, Dunderdome, and Pancake Milkshake Diner, as well as bring them head to head with a new antagonist, B.E.V (Built to Eradicate Viruses). Voiced by Ralph Breaks VR and Ralph Breaks the Internet writer, Pamela Ribon, guests will be put to the test and ultimately get their chance to be a unique part of the Wreck-It Ralph story.

Bringing these two teams together was an incredible experience, melding the best of both worlds in a way never before possible. “They came to our story room a little over a year ago to talk about where this world could be and what we could do. We were writing the movie while we were still writing this and one of the things we were being really careful to do was to make this its own experience,” said Ribon.

Enter the Impressive World of Ralph Breaks VR

Good news for those that haven’t had a chance to experience the films, as it opens the door to a completely distinct story that anyone can play along with, regardless of skill or background. “You don’t have to see either of the films. You don’t even know Ralph or Vanellope before you step in and get immersed in their world,” she added. It also generates a brand new way to enjoy the art of storytelling, giving fans the most personal connection possible. The distance is taken away, bringing you out of the theater and right into the action. “They’re alive in this place and its magical”.

The entire process took a lot of input from so many dedicated creators, and the end product is astonishing. From start to finish, you are a real, living and breathing part of the world around you. From sights to sounds, even smell, you forget the real world and find yourself completely in awe. For the VOID team, it was important to make sure that experience was as powerful and realistic as possible, creating every sensation with the human sensory experience in mind.

Jade Grimmius, director and overseer at the VOID, voiced the team’s need to think beyond technology to make Ralph Breaks VR the best possible experience. “It’s not just technology. You want to match what you are feeling in the real world with what your senses are telling you is happening. For instance, when you are moving on a skiff or a train, or whatever we are telling you that you are moving on, you want to feel that movement. We have transducers that help you feel the vibration.”

Still, VR does cause some hesitation, as the senses may risk disorientation and not everyone has the stomach for sudden movement or changes in surroundings. The VOID keeps that in mind, developing a smooth, comfortable journey for all guests, which takes priority, even in a world of cutting-edge graphics and state of the art technology. “I get sick so easily..and I think that’s one of the things that distinguishes the VOID. We match so well what you are seeing in the inputs that are coming into your mind with what you’re actually feeling”

Enter the Impressive World of Ralph Breaks VR

It all comes together in a match made in heaven, pushing the boundaries of what virtual reality can do while keeping guests grounded. The entire experience is also ILMxLab’s first collaboration with Walt Disney Animation Studios. For the first time ever, animation and VR are one, opening the door to new ideas and concepts. “We were adding a third group to the mix in feature animation. It was a really great opportunity to be able to apply the strengths that we have been developing on the ILMxLab side and benefit from all of the talent on the feature animation side,” said Grimmius.

Craig Watson, Chairman, and CEO of the VOID shared in the excitement, discussing how ILMxLab got an opportunity to play with the actual models and assets constructed for the film. “The bunnies and kitties are the exact same models as the film. A lot of the buildings are there, the billboards that you see, we took all of that from the film and just brainstorming with these guys was like nerd fantasy fun.”

Enter the Impressive World of Ralph Breaks VR

Fun is really the name of the game with the entire experience. Though, with the introduction of Ralph Breaks VR, ILMxLab did assure that previous experiences would still be available, including Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire. Still, it’s a beautiful new chapter for all involved, fan and creator alike. This is the second project in the companies contract with Disney, with new experiences still in the pipeline. “It’s really powerful. It may be the first of many,” said Watson.

Learn how the impossible becomes the possible today! Pre-orders are now open for Ralph Breaks VR. You can find your local VOID experience center and review appointment times by visiting the VOID’s official site. Locations include Downtown Disney and Disney Springs.
