This Star Wars Cookbook Will Have You Cooking With The Force

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge takes you to the never-before-seen planet of Batuu in a place called Black Spire Outpost. The immersive experience takes you on a journey to a trading port where you’ll meet smugglers and traders, and the planet’s locals who according to Disney, have “a deep history of “farm to table” style whole foods and cooking traditions passed down through the generations.”

With the new Star Wars Cookbook coming soon, you’ll be able to bring these new recipes and cooking traditions to life! This Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge cookbook is the ultimate source for creating meals and treats from Black Spire Outpost and beyond. The cookbook is written from the perspective of Strono “Cookie” Tuggs, former head chef at Maz Kanata’s castle on Takodana.

The synopsis of this story according to Disney Parks Blog:

After his time on Takodana, Tuggs went on to operate a food freighter (known as “Tugg’s Grib” – a ‘traveling diner for diners traveling’) serving countless planets from across the galaxy. He now boasts an encyclopedic knowledge of the galaxy’s culinary delights born of decades of travel, research, and a love of the holovids of the legendary chef Gormaanda. In the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Cookbook, Tuggs’ first cookbook, Star Wars fans will find a wealth of delicious intergalactic recipes designed for home cooks of all skill levels. It will be published by Insight Editions and is coauthored by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel (an author of several bestselling medieval fantasy-themed cookbooks) and the award-nominated writer and editor Marc Sumerak, who’s work includes Hidden Universe Travel Guides: The Complete Marvel Cosmos and Guardians of the Galaxy: Creating Marvel’s Spacefaring Super Heroes.”

Look for the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Cookbook just in time for the holiday season in November, 2019. You can find more information and to purchase, check out the Insight Editions website.

Limited-Edition Silver Disney Dollar Available In Walt Disney World

Limited-Edition Silver Disney Dollar Available In Walt Disney World

Calling all Disney memorabilia collectors. There’s a brand new Silver Disney Dollar that has just arrived at Walt Disney World. This limited edition piece is reminiscent of the classic Disney Dollars that guests used to be able to purchase.

This limited edition silver Disney dollar can be found in two locations. This one we got a quick picture of (before it was bought by some lucky collector) was located at the Art of Disney store at Epcot. The silver Disney dollars can also be purchased at the Cinema at the Magic Kingdom. It’s located on Main Street. The sign on this display was incorrect, I heard the cast member tell the gentleman who purchase the silver dollar that it was actually $150.00.

The silver Disney dollar is plated with fine  silver with different colors etched in to make it look like a classic Disney dollar. These do not actually come with a Disney dollar that is actually a certificate of verification.

Limited-Edition Silver Disney Dollar Available In Walt Disney World

Disney dollars have been retired for a couple of years and were a great and inexpensive collectible. I’m lucky enough to still have a couple myself. The limited-edition silver Disney dollar is a great addition to any collection. Make sure if you’re planning on owning one of these fine pieces you get one soon since there’s no telling how many will be available. When this one was bought from the case yesterday they didn’t immediately replace it with another one.  Will you be getting one of these limited-edition collectibles?

Universal Studios bringing Jordan Peele’s “Us” to Halloween Horror Nights

Universal Studios bringing Jordan Peele's "Us" to Halloween Horror Nights

The reality unearthed in Universal Pictures’ global horror film blockbuster, Us, from visionary Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele, becomes perilously tethered to Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort in all-new terrifying “Halloween Horror Nights” mazes, debuting this September.

Featuring the unnerving labyrinth of underground tunnels that stretch from coast to coast below America, to the disorienting and the ominous uprising of “The Tethered”— doppelgängers of every living man, woman and child in the country—the “Us” maze will place guests at the heart of this living nightmare where they quickly realize they are their own worst enemy.

The journey begins circa 1986 as guests follow in the footsteps of the young girl they first meet as Adelaide Wilson as she innocently ventures through a mirror funhouse at the Santa Cruz boardwalk and has a fateful and traumatic encounter with her tethered doppelgänger, an event that will forever alter both of their lives.  The harrowing experience will then transition to present day, thrusting guests into the chaos of “The Tethered” uprising as they emerge from their tunnels to murder their privileged doubles in a nationwide coordinated act of rebellion.

“It’s very exciting to know that fans of Us will get to experience firsthand the terror of being stalked and tormented by ‘The Tethered.’ It’s been a lifelong ambition of mine to create a monster that would scare people on Halloween, so having ‘The Tethered’ join such esteemed company is a dream come true,” said Jordan Peele.

“Jordan Peele has put his indelible stamp on a new genre of psychological horror films with the Academy Award®-winning movie, Get Outand the critically-acclaimed film, Us,” said John Murdy, Executive Producer, “Halloween Horror Nights,” Universal Studios Hollywood.  “And, it’s an honor to have the opportunity to work with him and his talented team to bring his unique vision for Us to life as a ‘living horror movie’ as part of ‘Halloween Horror Nights.’”

“The idea that ‘we are our own worst enemy and the visuals around that notion are what made the story of Us so compelling, personal and exciting for our design team to translate,” said Michael Aiello, Sr. Director of Entertainment Creative for Universal Orlando Resort. “Surrounding our guests in that horrific world of duality Jordan Peele created is a perfect fit for Universal’s ‘Halloween Horror Nights.’”

Universal Studios’ “Halloween Horror Nights” is the ultimate Halloween event. For more than 25 years, guests from around the world have visited “Halloween Horror Nights” to become victims within their own horror film.  Multiple movie-quality mazes based on iconic horror television shows, films and original stories come to life season after season. And, the streets of each park’s event are transformed into highly-themed scare zones where menacing scare-actors lunge from every darkened corner.

“Halloween Horror Nights” begins Friday, September 6 in Orlando and on Friday, September 13 in Hollywood. Additional details about the events will be revealed soon. All tickets for Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort are on sale now. Disney Shares Fall After Earnings Miss

Disney Shares Fall After Earnings Miss

Disney shares fall after earnings from their third quarter and nine months earnings for fiscal 2019. The document in-depth and full of figures but here at Chipandco.com, we are providing the key points! For those interested in the document, click here!

Key Points

  • Disney missed expectations for earnings and revenue in its fiscal third-quarter results released on Tuesday.
  • The stock fell as much as 3.7% in after-hours trading.
  • The company showed increased losses in its streaming segment due to its investments in streaming services Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney+.

Here are the key numbers:

  • Earnings per share: $1.35 vs. $1.75 per share, according to Refinitiv estimates
  • Revenue: $20.25 billion vs. $21.47 billion, per Refinitiv

What Did Disney Have to Say?

In response to shares fall after earnings, Disney blamed the earnings miss on the ongoing integration with Fox which was finalised back in March for $71 billion.

The Walt Disney Company’s Studio Entertainment reported revenues of $3.8 billion during this quarter, which is a 33% increase a year on!

Likewise, Disney’s Media Networks unit reported revenues of $6.7 billion, which is a 21% increase a year on. Furthermore, the Parks reported revenues of $6.6 billion during this quarter which is a 7% increase in revenues a year on!

The direct-to-consumer segment reported revenues of $3.86 billion during this period and the operating losses increasing to $553 million from $168 million. The Walt Disney Company attributed the losses on Hulu, increased investments in ESPN+ and the new Disney+ streaming services. Disney+ is slated to launch in November at a cost of $6.99 per month, or $69.99 per year. The service will feature content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and more. Hulu, ESPN + and Disney + bundle will be $13.99 a month, which is a similar cost to Netflix’s standard subscription plan.

Whilst Disney + will not have as much content as Netflix, Iger believes that the strength of Disney, Marvel and Star Wars will lure loyal customers. Iger also said that Disney + will launch in two international markets when it lands in November and is set to expand to additional markets over the next two to three years!

Furthermore, the Walt Disney Company also said they expect direct-to-consumer losses to rise to $900 million in the fiscal fourth quarter, as it continues to invest in content for Disney+.

Iger said Disney hopes to re-imagine popular Fox titles like “Home Alone,” “Night at the Museum,” “Cheaper by the Dozen” and “Diary of a Whimpy Kid” on Disney+ to attract more customers, with other programmes such as Loki, Lady & the Tramp and Star Wars in the works!

Alternatively, Cable Networks revenues have increased to 24% year-over-year to $4.5 billion during the quarter, whilst operating income increased 15% to $1.6 billion. The company attributed the income to the consolidation of Fox’s FX and National Geographic networks, as well as higher advertising revenues at ESPN, driven by two additional NBA finals games. It should also be noted that there has been an increase in programming and production costs, as a result of contractual rate increases for MLB and NBA programming and new rights for boxing and mixed martial arts.

Last month, Disney’s “Avengers: Endgame” became the highest-grossing film of all time, raking in $2.79 billion at the global box office and surpassing previous chart-topper “Avatar’s” record. The success of “Endgame,” as well as other titles like “Captain Marvel,” “The Lion King,” “Toy Story 4″ and “Aladdin,” could help Disney earn more than $9 billion at the global box office this year.

What do you think about Disney shares fall after earnings? Do you think the streaming services will be successful?

‘The Great Mouse Detective’ May Be Getting A Live-Action Remake

'The Great Mouse Detective' May Be Getting A Live-Action Remake

The Great Mouse Detective‘ May Be Getting A Live-Action Remake’. According to a reliable source close to WeGotThisCovered.com, the next film on Disney’s Live-Action Remake list is none other than The Great Mouse Detective.

For those who may not be as familiar with The Great Mouse Detective here is a short synopsis of the film: “Basil embarks on the greatest case of his career when London’s master toymaker is kidnapped. He ends up pitting his wits against his old adversary, Professor Ratigan, who wants to become `supreme ruler of all mousedom’.”

'The Great Mouse Detective' May Be Getting A Live-Action Remake

Disney Fans who grew up during the Disney Renaissance, may remember that it started with the release of The Little Mermaid, but the studio only got the go-ahead to continue making movies after The Great Mouse Detective proved the studio could create great content if given the chance to redeem themselves after the total flop that was Disney’s The Black Cauldron, which nearly bankrupted the studio.

Basil and the gang stepped in and proved that even movies without Walt Disney’s direct influence or approval could do well in theaters, and so The Disney Renaissance was born.

'The Great Mouse Detective' May Be Getting A Live-Action Remake

The remake is rumored to be filmed in real locations, with the characters animated into the film after shooting, similarly to The Lion King (2019) and the upcoming untitled ‘Chip and Dale’ film. With both Aladdin and The Lion King Live-Action Remakes making over $1 Billion EACH, it looks like the trend is here to stay for as long as they keep being some of the most profitable projects ever by Disney.

'The Great Mouse Detective' May Be Getting A Live-Action Remake

What are your thoughts on the live-action remakes? Do you love them or hate them? Which films do you think Disney should do next? Or should they stop and focus on creating new content? Let us know what you think in the comments! We would love to hear your opinion.

As always, be sure to check back here at Chip and Company for all things Disney!
