Epcot Skyliner Building Construction Update

epcot gondola construction

Back in the summer of 2017, we reported that the Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts announced that there would be a new mode of transportation throughout the Disney Resorts.

Epcot Skyliner Building Construction Update

Thus, the Disney Skyliner gondolas were born. The Skyliner will connect Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, plus other locations with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot.

Today we have an update for the Epcot Skyliner, The Skyliner is set to open September 29th. This may be our final update before it opens to the public.

Epcot Skyliner Building Construction Update

As you can see, the construction workers seem to be putting the finishing touches on the roof of the boarding area.

Epcot Skyliner Building Construction Update

You can watch the gondolas go back and forth on the wires, helping us get a better view of the characters that decorate them.

Epcot Skyliner Building Construction Update

The construction walls are still blocking most of our view, but you can see some of the swan mural.

We are officially one month away from seeing the overhead views that the Skyliner will give us.

Wet Weather Could Be Ahead With Tropical System Dorian On The Way

Wet Weather Could Be Ahead With Tropical System Dorian On The Way

Wet Weather Could Be Ahead With Tropical System Dorian On The Way. Recently upgraded to a Cat 1 Hurricane at the time of writing, Tropical System Dorian is expected to make landfall sometime between late Saturday night through Monday morning.

With a major weather impact possible over the holiday weekend in Central Florida, here are some things you should be prepared for incase of extreme weather while traveling.

The various theme parks in Central Florida will take several types of precautions. It is not uncommon for the resorts around the major theme parks to include Weather Preparedness Pamphlets in guest rooms when severe weather including Tropical Storms, Tropical Depressions, and Hurricanes are expected. The pamphlets usually include information such as: disruptions in service of hotel rooms, limited food and beverage locations that will remain open or closed during major storms, entertainment offerings for those who remain in their resort room to ride out the storm, etc. Be sure to read your pamphlet throughly and speak with a member of the front desk staff for any clarification or questions you may have.

Some resorts and hotels will lift their pet bans/restrictions so your furry friends can ride out the storm safely with you in your hotel room. If you plan on staying at a hotel to ride out a storm, be sure to double check with the resort or hotel about their pet policy during extreme weather. Prime example: Disney was very public about allowing pets in hotel rooms that are normally restricted because they want everyone to be safe during bad weather.

Though the storms may be over, it is a good idea to remain cautious while walking around after the storms. With varying levels of debris around the resorts and parks you may be asked to remain in your hotel room while clean up crews come through and pick up the mess left by the storm. Be sure to report any major concerns with the front desk of your resort and for your safety please stay clear of any fallen trees or power lines.

As a result of heavy debris some rides and parks may remain closed after the weather clears while clean up is under way. Be sure to prepare yourself for the possibility that your favorite rides or attractions may not be available during your stay.

Major hotels and resorts may offer unique entertainment options including character appearances, children’s activities, trivia games, film streaming, and more to guests. Some resorts and hotels also offer a waiver of fees for television entertainment in your hotel room during your stay.

Guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort may notice emergency response vehicles being housed in the theme park and resort parking lots. As a precaution, emergency vehicles from other states are commonly sent to areas where heavy storms are expected and arrive ahead of landfall. Disney World allows them to utilize their facilities to help with storm recovery. This is common procedure so don’t be panicked if you see utility trucks arriving by the dozen to Disney World.

In extreme situations such as hurricanes, theme parks may be closed or evacuated and resorts may be locked down, meaning you are to remain in your hotel room or in staged community areas or “ride-out” zones. Be sure to follow ALL instructions given to you by employees and emergency services.

For tips specifically about Hurricane procedures at the various parks including: Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, Legoland USA, and SeaWorld, be sure to check out this link: hurricane-policies-orlandos-major-theme-parks-281513

The best thing to do in extreme weather is to use common sense and don’t put yourself or other in danger by ignoring weather warnings, instructions from authorized personal, and remain calm. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday weekend, no matter how wet it gets!

TSA Bans “Thermal Detonator” Coca-Cola Bottles from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

TSA Bans "Thermal Detonator" Coca-Cola Bottles from Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

TSA Bans “Thermal Detonator” Coca-Cola Bottles from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Bright Suns, Travelers! Before you think of bringing these exclusive Coca-Cola bottles home from your trip to Disneyland or Walt Disney World’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge you may want to rethink how you plan on getting them home.

An inquisitive fan reached out to TSA (Transportation Security Administration) via twitter to see if the specially designed Coca-Cola Bottles that resemble thermal detonators from the Star Wars films would be allowed in their luggage for a flight.

@DarkAshNet asked: “@AskTSA I know these look dodgy, but can they be packed in suitcase? Thanks.” With a promo shot of the bottles.

@AskTSA replied: “Thanks for asking! Replica and inert explosives aren’t allowed in either carry-on or checked bags.”

“Replica items are not allowed on aircraft,” said TSA spokesperson Jim Gregory, “It could create concern that it’s the real thing.”

So if you were planning on visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and wanted to bring a few of these home as collectibles, you may want to look at shipping them home via USPS, FedEx, or UPS, before heading to the airport. If you do decide to pack them don’t be surprised if they are removed from your luggage or if you get stopped by TSA security at screening. They will make you dispose of the bottles and it could cause an unnecessary disturbance or delay in your trip home.

YouTube player

“.”We have a long history with Coca-Cola, dating back to the opening of Disneyland Park and the “Refreshment Corner” on Main Street, U.S.A. in 1955 and it’s a pleasure to continue to work with this amazing team on such a groundbreaking experience,” says Disney about the partnership, “These unique Coca-Cola products were created with storytelling in mind and are unlike anything we’ve done before.”

Though Disney is excited to bring you this one of a kind design, the TSA would appreciate you taking the time to either dispose of the bottles or shipping them home in another fashion prior to your trip to the airport.

Be sure to share this with your friends and family traveling to a galaxy far, far away! As always, check back here at Chip and Company for all things Star Wars.

Galactic Kipling Star Wars Styles for Galaxy’s Edge Opening

Kipling Star Wars Styles

Galactic Kipling Star Wars Styles for Galaxy's Edge Opening

Star Wars; Galaxy’s Edge lands at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, tomorrow August 29th! If you’re looking for the perfect way to accessorize, you can still grab Kipling Star Wars Styles online, and at the Kipling Store in Disney Springs!

Two durable styles ready to take on the treacherous landscape of Batuu is the Dark Side pouch, and Vader backpack.

Galactic Kipling Star Wars Styles for Galaxy's Edge Opening

The Vader backpack is an extra large style big enough for a laptop, with multiple compartments for keeping all of your supplies and rations organized! The harrowing image of Darth Vader lurking in the steam of the Death Star peers out as an all over graphic on the front. I can almost hear his deep voice saying “I find your lack of faith disturbing” when I see this backpack.

Galactic Kipling Star Wars Styles for Galaxy's Edge Opening

Although the pouch is smaller, it is my favorite piece from this collection. The large Kipling pouches are great for stashing exactly what you need, and you can carry it alone, or toss it in a larger bag. The black and white contrasts on this bag really frame vader for an intimidating look. My favorite part is the subtle red glow of his beaming red lightsaber. The lightsaber casts an eerie red glow over his helmet and shoulders perfectly.

Which of these Kipling Star Wars Styles would you carry for exploring Batuu when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lands in Hollywood Studios?

Scrumptious Fall Treats Are Making Things Sweet At Walt Disney World

Scrumptious Fall Treats Are Making Things Sweet At Walt Disney World

If you’re planning a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort soon then you must make a stop at the All-Star Movies Resort. They have just released four, yes four! Brand new fall-themed treats. These delicious snacks can be found all at the food court in the same case. Let’s dig further into these new scrumptious treats.

Jack’s Hallow- Lime Cupcake

Scrumptious Fall Treats Are Making Things Sweet At Walt Disney World Scrumptious Fall Treats Are Making Things Sweet At Walt Disney World

First up is the Jack’s Hallow- Lime Cupcake. This cupcake is a vanilla flavored white cake with lime flavored frosting. The whipped frosting was really delicious and not heavy like some buttercream options. The Jack Skellington is made up of chocolate. There’s also a fun little tube filled with lime goo! You can drizzle it right on top of your cupcake for extra tart lime flavor.

Scrumptious Fall Treats Are Making Things Sweet At Walt Disney World

This Pumpkin King cupcake is $5.99 or a snack credit. It’s the perfect pregame snack before the Halloween party.

Chai Latte Cupcake

Next up on our list is another cupcake. The Chai Latte Cupcake screams fall. This spiced dessert is a chocolate cake with Chai Latte flavored frosting. There was a lot of frosting on this cupcake and the flavor was very overpowering. While I enjoy a chai tea it wasn’t my favorite in the frosting. I wish they maybe went with a lighter frosting and a spice flavored cake.

Scrumptious Fall Treats Are Making Things Sweet At Walt Disney World

Scrumptious Fall Treats Are Making Things Sweet At Walt Disney World

This cupcake was my least favorite out of the four new treats. The cake was bland and dry and the frosting too much. I do wish they went with a simpler frosting and a spiced cake. This Chai Latte Cupcake is $5.49 or a snack credit.

Spiced Pumpkin Cheesecake

Hey lovers of Pumpkin Spice! This one’s for you. The Spiced Pumpkin Cheesecake is next on our list and was so yummy! The actual cheesecake base was traditional and didn’t have any additional flavors but was so good. The flavors were in the dark chocolate drizzle and the spiced pumpkin mousse topping.

Scrumptious Fall Treats Are Making Things Sweet At Walt Disney World Scrumptious Fall Treats Are Making Things Sweet At Walt Disney World

This was a really delicious option to get you in the fall spirit. Even if it’s still blazing hot here in Florida. The cheesecake was soft and I loved the added flavors of the spiced pumpkin. It wasn’t too overpowering and it was light. This cheesecake was $5. 29 or a snack credit.

Queen’s Poison Apple Tart

I saved the best for last! My favorite of the new treats was this wickedly delicious Queen’s Poison Apple Tart. The tart is a butter crust that is filled with cinnamon spiced apples and topped by a cinnamon panna cotta. Green icing drips down the apple to look like poison. The Evil Queen worked hard on this creation and it paid off. The flavor combo was amazing and I loved the actual diced apples inside.

Scrumptious Fall Treats Are Making Things Sweet At Walt Disney World Scrumptious Fall Treats Are Making Things Sweet At Walt Disney World

You seriously won’t want just one bite of this! The base of the tart was really soft and easy to cut through. The panna cotta was a nice touch and pulled all the flavors together. This not so poison apple dessert tart was $5.99 or a snack credit.

Scrumptious Fall Treats Are Making Things Sweet At Walt Disney World

All four of these delicious new fall treats were found at the All-Star Movies resort. Make sure to stop by and pick one up (or all four, for research purposes). Which one would you run to go get? Like all seasonal treats make sure you get them soon, they won’t last long.

Folks sure are anxiously awaiting the new Disney Plus Streaming Service that is slated for November 12th this year. During the D23 Expo in California this past week a lot more details came to fruition. One mentionable detail is that there will be no R-Rating content on the Disney+ Streaming Service. It will be a family-oriented app, with great content the entire family can enjoy. All of the movies and series will have a rating of PG-13 or under.

What does this mean for movies such as “Deadpool”? It along with many other Fox-owned movies or Series with R-ratings will not be a part of Disney+. Others such as “Princess Bride” and shows such as “The Simpsons” will be available on the app. It is set to have tons of Disney classics, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic offerings. Don’t worry grownup, some new things to get excited about would be the new “Star Wars” series The Mandalorian and the Ewan McGregor lead Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars Series that will be on the app. The Loki Series and The Falcon and the Winter Solider Series sound amazing. Between the StarWars and Marvel content, I am totally fangirling right now! It’s ok I know I am not alone.   Also the new Christmas Movie “Noelle” and “Lady and The Tramp” , which will be featured on the streaming service are sure to draw a lot of attention. The question will be what to watch first?! The options seem endless!

No R-Rated Content for Family friendly Disney+

Important details you should know about the new service are that it will be 4k Ultra HD viewing. There will be unlimited downloading and re-downloading on up to 10 devices. You can simultaneously stream on four devices, and it will be commercial-free content. This app is a game-changer! Sign me up! For more info on Disney+ follow Chip and Company.
