Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is getting recognition from more than just theme park guests! The music of the new themed land sets the mood and atmosphere of Baatu. The instrumental music might soon win a GRAMMY award.

Legendary composer John Williams created the soundtrack for the world of Baatu in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. His original theme “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Symphonic Suite” is nominated for a GRAMMY award in the “Best Instrumental Composition” category. John Williams has been composing the iconic music of Star Wars ever since the first movie in 1977. He’s led a celebrated career in Hollywood with his music for other famous movies such as the Indiana Jones franchise.

More Praise for Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is receiving additional award recognition. The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) recognizes the new themed land with two Thea Awards for Outstanding Achievement. The awards are for “Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run” and the land itself.

Also, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) gave three Brass Ring Awards to Disney for the immersive products and atmosphere entertainment found in Galaxy’s Edge.

The 61st GRAMMY awards ceremony is scheduled for February 10th, 2020.

Extended Park Hours Released to Prepare for ROTR

We are as giddy as a school girl! Soon Rise of the Resistance will be available for guests who visit Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. To prepare, Disney has extended park hours to accommodate the influx of guests! Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is set to open on December 5th in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort and in Disneyland Park at Disneyland Resort on January 17th.

“This harrowing adventure will blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. You will join the Resistance and depart from Batuu in a transport ship to meet General Leia Organa at a secret rendezvous point. Along the way, however, you will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. The action then ramps up as you seek to escape the clutches of Kylo Ren and the First Order – with the help of some heroes of the Resistance.” With this description of the attraction, even the smallest of Star Wars fans are excited! There is no wonder Disney is preparing for opening day.

With Rise of the Resistance opening first at Walt Disney World on December 5, 2019, Walt Disney World has extended park hours for that day. Hollywood Studios will open at 8 a.m. and close at 10 p.m.

Around the rest of Walt Disney World, Rise of the Resistance will affect the hours at other parks too.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom will now open at 8 a.m. on that date with Extra Magic Hours beginning at 7 a.m. Epcot will also open at 8 a.m. with Extra Magic Hours beginning at 7 a.m.

A First Look at Disney’s Riviera Resort’s ‘Primo Piatto’ Menu Cooks Up Excitement

Disney’s Riviera Resort is scheduled to open Dec. 16 as the newest Disney Vacation Club Resort. The menu for the Primo Piatto restaurant inside of the resort has even been released. The resort has a classic European inspired design with modern touches- and the food does not stray far from this theme as well.

Primo Piatto, will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner specialties and have everything from breakfast pizzas to mojitos.

Each food offering is around $14.99 or less, with dinner specialties being a tad more expensive.

There are even plant-based options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and they sound delicious! The rest of the menu is full of hearth baked pizzas, hot and cold sandwiches, salads, various entrees and sides, desserts, snacks, kids meals, and of course, fun-filled drinks for the grown ups!

New Star Wars Trilogy and Director Set to Be Announced in January 2020. Recently, Disney released an updated premiere date list for theatrical releases between 2020 and 2023. Though many titles have been expected, such as a 5th Indiana Jones film and Avatar Sequels, one title has fans buzzing. An untitled Star Wars film is set to be released in late 2022, with two sequels expected to premiere in 2024 and 2026.

According to a report from THR, Disney and Lucasfilm are not just releasing more independent Star Wars stories. The studios plan to move forward with a brand new trilogy, formerly designed to be run by ‘Game of Thrones‘ writers, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff. The ‘GOT‘ pair backed out of the project over fears of backlash from the Star Wars fanbase, after previously dealing with tons of backlash over the final season of Game of Thrones. Another Star Wars trilogy is already in development from Director, Rian Johnson (The Last Jedi), but this new trilogy THR speaks of, will be a whole different set of stories taking place within the Star Wars universe.

THR shared, “Sources say Kennedy [Lucasfilm President] has a film on deck for 2022, but not the one being developed by The Last Jedi filmmaker Rian Johnson. (No announcement is planned until January.) Kennedy’s contract is up in 2021, so whether she will be on the job when this film is completed is not clear.”

It was also reported previously by THR that Marvel Studios’ newly appointed Chief Creative Officer, Kevin Feige, would try his hat at creating a new Star Wars Story after spitballing ideas with Disney Executive Alan Horn and Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy at a meeting earlier this year. Though it seems no concrete plans are yet in place, this could be the project Feige was reported to be interested in cultivating, but with the future of Marvel Studios in his hands, it’s likely Feige will merely oversee creative direction for a Star Wars film in a more hands-off role.

No formal statements about the new trilogy is expected until January 2020, leaving us to wonder, after the premiere of The Rise of Skywalker on December 20th, what’s next for Star Wars?

It will be very exciting to see where the Star Wars franchise is headed and what new stories are out there to discover a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

Attention Space Cadets! Mission Control needs you to join the crew at Space 220 Restaurant for an expedition like no other as part of the latest cutting-edge and out-of-this-world restaurant. The International Space Station is suspended 220 miles above the Earth’s surface and assists in delivering an unmatched intergalactic dining experience complete with stellar views and gourmet menu offerings.

Minnie Mouse Featured As a Style Icon in the ‘Who What Wear’ Holiday Issue

The Who What Wear Holiday Issue was just released and features cover star, Vanessa Hudgens, rising Gen-Z dancer Charlize Glass, and makeup artist Patrick Ta. All of these amazing artists have used their true inspiration to create these awesome holiday trends- Minnie Mouse!

Vanessa Hudgens, lover of all things Minnie Mouse and a Disney star herself, explains, “To me, Minnie is legendary.” Hudgens uses Minnie’s classic sense of polka dots and fun hats and puts a modern twist on it. Maybe Minnie Mouse should try wearing chokers and boots if they look this great on Hudgens!

If you’d like to steal pieces from Hudgens’s photoshoot, feel free to shop the look! Some of Hudgens’s outfits are listed at the bottom of her feature so you can unlock your inner Minnie Mouse too!

Charlize Glass is another iconic woman inspired by Minnie Mouse! Glass, the 17 year old dancer and choreographer loves Minnie’s style- especially her classic bow! Minnie Mouse inspires Glass to live life boldly: “Minnie inspires me to stay playful…while staying true to who I am,” comments Glass. Stealing Minnie’s style and confidence? Way to go, girl!

Of course we can’t forget about Patrick Ta, who has created flawless makeup looks for stars including Gigi Hadid and Shay Mitchell. “She’s [in reference to Minnie Mouse] classic, bold, playful, and lives for stepping outside of the box,” Ta states. Ta recognizes Minnie’s flawlessly fun looks and recreated a couple of holiday makeup looks.

The creative makeup artist put together a look complete with a classic red lip and glamourous highlight to embody how Minnie Mouse is always put together. Another look is full of glitzy rhinestones- pulling inspiration from Minnie’s go-to polka dot outfits.

Epcot Festival Of The Holidays Spirit Jersey Coming Soon

Epcot Festival of the Holidays Returns November 29th, and with it comes a fun new Spirit Jersey! The Festival Of The Holidays Spirit Jersey features Chip ‘n Dale, and a strands of very merry lights! This fanciful jersey will only be available at Epcot for the event too.

There have been lots of holiday Spirit Jerseys at Disney this season, but this one is one of my favorites. It is a gorgeous winter blue, with Christmas lights, and ornaments wrapping around the bottom yoke of the jersey. Chip ‘n Dale are in high spirit for the holidays as the swing across the Christmas bulbs, and lights. The front also features Spaceship Earth as a Christmas ornament, for the festival’s logo.

The back of the Spirit Jersey is screen printed with the cheerful faces of our delightful holiday chipmunks. Across the back of the jersey reads “I’m Nuts for the Holidays”, and really it’s true! Whimsical snowflakes accent the lettering, to add an extra touch of wintery fun.

Coco Souvenir Mug Now Available At Walt Disney World

The adorable Coco Souvenir Mug from Pixar Fest at the Disneyland Resort has finally made its way to walt Disney World. We found this fun mug available with Conga at Epcot. Conga is a Mexican fruit punch that is sweet, but not too sweet.

The mug is available at the Mexico Pavilion at Epcot. It comes filled with Conga Punch for just $14.00. This beverage makes a cute mocktail too. Although a hard plastic, the mug looks as if it was hand sculpted from terracotta and painted with a portrait of Miguel, in his calacas form.

A New DVC Property Might be Coming to Disneyland!

A new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) property might be coming to the Disneyland Resort! Disney has proposed a new 12-story DVC tower next to the Disneyland Hotel. They had originally planned a 700-room luxury hotel to be built at the western end of Downtown Disney District but the plug got pulled on that project.

On Friday, Nov. 22 Disneyland submitted an application to the city of Anaheim for a conceptual development review of a new 350-room DVC tower. A hotel laundry facility and some other behind-the-scenes structures would need to be removed to make room for the new tower.

Disney has not yet set a start date for the project, but it is not expected to be completed before 2022. The look and theme of the new DVC property will complement the classic 1955 Disneyland Hotel. The project area is located in a grassy area between South Walnut St and the Disneyland Hotel’s Frontier Tower, swimming pool and convention center.

If the project is approved, the new DVC resort would create 550 construction jobs and 100 timeshare operations jobs. It would also increase Disneyland’s timeshare capacity nearly sixfold – adding to the 71 DVC rooms at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

The Disney Vacation Club debuted in 1991 as a flexible, points-based membership system rather than the traditional fixed-week timeshare model. A Disney Vacation Club membership costs a minimum of $18,800 plus closing costs starting at $556 and annual dues that start at $66 a month or $792 annually.

The newest DVC resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, is set to open at the Walt Disney World Resort next month and another DVC resort is planned to be added near the Magic Kingdom in 2022. Since most of the Disney Vacation Club resorts are located in Florida, this new DVC tower would be a great addition to the Disneyland Resort!

If you are visiting the Disneyland Resort during this holiday season then make sure to check out Black Tap in Downtown Disney, where you will be able to enjoy a delicious Chocolate Peppermint Shake available from December 9 through December 31.

This shake features a chocolate frosted rim with crushed peppermint topped with a peppermint chocolate chunk cheesecake slice, whipped cream and chocolate syrup. We are already drooling!
