Disney’s ‘Up’ Elopement Photoshoot Proves Adventure Is Out There

Disney up elopement photoshoot

Adventure really is out there- especially for this creative couple inspired by Carl and Ellie‘s epic love story from Disney’s, Up!

Disney’s ‘Up’ Elopement Photoshoot Proves Adventure Is Out There

Photographer Suzanne Grage captured the elopement perfectly. With the couple surrounded by beautiful vintage items, it clearly wasn’t hard to create an aesthetically pleasing background. The couple posed in front of a variety of places, including a school, a car from the 1940s, and while on a picnic. The classic hot air balloon basket, macaroons, and mint green Chevy bring us back to a much simpler time.

And of course, you can’t forget about the most important part of the Disney movie, Upballoons! The plot of the movie wouldn’t have gone on without them. The eloping couple knew this fully well and added an assortment of large, brightly colored balloons to the top of their hot air balloon basket.

Ugly “Sweeter” Bread is sure to be a funny favorite, starting off as a Cinnamon brioche, decorated with eggnog icing and holiday light decorations, ending up as something perhaps ugly but definitely delicious;

Jingle Bell Pops come in threes and are dark chocolate truffles taking on a crushed peppermint flavor, dipped in dark chocolate.

The drink menu isn’t left out of the Christmas fun either. Cinnamon Bells is a Fireball-based drink with lots of cream and cinnamon, Santa Hat Mojito starts off with Bacardi and mint and is garnished with lemon-lime foam and a candy cane, White Christmas Margarita is quite a boozy treat with Rumchata, Malibu, and Sauza Tequila, topped off with white cranberry juice and whole cranberries, while Jock’s Holiday Nog has vodka, Frangelico, Rumchata, and vanilla creamer. You can bet your bottom dollar these will all be dressed up for a holiday party too!

Tron Coaster Reaches Construction Milestone at Magic Kingdom

TRON Lightcycle Run

2021 seems like a long time away for roller coaster fans who are currently awaiting the opening of the Tron Lightcycle coaster at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. The project has already been underway for two years, but recently reached a major milestone in its construction: the final piece of track has been installed!

The ride itself is over 3000 feet of track; it started out divided into over 120 pieces that needed to be laid. The coaster is inspired by the Tron Lightcycle ride at Shanghai Disneyland, which has received widespread attention and positive reviews since its opening in 2016.

The construction site is next to Space Mountain in Tomorrowland, the perfect spot to accommodate fans of fast rides and futuristic environments. The lightcycles that guests will board were recently unveiled at this year’s D23 Expo, as were the Cast Member uniforms for the ride.

The entire project team came out to celebrate this momentous occasion and recognize the results of their hard work. They all seem as excited to share the experience with guests as guests are excited to test out the ride for themselves. It’s only a matter of time now. TRON Lightcycle Run is set to open in 2021, just in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration!

Viewing Pixar’s Float As A Special Needs Parent

Float

Viewing Pixar's Float As A Special Needs Parent

When Disney+ launched I was amongst many other Disney fans excited to load it up and check it out on launch day. However, what I did not expect was that the adorable looking “Float” would leave me feeling a million different emotions at once. I had no idea that the second thing I watched on Disney+ that day would leave me reflecting on being the mother of a child with special needs. This is how Float affected me, and I will admit, I’m tearing up as I write this.

Caution: Spoilers ahead, if you haven’t seen Float yet there will be spoilers in this article.

Float

I’ve always enjoyed Pixar Shorts, so I was so excited to flip on the new app for SparkShorts, and watch beloved favorites, and the newest one Float. First we watched Purl, that ball of yarn really does make me smile. Then the new Float, it seemed whimsical and exciting about a child who could as the title suggests, float. The scene opens on a new father and his child, as the father blows a dandelion for his bouncing baby boy, that child takes flight in excitement. At first the father is instantly amazed and in awe of his child, before realizing others might think it is strange. Sure enough the first people to encounter the child’s new found ability seem disturbed and run off.

This is where I started to realize, maybe this won’t be so “light” hearted after all. We fast forward to the father and son hiding in a darkened home. There is worry, fear, and also a hint of panic. See, I knew these emotions well, and I knew them in the context they were presented. These are some of the emotions that you go through when your child is diagnosed with a disability, or other label.

Hiding

Float

Just like our strong and resilient children though, our floating star doesn’t realize there is anything different. He smiles brightly and marches on, while dad is afraid of encounters. As they pass a family with a non floating child, the father ducks and hides. I’ve been there, the anxiety of my child interacting with another. The anxiety of the impending questions like, “why does he talk funny”, or “why does he do that?” It’s these little things we don’t like to confront. The relief of this scene though? Is that for the first time in a while, I didn’t feel alone. Yes my husband understands, and I have other parent friends that go through this. However there was something about it being on the screen, that made me feel comforted.

Float

Then comes the pinnacle moment of the film. The child wants to go to the playground with all of the other kids. Dad says no, but he goes anyways. Of course, he also floats. The father rushes to grab him, and pulls him out. While another scene many of us know so well unfolds. A tantrum, he doesn’t want to leave, he doesn’t understand he has done something “wrong”. Because he has NOT done something wrong, unfortunately it is everyone else seeing it that way.

As he cries and shouts, the father grabs him and screams the one line in the entire film. My heart shattered into a million pieces all in one moment. I instantly was hit with every moment I made my son’s disability about my own anxiety and fear, over his. It was a heart wrenching cry, but also cathartic. I realized in this moment I am not alone, and my shame of how situations are sometimes handled is shared. All those moments curled up crying, all those moments of feeling overwhelmed and desperate. All of these moments washed over me like a towering wave. Yet by the end of the film, these moments were washing away, and I didn’t feel so ashamed of them anymore.

Acceptance

Viewing Pixar's Float As A Special Needs Parent

Let me be clear, we don’t want our children to be “normal”. We love who they are and everything about them. What we fear, is anyone else making them feel less for not fitting in. It is a fear and anxiety that subconsciously seeps into every aspect of life. When they go to school, will kids make fun of them? While on the playground, while grocery shopping, while out to eat, in all of these moments will my child be safe? In the end the father lets it all go, and simply enjoys his beautiful child. Which we should all do, but we know that is a journey.

The writer and producer of this film Bobby Rubio, knows all these things well. He created Float based on his own personal story of his son. His son Alex was diagnosed with autism at age two, and this short was inspired by the challenge of raising him.

What Float also does is let everyone relate. The extraordinary ability to float can be a stand in for any thing that a parent or child has trouble coming to terms with, not just autism, not just disabilities, anything.

As a mom with a child who has Neurofibromatosis type 1, it was refreshing to see something I could relate to on a core basis. Often times we forget that children with special needs don’t fit into a little bubble we have created for them either.

We all have different experiences, and our journeys are not all the same. What Float does though, is help us realize we are not alone. We have all made mistakes in our parenting, but we can move on, and we are still being the best parents we can be.

What were your takeaways from the Pixar Short, Float?

New Walt Disney World Commercial Pulls At Every Parents Heartstrings

New Walt Disney World Commercial Pulls At Every Parents Heartstrings

New Walt Disney World Commercial Pulls At Every Parents Heartstrings. A new commercial for Walt Disney World Resort touches every parent who simply blinks and suddenly their kid is not so little anymore “because they’re only little for a little while.”

YouTube player

The commercial follows a little girl and her family walking up to meet Cinderella in front of her castle. The two exchange and magical hug and the video shifts to a father watching the video of his young daughter meeting Cinderella on a previous trip to Walt Disney World Resort. We see that the young daughter is not so little anymore as she seems to be preparing to head off to college. The father and daughter share an emotional exchange as a piano rendition of “When You Wish Upon A Star” plays in the background.

Needless to say, parents everywhere are sharing how the commercial is definitely tugging at the heartstrings and having us reach for the tissues, myself included. The point of the commercial is not just to make us tear up, but to show that making magical memories lasts a lifetime. No matter how fast life moves around us, we will always have those moments. So don’t take them for granted and let time pass you by. Make those memories, you’ll be glad you did.

‘Frozen II’ Set New Records and Dominated at the Box Office on Opening Weekend

'Frozen II' Set New Records and Dominated at the Box Office on Opening Weekend

Frozen II‘ Set New Records and Dominated at the Box Office on Opening Weekend. Previously, we reported that Frozen II was predicted to make more than $100 Million the first weekend and needless to say the highly anticipated animated film smashed even the loftiest predictions.

Reports currently place Frozen II at earnings over $147 Million at the Domestic Box Office over the course of the opening weekend. With earnings like this, Frozen II has now become the highest grossing animated film released in the month of November. Frozen II has earned a total of $350 Million in Global Box Office standings. That’s more than DOUBLE the next leading film released in November. The record was previously held by Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs which earned $152 Million at the Global Box Office during its opening weekend back in 2009.

“Why was Elsa (Idina Menzel) born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna (Kristen Bell), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), Olaf (Josh Gad), and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen II,” she must hope they are enough.

From the Academy Award®-winning team—directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, producer Peter Del Vecho and songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez—and featuring the voices of Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad, comes Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen II” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 22, 2019.”

Will Boba Fett Make an Appearance in ‘The Mandalorian’?

Will Boba Fett Make an Appearance in 'The Mandalorian'?

Will Boba Fett Make an Appearance in ‘The Mandalorian’? When Disney+ was first announced and news spread about a new Star Wars series focused on a Mandalorian bounty hunter, fans immediately speculated that the series would follow the established character, Boba Fett, either following his life before the events in A New Hope, or possibly his return after miraculously surviving the Sarlacc pit from Return of the Jedi.

The closer we came to the premiere of The Mandalorian on Disney+ it became clear that the protagonist for the series was not Boba Fett, but another Mandalorian, currently being referred to as “Mando”. Though “Mando” is a slang term for a Mandalorian, and we have yet to unmask this mysterious figure or learn his true name.

The Mandalorian show runner’s, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau spoke with Entertainment Tonight during a special premiere for The Mandalorian and shared just how hard the secrets have been to keep, which makes us think they may have even more surprises up their sleeves.

ET asked Filoni about the idea of Boba Fett surviving the Sarlacc pit and possibly appearing in the series. “Interesting. I mean, there’s always possibilities, I don’t like to limit our storytelling in any way and, who knows? It would be really hypocritical for the guy who that helped bring Darth Maul back to life after he got cut in half, for me to say that somebody can’t survive a Sarlacc pit, but I don’t know. I mean, anything’s possible in Star Wars and I think, when fans love something, that’s what really fuels the possibility and the believability. So, who knows? But right now, we got Mando.”

Though Filoni does not outright answer the question, his response does leave room for the possibility that Boba Fett may make an appearance in The Mandalorian in the future. Jon Favreau also dodged the question when asked about the possibility. With how well Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau kept the secret of “Baby Yoda” it seems possible that the tight lipped producers could be holding more than one secret for the series.
