Florida Man uses stolen credit card to purchase $62,000 in Universal Orlando Vacation Packages

Florida Man uses stolen credit card to purchase $62,000 in Universal Orlando Vacation Packages

Florida Man has struck again! Fredrick Lewis, a Fort Lauderdale man, was sentenced to three years in federal prison for using stolen credit cards to buy several vacation packages at Universal Orlando between March 2018 and June 2020. His purchases totaled just over $62,000.

Florida Man uses stolen credit card to purchase $62,000 in Universal Orlando Vacation Packages

Lewis used stolen credit card numbers belonging to 36 different people. He purchased the packages through the Universal call center and called from over 20 different phone numbers to avoid detection. He and others involved would then use the tickets and hotel packages or exchange them for Universal gift cards.

In June of 2019, investigators with Universal contacted Secret Service agents after noticing Lewis had purchased several packages since March 2018 using compromised credit cards. Despite calling from so many different phone numbers, Lewis regularly gave Universal agents the same callback numbers. The Secret Service was able to use those numbers to find his social media profiles. They then matched his voice in social media videos to recordings of his conversations with Universal ticket agents.

Lewis was detained at Universal’s Volcano Bay on June 25, 2020. Lewis told a Secret Service agent “he knew what he was doing was ‘sketchy’”. The Secret Service found Lewis had been using his phone to frequently access a website that sells stolen credit card numbers.

Lewis was arrested on October 8, 2020 and pleaded guilty to the charges on January 6, 2021.

‘Wolverine’ Marvel Series “In Development” for Disney+

Wolverine in the Marvel Comics

‘Wolverine’ Marvel Series “In Development” for Disney+. According to The Hashtag Show, Disney+ and Marvel Studios are gearing up to introduce a new Marvel series featuring iconic X-Men character, Wolverine.

There have been many rumors that Wolverine will be making his MCU debut in several upcoming projects including: Captain Marvel 2, She-Hulk, Loki, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but Marvel Studios has not even confirmed Wolverine’s appearance in the MCU. The studio has shared that there are plans to introduce the X-Men, but casting information has been kept very quiet.

The Hashtag Show shares, “Marvel and Kevin Feige have been hard at work on an approach to Mutants and X-Men characters. They have the challenge of bringing a huge assortment of characters to screen in a way that is both entertaining, but also natural and seamless. My sources tell me that for the longest time Wolverine was the hardest of these characters as he’s one with a huge host of stories, but Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige are confident that an anthology series can safely explore Wolverine’s vast history without affecting any role that he would have in an X-Men film.

Marvel Studios has not confirmed any of this speculation, but has shared there is interest in exploring the many characters featured in the X-Men franchise in the MCU. It is currently unknown if the series would be live-action or animated. This is a developing story, so be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Marvel and Disney+!

New Disney Reusable Utensils And More!

Disney Reusable Utensils
Disney Reusable Utensils

Last month Disney announced they would be releasing new reusable utensils that could be purchased and used at the parks! This is part of Disney’s ongoing commitment to being more eco-friendly. The new play and repeat collection has finally shown up, and it’s so cute! It has a very neutral color scheme, and there’s plenty of little Mickey icons hidden throughout. I’m a little obsessed with the new Mickey reduce, reuse, recycle icon they came up with too.

Disney Reusable Utensils

First up is the main event, the Disney Reusable Utensils set. It has a fork, knife, spoon, and also a straw! It comes complete with a wrap holder made from sustainable materials, and a cleaning brush! The new Mickey recycle icon is sprinkled about the utensils in orange, teal, and sage too.

There are also several reusable straw options! You can get a cute little plastic pod for easy on-the-go carrying. Or even a full set with a wrap holder and straw. The set is really handy if you’re traveling as a group, and the pod is perfect for on-the-go by yourself.

These are all part of a full assortment of reusable items from this cute new play and repeat collection. You can choose from all kinds of reusable bottles and cups, as well as lunch boxes, sandwich containers, and even towels. I love that there are so many cute options now. I personally bring utensils and straws with me already, so it’ll be nice to have Disney-themed ones. It will also be handy if I lose some or need to replace some.

New Disney Reusable Utensils And More!

The dish towels are great for cleaning up unexpected spills while at the parks. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve spilled a drink and had to scramble for paper towels at a quick-serve. I would love to say it was the kids, but it’s usually me who sends a drink flying in a spectacular fashion. Plus, just look at what a handy carrying case it has!

You can find the new assortment of Disney Reusable Utensils and more now throughout the Walt Disney World Resort!

Special thanks to our local correspondents Wright Touch of Magic for the great photos.

Disney World is Hiring as more Cast Members return to work

Over on the Disney Careers Website there are some new jobs listed, from Housekeeping to Lifeguards Disney World is bringing on new Cast Members to meet the Summer demand.

Just last week Disney World extended the Theme Park hours all the way through June. Many of the parks will see earlier openings and later closings which should help with crowds.

Related – Disney World Theme Park Hours Extended for April through June

Since Disney World doesn’t release Theme Park Capacity numbers the only update we have is from a couple of months ago when Bob Chapek confirmed that the capacity is now at 35%, we can only guess that we might see an increase this summer with many people getting the COVID vaccines and Disney World starting to relax some of the Face Mask rules.

We are happy to see Cast Members returning to work and that Disney World is once again hiring. Now if we could see Disney Cruises start back up…

Potrock shared images of Cast Members on the grounds at Haunted Mansion. His post reads:

“It’s exciting to see Cast Members back in Haunted Mansion along with the Ghost Host and other spirited residents. Earlier this week we unveiled enhancements in and around the estate; an exterior refresh, new stories in the pet cemetery and the return of an old favorite of mine – the “April to December” portrait. The Mansion looks frighteningly great! The countdown to our reopening is on… and we are dying to welcome you back!”

The “April to December” portrait is one of the Mansion’s original portraits and once again graces the hallway. Guests can see it as the step closer to boarding their doom buggy.

Disneyland President Ken Potrock shares details on Haunted Mansion enhancements

April to December was an original changing portrait that featured a beautiful muse with the world “April” written in the top right of her portrait. Upon the flashes of lightning in the hallway, April slowly began aging with each new month until she turns into a frightful old lady in December, hence the “April to December” name. The portrait was replaced in 2005 but is returning to its home.
