'Disney on Ice' Celebrates 40 Years of Thrilling Entertainment

‘Disney on Ice’ Celebrates 40 Years of Thrilling Entertainment. Congratulations to Feld Entertainment and Disney on celebrating 40 years of magic on the ice! Feld Entertainment CEO Kenneth Feld wrote a special message for the celebrations, stating:

Everything you do in life starts with one small step. The first Disney On Ice show premiered in 1981 and we are still bringing happiness to generations of families 40 years later. When we started it we never knew it would last this long. Disney On Ice is ever-changing and there are always surprises for all of our Disney fans. That’s the key. As long as we continue to do that Disney On Ice will always be around. We are grateful for the 320 million-plus fans who have seen Disney On Ice in over 68 countries, the Feld Entertainment Associates who have contributed to the success and The Walt Disney Company for 40 years of Disney On Ice.

We recently sat in on a discussion with Ken and Courtney Potter (editor and writer at D23: The Official Disney Fan Club) who shared plenty of insight and stories from over the years including how the show has evolved over time and how they managed some incredible and iconic stunts! Check out the conversation in the video posted below:

Disney on Ice is a touring ice show produced by Feld Entertainment under agreement with The Walt Disney Company. Aimed primarily at children, the shows feature Disney characters in performances that each derive their music and plot from elements featured in various Disney films and properties; the “stars” of the show are credited as the Disney characters themselves. The first performance debuted on July 29, 1981, under the name Walt Disney’s World on Ice. The name was later changed in 1997 to Disney On Ice.”

Iron Man Almost Made a Cameo in the New Black Widow Film

Iron Man Almost Made a Cameo in the New Black Widow Film

Iron Man Almost Made a Cameo in the New Black Widow Film. Rumors had been swirling for months that Robert Downey Jr. would make a cameo appearance in Marvel Studios’ Black Widow. It was also known that RDJ was not thrilled by this news, especially because he found out in the same way that fans did and not from Marvel directly.

When asked during an interview with Entertainment Tonight about the rumored cameo, Robert responded in a flustered manner, “Right. Great. I mean, it would be nice if they notified me. Forewarned is forearmed. They can do anything now. This could be a deep fake interview for all we know.” Downey didn’t hang on the moment and opted to move on, but fans could tell the Iron Man star was not thrilled by the news of his appearance. He has since changed his tune, sharing earlier this year that he should “never say never” to the potential, but it seems Tony’s live-action return to the MCU will have to wait.

Fast-forward to after the movie’s premiere and we now know the moment was cut from the script, and Black Widow co-writer Eric Pearson has confirmed one of the first versions of the film did feature the cameo, but the previously deleted scene was deleted once again.

When asked by ComicBook’s Phase Zero Podcast about the rumored cameo Pearson explained, “I feel bad for the person who asked me this the other day because I said ‘there was never any discussion,’ but I do remember now that one version of the script prior to me literally had written into it ‘The end moment of Civil War with Tony and Natasha,’ but it was old footage. It would have been ‘Hey audience, remember where we are, we’re going to key off of this moment of her.’ So it wouldn’t have been Robert Downey Jr, at least to the best of my knowledge, that was the only time that I saw Tony Stark’s name in was just a flag planted reminder of ‘Hey we’re right at the end of Civil War.’

He continued, “I remember when those rumors came out I was in London in our War Room office and I just looked around and was like ‘Are we? Am I supposed to be? I have the script right here, Tony Stark’s not in it.’ Everyone was like ‘No no.’…I don’t know where it came from unless somebody got a very old version with this kind of scene, which wasn’t even a new scene. I don’t know, I don’t know where it came from.

Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. Joining Johansson in the new feature film are Florence Pugh as Yelena, David Harbour as Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz as Melina. “Black Widow”—the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige.

Epcot Food & Wine Italian Pavilion is Perfect for Families

Food from Italy Booth at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival

I could easily eat Via Napoli’s Margherita Pizza every day. Not to mention their delicious Tiramisù. But Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival is going on right now, which means new and exciting Italian bites are waiting in the Italy booth! This year’s options are sure to satisfy your hunger.

Related – New Apple Orchard Minnie Ears For The Epcot Food and Wine Festival

This is a popular location to eat, so my wait was a long one, but thankfully worthwhile! The savory dish I ended up trying was the Mezzelune Croccanti, a new addition to this year’s lineup. They are described on the menu as “Crispy Half-moon Breaded Mozzarella-filled Ravioli with Pomodoro Sauce.” The outside was well-toasted, the inside cheesy and warm without being runny. While it wasn’t particularly unusual, the sauce was flavorful and paired well with the ravioli. The dish is filling and they give you plenty, so I was happy to share with my kids. The Mezzelune Croccanti ended up being the kid-favorite of the day, so you can keep it in mind if you’re traveling as a family!

Related – Tangierine Café: Flavors of the Medina Opens for Epcot Food & Wine Festival

I also needed to try the Bomboloni for a little something sweet. These are “Cream-filled Italian Doughnuts with Raspberry Sauce and Powdered Sugar.” It’s a very straightforward dessert, but effective! There is lots of cream inside each of the donuts, so it’s not as bready as some of the donuts you’ll find at Joffrey’s or The Donut Box. It’s also less sweet than most of those donuts, so if you’re hoping for a sugar overload, you should look elsewhere. Otherwise, the raspberry sauce added a fresh flavor to the donuts, and I liked that there were several small donuts instead of one big one so that it was shareable.

Overall, it’s hard to turn down Italian food. For those of us doing the Food and Wine Festival with picky children, it’s good to know there’s a booth with plenty of bread and cheese to delight them. It’s also nice when we get to share the foods we enjoy as a family. As the Italians say “La famiglia e tutto” (family is everything). But food may be a close second.

Tangierine Café: Flavors of the Medina Opens for Epcot Food & Wine Festival

Tangierine Café: Flavors of the Medina Opens for Epcot Food & Wine Festival

If you’re anything like me, you love quick-service restaurants at Epcot. They offer some of the most diverse cuisines in Walt Disney World, much of it reasonably priced, all of it delicious! One notable exception from my recent excursions has been Tangierine Café in the Morocco Pavilion. It closed as Disney took over operations in the Morocco Pavilion, and has yet to reopen. Until now. Sort of.

Related – New Apple Orchard Minnie Ears For The Epcot Food and Wine Festival

Tangierine Café has been reimagined as a Food and Wine Festival booth. It’s called Tangierine Café: Flavors of the Medina. The menu boasts some fantastic traditional foods, as you’d expect. Try the Moroccan-Spiced Lamb, the Fried Falafel Pita, or Stone-Baked Moroccan Bread with various dips if you’re stopping in for lunch. What immediately grabbed my attention was the Pistachio Cake. I have a mild sweet tooth and this beautiful dessert was right up my alley.

Related – 2021 Epcot Food And Wine Festival Spirit Jersey Revealed

As if the pretty green coloring of the cake wasn’t fancy enough, the architects of this dessert decided to put some white chocolate with a mosaic pattern on the top. That detail is reminiscent of the cookie with apricot jam that came out recently. While it’s lovely to look at, it’s even better to eat. The cinnamon pastry cream in the center has walnuts in it, and the cake legitimately tastes of pistachio, making this a lightly sweet and spicy, but firmly nutty dessert. It’s moist, but the cream will melt in the Florida heat if you don’t eat it right away, so don’t plan to take it to your hotel for later!

Related – Mini Candied Bacon S’mores Funnel Cake wows guests at Epcot Food & Wine Festival

There are lots of interesting things to try at this temporary version of the Tangierine Café. It’s whetting my appetite for a permanent reopening! But I can’t complain too much as long as I can eat couscous and sip on Blood Orange Juice. Which menu items are you most excited to try? Let us know in the comments!

LA County Plans to Reimplement the mask mandate

LA County Plans to Reimplement the mask mandate

Last month California removed most of the state’s COVID-19 restrictions and mandates. Now, Los Angeles County is going to reimplement the mask mandate regardless of vaccination status.

Related – Disney Confirms 2000 jobs being moved from California to Florida

Beginning 11:59 p.m. Saturday, July 17, masks will be required indoors once again even if you’ve been fully vaccinated.

In recent weeks LA county has seen a rise in COVID transmission. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says LA County’s current case rate puts the area in the “substantial transmission” category which is the second-highest category.

Related – California plans to remove all capacity limits, physical distancing requirements starting June 15

LA County Health Officer Muntu Davis said reimplementing the mask mandate is a more effective strategy to combat the rising cases and the least limiting for business operations. He also said this health order is not necessarily to protect people who are fully vaccinated, but because there’s too much room for error when allowing some people to go maskless. “There may be some people who are unvaccinated and don’t want to make that known that they’re unvaccinated,” Davis added, “and that just puts others at risk.”

Universal Studios Hollywood is located in LA County. Universal already encourages all guests to wear masks while indoors but now it will be a health order.
