The pre-show was always expected to be one of the most heavily reworked areas, so beginning interior work now lets the coaster keep running while the mayhem quietly builds behind the scenes.

When the Muppets officially take over, guests will race through Hollywood with the Electric Mayhem as they scramble to make their biggest show yet. Inside the newly Muppet-managed G-Force Records, Scooter will attempt to wrangle the band while a crew of penguin audio engineers handles the gear, and yes, this will mark the debut of Scooter as an honest-to-goodness Audio-Animatronics figure. Outside, the big red guitar gets a groovy psychedelic makeover that leans into the band’s classic flair, complete with a golden piano key nod to Dr. Teeth. The track stays the same, but everything else gets turned up to eleven with that signature Muppet chaos.

For now, you can still rock out with Aerosmith through the end of 2025, even if the show intro has officially left the building. And with a fully covered studio popping up without warning, this little tweak might be our first backstage pass to the transformation already underway. Significant construction progress is now evident across the site, extending specifically to the area directly in front of the upcoming Encanto attraction.

Although Disney has been hinting at a Tropical Americas land for years, work officially began in January with the closure of Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama and the start of construction on Pueblo Esperanza. Aerial Look at Hollywood Studios’ New Monsters Inc. Land

New aerial photos shared by @bioreconstruct on X reveal significant construction progress on the upcoming Monsters, Inc. themed land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which is replacing the former Muppets Courtyard. While most existing courtyard structures will be adapted and reused, a massive, brand new building is currently under construction. This new structure is essential, as it will house the highly anticipated door roller coaster attraction.

While the MuppetVision 3D signage has been taken down from the theater, several familiar Muppets elements still stand, including the PizzeRizzo billboard and Gonzo’s Royal Flush sign. At the rear of the courtyard, vestiges of the former land remain, such as some signs and decorations around It’s A Wonderful Shop and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. Visible proof of the transformation is the large ditch currently open in front of Mama Melrose’s, indicating significant foundational or underground utility work is in progress

Further underground work is evident, with additional ditches visible between the MuppetVision 3D exit and Mama Melrose’s, hinting at the area’s upcoming transformation. The theater is expected to host a new show, while Mama Melrose’s is slated to become Harryhausen’s, the famous restaurant from the first Monsters, Inc. film.

Progress on the new door coaster is also advancing quickly; built over a former section of cast parking, concrete has recently been poured in one corner, and more structural supports are clearly visible along the foundation closest to the park area.

The construction process, as detailed by Bioreconstruct, begins with an auger drilling deep holes into the ground. These holes are subsequently filled with concrete to form pilings. After the necessary dirt is excavated, the tops of these concrete pilings are trimmed. Finally, concrete is poured into specific forms placed atop these trimmed pilings, which creates the solid floor for the new building.

This new roller coaster will mark a significant milestone for Disney, as it will be their very first suspended coaster and their inaugural attraction to feature a vertical lift.
