In partnership with global theater chains, this new label will act as a “gold star” for auditoriums, signaling to fans exactly where they can find the biggest screens and the most immersive technology.

Introducing Carter – 2026 Choc Walk Ambassador

The popular annual 5K fundraiser CHOC Walk in the Park, presented by Disneyland Resort, returns Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, to raise funds for Rady Children’s Health in Orange County, formally CHOC, a leading pediatric health care system in Southern California. Proceeds support pediatric programs, specialty care, education, and research at Rady Children’s, helping provide exceptional care to children regardless of a family’s ability to pay.

“CHOC Walk in the Park brings our community together in a truly meaningful way to support children and families,” said Kimberly Chavalas Cripe, co-president and CEO of Rady Children’s Health . “We’re grateful to Disneyland Resort and its cast members, as well as the thousands of participants whose generosity helps us give kids their best chance at happy, healthy futures.”

Now in its 34th year, CHOC Walk in the Park has become a cherished community tradition that unites individuals, companies, schools, and more to support pediatric health. Based on past CHOC Walk events, this year’s fundraiser is expected to feature 350 to 400 teams, with participants coming from across the United States and as far away as Canada, Mexico, Australia, and Japan.

Introducing the 2026 Choc Walk Ambassador. “Carter never feared going to the hospital, and the staff made our stays the best we could have hoped for during one of the scariest times of our lives,” his mother, Jamie Ankeny, shares. In memory of Carter and his battle with leukemia, which ended in 2017, Rady Children’s Health Orange County is honored to name him the 2026 CHOC Walk Ambassador.

From the start, Carter was an active, joyful child with a contagious smile who loved baseball, Disneyland, and ska music. Just after beginning full-time preschool, his family’s world changed forever. Unexplained bruises led his parents to seek answers, and soon they were sent to Rady Children’s Health Orange County (Rady Children’s), formerly CHOC.

Even in the emergency department, Carter showed off his Halloween costume and dance moves—until his family received the news every parent fears. On October 2, 2015, one month before his fifth birthday, Carter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Within 24 hours, he underwent surgery and began a grueling treatment plan that would include years of chemotherapy and countless hospital stays. Despite the heartbreak, Carter never feared the hospital. “He called the doctors, nurses, and child life staff his ‘friends,’” Jamie recalls. After a year of intense chemotherapy treatments and multiple inpatient stays, Carter returned to Kindergarten and Little League, with his dad as his coach. For a time, life felt normal again.

Then, in July 2017, the cancer returned—this time in his spine. The treatments were harsher, the side effects worse, but Carter’s spirit never wavered. Just 24 hours after being discharged from the hospital, he proudly led Team #CarterStrongForever at the 2017 CHOC Walk.

In September, Carter’s condition rapidly declined. After entering septic shock and undergoing emergency surgery, his family said their goodbyes, not expecting him to survive. Carter fought through the surgery, but his body could not recover. On October 8, 2017, he passed away from a rare infection caused by complications from chemotherapy.

“Carter was a fighter, a leukemia warrior,” Jamie says. “He faced every battle with strength and usually a smile. He showed us what it truly means to be #CarterStrong.”

Though his loss is devastating, Carter’s legacy lives on. His family continues to honor him through the CHOC Walk, raising more than $135,980 to date to support patients and families. In gratitude for the care Carter received and in honor of his enduring impact, Carter is recognized as the 2026 CHOC Walk Ambassador. Walt Disney Imagineering has revealed a fang-tastic update coming to the iconic attraction, and it is packed with more than 2,000 bats lurking inside the Rainbow Caverns scene. Yes, you read that right… this Wildest Ride in the Wilderness is about to become the most winged ride too.

According to Imagineers, the original cave scene only featured a handful of hanging bats, but thanks to modern scanning technology, the team was able to completely reimagine the space. Now, the cavern is filled with a mix of sculpted rockwork bats, clustered formations, and over 200 animated show set bats that bring the scene to life. Add in glowing eyes hidden deep in the cave and subtle movement effects created by fans, and suddenly the mine feels less abandoned and a lot more… occupied.

This eerie enhancement is just one part of a larger refurbishment that includes a brand-new track, updated ride vehicles, refreshed Audio-Animatronics, and sparkling new gold props scattered throughout the mountain. Disney has even lowered the ride’s height requirement thanks to the new ride system, making it more accessible for younger thrill seekers looking to strike gold.

A little bonjour and a tale as old as time are making their return to EPCOT very soon. Disney has confirmed that both Impressions de France and the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along will reopen on May 10, 2026, inside the France Pavilion’s Palais du Cinéma after a nearly three-month refurbishment.

The theater has been closed since February 22, 2026, with the entire Palais du Cinéma undergoing updates. While Disney has not shared exact details, refurbishments of this length typically include projection upgrades, seating improvements, and other technical enhancements to keep the experience feeling fresh while preserving its charm.

For longtime EPCOT fans, Impressions de France is one of the park’s original opening day attractions from 1982, offering a sweeping 18-minute journey through France set to a stunning classical score. The Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along joined the lineup in 2020, creating a shared schedule between the two shows. Prior to the closure, Impressions de France played in the morning and evening, while the sing-along filled the midday hours, though Disney has not yet confirmed if that schedule will remain the same when the theater reopens.

Disney Adds More April Good-to-Go Days for Annual Passholders at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World just tossed Annual Passholders a little extra pixie dust for the end of April. Disney has added four more Good-to-Go Days this month, giving Passholders even more chances to visit the parks without needing to make a park reservation first.

The newly added Good-to-Go dates are Monday, April 27, Tuesday, April 28, Wednesday, April 29, and Thursday, April 30. These join the previously announced reservation-free dates of April 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, and 23, bringing the total number of Good-to-Go Days for the month to eight. On these dates, all four types of Walt Disney World Annual Passes can be used at any of the four theme parks without needing that extra reservation step.

Disney marks Good-to-Go Days with green circles on the Annual Passholder admission calendar, and for Passholders looking to squeeze in a few more spring park days before the calendar flips to May, this is a pretty sweet surprise. It is another sign that late April could be a great time for Passholders to sneak in a castle stroll, a festival snack run, or one more spin around their favorite attractions with a little less planning required.
