The Great Typhoon Lagoon Wedgie Lawsuit Finally Bottoms Out

Lawsuit Over ‘Painful Wedgie’ at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Officially Dismissed

A bizarre Walt Disney World lawsuit that made headlines for all the wrong reasons has officially come to an end. A 2023 lawsuit stemming from a so-called “painful wedgie” allegedly suffered on the Humunga Kowabunga waterslide at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon has been voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiff, closing the case for good.

The Great Typhoon Lagoon Wedgie Lawsuit Finally Bottoms Out

The lawsuit was filed by Emma and Edward McGuinness in Orange County, Florida, and centered on a 2019 visit to the water park, which is part of Walt Disney World. According to the complaint, Emma McGuinness claimed she suffered severe and permanent injuries after riding Humunga Kowabunga, a trio of near-vertical enclosed body slides that send riders plunging down a five-story drop at speeds approaching 40 miles per hour. The filing accused Disney of failing to properly warn guests about the inherent dangers of the attraction and sought $50,000 in damages.

Disney denied the allegations, stating in court filings that McGuinness may not have used reasonable care or that her injuries could have been pre-existing. Disney also maintained that the attraction is safe and that riders are provided with clear instructions and warnings before boarding. The case saw additional friction when McGuinness requested a virtual deposition to avoid returning to Florida, a request that was denied by Judge Brian Sandor, who ordered her to appear in Orange County in person.

After the parties failed to reach an agreement during a July 22 mediation, court records show that McGuinness voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice in August. This means the same claim cannot be filed again. Her scheduled deposition was canceled, along with a trial that had been set to begin this month. Court documents do not indicate that any settlement was reached between the two sides.

While Disney has faced its share of unusual legal claims over the years, this case now officially slides into the history books, wedgie and all.

Must-Do Disney’s Stacey Makes a Magical Comeback in New Walt Disney World 2026 Ad

If you ever turned on your Walt Disney World resort TV and immediately felt at home, chances are Stacey was the reason. The beloved host of Must Do Disney has officially returned, popping up in a brand-new Walt Disney World ad for 2026, and longtime fans are feeling all the nostalgia feels.

Must Do Disney originally debuted back in 2005 and quickly became required viewing for Disney vacations. The show guided guests through the must-do attractions and entertainment across all four theme parks, the water parks, and Disney Springs, often becoming the soundtrack to mornings spent getting ready for rope drop or winding down after a park day. Hosted by Stacey Aswad, the program ran for more than 15 years and built a devoted fan following that rivaled some actual attractions.

In 2020, Must Do Disney quietly disappeared from resort televisions, later being shuffled to a lesser-known channel before vanishing altogether. Stacey later confirmed in 2021 that the show had officially ended, sparking years of guest nostalgia and plenty of “bring Stacey back” wishes across Disney social media.

Now, that wish has finally come true, at least in spirit. In the new Walt Disney World ad, Stacey is seen strolling in front of Cinderella Castle as the narrator begins the iconic line, “Here you leave today and enter a world of…” Stacey jumps in to finish it with a smile and two perfectly chosen words, “must dos.” The spot then flashes through scenes from around Walt Disney World before ending with Stacey reuniting with Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck, casually asking how they’ve been like no time has passed at all.

The ad has been spotted both online and within Walt Disney World’s official sponsored ad media library, confirming this isn’t just a fun fan edit. While this doesn’t signal a full return of Must Do Disney to resort TVs, it’s a clear nod from Disney that they know exactly how beloved Stacey and the show remain.

Disney World May Have To Revert to Plastic Straws if Florida’s Proposed Paper Straw Ban Passes

Florida Bans Paper Straws Could Impact Disney Theme Parks

Florida Bill Targeting Paper Straws Could Ripple Into Walt Disney World Parks

A new piece of Florida legislation could stir up big changes for restaurants across the state, including Walt Disney World theme parks, which fully transitioned to paper straws back in 2023. Senate Bill 958, along with its companion House Bill 2195, aims to restrict how cities and counties regulate drinking straws and stirrers, citing emerging health concerns tied to paper alternatives.

Florida Bans Paper Straws Could Impact Disney Theme Parks

Supporters of the bill point to studies suggesting that many paper straws contain PFAS chemicals, often referred to as “forever chemicals,” which have been linked to potential health risks. A 2023 study published in Food Additives and Contaminants found PFAS in roughly 90 percent of paper straw brands tested, with researchers noting the chemicals were likely used to create water-resistant coatings. According to the legislation, future straw regulations must be rooted in science-driven government policy rather than blanket environmental assumptions.

If passed, the law would immediately take effect and give local governments until January 1, 2027, to update any existing straw-related rules. While the proposal does not outright mandate plastic straws, it would limit the ability of municipalities to require paper-only options unless specific compostability and marine biodegradability standards are met. Hospitals, medical facilities, senior care centers, and prepackaged beverages would be exempt.

Florida Bans Paper Straws Could Impact Disney Theme Parks

This is where Disney fans start paying attention. Walt Disney World made headlines in 2023 when it completed its transition to paper straws across quick-service and table-service locations as part of broader sustainability efforts. While Disney operates on its own property with unique governance through the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, changes to statewide policy could still influence sourcing, guest requests, or future operational decisions inside the parks. In short, your melting paper straw moment at Magic Kingdom could soon become part of a larger legal and logistical conversation.

The debate has also been fueled at the federal level. Earlier this year, President Donald Trump issued an executive order banning paper straws in federal buildings, criticizing them as ineffective, costly, and sometimes wrapped in plastic anyway. His comments echoed common guest complaints about paper straws dissolving mid-sip, something many theme park visitors know all too well during a Florida summer.

For now, nothing changes overnight for guests sipping sodas on Main Street, U.S.A. But as Florida lawmakers continue weighing environmental goals against health data and guest experience, Disney and other major hospitality players may need to reassess what “sustainable sipping” looks like in the years ahead. Whether that means new materials, reusable options, or a selective return of plastic straws remains to be seen, but this is one bill worth watching closely if you vacation in the Sunshine State.

Disney Unveils Full Lineup of Festivities Soarin' Update TV Specials and More

Disney Celebrates America Brings Patriotic Magic to the Parks, Screens, and Skies for the Nation’s 250th Anniversary

The Walt Disney Company is rolling out the red, white, and blue in a big way with a sweeping new initiative called Disney Celebrates America, honoring the United States’ 250th anniversary. The celebration began on Veterans Day 2025 and will continue through the July 4, 2026 holiday weekend, blending Disney storytelling with national pride across theme parks, television, streaming, merchandise, and community initiatives.

Disney Unveils Full Lineup of Festivities Soarin' Update, TV Specials, and More

Disney’s goal is to celebrate America’s past, present, and future through stories, experiences, and support for veterans, military families, and communities nationwide. From historic storytelling to modern-day moments, the initiative highlights the imagination, optimism, and ambition that have shaped both the country and Disney itself for more than a century. According to Disney CEO Robert A. Iger, the celebration reflects the same ideals that have guided the company since its earliest days, honoring a nation that never stops dreaming about what comes next.

For theme park fans, the biggest headline lands in Summer 2026 with the debut of Soarin’ Across America at Disney California Adventure and EPCOT. This limited-time update to the beloved attraction will take guests on a breathtaking flight over iconic American landscapes and cityscapes, serving as a patriotic love letter to the country’s natural beauty and innovation. Fireworks fans will also have plenty to celebrate, as “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” will light up the skies at both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom across three nights, July 3 through July 5, instead of just one.

The celebration extends far beyond the parks. On the July 4th weekend, Disney will present a massive 24-hour, multi-platform broadcast titled “Disney Celebrates America,” airing across Disney+, Hulu, ABC, ESPN, National Geographic, and more. The nationwide event will spotlight anniversary celebrations from across the country and conclude with a special fireworks presentation from Walt Disney World and Disneyland. ABC News anchor David Muir will lead the coverage, joined by journalists, ESPN commentators, and National Geographic explorers sharing stories that define the American spirit.

abcplus

Across Disney’s media brands, special programming will roll out throughout 2026. Good Morning America will continue its “50 States in 50 Weeks” series, National Geographic will highlight extraordinary places through its “America in Superlatives” storytelling, and ESPN will debut a new SportsCenter segment called “America’s Team,” searching for the sports franchise that best embodies the nation. ABC News Studios will also air a primetime special connecting iconic American locations to the real-world inspirations behind Disney park lands.

Merchandise fans can expect a patriotic shopping spree as well. A military-inspired collection is already available at select locations in Walt Disney World and Disneyland, with a broader Americana merchandise line launching in May 2026, including items commemorating the 250th anniversary. These collections will also be available online through DisneyStore.com while supplies last.

At the heart of Disney Celebrates America is a renewed commitment to military members, veterans, and their families. Disney is expanding its partnership with Blue Star Families through a $2.5 million donation and will continue offering special events, movie screenings on military bases, and educational programs like Blue Star Books. Additional announcements later in 2026 will reveal new Disney vacation offers for eligible service members, along with expanded career and training opportunities through SkillBridge and corporate fellowship programs.

More details about park experiences, entertainment, and special offerings tied to Disney Celebrates America are expected in the coming weeks. As the countdown to America’s 250th birthday continues, Disney is inviting families everywhere to reflect on where we’ve been, celebrate who we are, and imagine the future together.

Disney Salutes the USA: A Patriotic Tribute for America’s 250th at the Rose Parade

Disney kicked off the new year—and the start of America’s 250th anniversary—with a stunning “Disney Celebrates America” entry in the 137th Rose Parade in Pasadena. Braving the rain, this vibrant tribute honored the nation’s semiquincentennial by leaning into the core values of Disney storytelling: dreams, optimism, and the shared experiences that have connected people across the country for over a century.

Leading the procession was the Main Street U.S.A. Horseless Carriage from Disneyland carrying Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse adorned with patriotic décor and red, white, and blue flowers.

They were joined by more than 50 U.S. military veterans who now serve as Disney cast members and their families, symbolizing our company’s deep appreciation for those who have served our country and now help create magic for millions. Disney has a long tradition of hiring military veterans through our “Heroes Work Here” initiative and we were honored to recognize and celebrate their service as part of our “Disney Celebrates America” entry in this storied parade.

America

The selection of the flowers on the vehicle held special meaning for those who serve our country in uniform.

The Disneyland vehicle was adorned with patriotic decor and red, white, and blue flowers – each holding significance for military veterans. Featured blooms include red poppies which are widely recognized as a symbol of remembrance for fallen military personnel dating back to World War I. Other flowers featured in Disney’s entry include rosemaries, blue irises, white lilies, chrysanthemums, and red roses to express love, honor, and appreciation for veterans everywhere.

Participating in the Rose Parade this year was an opportunity to honor Walt Disney’s enduring love of country and our century-long support for those who serve — a legacy that began with Walt and Roy O. Disney’s contributions during the First World War and continues today.

As part of this celebration, it was an honor to highlight U.S. military veterans working across the company as well as our expanded support for military families — including a $2.5 million donation to Blue Star Families.
