Disney Salutes the USA: A Patriotic Tribute for America’s 250th at the Rose Parade
Disney kicked off the new year—and the start of America’s 250th anniversary—with a stunning “Disney Celebrates America” entry in the 137th Rose Parade in Pasadena. Braving the rain, this vibrant tribute honored the nation’s semiquincentennial by leaning into the core values of Disney storytelling: dreams, optimism, and the shared experiences that have connected people across the country for over a century.
Leading the procession was the Main Street U.S.A. Horseless Carriage from Disneyland carrying Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse adorned with patriotic décor and red, white, and blue flowers.
They were joined by more than 50 U.S. military veterans who now serve as Disney cast members and their families, symbolizing our company’s deep appreciation for those who have served our country and now help create magic for millions. Disney has a long tradition of hiring military veterans through our “Heroes Work Here” initiative and we were honored to recognize and celebrate their service as part of our “Disney Celebrates America” entry in this storied parade.
The selection of the flowers on the vehicle held special meaning for those who serve our country in uniform.
The Disneyland vehicle was adorned with patriotic decor and red, white, and blue flowers – each holding significance for military veterans. Featured blooms include red poppies which are widely recognized as a symbol of remembrance for fallen military personnel dating back to World War I. Other flowers featured in Disney’s entry include rosemaries, blue irises, white lilies, chrysanthemums, and red roses to express love, honor, and appreciation for veterans everywhere.
Participating in the Rose Parade this year was an opportunity to honor Walt Disney’s enduring love of country and our century-long support for those who serve — a legacy that began with Walt and Roy O. Disney’s contributions during the First World War and continues today.
As part of this celebration, it was an honor to highlight U.S. military veterans working across the company as well as our expanded support for military families — including a $2.5 million donation to Blue Star Families.
A Closer Look at Construction Walls in Magic Kingdom
If you’ve visited Frontierland recently, you’ve likely noticed that the “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” is looking a bit more like a “Wildest Construction Zone.”
The landscape of Magic Kingdom is shifting in a historic way. While Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the Country Bear Musical Jamboree are settled into their new roles, the western edge of the park is currently a maze of plywood and scrim as Disney prepares for two of its most ambitious projects ever: Piston Peak (the Cars-themed land) and the highly anticipated Villains Land.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is currently in the midst of a massive, year-long refurbishment. This isn’t just a simple coat of paint; crews have been working on a total track replacement to ensure the coaster remains a staple for decades to come.
What’s New: When the attraction reopens in Spring 2026, fans can expect “new magic,” including an enhanced Rainbow Caverns scene—a tribute to the classic Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland attraction from Disneyland’s history.
The Walls: The construction perimeter has recently expanded, pushing further into the Frontierland walkways and completely concealing the Frontierland Railroad Station, which remains closed during this phase.
The most jarring change for long-time fans is the view—or lack thereof—of the Rivers of America. Following their permanent closure in July 2025, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat have officially been cleared from the map.
Ground Zero for Piston Peak: Aerial views show that the island has been almost entirely leveled and the river basin drained. This area is being graded to make way for the Piston Peak National Park, which will feature two new Cars attractions.
A New Horizon: Just beyond Big Thunder, the land is being cleared for Villains Land, marking a massive expansion into what was previously backstage territory.
For guests visiting in early 2026, the boardwalk area near the Rivers of America is heavily barricaded. Disney has added themed “advertisements” to the walls—featuring nods to the Country Bears and Pecos Bill—to help blend the plywood into the Frontierland aesthetic.
While the loss of the river view is significant, it’s a front-row seat to the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history. As Big Thunder prepares to roar back to life this spring, it will serve as the anchor for a brand-new Frontierland.
The walls are UP in Frontierland! 🚧✨ Preparation for the new Cars expansion at Magic Kingdom is officially underway. We took a lap around the land to check out the current state of construction. 🏎️⛰️ #DisneyConstruction#MagicKingdom#Frontierland

Dead Body Reported at Orange Garage in Disney Springs at Walt Disney World
Authorities are investigating a death reported at Disney Springs on Friday evening, following a heavy police presence at one of the shopping district’s parking structures.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a call for service was received at approximately 8:55 p.m. EST on January 2, 2026, regarding a “person down” near East Buena Vista Drive. Moments later, the status of the call was updated to “Dead Person”.
While the Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the exact address or circumstances regarding the incident, witnesses on the scene reported seeing law enforcement activity within the Orange Garage at Disney Springs. Reports indicate that deputies quickly established a perimeter on the lower level of the garage, utilizing a blue tarp to shield the scene from guests returning to their vehicles or walking toward the resort bus loops.
Social media users who were parking or leaving the garage at the time corroborated the reports of police activity in the area.
At this time, no further details have been released regarding the identity of the individual or the cause of death. This marks the first reported death at Walt Disney World in 2026.
The Orange Garage is a central parking hub for Disney Springs, primarily serving guests visiting the West Side and Town Center areas.
This is a breaking news story. We will provide updates as more information becomes available from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Disney Auditions Open for Voices of Liberty Vocalists at Walt Disney World
If your idea of a perfect harmony involves soaring notes echoing through EPCOT, Disney just dropped an audition announcement worth singing about. Disney Live Entertainment is now accepting online submissions for ensemble vocalists to join the beloved Voices of Liberty at Walt Disney World. This iconic a cappella group performs traditional Americana music in rich eight-part harmonies inside the American Adventure Rotunda, and Disney is looking for both full-time and substitute singers to keep that patriotic magic ringing.
Submissions are open now through January 16, 2026, at 11:30 PM Eastern Time, and this is a two-step online audition process. First, performers must create or update their Disney Auditions performer profile and upload current video audition links, preferably unlisted YouTube videos, under the Links section. Submissions should be no more than a month old and may include the vocal part or parts of your choosing. Disney is seeking singers across all voice types, including soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass, with specific audition material provided for each range.
After submitting audition materials, performers must complete the second step by checking in online. Candidates need to visit Checkin.DisneyAuditions.com, select the audition titled “ONLINE SUBMISSIONS: Vocalists for Voices of Liberty,” and complete the process with a selfie. Disney notes that applicants should only submit once to be considered. Extreme vocal range, sight singing ability, quick memorization skills, and strong control are essential for this ensemble, which is known for its precision and power.
Selected candidates may be invited to in-person callbacks, scheduled for February 11 in New York City and February 18 in Orlando. Those chosen for callbacks will be notified by January 30, 2026, and must be available to attend one of the two dates. Potential contracts are expected to begin in April 2026. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States. Performers at Walt Disney World are covered under a collective bargaining agreement with Actors’ Equity Association, and eligible candidates may apply for union membership upon signing an individual employment contract.
Disney Dining Plan 2026 Update: Over 20 Restaurants Return After Contract Shuffle, But Some Fan Favorites Are Still Missing
After a stressful end to 2025 for guests booking 2026 Walt Disney World vacations, the Disney Dining Plan situation is finally starting to look a whole lot tastier. In late December, more than 35 popular restaurants suddenly vanished from Dining Plan eligibility, sending families scrambling, especially those booking Disney’s Kids Eat Free offer. As of early January 2026, most of those locations have officially returned, confirming what we predicted earlier: this was not a mistake, but the annual contract negotiation shuffle between Disney and third party restaurant operators.
Every year, Disney renegotiates Dining Plan reimbursement rates with outside companies that operate many locations around EPCOT World Showcase and Disney Springs. Groups like Patina Restaurant Group and Landry’s periodically drop off the plan during negotiations, then quietly reappear once terms are finalized. The 2026 cycle was messier than usual, but the wave of returns now confirms this was business as usual, just on a much bigger scale.
A long list of guest favorites is now back on the 2026 Disney Dining Plan. At EPCOT, Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria, Tutto Italia Ristorante, San Angel Inn Restaurante, and Rose & Crown Dining Room have all returned. Disney Springs guests can once again use credits at The BOATHOUSE, Morimoto Asia, Paddlefish, and Terralina Crafted Italian. Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Yak & Yeti Restaurant is also officially back, along with Maya Grill at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
That said, several high profile restaurants are still sitting on the sidelines. Space 220 remains off the Dining Plan, which is not entirely surprising given its high prix fixe pricing and history of late contract signings. Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ is also still missing, along with T-REX Cafe, Rainforest Cafe, and The Polite Pig. Based on previous years, several of these could still return later this month as negotiations wrap up.
New for 2026, however, is an extra wrinkle guests need to watch closely. Some restaurants now only accept Dining Plan credits during specific meal periods. Via Napoli is currently dinner only, Tutto Italia is lunch only, and The Edison is only accepting credits at dinner. This means guests must double check meal eligibility in the My Disney Experience app before booking, rather than assuming all meals qualify.
These changes matter even more for families using Disney’s 2026 Kids Eat Free promotion, where children ages 3 to 9 receive a free Dining Plan with a qualifying package. Many families booked specifically to maximize high dollar dining experiences, and missing or restricted restaurants can shift the value math quickly. The good news is that contracts often finalize well into January, so history suggests more returns are likely.
Disney Springs Parking Alerts Roll Into My Disney Experience App Ahead of Garage Closures
If Disney Springs parking stress has ever tried to ruin your shopping or snack plans, Disney just tossed guests a little pre-arrival pixie dust. The My Disney Experience app has quietly added a new parking availability alert for Disney Springs, letting you know if parking has hit capacity before you even turn onto Buena Vista Drive.
The new feature lives inside the Park Hours & Info section of the app. On days when parking is wide open, nothing new appears. But if Disney Springs garages reach capacity, a bold red warning pops up letting guests know parking is currently full. It is a simple change, but one that could save a lot of circling, sighing, and spontaneous valet decisions.
The timing is not random. Disney Springs is preparing for an extended maintenance closure of the Lime Garage, which will reduce available parking for much of the next two months. The closure will happen in two phases, from January 12 through February 11, and again from February 17 through March 13. With one of the main garages offline, parking demand is expected to spike, especially on weekend evenings and during peak dining hours.
If you are planning a visit during the closure window, checking the app before leaving your resort or home could save you time and frustration. Consider arriving earlier in the day, using ride share, or keeping an eye on alternative garages if Lime is off the table. It may not be the flashiest update Disney has rolled out, but this one could be a real lifesaver when Disney Springs is buzzing.

Marvel Studios Unveils New Trailer and Stills for ‘Wonder Man’
Marvel Television has pulled back the curtain on its next big series, releasing an all-new trailer and stills for the upcoming Wonder Man.
The highly anticipated eight-episode series is the latest project from Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: Brand New Day) and Andrew Guest (Community, Hawkeye). It features a powerhouse cast led by Emmy Award winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, alongside Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley, who returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the infamous Trevor Slattery.
Wonder Man promises a unique spin on the superhero genre, diving into the world of showbiz within the MCU. The story centers on Simon Williams, an aspiring actor struggling to find his big break in Hollywood. His path crosses with Trevor Slattery—an actor whose best days (and wildest schemes) seem to be behind him—leading to a revelation: the legendary director Von Kovak is rebooting the superhero film Wonder Man.
The series follows the two actors, currently at very different stages of their careers, as they doggedly pursue what could be life-changing roles. Audiences can expect a satirical and insightful peek behind the scenes of the entertainment industry, all set against the backdrop of a world filled with superheroes.
Kingsley’s return as Slattery marks his fourth appearance in the MCU, following memorable turns in Iron Man 3, the Marvel One-Shot All Hail the King, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Streaming Details
Fans won’t have to wait long to see if Simon Williams gets his close-up. All eight episodes of Wonder Man will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on January 27 at 6 PM PT.
Additionally, the series’ original soundtrack, featuring a score by composer Joel P. West, is set to release on all digital platforms via Hollywood Records on January 30.
