“A Night On The Town” – Couples Activities Outside the WDW Parks

"A Night On The Town" - Couples Activities Outside the WDW Parks

A Walt Disney World vacation should be fun for everyone – not just your kids – the adults should get to enjoy all that WDW has to offer too! I know when it’s a ‘family vacation’, everything tends to revolve around the kids, which is all well and good, but what about the grown up fun? Everyone deserves to enjoy a vacation, so hire a babysitter for the kids, and head out for some ‘adult friendly fun’ outside the Parks:

Eats: Tired of eating chicken nuggets and burgers and fighting for a table inside the crowded Theme Parks? Well, you’re in luck, because WDW has plenty of amazing restaurants that are great for couples and can even set a romantic tone for the evening! The WDW Resort Hotels as well as Downtown Disney offers some delicious options, like African inspired cuisine at Jiko, or a classic steak dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse. Check out my post on romantic restaurants for even more places where you can eat, relax, and most of all take some time to enjoy each other’s company!

What is More Fun than EPCOT and a Cranberry Bog?

What is More Fun than EPCOT and a Cranberry Bog?

What do you get when you combine the imagination and magic of Walt Disney World with the mystery of fall’s favorite fruit? A truly exceptional exhibit– an over 1,300 square-foot free-standing cranberry bog to be exact! From Sept. 28 to Nov. 12, visitors to the 2012 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival will have a chance to feast their eyes on the beauty of the cranberry harvest and discover the cranberry’s secrets – from its unique taste to its rich heritage and long history of health benefits.

Multi-generation Ocean Spray® cranberry growers and Disney cast members will be on hand to share the mystery of the cranberry through this awe-inspiring display complete with 1,500 pounds of fresh, floating cranberries. Visitors will also have an opportunity to sample Ocean Spray® Craisins® Dried Cranberries, the official fruit snack of the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts, and enjoy them in an assortment of menu items at participating restaurants inside the theme park.

“The cranberry is an exceptional autumn fruit that people know very little about,” said Larry Martin, vice president global marketing, Ocean Spray. “Our collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering on this exhibit gives us an opportunity to showcase the cranberry to thousands of visitors who may never have the opportunity to see how truly stunning a cranberry harvest is, and then show them how to incorporate cranberries into everyday dishes and cuisines around the world.”

In addition to the harvest demonstration, guests visiting the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival are encouraged to explore culinary demonstrations by Disney chefs, who will share their secrets on how to transform ordinary fare into full-flavored dishes using Ocean Spray® Craisins® Dried Cranberries.

AMC and Yahoo! Hosting Live Q&A With Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day Lewis For ‘Lincoln’

AMC and Yahoo! Hosting Live Q&A With Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day Lewis For 'Lincoln'

These are the kind of events that make me so happy to be a film fan. On Wednesday, October 10, Yahoo! and AMC theaters will be partnering together to bring a live question and answer session with Steven Spielberg and actor Daniel Day Lewis, where they’ll talk about their upcoming film, ‘Lincoln’. Spielberg is my favorite filmmaker, and I always love listening to him talk about his movies, and this has been one of my most highly anticipated movies for quite some time, going as far back as when Liam Neeson was originally attached to the role. I love Spielberg’s history epics, and the fact that has gotten Daniel Day Lewis to star as the sixteenth President is nothing short of incredible, so it’s safe to say that I can’t wait for this to be out. I’m definitely excited to get a chance to listen to them talk about the movie before its release, and I really wish I could be one of the lucky few in New York City next Wednesday to be there in person for it.

The event will begin at 7 p.m., eastern time, and will be streaming live on Yahoo! movies for those not in attendance in New York, or the nine other cities across the nation. Are you excited for ‘Lincoln’? Will you be tuning into this live Q&A? Let me know in the comments below, and hit the jump for the full press release. ‘Lincoln’ will be released on November 16, 2012.

Top Ten Off the Beaten Path Experiences at Disney

Top Ten Off the Beaten Path Experiences at Disney

Have you visited Walt Disney World multiple times? If you’re like me, you’ve experienced all the attractions and shows at the parks during one visit or another. And while these are a “must do” for every Disney vacation, have you ever thought to take an “Off the Beaten Path” approach to your park touring? Today I want to share with you the Top Ten Off the Beaten Path activities at Walt Disney World.

10. Club Cool @ EPCOT. As you walk past Mouse Gears, coming from the Spaceship Earth, Club Cool is on your right. Inside, you’ll find tastes of Coca Cola from all over the world! Have your camera ready to capture those smiles and scowls as your family treats themselves to samples of Coke.

9. Take a surrey ride. You can find surreys for rent at Disney’s Boardwalk. A surrey is a two seat carriage with room for four people. You can rent these at the Boardwalk and pedal your way around the whole area! You simply follow the walking path, and as you’re riding you’ll be able to take in the Boardwalk resorts and entertainment from a whole different view!

Give Your Disney Vacation Mornings a Little get up and GO!

Give Your Disney Vacation Mornings a Little get up and GO!

Sleeping in while on a Disney vacation is a big “no-no”.  Why would you want to waste your day away when you could be up and in the parks having a magical time?  We all know that a trip to Disney World is not cheap.  Why not think through how to get up and go every morning without wasting your precious park time?  Today I am doing the prep work for you and sharing my tips for getting out of bed and into action!  You’ll be on Splash Mountain faster than you can say rabbit in the briar patch!  So, what are you waiting for?  Get up and GO!

Sort it out

If you are staying on property, chances are bathroom space is going to be limited!  Taking a moment to think through bathing and prep time will save you a chunk of time in the morning.   I know there are many schools of thought on bathing.  I hope this doesn’t overstep my blogging boundaries, but I vote splitting up the shower schedule.  As a woman who fully utilizes my makeup and hair time, I opt for the night shift when it comes to getting clean.  I have a lot of hair.  It takes a long time to get it dry, let alone make it look presentable.  Kids are also good candidates for nighttime baths.  I like being clean before I go to bed so I don’t really mind not getting a shower in the am.  That’s just me, but I know that having a shower schedule has helped my family get up and going in the morning!
