New Capt. America Film Going Back To Ohio

New Capt. America Film Going Back To Ohio

Captain America is coming back to Ohio again as Marvel Studios announced that they will be filming the Captain America Sequel – Captain America: The Winter Soldier there next year.

Coming with the Captain will be more than 2,700 jobs including electricians, tailors and extras when the film starts production in February of ’13.  Major film productions can also boost the economy including car rentals, hotel reservations, dining and supplies. The movie is slated for a Spring 2014 release date.

It wasn’t all the Captain’s doing as the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit gave a “superhero” $9.5 million dollar tax credit to Marvel Studios to film the latest sequel in the state.  It’s estimated that Marvel will spend $35 million in Ohio while it is there.  Filming locations will include Cleveland and unspecified locations in southern Ohio.

This isn’t the first Superhero sighting in the Buckeye State – Marvel filmed the 2011 blockbuster The Avengers in Ohio.  Other movies filmed in Ohio in recent years include The Ides of March and Unstoppable.

Another Child With Cancer Hoping to Raise Money to go to Disneyland

Another Child With Cancer Hoping to Raise Money to go to Disneyland

Isbaella Coomber’s family has started to raise money to take their loved one to Disneyland from the UK. It is not a cheap trip but it is an important one, as Isabella has brain cancer and this may be her only wish granted.

When Isabella Coomber was 10 month’s old her family’s suspicions were aroused when she was unable to sit up without help. But doctors ran extensive tests and could find nothing wrong with the young child. Her family persevered and following more doctors visits and hospital visits Isabella was diagnosed last December with a cancerous brain tumor.

Jolene Hale, is Isabella’s mother and she said: “After meeting her cancer doctor, the first thing he told us was that most children with this tumour do not survive. Only 1 in every 900,000 children get this. We were told she had a high grade tumour, which meant it grows fast.”

You may be drooling before you reach the end of this article!

5. S’mores Cupcake-Disney has become quite creative with their cupcake creations over the past few years; and I have heard that you can sample different variations of this sweet snack at several locations, such as Wilderness Lodge, the Grand Floridian, and even the Boardwalk Bakery. Regardless of which variation of the S’mores cupcake you sample, you will get a taste of those classic S’mores ingredients that you find around a bonfire this time of year.

4. Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup-This famous dish can be found at the popular Le Cellier Steakhouse at Epcot’s Canada pavilion; and with its smoky cheese and bacon flavor, you may never be the same after a taste!

3. Wilderness Waffle-At the Wilderness Lodge’s Whispering Canyon Cafe, you can a special special Mickey waffle creation, the Wilderness Waffle! This breakfast dish is made up of classic Mickey waffles with maple butter and candied pecans! A perfect sweet and cozy breakfast on a cool, fall morning, don’t you think?

2. Caramel Apples-At many of the bakeries at WDW, you can find this classic, fall treat done Disney style! In addition to the traditional caramel apple, you can also enjoy this snack covered with other goodies, including edible Mouse Ears!

1. Roaring Fork’s Chili-When you stop by Wilderness Lodge’s counter service spot, the Roaring Fork, try one of their cups of chili! It’s delicious! We recommend you try a cup when seated in a rocking chair next to the lodge’s Grand Canyon fireplace. A cozy way to enjoy a leisurely, crisp fall afternoon at WDW.

New ‘Characters In Flight’ Balloon at Downtown Disney

Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World Resort recently added a little “character” to its skyline thanks to the arrival of a new Characters in Flight balloon.

The balloon, which is currently being set up for operation, is the second balloon to be featured at Characters in Flight. As you can see above, this balloon features a new red, yellow and blue color scheme, as well as a new set of flying characters: Tinker Bell, Peter Pan, Buzz Lightyear, Dumbo, Jasmine and Aladdin.

Guests will be able to go on board once the balloon completes all its safety inspections, which we are being told will be sometime in the next week.

‘Desperate Housewives: The Complete Eighth and Final Season’ DVD Review

'Desperate Housewives: The Complete Eighth and Final Season' DVD Review

After eight years, and one hundred and eighty episodes, the Sunday night staple, ‘Desperate Housewives’, came to an end. The series, starring Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, and Marcia Cross had gained quite a following over the years, as fans watched Gabrielle, Susan, Lynette, and Bree go through many misadventures on Wisteria Lane, falling in and out of love, getting caught in murder mysteries, and so much more. So of course, fans were going to be sad when it all came to and end. Thankfully though, it wasn’t the end. Disney has given the series a proper send off with ‘Desperate Housewives: The Complete Eighth and Final Season’ on DVD, for fans to relive the last season of their show over and over again.

Enhance Your Disney Memories – Try Theming Your Photos

Enhance Your Disney Memories - Try Theming Your Photos

Lots of folks shoot hundreds of pictures on each visit to Walt Disney World. I’m even worse because I rarely take less than 1500 – 2000 shots every time. Rather than just taking pictures for the sake of taking them try to have a theme for each trip and carry it through for the entire vacation. Don’t become obsessed with your theme though at the expense of some wonderful but unrelated shots. I’ll outline just a few themes for you to try:

  • Since most folks travel as a family pick just one spot to have a family picture taken and take the same picture at the same spot on each and every vacation. This will let you see just how the kids have grown and how you and they have changed over the years. Just ask a passerby or a Cast Member to take the picture for you, I’ve never heard of anyone saying no that request. Make sure you pick a spot that will be there over the years such as Cinderella Castle or Spaceship Earth
  • This may sound a bit bizarre, but, take pictures of signs! I’ve done that before and the results are always fun. You can break it down further by picking Attractions, Resorts, Restaurants, etc.
  • Take pictures of Cast Members. Those folks are generally a bunch of HAMS and love to play around in front of the camera.
  • Try to get as many photos of birds and animals as you can. Epcot is a very fertile location for this theme and Disney’s Animal Kingdom is absolutely the best.
  • Make sure you get plenty of shots of each park Icon from different viewpoints.
  • Try to get some interesting architectural shots like the one above. Walt Disney World is a treasure trove of incredible architecture.
  • Last but certainly not least – Characters. This can be a bit time-consuming but if you take the pictures during the time between the groups at meet and greets you can get some really good candid type stuff.

These are just a few of the themes you can try. Make it a part of your pre trip planning to discuss it with your family and pick the theme as a group and don’t limit yourselves to the ones I mentioned – be creative. The most important photo is, of course, the family shot because it will reward you with great memories year after year. As always, enjoy your visit to Walt Disney World!!

Ohana! Knocks it out of the Park!

‘Ohana mean Family and that is what you will be treated like dining there for breakfast or dinner!

On our recent trip I had booked ‘Ohana for dinner at the 180 day mark; we had been here a few years ago and couldn’t wait to return! We got a Sunday evening reservation at 6:30 for the four of us. A couple months later my best friend’s family decided to join us on vacation and we were thrilled, so I got them booked and worked on revising all our dining reservations. I had luck with all but onedinner at Ohana 🙁 so it can be very important to book those special reservations ASAP!

We did a little compromise, we kept our dinner reservation and I was able to score a breakfast reservation for later in the week for all 9 of us at ‘Ohanafor Lilo & Stitch’s Breakfast!

So let’s see how the two stacked up!

Both meals here are served family style and they keep the food coming! Let’s start with a review of Breakfast.
