Is a sequel to Brave on the horizon?

Brave

Awrite (Scottish for Hi), ladies and gents! It is I, Anonymouse, here once again to bring you some Disney Gossip. Today’s Disney Gossip takes us overseas to a land faraway. Is a sequel to Brave on the horizon?

According to Mark Andrews, the director of Oscar-winning Disney Pixar’s Brave, hinted there may be in the “right story” came up. While we do know that Mr Andrews is currently working on another animated film set in Scotland, my sources say it is not related to Brave. Mr. Andrews is quoted in The Herald Scotland saying, “And as far as sequels go, Pixar only does one if we find the right story. Story, story, story, is the key.”

A sequel would certainly be a boost to Scotland’s Tourism industry. I’ll keep my ears open and let you know when I hear more.

Until then, that’s all the Disney Gossip I have for now. While Chippy has been away, the Disney gossip been pouring in. Got any good gossip/rumors please email me at [email protected] or on my facebook pageFor my past gossip articles be sure to check them out here

What is a Disney Pin Code and How do you get one?

keepcalm1
keepcalm1

disney

People ask me all the time what is a Disney Pin Code? The second question in that sequence is usually How do I get one? While the first question is pretty easy the 2nd one takes a little work, but here goes…

A Disney Pin Code is a special discount Disney sends to you to entice you to book a Disney Vacation. Most Pin Code deals start rolling out when Disney is running a special promotion (like now). Usually the deals are better than the offers that are out there to make it hard not to want to book a vacation. I know the ones I have received in the past have been room-only discounts, room upgrades or free dining offers.

Keep in mind with these special discounts that Disney sends out at random they are stickily for YOU! They come with a special code at the bottom that only you can use.

I have yet to figure out WHO or WHY people receive them. For the longest time I thought it was people who haven’t been to Disney in a while. But that was debunked by some friends that goto Disney all the time. While there is no sure-fire way to get a Disney Pin Code I am going to offer up a few tricks I have done that I think has nabbed me several Disney Pin codes in my email & mail box over the years.

  1. Head over to the Disney World or Disneyland site and create an account. My suggestion would be create and account for yourself and then one for your spouse, partner, kids, etc. Just so long as you can get to the email account. I did one for my work email, @chipandco.com, and one for my gmail account.
  2. Order a Disney Planning DVD. I do this every year. It’s free and doesn’t cost you a thing. When you get it make up some popcorn and have a fun Disney Family Night watching it.
  3. Play around on the Disney Websites. Create a vacation and save it. Browse deals and offers. Just make sure your logged in. Disney monitors all the things you do on their site so believe they are watching you.
  4. Register for Giveaways. I post a lot of Disney Giveaways on the Chip and Company site so be sure to enter them and again make sure you are logged in. Just bookmark the Chip and Co site and check back with us daily.
  5. Book a Disney Vacation. If you use a travel agent they will register you in the Disney Database and once you are in the system cross your fingers.
  6. Disney’s Memory Makers (Photopass). Make sure you have an account there as well. I highly recommend using this service at the parks and make sure you use a valid email address for your account. You know the Disney Marketing Machine has to share emails between its other departments.
  7. Become a fan on Facebook & Twitter. Pretty much any place you can follow Disney do it. Oh and don’t forget to check us out too!
  8. Sign up for Disney Movie Rewards. Not only do you get to earn point for prizes, they also offer some great sweepstakes to enter.
  9. Inquire about the Disney Vacation Club.  Next time you are at Disney stop by one of the booths and check them out. I know many times you will get something for free if you check them out. One day we will have the money to signup but for now we just dream about becoming a member.
  10. Be patient. While you may not get one right away just keep plugging away. Eventually you might get one. You could try calling Disney and asking. Many times people have Pin Codes on their account but for one reason or another they never get notified. Never hurts to call and ask.

I know for me it has taken several years to get one but now they come in pretty regular. I would say on average we get them once a year. I know some people get more but it’s nice to get that letter in the mail offering the Chip and Co family a really good deal on our next Disney Vacation.

Good Luck!

English Language Voice Cast For Studio Ghibli’s ‘The Wind Rises’ Revealed

TheWindRises527bdc713cca0
TheWindRises527bdc713cca0

The Wind Rises

I’m a big supporter of Studio Ghibli, and I loved when Disney was working to release the studio’s films over the last decade or so. But that partnership seemed to all but end last year, but it seems that the companies have come back together to release their newest film, ‘The Wind Rises’. With anticipation of the film ramping up for the fans here in the USA, Walt Disney Pictures and Studio Ghibli have revealed the English voice cast for their new film, and it’s quite good! The film will feature the likes of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, and many more! Check out the full press release below, as well as checking out the trailer for the new film:

An A-list roster of voice talent has been assembled for the English-language version of Studio Ghibli’s “The Wind Rises,” which opens in select North American theaters on Feb. 21, 2014, expanding wide on Feb. 28, 2014. The film marks director Hayao Miyazaki’s final feature, as the legendary animation veteran announced his retirement in September 2013.

In “The Wind Rises,” Jiro dreams of flying and designing beautiful airplanes, inspired by the famous Italian aeronautical designer Caproni. Nearsighted and unable to be a pilot, he becomes one of the world’s most accomplished airplane designers, experiencing key historical events in an epic tale of love, perseverance and the challenges of living and making choices in a turbulent world. The voice cast of the English-language version follows.

· JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT (“Don Jon,” “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For”) lends his voice to Jiro Horikoshi, who harbors strong ambitions to create his own beautiful airplane. A bubbling mix of wild excitement, extreme focus, individualism, pride, realism and idealism, Jiro also has a cool and brilliant mind and is recognized for his talent.
· JOHN KRASINSKI (“The Office,” “Promised Land”) provides the voice of Honjo, Jiro’s college friend and fellow aviation engineer.
· EMILY BLUNT (“The Young Victoria,” “Edge of Tomorrow,” “Into the Woods”) voices Nahoko Satomi, a beautiful and cheerful girl who is a passenger on the same train as Jiro on the day of a natural disaster. Ten years later, they reunite.
· MARTIN SHORT (“Father of the Bride,” “Saturday Night Live”) was tapped to portray Kurokawa, Jiro’s grumpy boss.
· STANLEY TUCCI (“Julie & Julia,” “The Hunger Games” films, “The Devil Wears Prada”) provides the voice of Caproni, an airplane creator known worldwide from the dawn of Italian aviation through the 1930s, who appears in Jiro’s dreams to stir up, advise and voice Jiro’s thoughts and emotions.
· MANDY PATINKIN (“Homeland,” “The Princess Bride”) lends his voice to Hattori, the senior designer at Mitsubishi.
· WERNER HERZOG (“Jack Reacher,” filmmaker “Grizzly Man”) voices Castorp, a mysterious visitor to Japan who encounters Jiro at a mountain resort.
· WILLIAM H. MACY (“Shameless,” “Fargo”) steps into the role of Satomi, Nahoko’s father.
· MAE WHITMAN (“Parenthood,” “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”) was called on to voice Kayo Horikoshi, Jiro’s younger sister, who adores him. Whitman also voices Kinu, Nahoko’s caretaker.
· JENNIFER GREY (“Dirty Dancing,” “The Cotton Club,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”) provides the voice of Mrs. Kurokawa.
· DARREN CRISS (“Girl Most Likely,” “Glee”) lends his voice to Katayama, a jovial junior engineering colleague of Jiro.
· ELIJAH WOOD (“Wilfred,” “Grand Piano,” “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy) voices Sone, a studious engineering colleague of Jiro.
· RONAN FARROW (“From Up on Poppy Hill”) is the voice of the Mitsubishi Employee.

Also featured in the English-language version of “The Wind Rises” are Zach Callison (“Sofia the First,” “Mr. Peabody and Sherman,” “Steven Universe”), who voices young Jiro; Eva Bella (“Frozen,” “Despicable Me 2,” “Almost Heroes 3D”), who lends her voice to young Kayo; and Madeleine Rose Yen (Broadway’s “War Horse,” “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas”), who provides the voice of young Nahoko. Rounding out the English-language voice cast are Edie Mirman (“Epic,” “Howl’s Moving Castle” English-language version) as the voice of Jiro’s mother, and David Cowgill (“Madagascar”) as the voice of the flight engineer.

The English-language voice cast of “The Wind Rises” is directed by Gary Rydstrom, a seven-time Academy Award®-winning sound designer (“Saving Private Ryan,” “Titanic”) who worked on “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Brave.” Rydstrom also directed the English-language versions of “The Secret World of Arrietty” and “From Up on Poppy Hill.” The English-language version of the film is produced by Studio Ghibli and executive produced by Frank Marshall, who produced dozens of landmark films, including the “Indiana Jones” series, “The Bourne Legacy” and “War Horse,” and executive produced the English-language versions of Studio Ghibli films “PONYO,” “The Secret World of Arrietty” and “From Up on Poppy Hill.” Mike Jones (“In the Event of a Moon Disaster”) is credited with the English-language screenplay adaptation for “The Wind Rises.”

“The Wind Rises” was released in Japan in July 2013, topping the Japanese box office and the $120 million mark. The film opened for Academy Award® qualification engagements in New York and Los Angeles Nov. 8-14, 2013, showcasing the original film in Japanese with English subtitles.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:
In “The Wind Rises,” Jiro dreams of flying and designing beautiful airplanes, inspired by the famous Italian aeronautical designer Caproni. Nearsighted from a young age and unable to be a pilot, Jiro joins a major Japanese engineering company in 1927 and becomes one of the world’s most innovative and accomplished airplane designers. The film chronicles much of his life, depicting key historical events, including the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, the Great Depression, the tuberculosis epidemic and Japan’s plunge into war. Jiro meets and falls in love with Nahoko, and grows and cherishes his friendship with his colleague Honjo. Writer and director Hayao Miyazaki pays tribute to engineer Jiro Horikoshi and author Tatsuo Hori in this epic tale of love, perseverance, and the challenges of living and making choices in a turbulent world.

From Studio Ghibli, “The Wind Rises” is slated for limited release in North American theaters on Feb. 21, 2014, and expanded release on Feb. 28, 2014, under the Touchstone Pictures banner.

I’m so excited for this film, and I can’t wait to see it. The cast they’ve put together is so good, which is something I’ve always loved about the Studio Ghibli English releases. Are you excited for ‘The Wind Rises’?

Disney Files Trademark Lawsuit over Frozen

cold

elsa

Disney is going to suing an alleged copy cat. According to a trademark infringement lawsuit filed in California federal court, Phase 4 Films changed the name of one of its films to Frozen Land.

“On November 1, 2013, Phase 4 released an animated movie entitled The Legend of Sarila, which generated low profits.

The lawsuit goes on to say that Phase 4 knew of Frozen, and so to enhance the commercial success of Sarila, the defendant “redesigned the artwork, packaging, logo, and other promotional materials for its newly (and intentionally misleadingly) retitled film to mimic those used by Disney for Frozen and related merchandise.”

Although titles of movies can’t be trademarked, that doesn’t stop movie studios from registering marks for merchandise.

This lawsuit over Frozen Land is about the title and look of the logo. The lawsuit filed on behalf of Disney by attorney Steven Marenberg show a comparison look at the logos side by side:

Disney is asking for an injunction and destruction of all DVDs for Frozen Land and compensatory and damages, lost profits and actual damages.

Should You Buy the Refillable Mugs at Disney World?

Rapid Fill mug Green
Rapid Fill mug Green

Green Rapid Fill Mug

My family used to wrestle with the question – should we buy the refillable mugs?  If you are on any of the Disney Dining Plans, the answer is an easy “no” because the mugs are already included in your dining package price.  For those of us who do not purchase the dining plan, then evaluating the refillable mug purchase is worth consideration.   The refillable mugs are purchased at your Disney resort and offer free refills of coffee, pop, tea, or hot chocolate.  The refillable mugs can be purchased for length of stay ($17.99), 1 day ($8.99), 2 days ($11.99), or 3 days ($14.99) and can be refilled at resort self-service beverage locations.  Now that the mugs have RFID chips in them, they are set to expire at midnight the last day of whatever length you purchased.

The value of the refillable mug comes down to how you vacation while you are at Disney.  Many families also consider the refillable mug itself to be a souvenir.  If your family falls into that category, remember to factor in that value when you are figuring out whether you should purchase the refillable mug.  When thinking about your Disney vacation, consider how much time is spent at your resort and how often you would be purchasing a drink at the resort’s self-service beverage location(s).  You can then use that number of drinks to figure out whether the mug price is a good value by multiplying the number of drinks you will be getting at your resort and comparing it against the cost of the refillable mug.  If you break even or the cost is more than the price of the refillable mug, then purchase the mug.  If the cost of the mug is more, then you need to consider how much value the mug brings you as a souvenir and if the answer is not much, then perhaps purchasing the mug is not the best investment.

What did you decide?  Should you buy the refillable mug?  What other factors do you consider when trying to decide?

Are ride photos coming soon to your favorite Disney World attractions?

Boy Oh Boy! Do I have some Disney Gossip for you! Are photos coming soon to your favorite attractions? With the introduction of Memory Maker, I’m told it could happen.

Rumor is Disney will install cameras at Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Photo buying areas will be added to the location where Yankee Trader gift shop is, to the Pirates Gift Shop, and The Briar Patch Store.

I’ve been asked if Disney will reimagine the Yankee Trader gift shop to be a Haunted Mansion Gift Shop. It’s a possibility, but we will have to wait and see!

My sources tell me your photo will be taken with the hitchhiking ghosts in the Haunted Mansion, during the drop on Pirates of the Caribbean, AND Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is 2 photo ops – on the never-ending turn and in the old earthquake scene.

Anywho, that’s all the Disney Gossip I have for now. While Chippy has been away, the Disney gossip been pouring in. Got any good gossip/rumors please email me at [email protected] or on my facebook pageFor my past gossip articles be sure to check them out here
