This Week’s Aerial Photos of Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios

Hi there Chip and Company friends! It has been whole month since we had our last check-in with @bioreconstruct. I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to get the latest bird’s eye view to see how construction progress is going at Hollywood Studios. We can now identify Woody’s Lunch Box counter service added to Toy Story Land and more concrete is being pursed to create the tunnel between Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Grand Avenue. Let’s take a look….

TOY STORY LAND

A great overview of the entire Toy Story Land!

A close up aerial view of part of the Slink Dog Dash track and Alien Swirling Saucers.

It looks like the Slinky Dog ride vehicle has gotten rid of his blue cover and is getting ready for action.

This is Woody’s Lunch Box! The story goes that Andy has used his lunch box and thermos to create a walk-up quick-service window that will serve up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats. You can compare it to the below concept art of the finished location.

STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE

This is the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge side of the new entrance tunnel into the new land. It will transition guests from Grand Avenue into the Star Wars-inspired lands.

A side view of the tunnel (top center of photo). Who else can’t wait to walk through it?

Aerial shots of the Millennium Falcon attraction. It appears new support structures are being installed for theming of the area.

The construction on the Battle Escape show building is moving along. Anyone want to guess what the second floor landing will be used for?

Disney has announced that Toy Story Land will open Summer of 2018! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is scheduled to open sometime in 2019.

The Walt Disney Company Denies Advance Screenings to LA Times

Walt Disney

On Friday, November 3rd, the Los Angeles Times posted a note to its readers stating that reviews of Disney movies and programs would not be included in their annual Holiday Movies Sneaks section, as the Walt Disney Company is not offering the LA Times advance screenings. The note reads:

“The annual Holiday Movie Sneaks section published by the Los Angeles Times typically includes features on movies from all major studios, reflecting the diversity of films Hollywood offers during the holidays, one of the busiest box-office periods of the year. This year, Walt Disney Co. studios declined to offer The Times advance screenings, citing what it called unfair coverage of its business ties with Anaheim. The Times will continue to review and cover Disney movies and programs when they are available to the public.”

The unfair coverage on the Walt Disney Company, referred to in the note, can be found HERE.

New Holiday Themed Magic Shot Available at Hollywood Studios

HS MS

We’ve been talking a lot this week about the amazing Christmas decorations that have gone up over at Hollywood Studios.  With the arrival of all of the wreaths, garlands and decorated street lamps also comes a brand new Magic Shot that our contributor Lisette was lucky enough to capture this week.

Here’s a closer look:

New Holiday Themed Magic Shot Available at Hollywood Studios

This special Tinkerbell shot was taken on Hollywood Boulevard looking back at the park entrance.  The key is being snapped with the garland overhead so that Tinkerbell is able to add her special Christmas touches!

This shot has not yet been added to the running list of Magic Shots currently available on the PhotoPass Facebook page but if you see a PhotoPass photographer in this area of Hollywood Studios, definitely go ahead and request that a bit of Tinkerbell magic be added to your photo.

As a special treat, it also comes in this fun animated shot:

This is just one of the many special Magic Shots we expect to be cropping up in and around the theme parks in the lead-in to Christmas.  Keep following along with Chip and Co and we promise to keep you up to date on the festive PhotoPass offerings still to come!

The Many Cultures of ‘it’s a small world’: Europe

Europe

We all know that a visit to Disney can be both fun and educational. Whether it’s a visit to the World Showcase at Epcot in Walt Disney World or a ride on “it’s a small world” at Disneyland, there is something to be learned at every turn.

For this article, let’s take a closer look at “it’s a small world.” The iconic attraction offers Guests an opportunity to learn about different cultures around the world. One of the cultures that “The happiest Cruise Around the World” explores is Europe.

As your boat enters Europe, you pass under Tower Bridge. This bridge is an iconic landmark located in London, England. Keeping guard at the bridge are Yeomen Warders, or Beefeaters, dressed in their ceremonial scarlet and gold uniforms.

Rising above you as your boat sails by is the Eiffel Tower located in Paris, France. Nineteenth-century can-can dancers invite you to join in on the celebration as ballerinas put on a show beneath the iconic tower.

Enjoy the sounds of Flamenco music as your boat next passes into Spain and Portugal. A guitarist plays a fast-paced tempo as a young dancer, in a Sevillana dress full of ruffles and color, claps her hands and dances to the rhythm.

Your boat continues the tour of Europe in Italy. Titling to one side is one of Italy’s iconic landmarks, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. A gondolier navigates his swinging gondola through the Venice canals as a chorus of Italian opera singers belt out the attraction’s famous tune.

Welcoming you the Low Countries are Dutch children sitting on top of blooming tulips, tapping their wooden clogs. Right behind them, a Belgian goose girl leads a flock of geese.

With the Alps soaring up into the sky, bell ringers inside chalet-inspired wooden clocks bid you farewell and safe travels.

Houston Astros Celebrate World Series Title with Victory Parade at Walt Disney World Resort

Astros Victory Parade

Saturday a World Series victory celebration for The Houston Astros’ made its way from coast to coast, culminating in a colorful parade at Walt Disney World Resort that saluted the team’s first world title in its 56-year history.

After clinching the World Series championship in Los Angeles on Wednesday and then taking part in a citywide party in Houston on Friday, Astros star players George Springer (World Series MVP), newly engaged Carlos Correa and American League batting champion Jose Altuve brought the party to Magic Kingdom Park. They signed autographs, posed for selfies with fans and experienced signature Disney attractions – of course they checked out Astro Orbiter – during a whirlwind celebration that personified the amazing power of magic that only happens at Disney Parks.

Then, in front of thousands of enthusiastic fans who lined one of the most famous streets in the world – Main Street, U.S.A., at Magic Kingdom Park – Springer, Altuve and Correa got a one-of-a kind ride atop a magical parade float surrounded by a sea of balloons, confetti and celebratory cheers.

Afterwards, the players and their families joined Mickey Mouse and his pals – who all happened to be perfectly dressed for the occasion in their classic baseball uniforms – for photos in front of the iconic Cinderella Castle. It was a day the Houston trio, their family and their fans likely won’t soon forget.

“It’s been an amzing day,” said Astros shortstop Carlos Correa. “I feel like a kid all over again getting to go to Disney World and spending time with all of these people here who are supporting us and celebrating the (World Series) championship with us. I will never forget the people cheering and crying during the parade. It was the best thing ever and a memory I will never forget.”

The spectacular Disney scene was the culmination of a long-awaited dream for the Astros and the city of Houston which supported the team for 56 years despite never winning a World Series title – and throughout the recent hurricane and subsequent flooding that devastated the city. A bright spot emerged Wednesday night with Houston’s series-winning Game 7 win that propelled the club, its city and its fans to the top of the baseball universe. And to the most magical place on earth.

Their appearance at Disney continued a long and popular tradition of celebrating the world’s greatest sports and entertainment achievements at Disney Parks, a beloved ritual that dates back to 1987. Springer, Correa and Altuve are now among a star-studded lineup of sports heroes – from Super Bowls, NBA Championships, Olympic Games, Stanley Cup championships and so many more – who have celebrated milestone accomplishments by “Going to Disney World!”

This Dreamy Mini Snow White Handbag is So Charming

Snow White Handbag

This time of year I really love a handbag with earthy and neutral colors, but it can be a bit tough to find a Disney purse that isn’t super vibrant. This charming Snow White HandbagThis Dreamy Mini Snow White Handbag is So Charming however has nice subtle earth tones, with small pops of color for a stunning purse.

This mini cross body bag is the perfect size for your wallet, keys, phone, and a few odds and ends, like lip balm, brush etc. It has a sleek look that pairs well with cozy sweaters and boots for the chillier weather this time of year too. I love the water color princess design, it shows off Snow White’s grace, without being too cartoony. The strap is removable, so you can use it as an over the shoulder bag, or an arm bag. Best of all, it’s super affordable at under $15.00 shipped!

What would you pair this dreamy Snow White Handbag with?

Thor: Ragnarok Brings Down the Hammer With an Impressive Opening Weekend

Thor: Ragnarok Brings Down the Hammer With an Impressive Opening Weekend

It’s been an impressive opening weekend for Thor:Ragnarok which smashed it when it comes to box office numbers.  According to a piece in Entertainment Weekly, the film crossed $48.6 million dollars on Friday alone as is expected to finish its opening weekend with a gross of $120 million.

This means that Thor: Ragnarok is the most successful film in the franchise to date.  It also marks the first time director Taika Waititi has been at the helm.

To show just how well Thor: Ragnarock is stacking up against other hits in the Marvel universe, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 earned $56.3 million on it’s opening night.  Spider-Man: Homecoming came it at around $50.5 million.

The latest film in the franchise sees Chris Hemsworth reprising the role as he squares up against Hela (The Goddess of Death) played by Cate Blanchett.  When Hela takes over the throne of Asgard and destroys Thor’s mighty hammer, he finds himself imprisoned on the other side of the Universe.  What ensues is a race against time to stop the destruction of his home world with help from a few friends both new and old.  The film also stars Jeff Goldblum, Tom Hiddleston, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Thor:Ragnarok opened nationwide on November 3, 2017.
