Festive Holiday Photo Tour of Hollywood Studios! First Look at Some of the Amazing Holiday Offerings!

The holidays have arrived at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios! Decorations are up, holiday treats are plentiful, adorable holiday buckets are ready to be filled with popcorn and a new holiday show is getting ready for the official debut. This past week Chip and Company’s Chip Confer and contributor Lizette Raynor double-teamed the park to give us a first look at all the holiday festivities this season at Hollywood Studios.

Pluto is all decked out in his holiday sweater for this year’s collector holiday popcorn bucket. This adorable bucket is $13.50 and is refillable at Hollywood Studios. A second popcorn bucket is also available featuring Mickey and The Gang showcasing their holiday best.

If your sweet tooth needs a little satisfying, Hollywood Studios has plenty of festive holiday cupcakes and treats. The seasonal Gingerbread Cupcake has a light, fluffy, smooth cream cheese frosting. Yummy!

Holiday decorations fill the park. From the park entrance, down Hollywood Boulevard to Echo Lake, the Christmas season has arrived at Hollywood Studios!

A new flight featuring “spirited” hot chocolate available is available at Farifax Fare and Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner. There are three different hot chocolate flavors available and you can purchase a whole one individually for $9.25 or a flight three smaller versions for $11.00.

In case cupcakes didn’t satisfy your sugar craving, how about an Olaf Sundae created on top of a Krispy Kreme jelly donut?!

Here’s a sneak peak of “Sunset Seasons Greetings.” This brand new show will take place during the holidays down Sunset Boulevard and features amazing projections on the Tower of Terror as well as holiday displays on the new LED signage.

Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Runner Collapses And Dies

Runner Collapses

In sad news today, Jacquee Wahler, a spokesperson for Walt Disney World has confirmed that yesterday a runner participating in the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon has died. The runner apparently collapsed upon nearing the finish line and then later died.

“We offer our sincerest sympathies to the family and loved ones of the runner during this difficult time,” Wahler said.

In Wahler’s statement she did not disclose the runner’s name, age or details of the death.

The 13.1-mile race, in its eighth year, started at the Magic Kingdom parking lot at 5:30 am and ended at Epcot. This year there were close to 15,000 registrants for the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon.

Thor: Ragnarok Has Thunderous Opening Weekend With $121 Million In Sales

The third installment in Marvel’s Thor franchise has proven to be a massive box office success since opening on Friday. In a recent article by Entertainment Weekly, it was revealed that Ragnarok stomped the competition earning a mightly impressive $121 million in the U.S. and Canada over its first weekend. This makes the film the fourth-largest debut of 2017 behind Beauty and the Beast, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and It. 

 

The latest film in the franchise sees Chris Hemsworth reprising the role of the God of Thunder as he squares up against Hela (The Goddess of Death) played by Cate Blanchett.  When Hela takes over the throne of Asgard and destroys Thor’s mighty hammer, he finds himself imprisoned on the other side of the Universe.  What ensues is a race against time to stop the destruction of his homeworld with help from a few friends both new and old.  The film also stars Jeff Goldblum, Tom Hiddleston, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins and Benedict Cumberbatch.

All year long we have been following Casey’s Corner as they release a new special featured hot dog every month, and they are knocking it out of the park again, with November’s Hot Dog of the Month! The delicious all-beef hot dog is topped with pulled pork, cole slaw, and barbecue sauce, served with your choice of apple slices of french fries.

Casey’s Corner is a baseball themed quick service restaurant located on the corner of Main Street U.S.A in Magic Kingdom. Casey’s serves ballpark fare that guests can enjoy at the outdoor seating, while listening to ragtime tunes played by Jim on the piano. Park guests using one of the Disney dining plans will find many menu items qualify as meal or snack credits.

Female Runner Wins Half Marathon

History was made over the weekend during the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon. Giovanna Martins of Salto, Brazil is believed to be the first woman to be the overall winner of a major half marathon race. A major half marathon race is determined by having more than 10,000 male and female runners. She is also the first runDisney female runner to reach the finish line first in the 13.1-mile race.

The 34-year-old runner dashed past second-place finisher, Paul Graham of Whitehaven, UK (1:19:22) winning the race by six seconds with a time of 1:19:16. Joseph Dreher of Melbourne, FL took third place with a time of 1:20:27.

“To my knowledge, this is the first time a female runner has won a major half marathon race that included both male and female runners,” said race director Jon Hughes. “What I think is amazing is that in the 80s, the race field was only 15% women. Fast forward to today and our race participants are nearly 65% female. It’s exciting to see the growth of female participation, and to see women becoming more competitive and making gains in the industry.”

“To be the first, now that’s historic for Brazil, it’s historic for this race. It’s a story I’ll tell my family, friends and students. I’ll never forget it,” said Martins.

Martins, who won the women’s division of last year’s Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon, broke her personal record for the race. She is the only female runner to win four runDisney races at Walt Disney World Resort – winning the women’s division at the Walt Disney World Marathon in 2015 and 2017. Last year, Martins learned that her nephew was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy, inspiring her to run on his behalf and spread awareness for kids with similar conditions.

Following the race on Sunday, thousands of runners attended the Post-Race Party at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

Martins was one of 35,000 runners who participated in the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend presented by MISFIT, which included the Disney Fall Feast 5K, Disney Wine and Dine 10K, Kids races, Disney Two Course Challenge (running the 10K and half marathon), plus a Health & Fitness Expo featuring the latest in fitness apparel and products.

When we heard about the new flight featuring “spirited” hot chocolate available at Hollywood Studios we knew we had to share it with our readers! Today, our reporter, Lisette, swung by Hollywood Studios just to get us all the magical details on this new festive adult beverage option.

First off, the flights are available at two locations inside Hollywood Studios, Farifax Fare and Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner. There are three different hot chocolate flavors available and you can purchase a whole one individually for $9.25 or a flight three smaller versions for $11.00.

Hollywood Studios

The three different flavors available are:

  • Hot Chocolate Martini
  • Bailey’s Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
  • Black Cherry Bourbon Hot Chocolate

If you visit the Farifax Fare location for your hot chocolate, make sure to add the Red Velvet Holiday Whoopie Pie to your order too! TheRed Velvet Whoopie Pie is held together with frosting then sprinkled with powdered sugar and sprinkles. Yummy!

If you were curious, Lisette said the Bailey’s Salted Hot Chocolate is her favorite! Adorable Holiday Popcorn Buckets Have Arrived at Walt Disney World

The holiday decorations are up and now the much-anticipated holiday popcorn bucket has arrived at Walt Disney World! And, I have to say, they have outdone themselves this year! This year’s holiday collectors popcorn bucket features the playful Pluto wearing an adorable holiday sweater.

So far, we can confirm the Pluto popcorn buckets are available at all the popcorn carts in Hollywood Studios and the popcorn cart in the Magic Kindom near Space Mountain. We are sure there are plenty other locations as well so let us know when you find them!

This year, the popcorn buckets are also refillable inside Hollywood Studios. They will cost you $13.50 plus tax.

Hi there Chip and Company friends! It has been whole month since we had our last check-in with @bioreconstruct. I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to get the latest bird’s eye view to see how construction progress is going at Hollywood Studios. We can now identify Woody’s Lunch Box counter service added to Toy Story Land and more concrete is being pursed to create the tunnel between Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Grand Avenue. Let’s take a look….

TOY STORY LAND

It looks like the Slinky Dog ride vehicle has gotten rid of his blue cover and is getting ready for action.

This is Woody’s Lunch Box! The story goes that Andy has used his lunch box and thermos to create a walk-up quick-service window that will serve up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats. You can compare it to the below concept art of the finished location.

STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE

This is the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge side of the new entrance tunnel into the new land. It will transition guests from Grand Avenue into the Star Wars-inspired lands.

Aerial shots of the Millennium Falcon attraction. It appears new support structures are being installed for theming of the area.

The construction on the Battle Escape show building is moving along. Anyone want to guess what the second floor landing will be used for?

Disney has announced that Toy Story Land will open Summer of 2018! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is scheduled to open sometime in 2019.
