Phantom Manor Reopening Is Delayed to Early 2019

Phantom Manor fans, beware! With all of the work being done on this classic attraction, the Phantom Manor reopening has been delayed to early 2019.

While the original plan was for the refurbishment to last only until this Fall, things have been taking a little longer than expected. The reopening will bring with the return of Vincent Price as his narration is reworked into this spooky, fan-favorite attraction.

In addition, Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald, hinted to Fan Daze attendees that we will all finally learn who the titular phantom really is.

What else is there for guests to look forward to this summer? How about an entire summer long event featuring your favorite Marvel Superheros?

And right around the time of the Phantom Manor reopening, we will also see the beginning of a major expansion as the Disneyland Paris Resort will begin to develop Star Wars, Marvel and Frozen lands. All of which we do not want to miss!

Rides, Attractions, and More Coming to Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World

At last year’s D23 Expo in California, several new attractions, rides, and more were confirmed for Walt Disney World. If you’re like me, it’s been a job keeping up with the dates when every new option at Walt Disney World will eventually open. I have put this list together to have all the new attractions, rides, and more in once place and the estimated time when they will open.

Toy Story Land

As you are probably well aware, Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios is opening in less than two weeks on June 30, 2018!

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Probably the most anticipated attraction to open at Walt Disney World in recent years will be when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens next year at Hollywood Studios! While no exact date has been given yet, Disney has confirmed it will open in “late Fall” 2019.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railroad

Also opening next year in 2019 at Hollywood Studios will be Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railroad. The ride will take over the same space as the now-closed Great Movie Ride.

New Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

2019 will bring two new resort options to Walt Disney World. The first will be a new tower opening at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. It has not been confirmed but the tower is scheduled to open Summer 2019.

Riviera Disney Vacation Club Tower at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

While no exact date has been given for the opening of the new Disney Vacation Club property, we have heard reports that it will open in Fall 2019.

Disney Skyliner

The new gondola transportation system that is currently under construction does not have an official opening date yet. However, we anticipate it to open sometime in 2020.

Tron

One of the rides that I am most excited about opening, the Tron Coaster, is confirmed to open at the Magic Kingdom in 2021.

Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster

The “Guardians of the Galaxy”-themed coaster is slated to open at Epcot in 2021. Once open, it will be one of the world’s largest enclosed coasters.

Ratatouille Ride

The ride inspired by the popular “Ratatouille” movie is confirmed to be opening in 2021 at Epcot.

Star Wars Hotel

The new Walt Disney World Hotel everyone is anxiously anticipating for it’s doors to open does not have a confirmed opening date by Disney. However, we do believe it will be open in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary in 2021!

Space Restaurant

The new restaurant going in at Epcot adjacent to Mission: SPACE also has no official opening date. Details are still a little cloudy about this new restaurant so we are not even sure of an idea of when it will open. It could be this year but it also could be as far away as 2021. However, I do believe some of the new technology that will be going into the Star Wars Hotel will be used first at this new restaurant so I do think it will be open prior to 2021.

Keep it here with Chip & Co for all the latest on everything on this list including when Disney announces the official opening dates!

Review: “LEGO The Incredibles” Video Game

Review: "LEGO The Incredibles" Video Game

“LEGO The Incredibles” video game is making this summer even more SUPER at our house. The new game featuring the Parr family made its debut on June 15th, not so coincidentally on the same day Incredibles 2 made its way to theaters. My family decided to make it an Incredible day by first seeing the movie and then heading straight home to reenact our favorite scenes in LEGO form.

LEGO The Incredibles

I have two boys ages 6 and 9 and they absolutely loved this game. They can choose to be their favorite Parr family character working to fight crime using their amazing superpowers. Of course after seeing the movie they both fought over who was going to be Jack-Jack! We have enjoyed many LEGO video games in the past and for better or for worse The Incredibles release seems to use the same formula for gameplay as previous LEGO games.

You begin by playing through the storyline of Incredibles 2 focusing mainly on Elastigirl as she’s trying to take down Screen Slaver and save the brainwashed heroes. I highly recommend seeing the movie first as the game is one big spoiler alert. Once completed you move on to the storyline of the original Incredibles movie with the focus here being on Mr. Incredible as he struggles between being a hero, a good father and of course taking down Syndrome.

Incredibles LEGO

Lastly, you move onto an open-hub world for a free-play experience. It’s here that you work to rid the city of crime, complete action-packed side missions and defeat iconic Super Villains that control the city districts.

All-in-all I give this game a thumbs up. It isn’t groundbreaking in its gameplay formula but it is sure to entertain the whole family.

The game is available on consoles including Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, and PC. “LEGO The Incredibles” the video game is currently rated ‘E 10+’ (Everyone 10 and older).

The Exit From Space Mountain is Currently Under Refurbishment

Exit from Space Mountain

Exit from Space Mountain

Do you have plans to visit Walt Disney World and the Magic Kingdom in the near future? If so and you have plans to journey to space on, you will notice that a new exit from Space Mountain has been set up.

The Exit From Space Mountain is Currently Under Refurbishment Exit from Space Mountain

If you have rode Space Mountain in the past, you will know that after you got off of your spaceship, you took a moving walkway to exit from the ride and ended up in the Tomorrowland Light and Power Co. Gift Shop. Due to the moving walkways occasionally malfunctioning and not being able to be used by guests. they are under repair which has caused the exit from Space Mountain to be re-figured.

The Exit From Space Mountain is Currently Under Refurbishment Exit from Space Mountain

Now, when you exit the ride, you will go on a small journey of some sort! Guests now are directed to exit from an emergency exit in the back of the attraction. From there, guests are lead through a backstage area of the Magic Kingdom. To get back to Tomorrowland, guests are required to cross the tracks from the Walt Disney World Railroad. A Cast Member is on hand and will hold guests exiting the ride when a train is coming through.

While this temporary exit from Space Mountain may be an inconvenience to some guests, it’s actually pretty cool if you are a Disney Fanatic like me! While going through the backstage area, guests can see the area where the new Tron Coaster is being built!

Redesigned My Disney Experience App Launches with New Features Including Bus Wait Times

bus wait times

bus wait times

I am happy to report that the My Disney Experience app for Walt Disney World has just received a major overhaul! One of the main new features of the redesigned app is that availability for guests to check bus wait times.

In addition to being able to check for the bus wait times, guests will find the updated app features a new and improved design which will make it easier for guests to find what you are looking for including the mobile food ordering service to adding tickets, booking FastPass+ selections and discovering key park offerings.

The bus wait time feature will permit guests to spend less time waiting for buses and more time enjoying all that Walt Disney World has to offer. Guests will now be able to find up-to-the-minute estimates for when the next bus will depart from their Disney Resort hotel and when they will complete their journey to their destination.

The bus wait times will be constantly updated and will show estimates for when buses are scheduled to arrive to take guests to the four theme parks, two water parks, and Disney Springs. You can find the wait times by simply clicking on “See Bus Times” when viewing an active Disney Resort hotel reservation associated with their account.

The updated bus wait time feature is just the latest in updates to the My Disney Experience app. In the past year, Disney has added additional options to make the app even more convenient for guests including allowing guests to view room charges, keep track of Disney dining plan usage, check in online to start their vacation even faster, use their mobile devices as a digital key (now available at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and coming soon to additional Disney Resort hotels) and more.

Mickey Ice Cream Bar Minnie Ears Are Deliciously Cute

Mickey Ice Cream Bar Minnie Ears

The Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar, has long been one of my favorite treats to get at the Disney Parks. There’s nothing like biting into a cool Mickey ice cream on a hot summer day. With summer here, these Mickey Ice Cream Bar Minnie Ears are the perfect accessory to rock our Disney Side with.

Mickey Ice Cream Bar Minnie Ears Are Deliciously Cute

These scrumptiously cute ears are set to melt our hearts this week at Disneyland Resort, and will be available to scoop up at Walt Disney World Resort in July. Sparkling sequins coat these ears like the crisp chocolate on the Mickey ice cream bar, with a shimmer pink bow in the center for a pop of color. A bite is even taken out of one ear revealing the vanilla ice cream inside. This summer style treat is the perfect low calorie Disney treat for me!

With all of these gorgeously styled Minnie Ears lately, like these, the Rose Gold, and the Millennial Pink ones, I can’t even imagine what they might think of next! Maybe we’ll see more snack inspired ears in the future too.

I will definetly be scooping a pair of these Mickey Ice Cream Bar Minnie Ears up when they debut at the Disney Parks and Resorts this summer. What about you?
