Actress Ashley Eckstein to Judge Costume Contest at The Edison's Halloween Soiree!

We’re excited to announce Actress and Her Universe Founder Ashley Eckstein, will host the costume contest at The Edison’s Halloween Soirée, presented by Hot Topic.  Winners will receive a Nightmare Before Christmas themed Gift Card for Hot Topic and a gift card to any Patina Restaurant Group restaurant in Disney Springs – Grand Prize $500, Second Place $300, Third Place $100. A HALLOWEEN SOIRÉE AT THE EDISON

The Edison at Disney Springs will host a bone-chilling Halloween soirée in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Disney Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Guests are encouraged to pay tribute to the beloved cult classic by dressing in themed costumes for a ghoulishly good time. Tickets are $85 per person and guests must be 21 or older to attend. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. to all manner of spooky spirits, goblins and ghosts. Ticket prices include a complimentary welcome cocktail, as well as wickedly delicious small bites and signature sips inspired by the film. Attendees can sink their fangs into the variety of passed hors d’oeuvres and enjoy creative cocktails cooked up by the restaurant’s talented kitchen and bar staff. The Edison’s full food & beverage menu will also be available for purchase. An entertainment line-up Jack Skellington would be proud of will also be provided, complete with flying aerialists, costumed stilt-walkers, dancers, haunting live music, and more. Guests can dance the night away among a merry band of misfit monsters in The Edison’s fantasy world of holiday fun. Party-goers who post their photos and tag @theedisonfla #Nightmare25 will have the chance to win a gift card to be used during a future visit to The Edison at Disney Springs.

Disney Corner at Disney Springs Will Forever Close It's Doors on Halloween

The Disney Corner will close up for good this Halloween. With World of Disney previously under renovations at Disney Springs, Disney introduced a brilliant way to still be able to get some of your more fashion-friendly finds at Disney Springs by opening up The Disney Corner! Located just next to the escalators to Lime Garage and across from the Polite Pig, The Disney Corner is in a centrally located and easy to find spot. Now that the World of Disney has opened, the temporary shop will close up to combine the two stores. We were in Disney Springs this morning for the Orange Bird Funko Pop release and the new Disney Kate Spade launch when a Cast Member let us know about the final day for the Corner.  We loved the store but are thrilled with the new World of Disney Remodel and all there is inside!

Not long ago we brought you the news that The Plaza, an enduring Magic Kingdom staple, would begin offering breakfast for a limited time beginning from November 4, 2018, and continuing through January 2019.  If you were clamoring for a reservation and couldn’t get one or if you’ll be there in early spring, you’re in luck! It appears as if reservations have been extended for The Plaza restaurant through March 2, 2019.

Disney has not announced whether this is just an extension of the limited time offering or if they are slowly rolling out a permanent change. We certainly hope we can look forward to breakfast at The Plaza for many trips to come!

The menu includes a variety of options that are sure to please every palate from the pickiest to the most refined. Options will range from a good old all American eggs and bacon dish to Lobster Benedict with crispy fried green tomatoes! Additionally, there will be a create your own omelet station with fresh ingredients including sausage, bacon, ham, onions, peppers, tomatoes, and cheese. And just in case you forgot, yes, there will be Mickey Waffles!!!

Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Celebrates 20 Years

Visiting the  Walt Disney World Resort‘s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa over the holidays is a tradition near and dear to my family.  We love the stunning Christmas tree and decorations, holiday songs from the lobby pianist and of course, the most amazing life-size Gingerbread House Display.

I had the privilege of meeting with the fantastic Chef William Clark from the Grand Floridian bakery yesterday. He provided some insight into this year’s Gingerbread House display, which is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary!

The bakery and the chefs at the Grand Floridian started preparations for this year’s display over the summer.  Did you know that it takes over 400 hours to bake and prepare and over 160 hours of construction for this annual tradition?

This is the size of one of the mixers used to create the massive amount of gingerbread needed to construct the Grand Floridian’s giant gingerbread house.

That is some serious gingerbread!

Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Celebrates 20 Years

Construction of this year’s Gingerbread House will begin on Wednesday, November 7th with the expected completion date of Sunday, November 11th.

Disney is all about the details and this display will offer nothing less!  There will be some special display signage to celebrate this anniversary.  There will also be a white chocolate plaque in honor of Chef Erich Herbitscheck who retired from the Grand Floridian in June of this year.  Chef Erich has been creating this display every year since its inception.

We also got a preview of some of the other holiday treats that will be offered at the Grand Floridian Resort this year.

There will be the traditional Gingerbread cookies and shingles.  Pricing is not yet available.

There will be a special 20th Anniversary Gingerbread House for purchase.  The price is not currently available.

Changes To Extra Magic Hours At Walt Disney World

Fall is the season for changes!  And this is no different at the Walt Disney World Resort!  Guests who are visiting the Walt Disney World Resort next week should be aware that there have been some changes in the Extra Magic Hours Schedule for Epcot and Animal Kingdom.

Let’s take a look at what guests can expect.

EPCOT

  • There will be extra magic hours on Sunday, October 28 from 9-11 p.m. at Epcot.
  • Due to to this change, Extra Magic Hours will NOT be offered on Tuesday, October 30.

AK

Animal Kingdom

  • Extra Magic Hours will be offered on Tuesday, October 30 from 8 am to 9 am at Animal Kingdom Park
  • There is no long Extra Magic Hours scheduled for  October 29th.
  • The will still be Extra Magic Hours on Saturday, November 3rd from 8 an to 9am.

Make sure to check the park hours schedule on your www.mydisneyexperience.com while you are visiting the parks.  The app will have the most up to date information on hours, attraction wait times, showtimes, character meet and greets and more.

Sharing Some Secrets About The Haunted Mansion Tombstones

Have you ever taken a close look at the tombstones at the Haunted Mansion at the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World resort? One of the things I love the most about Disney is all of their attention to details.  The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite attractions because this really shines through here!

The Disney Imagineers really got creative with the tombstones at the Haunted Mansion. They showcase clever sayings, rhymes and play-on-words.  These little gems really catch guests’ attention as they make their way into the attraction.

Walt Disney Imagineering shared the following video. They describe how many of these tombstones pay tribute to famous Disney Legends and Imagineers who helped create the attraction. For example, one headstone refers to “Master Gracey”.  This is a reference to Imagineer Yale Gracey, a special effects extraordinaire who brought the spirits of the Haunted Mansion to life.   “Grandpa Marc,” is a tribute to Marc Davis, who was the artist behind the stretching portraits. Other tombstones references include “Haunting Harriet”.  This is for Harriet Burns, WED Enterprises’ first female employee who created models for the attraction.  There is also a“Brother Claude”.  This is a reference to Claude Coats, who developed the mansion’s interior and more.

The Rock the Universe weekend has been held at the Universal Orlando resort since 1998.  For 2019, the dates of this event have moved from September to February 1st and February 2nd, 2019.  Tickets are on sale now!

Rock the Universe is a weekend of inspirational concerts with Christian artists, exciting rides and entertainment.

Just Announced: New Tony’s Most Merriest Town Square Party

An all NEW addition to the holiday season at Disney has been announced! Tony’s Most Merriest Town Square Party! We love Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and they have built off of that to add this new package for Magic Kingdom park-goers!  At this new and special experience beginning at 9:30 p.m., you can pop in and out at your leisure and indulge in savory hors d’oeuvres including a selection of artisanal meats and cheeses as well as Tony’s famous meatballs, mini hand-tossed pizzas, Boursin-stuffed artichoke and more! And if you’re wanting to satisfy that sweet tooth, then you can snack on pumpkin tartlets, Yule Logs, cannoli, Christmas cookies, and red velvet cupcakes.

The party doesn’t stop there! Receive a  complimentary beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages while you eat and enjoy the views of Main St Disney World.  At 11:00 p.m., you’ll have access to a special reserved viewing area for the truly enchanting Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade as it makes its way down Main Street, U.S.A. The festive procession includes dancing gingerbread men, marching toy soldiers and beloved Disney characters in their holiday finery. And the party continues until 12:30 a.m., ever longer than Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!

Tony’s Most Merriest Town Square Party is available for $99 per person (plus tax) every Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party event night at Magic Kingdom Park. I love cute daily planners like Happy Planner, and LifePlanner. Imagine my surprise to see that there are adorable new Disney Planners available at the Disney Parks! These planners come in three varieties, and each one is fabulous in its own way.

The planners come in pink, blue, and purple, and each one has it’s own kind of theme. They are available for $17.99 at select locations, and I have to admit I’m having a hard time choosing which one I want most! These are coil bound, and do not have removable or interchangeable pages.

Disneyland Paris has recently introduced a new paid FastPass system, allowing you to skip queues and spend more time on your favourite FastPass attractions!

The new FastPass system features two types of FastPass- the Super FastPass and the Ultimate FastPass and within these type are two different options.

The Super FastPass splits into two categories- ‘Family Attraction’ and ‘Big Thrill Adventures’. Guests purchasing a FastPass from one of the categories can enjoy a single, speedy entry to three of the ‘Family Attraction’ or ‘Big Thrill Adventure’ attractions! Rides included in the ‘Family Attraction’ are Ratatouille: The Adventure, Peter Pan’s Flight and Buzz Lightyear’s Lazer Blast. Attractions included in the ‘Big Thrill Adventure’ are Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith and Tower of Terror.

The Super FastPass prices are divided into low and high prices depending on the season; low season starts from £26/$34 and high from £40/$52. Please note that Super FastPass purchased from the 7th November increase in price for American guests, with low from $38 and high from $58.

The Ultimate FastPass also has two categories like the Super FastPass. However, purchasing this tier of FastPass will grant you speedy access to all FastPass attractions. The first option allows you a one time ride on all the FastPass attractions. Whereas, the second option will allow you unlimited speedy access to all the FastPass attractions.

The attractions which offer FastPass entry for the Unlimited FastPass are Ratatouille: The Adventure, Peter Pan’s Flight, Buzz Lightyear’s Lazer Blast, Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith, Tower of Terror, with the addition of Star Tours: The Adventure Continues and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril.

The Ultimate one-time speedy access is also divided into low and high season; low from £53/$69 and high from £79/$103. Please note that Ultimate one-time  FastPass purchased from the 7th November increase in price for American guests, with low from $77 and high from $115.

Alternatively, the Ultimate unlimited access in low season starts from £106/ $136 and in high season starts from £132/$172. Please note that unlimited FastPass purchased from the 7th November increase in price for American guests, with low from $154 and high from $192.

Make sure you book your FastPasses in advance as there are a limited number of them per day. The FastPass products are on sale via the official Disneyland Paris website or in the Disney Hotels and at the Park entrances- City Hall in the Disneyland Park and Studio Services in Walt Disney Studios Park. Disneyland Paris Annual Pass holders can also receive special discounts on both FastPass options.
