Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.

Directed by Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”) from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger (“Ophelia,” “Dream House”), and produced by Justin Springer (“TRON: Legacy”), Kruger, Katterli Frauenfelder (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Big Eyes”) and Derek Frey (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Frankenweenie”), “Dumbo” flies into theaters on March 29, 2019.

Walt Disney World Resort Guests Turn Wishing Well Coins into Support for Teens in Need

Walt Disney World Resort Guests Turn Wishing Well Coins into Support for Teens in Need –  Have you tossed a coin into a wishing well at a Disney Park? Maybe even into a water ride like “It’s A Small World” ride at The Magic Kingdom.  Every day park visitors toss all manner of coins, quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies. Across the parks in the Orlando area, that adds up to a lot of change.  What a guest might not realize, the coins are collected and then the funds are donated to nonprofit organizations.  The total for the wishes made and tossed into various fountains and wishing wells in 2018… $20,000!

Walt Disney World Resort Guests Turn Wishing Well Coins into Support for Teens in Need

Over the past two decades park guests have made wishes with coins totaling more than $325,000. Favorite locations are the Cinderella Castle Wishing Well and the mote of It’s A Small World. Another less well-known location for casting a wishing coin into the water, the queue for Expedition Everest.

Routine water-feature maintenance involves coin collection. The coins collected during maintenance are cleaned and then deposited. Once a year the deposits are donated. For 2018, Community Based Care of Central Florida was selected to receive the $20,000 wishing coin donation.  Community Based Care of Central Florida is the largest supporter of child welfare programs in Central Florida. The organization supports more than 3,000 children each day, with foster care and adoption to transitional and mentoring services.

“We are so humbled by the important work that Community Based Care of Central Florida provides to families of all shapes and sizes here in Central Florida,” said Tajiana Ancora-Brown, director of external affairs at Walt Disney World Resort. “These coins represent wishes made by our guests in a magical place, but the funding the coins provide will make a very real impact on our community.”

Part of the coin collection process is to select which programs of Community Based Care of Central Florida will benefit. Thousands of Walt Disney World Cast members took a vote and selected a youth transitional program to be the recipient of the wishing coin gift of $20,000. This program provides resources for foster care teens transitioning to adulthood – a safety net – in what can be difficult times.

Remember, the next time you toss a coin into the water at a Disney Park and make a wish, your wish and the wishes of thousands of other park visitors,  along with Cast Members help and the hard work of Community Based Care of Central Florida,  each act is helping make the dreams of teens in need come true!

Get Your Tickets Today For 'Ralph Breaks VR': A Hyper-Reality Experience

With the coming release of “Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Break the Internet” everyone is feeling super sweet, including Disney! So much so that they’ve developed a new attraction in both Disney Springs at Walt Disney World and the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland to accompany the film which will release November 21st.

Earlier in the year, Disney announced that they were teaming up with ILMxLAB and the VOID to bring a stand-alone, hyper-experience, VR experience to Disney properties. If you’re unfamiliar ILMxLAB, they are Lucasfilm’s immersive entertainment division! Enough said, right?

The new VR experience, entitled “Ralph Breaks VR”, is a hyper-realistic VR encounter that allows teams of four to “break into the internet” while playing as Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz. Guests (rather Ralph and Vanellope) will be disguised as “Netizens” in this multi-sensory adventure. New characters such as B.E.V (Built to Eradicate Viruses) and unfamiliar locations not featured in the films (Dunderdome and Pancake Milkshake Diner) will give guests a brand-new, never seen experience to enjoy.

Vicki Dobbs Beck, Executive in Charge of ILMxLAB was quoted as saying, “There is nothing more magical than stepping inside a rich animated world – especially one filled with color, life, humor and delightful characters as is the case with Ralph Breaks the Internet. Ralph Breaks VR is an experience that brings a smile to your face and the desire to have another go around with friends and family.”

Cheif-Creative Officer and CoFounder of the VOID, Curtis Hickman,  had this to say about the exciting new experience, “Designing the elements that pull you irresistibly into the unique world of Ralph and Vanellope has been an incredibly fun process. What we’ve created together with ILMxLAB is an astounding adventure that allows people to experience a unique extension of Wreck-It Ralph’s detailed characters, environments, and stories.”

The exhilarating encounter is set to open along with the film’s premiere on November 21st. The good news? You can purchase tickets as of today! A couple of notes: Guests for the experience must be at least 48″ tall and 10 years old. Information regarding the attraction and tickets purchasing options can be found at The Void.com.

It is worth noting, that a similar experience provided by ILMxLAB, “Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire” will remain in operation as well. Times for the event can also be found on the Void’s website.

So, get over to Disney Springs or the Downtown Disney District on November 21st and satisfy that sweet-tooth. Catch the new film, and then strap in for what’s sure to be a one-of-a-kind, unforgettable experience.

Celebrate the Holidays with Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas & Fraggle Rock

Celebrate the Holidays with Fraggle Rock

For the first time ever this December two Jim Henson Company holiday specials are coming to a theater near you.  If you were an 80’s kid then you are familiar with Fraggle Rock.  Thanks to Fathom Events and the Jim Henson Company, “Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas” and “The Bells of Fraggle Rock” will be shown on the big screen December 10th and 16th only.

Celebrate the Holidays with Fraggle Rock

This first-ever “Jim Henson’s Holiday Special” brings together 2 loveable holiday stories – each recently remastered – as told by the ever-endearing muppets.  It will also include a new featurette, “Memories of the Jug-Band,” with a surprise celebrity guest and a special greeting from Cheryl Henson, daughter of the late Jim Henson and President of the Jim Henson Foundation.

Celebrate the Holidays with Fraggle Rock

Tickets for this special are available at www.FathomEvents.com or check your local theater box office.

Can you believe it has been over 40 years since the musical holiday fable “Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas,” premiered on HBO?     With songs and music created by legendary Paul Williams, it’s no wonder fans will be embracing this classic tale once again.

“Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas”tells a simple but timeless tale of devotion between a mother and her son: Ma Otter (performed by Frank Oz, voiced by Marilyn Sokol) and Emmet Otter (performed by Jerry Nelson) have no money, but they want to do something special for each other at Christmas. They both decide to enter the local talent show to win the first prize of $50 — money that could change the holidays for them. “Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas” also features performances by Richard Hunt, Dave Goelz, Jim Henson, and Eren Ozker.

“‘Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas’ was a favorite project for my dad since it included such sweet characters, Paul Williams’ delightful music, and a timeless holiday message. Also, the special was a great opportunity for him to experiment with puppetry techniques and effects that would be seen in his later works,” said Cheryl Henson. “The citizens of Frogtown Hollow are sure to look their best in this remastered version. And it is exciting for families to share this holiday classic along with the special episode ‘The Bells of FraggleRock,’ a rare opportunity to see the Fraggles on the big screen, and to introduce these beloved characters to a whole new audience.”

Celebrate the Holidays with Fraggle Rock

The second story, “The Bells of Fraggle Rock” was first seen during Christmas 1984 when it premiered as a holiday-themed episode of the beloved, award-winning series “Fraggle Rock.”

Deftly addressing the melancholy many people feel during the holidays as they struggle to find meaning in this special time of year, “The Bells of Fraggle Rock” begins as Gobo Fraggle (Jerry Nelson) wonders why he doesn’t have his normal excitement over The Festival of the Bells, the most wonderful day of the year for Fraggles. Though his friends (Dave Goelz, Karen Prell, Kathryn Mullen, Steve Whitmire) try to cheer him up, Gobo ventures on an expedition to the center of Fraggle Rock – a journey that teaches him the importance of individual faith.

Have no fear.  If you miss this holiday box office special you will be able to purchase it on Blu-ray™ December 18, which will include the all-new “A Jug-Band Revival” featurette and more. Fans can also enjoy more Fraggle fun with “Fraggle Rock: The Complete Series,” available now, for the first time ever, on Blu-ray™.

This Disney Christmas Shirt Makes Me Feel Cheery and Festive

Disney Christmas Shirt

I can’t wait for Christmas this year! I’m especially excited to be spending Christmas Eve at Walt Disney World this year. So obviously I’m packing lots of holiday inspired items like this fun Disney Christmas Shirt.

The shirt is available on Etsy in over a dozen different colors, I’m feeling partial to the mint selection personally. I really love how the castle is made out of a strand of lights! Disney is written in the middle of the castle, and the strand of lights connect to the word “Christmas”. I bet it would look super adorable with the light-up Mickey jingle bell necklace too.

Would you wear this Disney Christmas Shirt while celebrating the holidays at Disney?

Plastic Makes a Brief Comeback at Magic Kingdom

plastic

plastic

Chip and Co. has been reporting about Magic Kingdom’s reduction in the use of plastic lids and straws. This is in keeping with Disney’s dedication to improving the environment. However, at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, there’s a lot of plastic in use.

If you’ve ever been to Mickey’s merry celebration, you know that part of the festivities is enjoying hot cocoa and cookies provided by the park. That’s a lot of cookies being distributed during each night of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and each cookie is individually wrapped in a plastic wrapper. We get it–wrapping the cookies in plastic keeps things sanitary and also keeps the cookies from getting stale.

They are also serving hot cocoa in paper cups with plastic lids and other beverages in plastic stemware during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

The use of plastic wrap, cups and stemware doesn’t mean in any way that Magic Kingdom will re-introduce plastic lids and straws in the park anytime soon, aside from items used during Mickey’s party.

Are you planning to enjoy cookies and hot cocoa with Mickey this year during his Very Merry Christmas Party? Have you joined Mickey at Christmastime before? If so, what’s your favorite part of this very special Christmas celebration? We’d love to hear from you in the comments section below!

Writers of Chip and Co. Share Their Favorite Stan Lee Moments

Stan Lee

Here at Chip and Co. we are deeply saddened by the passing of the father of Marvel and Disney Legend, Stan Lee. Our team has all been touched by his work in one way or another and we wanted to share some of our fondest memories and moments either with or inspired by him.

“I have been a Marvel comic buff since I was just 7 years old. My brother would take a comic book and sketch our favorite hero or villain on the wall of his room. By the time we graduated high school his entire room was covered in art from Stan Lee’s comic pages.  As the years went on and more of our favorite characters were featured in films my love affair with Marvel grew even stronger.  It would be hard to pick just one that I loved because each has such a unique and amazing back story. That is my favorite thing that Stan Lee has left us, amazing characters we can relate to and aspire to be.” -Heather

“So many memories of stories that took me to another place. To where superheroes with superhuman powers were real.  I grew up believing these characters may actually walk among us. I loved going to the theater to see the latest flick and being so excited to find the cameo appearance he was famed for.  I am thankful for the adventures he shared with us. Where good always trumps evil. Where doing right by your fellow human is the right thing to do. He showed us, there is a bit of superhero in us all.” -Erin

“Stan Lee wasn’t just a creator. He was an innovator, an advocate for those of us who are different. In a world that doesn’t accept those that go against the status quo, Lee creates an escape where limitless possibilities were highlighted by characters that were different as well. He made it possible for us to feel comfortable in our own skin. Much like the X-Men, he gave us the courage to accept our differences and use them to contribute to a better world.” -Michael

“Stan Lee has meant much to me throughout my life.  I grew up on Marvel comics and have loved them since I was a little girl, but he didn’t truly solidify himself as a real-life superhero in my book until my son was born. He has had some difficulties in his short life so far,  speech delay and social delay being among. Nothing we were doing helped, but one day he saw a Spiderman cartoon and was enamored! So we kept watching. One of his first complete sentences was “I luz Fyderman!” (I love Spiderman). The more we watched, the more he wanted to talk about.  Soon, he was wearing Spiderman costumes and playing pretend. Before we knew it our anxious boy was engaging with other kids at the park, asking them to play “Spidey” with him. Today, you’d be hard pressed to notice his difficulties. ALL because of Stan Lee and his Spiderman. For that I will be forever grateful and will always regard him as my sons superhero. Excelsior!” – Jill

“I was a teen when I met Stan Lee. He wasn’t the idolized star then that he later became, but to a young girl who loved to draw, and worked her weekends in a comic store, he was a hero. He was kind, and had a wise wit to him, and I will never forget everything he gave us, or how much he inspired the person I am today.” -Danielle

“I was incredibly upset when I had heard that Stan Lee had passed away this week. I have been a Marvel fan for as long as I can remember, my dog is even named “Cap” after Captain America. Anyway, one of my favorite ways he has impacted my life, besides the comics and films, is a tradition that my siblings have. My family has a little magnetic Spiderman that we can not remember how we got it, but ever since its arrival, my siblings use it as a form of “hide and seek.” Sometimes it remains hidden for hours and on occasion it takes months to find. It has even survived several moves across the country. Without Stan Lee’s Spiderman we wouldn’t have that small joy in our life’s and we would be lesser for it. I could go on and on about every way Marvel and Stan Lee has impacted my life and those around me but I will sum it all up to this. The world would be so much darker if it wasn’t for the insight and imagination of a man who saw heroic potential in everyone. Even in the kid next door. Thank you Stan for the all the joy, heartache, tears, and the never ending stories. I will treasure them always. Excelsior!” -Kaitlyn

Stan Lee was a pioneer of the industry and did so much for so many people. There have been few souls before him who have impacted the world of entertainment in the ways that he, and the incredible staff of Marvel, has done over the years. He is the Walt Disney of Superhero Comics. A true father figure for the franchise. His cameos bring a smile to your face and usually pair with a laugh at his witty one liners. Stan Lee is credited with creating and co-creating 100+ characters for Marvel Comics and overseeing decades of the story telling created by the talented staff at Marvel Comics and Marvel Studios. Thank you Stan, for leaving a legacy so deeply rooted in your fans and work that we shall never forget the lessons we have learned and the characters we love so dearly. We are indebted. May his memory be a blessing. Excelsior!
