Can you believe it’s almost the end of the year? As the year comes to a close, Disney always begins to put out the merchandise for the new year, and it looks like some new goodies are starting to hit the shelves. New 2019 Disney World Merchandise has already been spotted at World of Disney.

Two new hoodies, and two new tees featuring the 2019 logo have landed. I’m loving the dip dyed women’s 2019 tee featuring the logo.

There are also two mugs featuring the 2019 designs available at World of Disney. I love how the horizons of the four parks have also been incorporated into the yearly design this year. Usually it’s just the four major landmarks, but as you can see on the mug, other defining features of the parks have been added like Space Mountain, Everest, and even the Monorail.

The new 2019 Disney World Merchandise showed up a little bit early this year, and we’re sure more exciting souvenirs and apparel will make their debut soon, so stay tuned!

A Galaxy Far Far Away is Getting Much Much Closer

Last week the D23 Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse event brought us a lot of exciting news! None more so than new details about a “galaxy far far away”, though! Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products, revealed some amazing new details about the upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lands coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

When Discussing all of the exciting news Bob Chapek said, “We are currently in the midst of one of the most extraordinary periods of expansion in our history. We are always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible as we deliver world-class experiences and attractions, new hotels and entertainment, itineraries and destinations for our guests.”

And it does seem that boundaries are being pushed in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. While we knew the land would feature an interactive story that will put guests right in the middle of the action, we learned that this will be, at least partially facilitated by using the optional Play Disney Parks App. Additionally, it was announced that John Williams, the composer of the original movie score as well as all of its sequels and countless other iconic film scores, would compose original music for the land! Guests at the event were treated to an exclusive preview of some of the music.

During the event, Chapek also announced the names of the two new rides that will headline Galaxy’s Edge: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

In Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance you’ll find yourself face to face with Kylo Ren as you join the fight against the First Order.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will make every Star Wars fan dreams come true when it puts you in the pilot’s seat of Han Solo’s legendary spaceship. Here’s a sneak peek at what is sure to become one of Disney Parks most immersive rides to date:

Mickey’s 90th Birthday Around the World

The big day has come and gone. Everyone’s favorite Mouse is 90 and the party was epic! Mickey Mouse was celebrated in Disney Parks everywhere with limited time merchandise and events…and even a surprise or two! ABC’s Good Morning America stunned one lucky fan with a whirlwind weeklong trip to every Disney Park around the world, and each day broadcast the party for viewers at home- showcasing what is new and unique at each location! Every Park had their own unique celebrations for Mickey’s birthday as well!

In Tokyo, celebrations included special merchandise, photo proof and in true Tokyo Disney fashion, out of this world celebrations treats!

Look at the size of that crowd in Hong Kong! Commemorative park tickets and special birthday stickers were offered as well as the “We Love Mickey” projection show which will run until February 2019).

Disney’s newest Park celebrated in a big way! At Shanghai Disneyland, a giant birthday card was featuring birthday wishes from Mickey’s pals. Guests also enjoyed themed food and merchandise offerings as well as the opportunity to sing “Happy Birthday” ending special night time birthday spectacular at Enchanted Storybook Castle.

At Disneyland Paris, guests can already enjoy the new “Mickey and his PhilharMagique Orchestra” show and watch Mickey Mouse play drums in “Mickey’s Christmas Big Band.”

Mickey’s original home naturally went big for the occasion. They kicked off celebration cavalcade for Mickey Mouse featuring some of his special friends and the Disneyland Band, starting at “it’s a small world” and pausing for a special moment at Sleeping Beauty Castle before continuing down Main Street, U.S.A., to Town Square. There were also treats galore and special merchandise to mark the momentous occasion.

Walt Disney World, of course, was in on the action. Multiple shows (including a special birthday dance party), merchandise, and treats came together for a weekend-long celebration.

The fun isn’t over though! Mickey’s birthday party is continuing well into 2019 with “The Worlds Biggest Mouse Party” bringing new events and attractions to celebrate Mickeys milestone birthday at every Park worldwide!

Every resort hotel at Walt Disney World dresses in its holiday best at Christmastime, but there’s something really special about Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

The Polynesian Village Resort features decor that captures the spirit of the South Pacific, and its Christmas decor is in keeping with that theme. Swags of garland with colorful accents adorn doorways, and Christmas trees dotted with tropical ornaments serve as giant centerpieces in common areas.

Christmas decorations at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are abundantly unique. The colors work well with the interior decor of the resort hotel, and the thoughtfully placed decorations merge the spirit of Christmas and the spirit of the islands. It’s a must-see resort during the holidays, even if you aren’t staying at the Polynesian. Don’t miss it!

Disney Skyliner Construction is Progressing Nicely

Disney World fans have been eagerly awaiting the completion of Disney’s new Skyliner gondola transportation system, and we’re happy to report that the new system is coming along very well.

The Skyliner will offer transportation to Guests between Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and upon its completion, Disney’s Riviera Resort.

We learned earlier this month that despite our highest hopes, the gondolas will not be air-conditioned. Instead, as passengers aboard the gondolas, we will be at the mercy of the capsule’s cross ventilation for sufficient airflow. The gondolas will feature reflective windows to lessen the sting of direct sunlight, and for that, we are very thankful indeed!

Recipe – Fezziwig’s Cranberry Christmas Scones

The Muppet Christmas Carol is one of my favorite holiday movies. Since it has the same story, we can throw Disney’s A Christmas Carol in there, too. It makes sense, then, for me to share with you the recipe to make Fezziwig’s Cranberry Christmas Scones. They may have changed it to Fozziwig for the Muppets, but that doesn’t change the story, right? The important part in my book is for the family to be able to enjoy the story, regardless of how it is presented.

Enough talking about movies or we’ll be here all day. Check out the recipe below!

Ingredients:

2 cups of all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. of salt
1 tbsp. grated orange zest, packed
1/2 cup cold butter, cubed in small pieces
1 large egg
1/2 cup of cold heavy cream
1- 1/4 cup fresh cranberries
2 tbsp. of cold heavy cream to brush the tops 2 tbsp. turbinado sugar for sprinkling tops

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400°F.
Stir together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and orange zest.
With an electric mixer, mix the cold butter cubes into the dry ingredients until fine crumbs form. A few larger bits of butter will remain.
Whisk the egg, and add the cream to a small bowl. Whisk together for a minute. Slowly add small amounts to the dry ingredients with the mixer on low until a thick and stiff dough forms. Fold in the fresh cranberries until mixed in.
Flour a work surface and use hands to flatten out the dough until about 1” thick. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out the scones.
Place the scones on a parchment-covered cookie sheet.
Brush the tops with the cream, and sprinkle the desired amount of sugar on top.
Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown and firm to the touch.
Makes about 10 scones.

So Sweet: Hand-Pulled Candy Canes Now On Sale At Disneyland Resort

If you’re a seasonal visitor to Disneyland Resort, you’re probably well aware of the craziness that ensues over candy canes. Sure, candy canes are a normal part of any Christmas themed hot spot, but at Disneyland…people wait for weeks, scrolling through miles of internet boards trying to find release dates for these minty holiday goodies. Visitors even get up extremely early just to wait for eternity in lines for a chance to pick one up! So, what’s the big deal?

Like many things at Disney parks, candy canes seem to taste different! Not only that, they are hand-pulled (traditionally made) and huge. That’s right…we said hand-pulled. In fact, while waiting in line you can watch candy-makers work these candy canes into the final product, which has guests going nuts! Check out the video below for a sneak peek at these talented sugar workers rolling and stretching fresh made candy canes.

So you wanna get your hands on one of these beauties? As we said, be prepared to wait! You’re going to stand in line just to earn your place to stand in another line. No, that wasn’t a joke! There’s a line to get a wristband. After you’ve waited in that line, you get to wait in another line for your candy cane. As Disney does however, the wait isn’t too mundane. Neat photo-opportunities with fun props await those looking to pass a little time while they wait to get their hands on this treat.

Assuming you’re good with standing in line to pick up one of these festive snacks, be prepared to shell out $12.99. Sounds like a lot for a candy cane, but again…this thing is pretty big!

You can pick one of the Christmas beauties up at both The Candy Palace at Disneyland and at Trolley Treats on Buena Vista Street at California Adventure. Each spot will be selling these hand-pulled candy canes on separate dates. They’re on sale now on select dates (noted at the bottom of this article). But if you’re gonna try and get one…be early. They almost sold out today!

Art of Animation Resort Big Blue Pool to Close for Refurbishment

Refurbishments are hitting Disney’s Art of Animation Resort in 2020. Beginning in the Fall of 2020, the beloved Big Blue Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation will be closed undergoing magical enhancements.

Have no fear. During the refurbishment, all of the other resort’s pool and play areas such as Flippin’ Fins Pool, Cozy Cone Pool, and the Schoolyard Sprayground will remain open.

Keep in mind that noise may be heard while the refurbishment is undergoing but you will not hear anything from Guests rooms between dusk at 9:00 am. Check here for additional details and the latest news regarding the refurbishment.
