Walt Disney Studios Surpass $7 Billion in Box Office Sales for 2018

Walt Disney Studios Surpass $7 Billion in Box Office Sales for 2018

Walt Disney Studios Surpass $7 Billion in Box Office Sales for 2018!  It isn’t a surprise at all, but as of December 9th, 2018 Walt Disney Studios surpassed $7 Billion dollars in box office sales worldwide.  This will climb as the year hasn’t even closed out and we still have the opening of Mary Poppins Returns!  Internationally the box office gross through December 9th was around $4 billion making it their 2nd biggest year in the history of Walt Disney Studios.

Marvel Studios hit $2 billion alone with Avengers: Infinity War as the #1 film of the year globally and internationally. It came in second to Black Panther with finished with $1.3 billion worldwide. Incredibles was #3 with $608 million in the US and a total of $1.2 billion globally. This is just the beginning of what is to come. 2019 will for sure be bigger than 2018 with the release of some HUGE new films. There is already talk on Twitter about the forecast.

Other top titles from The Walt Disney Studios’ in 2018 are Ant-Man and The Wasp, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Christopher Robin, as well as the new Walt Disney Animation Studios release Ralph Breaks the Internet, which recently marked its third consecutive week at No. 1 in the US and has earned nearly $260 million globally to date.

Plenty of Sand and Sunshine As Christmas Spirit Lacks in Florida

Plenty of Sand and Sunshine As Christmas Spirit Lacks in Florida

Plenty of Sand and Sunshine As Christmas Spirit Lacks in Florida

Oh, Florida! What are we going to do with you? We’ve got to have a little talk. We aren’t sure why…maybe you’ve gotten ahold of bad eggnog. Maybe there’s a shortage of cookies and milk, or maybe you’re all just on the naughty list. No matter, coming in 48th in Christmas spirit (of all continental states) is unacceptable. We aren’t mad, just disappointed…and a bit perplexed. Maybe the metric is the problem…but something has to change!

According to GetCenturyLink, Florida ranked dead last in Christmas spirit. With only Alaska and Hawaii falling further off the list (we admit Alaska is equally surprising). Still don’t know what we are talking about? Well, GetCenturyLink recently conducted a survey in your area that measured your searches for Christmas movies and music, as well as topics related to Christmas such as gingerbread cookies. And of all continental United States, you came in last place.

Of course, we don’t really blame you. It’s hard to celebrate the holidays when you’re living in the most tropical state that the U.S. has to offer. We get it, but its Christmas! I mean, have you seen Walt Disney World at Christmas? Maybe you should! We can promise that’ll put you in the holiday spirit and hush some of the “Bah humbugs!”

With no snow, warm temperatures throughout the year, and beaches literally everywhere…sure, it’s probably difficult to get into the spirit. We can understand that, but much like a father scolding a son who brought home a bad grade, we expect more out of you!

In all seriousness, the metric utilized probably isn’t a solid measure of your Christmas spirit. How can we really judge that? One thing is absolutely certain, however, if you aren’t feeling it this year…go get a cup of hot chocolate, hang some lights, and turn on a nice Christmas flick. See if that helps! Because as you’re probably well aware, Santa’s sleigh runs on Christmas spirit, and we’re all counting on you to make sure our presents are delivered this year! So, let’s get it together you bunch of Grinches!

New Holiday Walls in Downtown Disney

New Holiday Walls in Downtown Disney

As you walk through Downtown Disney you might notice that new holiday walls have appeared throughout the shopping/dining district for the perfect holiday photo op.  Out the three new walls that have been added, I must say that the Buzz Lightyear and Woody wall is my favorite, it has just the perfect amount of simplicity with holiday festiveness.

If you have enjoyed posing and taking a picture at the share your ears walls that have popped up throughout the resort, then this reindeer wall is for you.  This wall encourages you to pose with Dasher and Dancer, two of Santa’s more famous reindeer, and slip some antlers on for size… complete with Mickey ornaments.

After you have sufficiently hammed it up with the new holiday walls take some time to walk the District and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the holidays.  One thing that Disney does best is details and there are many throughout Downtown Disney, from the festive planters, lights in the tall Ficus trees, giant ornaments, and it wouldn’t be Christmas without the perfect tree.

The Christmas Tree located in Downtown Disney has to be one of my favorites that Disney has put up this season.  I love everything about it from the giant nutcrackers, the presents underneath, and the colorful rainbow ornaments adorning the tree makes it just beautiful.

Review: Chili-Garlic Shrimp Bowl at Satu’li Canteen

Review: Chili-Garlic Shrimp Bowl at Satu'li Canteen

The new Chili-Garlic Shrimp Bowl at Satu’li Canteen is worth the journey to the Valley Mo’ara.  Satu’li Canteen in Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom has recently had some menu changes. Having been a fan of the Canteen since it opened, I was excited to sample one of the new Create-Your-Own Satu’li Bowls.

After checking out the new menu, I decided on Chili-Garlic Shrimp for my protein with red & sweet potato hash and the creamy herb dressing. You may remember that this summer they added the Shrimp & Noodle bowl, and now you can see they have separated it into the Create-Your-Own Satu’li Bowl section.

When I walked up to the counter to pick up my bowl – HOLY COW!  It is true what they say, you eat with your eyes first, and I knew I was going to LOVE it! The Chili-Garlic Shrimp Bowl is fantastic! Juicy shrimp are piled high on a bed of red & sweet potato hash covered in that delectable creamy herb dressing.   I am loving the new menu.   Have you eaten at Satu’li Canteen yet? Post in the comments below. Stay hungry Disney friends!
