Behind the Scenes Look at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

Take a look at this exciting behind-the-scenes update on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Star Wars-themed lands will be coming to Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif., and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Fla., transporting guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.

Inside these authentic lands, guests will be able to step aboard The Millennium Falcon and actually pilot the fastest ship in the galaxy, steering the vessel through space, firing the laser cannons, in complete control of the experience. And with the arrival of the First Order to the planet, guests will find themselves in the middle of a tense battle between stormtroopers and Resistance fighters.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is opening summer 2019 at Disneyland Resort and fall 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort!

Journey to Batuu:

At Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, guests will be transported to the planet of Batuu, a remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge that was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes. Here, guests will find themselves in the middle of the action at two attractions that take detail and immersion to the next level: one that lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

The largest settlement on the planet Batuu, Black Spire Outpost is an infamous stop for traders, adventurers, and smugglers traveling around the Outer Rim and Wild Space. Off the beaten path, this outpost has become a haven for the galaxy’s most colorful — and notorious — characters. Widely known for the petrified remains of its once towering ancient trees, the spires now stand guard across the river valleys and plains and have long captured the imagination of travelers to this planet. To the first settlers, these petrified spires became more than just landmarks; they became the heart of the outpost itself.

Get ready to take control of the fastest ship in the galaxy on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Or join in an epic battle on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the biggest and most immersive Disney Parks attraction ever!

Aulani Has Something for Everyone

Disney Aluani Resort
Disney Aluani Resort

Aulani for the whole family

Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa beckons guests of every age to find the Hawaiian vacation of their dreams. In beautiful and relaxing surroundings infused with the stories and surprises of Hawaii, guests may discover whatever they hope to find on the islands: adventure, romance, tradition and fun.

Overlooking a beautiful beachfront lagoon less than an hour from Waikiki on O’ahu, Aulani was imaginatively designed to embrace time-honored Hawaiian traditions, inviting dreamers from everywhere to savor their time together. From the moment guests arrive at the resort, they are enchanted by the unique surroundings that pay tribute to the authentic arts of Hawai‘i and the melding of earth and architecture in one special place. And with Disney magic sprinkled throughout, guests encounter a vacation paradise uniquely designed for families.

Each day of their stay, Aulani Resort guests customize their experiences – from relaxing on the beach or in the Laniwai Spa, to splashing through the pools and water play areas of the Waikolohe Valley. Guests will also be delighted to find Menehune (the legendary island little people known to accomplish marvelous feats of construction), hidden throughout the resort.

Ohana means family
With that special magic only Disney can provide, Aulani draws families into fun experiences that bring everyone together, from movie nights under the stars to explorations of the Menehune Adventure Trail. Families enjoy lei making, hula dancing and learning a Hawaiian sunset chant, all under the guidance of local artists and guides. At night, the beachside fire pit comes to life as storytellers speak and sing ancient tales of the islands.

The creators of Aulani knew that some guests might want to explore beyond the resort, too. Excursions can be booked to sail aboard catamarans, ride horseback, kayak through protected islets, and more. Most excursions are specially designed for Aulani guests and feature knowledgeable and friendly Adventure Guides.

Hotel rooms and Disney Vacation Club villas have been thoughtfully planned to cater to the needs of a family vacation, with refrigerators, flat panel televisions and wireless internet access. And for those who brought just a bit too much luggage, there’s a hiding place for suitcases under the bed.

For the grown and almost grown
Aulani has many special fun and relaxing activities for adults. Guests can start the day with beachside yoga to rejuvenate the soul, then rent a private poolside cabana offering unique amenities and world-class Disney service. Active adults and teens may prefer Aulani recreation programs, including paddle boarding in the lagoon.

Also enticing is Laniwai, a Disney Spa. For adults, Laniwai is a haven of tranquility in 18,000 square feet of space, with 15 treatment rooms, a fitness center and the 5,000-square-foot outdoor hydrotherapy garden, the only one of its kind on Oah‘u. For teens, there is Painted Sky, the only teen spa in Hawaii where teens can relax and make new friends.

Romantic dinners can be enjoyed away from the little ones in the beachside ‘AMA‘AMA restaurant or the ‘Ōlelo Room lounge. Guests will savor the local flavors with fresh fish and cuisine grown by local farmers. Couples may want to complete their day with a sunset celebration or stroll along the ocean’s edge.

Aunty knows best
Children, known as keiki in Hawai‘i, can leave their elders and their flip-flops at the door as they enter the cozy world of Aunty’s Beach House, a signature Disney kid’s club. Aunty is related by affection and her house generally is considered one of the best and safest hang-out spots. She and Uncle always have a lot of stories to share while guests learn the hula, create Hawaiian arts and crafts, play games with favorite Disney characters and enjoy a laid-back movie afternoon.

Aunty’s Beach House is designed for children ages 3 to 12. Special tween programs also are offered through Aunty’s Beach House.

When the mischievous waters call, kids and adults alike will find themselves drawn to the seven acres of the Waikolohe Valley pools and water features. They won’t be able to resist the lure of the Waikolohe Pool water slides and a float down twisting Waikolohe Stream on an inner tube. The enchanting Menehune Bridge invites children of all ages to search for the mysterious little builders hidden within this delightful structure.
