Disney’s Remake of Lady and The Tramp Casts First Role with Ashley Jensen

Disney’s Lady and The Tramp remake has cast its first role! Ashley Jensen is tapped to voice the role of Scottish Terrier Jackie, originally known as Jock, in the film for Disney’s upcoming streaming service. This supporting character is a loyal friend to Lady.

Jensen’s other credits include an Emmy nomination for her role in BBC-HBO series Extras and regular appearances on ABC’s Ugly Betty. You may have also seen her in the recent Amazon original Catastrophe. When it comes to the big screen her resume includes The Lobster and Hysteria as well as supporting roles in major family movies including Gnomeo & Juliet, The Pirates! Band Of Misfits and Arthur Christmas.

Hopefully, we will have more casting information soon as Disney is in the process of filling lead and supporting roles for the movie, which could potentially go into production later this year.

It was recently announced by Disney that Charlie Bean, director of The Lego Ninjango Movie would be taking the reins of this live-action/CG hybrid update of the animated classic.

The script for the new live-action/CG adaptation was written by Andrew Bujalski and Brigham Taylor is producing.

This film will not have a theatrical release, but rather will be a feature film for the upcoming Disney streaming service set to launch next year.

This is one of my favorite animated Disney films and I really cannot wait to see this new version. And I’m even more excited now that casting information is being announced!

The live-action remakes of animated Disney classics have been hugely successful. It makes sense that Disney will continue to purse live-action versions of their most beloved films. Let’s take a look at upcoming Disney live-action films!

There is also talk of not one, but two, live-action films inspired by the classic, Peter Pan. Tink, which would focus on our favorite Pixie has been in development for a while now. While Elizabeth Banks was once attached to it, now it looks like Reese Witherspoon is set to star. And it looks like David Lowery will be taking the reins and creating a live-action adventure movie of Peter Pan – sounds, well, exciting, right?!

Comcast Hints On Plans for a Third Universal Theme Park in Orlando

In a call about Comcast’s quarter 2 earnings, they discussed possible plans to open another Universal theme park in Orlando. Last month, Universal trademarked the name “Fantastic Worlds” for use in amusement parks.

“In terms of as a new gate in Florida, we are looking at it. We filed, basically, a name registration,” NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke said Thursday morning on a conference call with media analysts and press. “We have a lot of great I.P. We love the theme park business, it’s one of our best, most-consistent businesses, and we think we have a very long runway.”

“Another gate in Florida would have the advantage of turning Florida from a two- or three-day destination to potentially a week-long destination,” he continued. “We think that that would be attractive.”

Will there be an additional theme park added to Universal Studios?

One of the most beloved parades, ‘Paint the Night‘, and the new ‘Pixar Play‘ parade both debuted at Disneyland before the summer kicked off. Originally, they were only supposed to run through September 3rd, 2018 due to Pixar Fest ending on September 4th. But Disney has announced that they will both be extended! With World of Color still undergoing refurbishment, it makes sense they would extend both parades.

Paint the Night and Pixar Play Parades Have Been Extended

‘Paint the Night’ makes its way through Disney California Adventure Park with more than 1 million brilliant lights, high-energy music and cutting-edge special effects featuring many beloved Disney and Pixar pals. As if this wasn’t great enough, this June the parade is becoming even more super, “Paint the Night” adds a new float inspired by Disney∙Pixar’s “The Incredibles” and “Incredibles 2.”

Guests will enjoy nightly performances of “Paint the Night” with Sorcerer Mickey, who uses his vivid imagination to harness the power of Tinker Bell’s pixie dust to “Paint the Night,” bringing to light the beloved characters and friendships from Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.,” “Cars,” “Toy Story,” Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast” and more. Pixar Play Parade

The Pixar Play Parade made its return to the Disneyland Resort on April 13, 2018. This parade brings to life some of our favorite Pixar characters and stories including Up, Inside Out, Toy Story, The Incredibles, A Bug’s Life, Monster’s Inc, and Finding Nemo.

The Pixar Play Parade happens daily and features everyone’s favorite Pixar characters. Joy, Sadness, Mr. Fredrickson and the Incredibles join Toy Story and Monster’s Inc friends in a colorful, fun-filled march through the park.

Satu’li Canteen No Longer Serving Vegetable Curry Pods

The Satu’li Canteen in Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom features tons of guest favorite beef, chicken and fish bowls. All of their menu items come in creative and unique forms. One menu item however, has disappeared from the offerings. Vegetable Curry Pods, also known as Bao Buns, has been removed from the Satu’li Canteen menu. Although the Vegetable Curry Pods are no longer being offered, guests can still find incredible dishes!

You can order the Combination Bowl with Grilled Beef and Chicken. It features slow-roasted sliced grilled beef that’s been marinated in a blend of garlic, herbs, red pepper spice and red wine vinegar. This is paired with wood-grilled chicken thighs that have been marinated in garlic and olive oil. They come topped with crunchy vegetable slaw and Boba balls. You can choose a base and sauce with your combo bowls.

Another favorite is the other style of Bao Buns, Cheeseburger Steamed Pods. These pods are stuffed with ground beef, ketchup, mustard, pickle and cheddar cheese. They are also served with crunchy vegetable slaw but include vegetable chips as well.

#DisneyParksLIVE Will Be Live Streaming Tour de Turtles On July 28

Can’t make it to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort for Tour de Turtles this year? No problem! #DisneyParksLIVE will be streaming all of the action on July 28th, 2018 starting at 7:40 AM EST. The Tour de Turtles event brings together Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment Team with the Sea Turtle Conservancy. During the event, two loggerhead turtles are released back to the ocean and their amazing migration is tracked. Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is an incredibly active sea turtle nesting area in Florida so the Disney team regularly monitors nesting turtles here.

Last week, Disney Parks Blog readers were able to vote on this year’s names for the turtles. This year’s event will be taking on a Toy Story Land theme in celebration of Hollywood Studios’ grand opening of Andy’s Backyard. Female “Toy Story” character names were chosen by the fans and will be revealed during Tour De Turtles.

Disney Expands Environmental Commitment By Getting Rid of Plastic Straws

The Walt Disney Company has always put forth a huge commitment to environmental conservation efforts. It started 60 years ago with Walt himself that said “conservation isn’t just the business of a few people. It’s a matter that concerns all of us.” Disney has taken more steps to continue this effort.

By the middle of 2019, The Walt Disney Company will no longer use plastic straws and plastic stirrers at all Disney owned and operated locations across the globe, amounting to a reduction of more than 175 million straws and 13 million stirrers annually.

In addition, Disney is transitioning to refillable in-room amenities in our hotels and on our cruise ships, reducing plastics in guest rooms by 80 percent over the next few years. Beginning in May 2018 all North American stores will be phases out the use of shopping bags. To kick off the new message of sustainability, Guests will receive a Disney branded reusable shopping bag as a gift with any purchase, while supplies last.

Finally, Disney will complete their work to eliminate polystyrene cups across all global Disney owned and operated businesses.

Disney has just released a new extended sneak peek of their upcoming live-action adventure “Christopher Robin” with new footage from the film starring Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell directed by Marc Forster!

In Disney’s heartwarming live-action adventure, the young boy who shared countless adventures with his stuffed animal friends in the Hundred Acre Wood is now grown up, living in midcentury London and dealing with the stresses of adulthood. Now it is up to his childhood friends to venture into our world and help Christopher Robin rediscover the joys of family life, the value of friendship and to appreciate the simple pleasure in life once again.

“Christopher Robin” is directed by Marc Forster from a screenplay by Alex Ross Perry and Tom McCarthy and Allison Schroeder and a story by Greg Brooker and Mark Steven Johnson based on characters created by A.A.
