Halloween apples can be found all over Disney Springs this time of year. The combinations are endless for this classic treat when you are looking for a snack.

Pumpkins, spider webs, and Jack Skellington are just a few of the characters that are created at Goofy’s Candy Company and Disney’s Candy Cauldron this time of year. Mickey and Minnie apples are year-round favorites.

Starting with classic apples on a stick, they can be prepared with caramel and nuts sprinkled on top, the classic red candy coating or even chocolate with marshmallows.

At Goofy’s Candy Company, you can make your own creation with your favorite choices. Start with the coatings of red candy shells, chocolate or caramel. Top that off with your choice of sprinkles, chocolate chips, M&M’s, marshmallows fudge and colored sugar to name a few options. Fill out the form and then watch the Cast Member create your perfect snack!

Construction Update for Star Wars: Galaxy Edge!

In a galaxy far, far away, it looks like some great progress is being made on Hollywood Studios Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge construction! Just over the wall, you can see the development of the new attractions. Guests will find themselves in the middle of the action between the First Order and the Resistance.

The new land will allow Star Wars characters stories come to life and guests can fully immerse themselves into the story. The two new attractions first take you to pilot the Millennium Falcon, fighting off attackers while completing the critical mission at hand. The second one takes you directly onto a Star Destroyer.

You will be sure to run into some old friends including Chewbacca and BB-8 so be sure to say hello!

Oogie Boogie Cupcake Recipe

” I am the shadow of the moon at night, filling your dreams to the brim with fright!”

There is nothing frightful about these delicious cupcakes. I decided to give this recipe from Disney Family website a try. I had to make a few adjustments. This is a great fun family activity. Perfect to keep little one’s busy and out of mischief.

INGREDIENTS-

Batch of chocolate cupcakes

Plastic decorating bag for piping on the frosting

Black licorice or a chocolate taffy candy flattened out and cut into shapes

Vanilla frosting tinted Oogie Boogie green

Toothpick for pressing candy pieces onto Oogie Boogies face

Marshmallows

Disney Family’s recipe calls for a frosted cupcake topped with a marshmallow.

If you don’t have, or prefer not to use marshmallows with younger ones, you can do what I did and cut into the cupcake at a angle going around in a circle . You should have a cone shaped piece that you can pull out and set aside. It should look like this

I then filled in the hole with icing and flipped the cone piece over on top giving it Oogies distinct shape.

Next comes the icing. Start at the base and wrap your way around to the top allowing for a little extra to create Oogie’s droopy pointed poof at the top of his head.

Now you want to use a butter knife to smooth out the ridges and it helps to dip it in water occasionally.

The Disney Family website says to use licorice for the eyes and mouth but if you are not partial to licorice you can roil out a certain chocolate chewy candy and it works just as well. Gently arrange and press pieces onto Oogie Boogie‘s face using the toothpick.

Here is my final creation. I think this is a fun simple activity that gets everyone together and in the Halloween spirit. Maybe pop Nightmare Before Christmas in after and have a fun family movie night. Remember no cupcakes until after dinner. Well maybe one or two. Oogie would approve of that!

Jodi Benson Surprises Bride and Groom At Wedding Reception — Jodi Benson – the voice of the Ariel

Disney Legend, Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel from The Little Mermaid, surprised a bride and groom at their wedding reception recently in Avalon, New Jersey. The Bride’s father, donning the popular white Mickey hands, introduces Jodi Benson by first asking the bride, Krysten Green, what her favorite Disney movie is. As the bride answers, Jodi Benson gingerly walks into the room and grabs a microphone. You can tell that the bride was totally surprised. Her father obviously kept this an enormous secret. Jodi then begins to serenade the wedding party singing “A Part of Your World” accompanied by musicians at the reception with the bride singing along all the way.

Before she begins to sing, Jodi Benson also tells the New Jersey wedding party that this is the first time she was invited to sing at a wedding that wasn’t part of her family. This bride was sure glad that Jodi Benson agreed to be a part of her world today.

This is not the first time Jodi Benson has been involved in a couple’s future. A few weeks ago at the Fan Expo in Canada, a couple got engaged right in front of Jodi Benson.

Truly Jodi Benson spreads magical memories wherever she goes. This just goes to show you that Disney magic happens everywhere and not just in the park.

Welcome home. As you enter Disneyland Park you are greeted by warm cinnamon colors in hues of burgundy, brown and orange. Festive bunting is strung from the buildings. Familiar characters made out of pumpkins greet you from an arched entrance way overhead.

On Main Street, you are greeting by a giant Mickey pumpkin that glimmers and glows with mischief. Beckoning you with a smile on the way in, and a wink on the way out. Pumpkins peek out at you from curtained windows above and mums line the planters. Windows displays stay in true Main Street fashion but with a fall flair. You will even find a whimsical barber pumpkin who appears to have had a shaving mishap. Carts loaded with gourds, flowers, and fall leaves decorate the street. In the evening the streets are lit with a warm glow from the flickering lanterns adorned with Mickey pumpkin heads. Towers of pumpkins arranged topiary style tower overhead.

Making your way toward Sleeping Beauty Castle you see a ring of pumpkins surrounding the beloved Partners statue of Walt and Mickey. Carved into the pumpkins is the likeness of some favorite Disney characters, each to represent an area of the park.

So much creativity and attention to detail went into bringing the feeling of fall to life at Disneyland Park. I love being in the parks just sitting on a bench on Main Street and just watching as families are first coming in and taking in all the sights. The look of awe and wonder on their face is heartwarming. There truly is no better place to celebrate the magic of the holiday season.

Halloween Finds ‘Happy Hints’ Hidden at the Haunted Mansion

It’s that spooky time of year again, which means it’s also time for the magic that only Halloween at Disney can bring. This year, we get a sneak peek into the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom Park, guided by the best: Walt Disney Imagineers. Every Wednesday through Halloween, they will lead us through some of the amazing details built into the famed attraction and give us fresh insight into their meanings.

In this week’s video, we are lucky enough to have three Imagineers as our tour guides. After all, who better to set the scene than the minds that helped craft it? Steve Vagnini, Stacy Shoff, and Diana Brost will each lead us through the Haunted Mansion’s cemetery queue and show us some of their favorites.

In the opening portion of the attraction, they have cleverly hidden “happy hints” that are easy to find, if you are looking. Some of the finds are clues as to what you might find inside, while others are nods to those who helped put together this fan-favorite attraction, like which actor’s famous bass vocals are featured not only in movies but right here in the cemetery itself, as described by Stacy Shoff, who is a Librarian Imagineer. Diana Brost brings our attention to the details under our feet, nestled in the concrete walkway. Follow the footprints and you’ll find the gate, complete with a doggie door, for the caretaker and his furry companion. Keep your eyes out for more clues to the overall story told by the Haunted Mansion, like the ghostly faces featured on the organ pipes too. Hint: you’ll see them inside somewhere!

DAY 1 – DUBLIN

You begin in Dublin, Ireland where guests will be given a welcome reception while staying at the Westin Dublin. Dinner is provided and as you dine you will be serenaded by a Celtic harpist.

DAY 2 – DUBLIN

Guests will enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading off for a private visit to the Irish Emigration Museum. After the visit guests will be treated to tea and scones from a local bakery. That afternoon guests will receive a private, guided tour of the Guinness Storehouse. Lunch will be provided at a local pub and then guests will be able to explore Dublin on their own.

Day 3 – KILLARNEY

After breakfast, you will be on your way to Cashel with a quick stop to participate in Kilkenny hurling. Now that you’ve burned off your breakfast you will enjoy a quick lunch and journey to Cashel in Tipperary County.

Guests will be able to explore the Rock of Cashel.

Junior Adventurers can search for lucky shamrocks on the sacred grounds where Saint Patrick once stood.

DAY 4 – KILLARNEY

Enjoy an early breakfast to fuel up for the day ahead.

Take a visit to the 15th-century castle at the edge of Killarney’s lower lake for a picturesque photo stop with your family.

Explore the beautiful vistas that surround you as you ride across Lough Leane, or “lake of knowledge”, the largest of the three lakes of Killarney. An experience boatman will guide you as you ride past the monastery on Innisfallen Island or the historic Ross Castle which is located on Ross Island.

Explore the quaint town of Kenmare and enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants or pubs in town.

Savor the rich flavors that are created by the true chocolate artisans at the renowned Lorge Chocolatier. You’ll learn about the history and origins of chocolate before a delightfully decadent chocolate tasting experience, followed by a workshop where Guests will get to make their own chocolate!

Begin your day with a filling breakfast before you head out to County Clare.

Let your imagination take flight on a visit to Foynes Museum, the only aviation museum in Ireland and the only dedicated flying boat museum in the world! Discover a nostalgic era from 1937 to 1945 when Foynes was the center of the aviation world. You’ll also enjoy an Irish Coffee demonstration and tasting where you’ll learn about how this now famous beverage was first created at the Foynes Terminal building.

Following your museum exploration, sit down for a lovely Irish lunch.

Marvel at the rolling green hills of Clare as you travel by motor coach to magnificent Dromoland Castle. Built in the 15th century, this will be your royal home for the next 3 nights. Receive a welcome like no other—truly fit for a king or queen!

Discover the beauty of Burren’s “yellow cliffs” on this tour of the dramatic cave of Aillwee, one of the oldest caves in Ireland. You’ll stroll over bridged chasms, walk alongside a thunderous waterfall and marvel at the unusual formations found in this natural mountainside underworld.

Scarlett Johansson will be making $15 Million for Marvel’s Black Widow

According to The Hollywood Reporter Scarlett Johansson is set to bring in around $15 million dollars for playing Black Widow in her own stand-alone film from Marvel.

She will be making the same as Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans earned for playing Thor and Captain America in the last Avengers: Infinity War movie.

Scarlett Johansson has played Black Widow in six Marvel Films over the years from Iron Man 2 through Captain America and all of the Avengers movies.

Although no details have been released for the upcoming project, I for one am really looking forward to exploring more of her character and hopefully more of her backstory.

The recipient of many prestigious accolades, including multiple James Beard Foundation Nominations, Elliot opened his eponymous restaurant, Graham Elliot, in 2008, which went on to become one of only 15 restaurants in the U.S. to be awarded two Michelin stars. Most recently, Elliot launched his first restaurant project in Asia, Coast at MGM Cotai, in addition to unveiling his new concept, Gideon Sweet, a collaboration with his friend and mentor, Matthias Merges, in Chicago’s West Loop. Elliot extends his relationship with Endemol Shine North America after having participated in 10 seasons of the company’s hit “MasterChef” and “MasterChef Junior” franchise. He is also currently a judge on Bravo’s “Top Chef.”

On “Family Food Fight,” family teams will pull out their best culinary moves in the kitchen, serving up authentic family dishes rich in cultural heritage, taking homestyle cooking to a whole new level. Cora and Elliot, along with host Curry, will lend their expert palates to help determine which family team will walk away with the coveted title of America’s No. 1 Food Family and take home the $100,000 prize. Production is set to begin in Los Angeles later this month. An airdate will be announced at a later date.
