This is an amazing package for Harry Potter lovers. New “Get Your Ears On” Monorail at Disneyland

We have the debut of the newest “Get Your Ears On” monorail wrap at Disneyland Resort. Just in time for the Get Your Ears On – A Minnie & Mickey Celebration, to commemorate 90 years of Disney Magic.

The new design debuted on the Orange Mark VII train, with the big Mouse himself illustrated “through the years” of animation. Can you name all of the classic films?

Guests hoping to take a ride on the new orange line can hop aboard at one of two monorail stops. Skip the main entrance and ride the monorail from the Downtown Disney District Station (valid admission required). This will take you directly into the park, traveling over Fantasyland and Tomorrowland on the way in. On the way back, travel from the Tomorrowland station, above Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, and travel through Disney California Aventure Park and the Grand Californian Hotel before arriving back at Downtown Disney District.

The loop is 2.5 miles long, runs every 10 minutes, and takes approximately 13 minutes to complete. The newest version of monorail trains runs on a 600 volt DC power source with zero emissions.

Walt Disney World Ticket Increase Takes Effective Today

An increase has been made on date based Theme Park Tickets, Multi-day theme park tickets, and Water Park Annual Passes at Walt Disney World.

1 day ticket during a peak period is now $159 specifically for 1-day base theme park tickets between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, one of the busiest weeks of the year.
4 day ticket in the summer will now cost $9 more per day for select periods (for example: a starting date of July 4).
A single day ticket, in the lowest priced date range, remains unchanged at $109.
The water park Annual Pass has increased by $9 from $130 to $139

**Annual Passes for the main parks have not changed pricing.

Standard parking remains unchanged, but preferred parking now has two tiers. In regular season, preferred parking is $45, and peak tier preferred parking is $50 per day. Preferred parking was previously a flat rate of $50.

Disney is also featuring some new special offers and discounts. The 4-Park Magic Tickets gives guests admission for just $95/day in the summer and the Florida Resident Discover Disney Tickets, gives FL residents admission to our theme parks for 3-days for just $59 per day plus tax for a limited time.

PotterHeads, are you ready for this? New details have come in on the newest attraction opening at Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure will open June 13, 2019!

The epic new addition to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – will soar into Universal Orlando Resort and become the most highly themed, immersive coaster experience yet. Today, all-new details have been revealed about the magical new adventure that awaits.

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure will combine a new level of storytelling and innovative coaster technology with rich environments and sets – including an actual forest with more than 1,200 live trees. It will also give guests the unique opportunity to join Hagrid – one of the most beloved characters in the Harry Potter films – on a journey to one of the most mysterious places in the wizarding world – the Forbidden Forest. With Hagrid as their guide, guests will fly deep into the Forbidden Forest and brave the mysteries and thrills beyond the grounds of Hogwart castle on a groundbreaking coaster experience unlike any other.

It all begins when guests (starting at 48” tall) join Hagrid’s Care of Magical Creatures class and board magical motorbikes specially designed to make them feel the freedom of flight. Guests will either ride the motorcycle or board the adjacent sidecar as they embark on a journey that will bring them closer to some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures. But as they make their way through the Forbidden Forest…things don’t go as planned. During the adventure, guests will:

Experience a freewheeling coaster flight where they’ll twist, turn and rush forward – and backward – at speeds up to 50 mph into the dark forest
Encounter some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures, such as a majestic Centaur, a swarm of mischievous Cornish Pixies, Fluffy, the three-headed dog – and even a creature that’s never been seen in the films

Gem Shamrock Doughnut at Voodoo Doughnut

New Purple Cupcake at Kringla Bakeri in Epcot

Disneyland and Walt Disney World are awash in purple these days. With everything from purple snacks, to spirit jerseys, it’s quite clear that purple is the color of the moment at Disney Parks and Resorts. We’ve got a look at another addition to the lilac and lavender lineup with the Purple Cupcake in Epcot.

The aptly named new treat can be found at Kringla Bakeri in Epcot’s World Showcase Germany pavilion. The sweet treat is adorned with purple buttercream and a chocolate bustier that creates a flowing purple and white dress. The cupcake is very similar to the Belle Dress Cupcake that appeared in Epcot late last year, but with a slightly different design and color scheme.

Construction Continues at Ron Jon Surf Shop Coming to Disney Springs

Are you ready to hang loose at Disney Springs? Construction continues at Ron Jon Surf Shop coming to Disney Springs.

The new 10,000 square foot retail store will be in the Town Center district near The Polite Pig. Once it’s open, it will be filled with your fun in the sun necessities, swimwear, footwear, sunglasses, hats and more. Pretty much anything you need to enjoy a day at the beach or pool can be found in the store.

Ron Jon currently has stores in Panama City Beach, Clearwater Beach, Orlando (Florida Mall), and Cocoa Beach. The flagship store, located at Cocoa Beach, is open 24 hours day, 365 days a year. It’s the largest surfing themed store of its kind. Other locations include South Carolina, Alabama, Maryland, and New Jersey.

Ron Jon picked Disney Springs because of its popularity with not only the locals, but tourists as well who don’t have plans to visit the coastlines during their vacation. Millions of visitors visit the Orlando area yearly, making Disney Springs a great location to add another Ron Jon Surf Shop.

The much anticipated new location will be open in late 2019. We will keep you posted with more details once they’ve been released. Up here in MN, there really isn’t a demand for a surf shop, so personally, I think it makes for a great addition in Disney Springs. River Country Is Being Demolished To Make Way For New DVC Property

Demolition has begun on what remains of River Country. Construction crews can now be seen along Bay Lake dismantling what once was the old water park. The area is currently being prepared for the construction of the new Disney Vacation Club resort called Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge.

Back in November at Destination D, Disney announced that Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge would be a nature-inspired deluxe resort. It will be located along the tranquil shoreline of Bay Lake, between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

Terri Schultz, senior vice president, and general manager of Disney Vacation Club said in a statement,

“This resort experience will be a celebration of Walt Disney’s lifelong love and respect for nature, with some fun and even surprising accommodation types that families will find irresistible.”

The resort is expected to offer a mix of over 900 rooms, comprised of standard hotel rooms and Disney Vacation Club villas. Reflections will be the 16th Disney Vacation Club property at Walt Disney World and is expected to open to the public in 2022.

Amazon In Talks to Purchase the YES Network from Disney.

The Walt Disney Company is the current owner of most of 21^st Century Fox assets and is currently managing the current deal as part of the its plan to sell the YES Network along with 21 other regional sports networks. The selling of these networks was a condition of the Justice Department’s approval of Disney’s $71.3 billion acquisition of the 21^st Century Fox assets last summer.

The YES network was born out of a partnership struck in 1999 between the Yankees and the Nets basketball Franchise. Led by President Randy L. Levine since 2000 and formally took over the project in 2004 and has sold 49 percent stake to Rupert Murdoch’s 21^st Century Fox in 2012. A second deal in 2014 gave the Murdoch company control and left the Yankees with a 20 percent stake.

Media rights to sports franchises has declined from traditional cable systems as fewer people are willing to pay for traditional TV. Currently this is a large upside in sports from streaming. Amazon owning a piece of the YES Network could be a good addition to its Prime Program, which could add more revenue.

Amazon currently streams “Thursday Night Football” on Prime, paying the NFL $50 million for one season. The company renewed that agreement in April for two more years in a deal worth $130 million. Currently, The YES Network along with other sports networks have the rights to show games online through the 2019 season but is unclear how the rights will be controlled moving forward.

Disney’s acquisition has not formally closed yet. Once closed, the company has 90 days after the merger to sell the sports channels, which includes the YES network.
