Varsity Spirit Spectacular is Returning to Walt Disney World

Varsity Spirit Spectacular is returning to Walt Disney World! From November 29th through December 2nd, 800 high school cheerleaders and dancers from across the country will represent the camp brands of Varsity Spirit in the fourth annual Varsity Spirit Spectacular at the Walt Disney World Resort. Cheerful teens nationwide will come to Magic Kingdom and perform in fantastic holiday colored uniforms, bows, and poms. These peppy teens will bring cheer and dance to the park in a fun and exciting performance.

Varsity Spirit Spectacular is Returning to Walt Disney World

During their time in Walt Disney World they will be visiting the parks as well during downtime. Be ready for lots of cheerleader selfies and poses around the famous “walls” of Disney. This cheerleading event will be a little less hectic than others at Disney, as each cheerleader is brought by their family and not as an entire squad. This should make the resorts less chaotic than when the All-Star cheer squads come to town.

If you are visiting the parks during this time keep an eye out for the performance times and schedule to get a little extra magic during your stay!

Fantastic Food & Wine Classic Photo Tour Review

The Fantastic Food & Wine Classic, at Disney’s Swan & Dolphin, culminated with an evening of fun for everyone who attended. In its ninth year, this popular event mixes food and wine seminars, beer, wine, small-plated foods, event merchandise and live entertainment that draws guests by the masses. Journey with us through this photo tour review of all the incredible offerings.

To begin our evening, we attended a Wine Blending Class. This informative experience taught us how to pair cheese with wine. We also learned how to blend wine to our specific taste preferences.

Next, we toured the Beer Garden. We sampled a variety of beers and some interesting foods in this circular garden space.

Next up, we sampled wines from around the world. With more than 60 wineries participating, and 11 wine regions represented, there was plenty to choose from.

Next, we moved on to the food offerings. We started with the Beer Garden options and moved onto Phins Chicken Wings. One of our best bites was definitely the Wings from Phins.

Next,

we explored the main Causeway. Food offerings from the Swan & Dolphin restaurants had incredible representation. We were particularly fond of the Bluezoo Striped Bass and the Garden Grove Sea Scallops.

Additionally, we decided to have a bit of fun in the Carnival Corner. We sampled some of the offerings and might have had at least 2 Funfetti Fried Oreos. Trying our luck at the Shooting Gallery, the Bucket Toss and the Wine Bottle Ring Toss carnival games caused us to realize we need more practice with the mastery of these games!

After failing miserably at Wine Bottle Ring Toss, we meandered over to Chinatown. We loved both the Crispy Duck and the Dumplings on offer here.

Next up, we explored The Pig and the Poke.

Hence, Dessert!

Furthermore, the merchandise tent had many event-specific items to choose from.

Consequently, we concluded our evening with live music and dancing.

The Fantastic Food & Wine Classic makes for a wonderful weekend with family and friends. Whether you are celebrating a milestone, or are just looking for a fun evening out, this event is one that we highly recommend. The Swan & Dolphin Resort sponsors this event the last weekend in October. You can choose one evening, or two. The event concludes on Sunday with The Bubbles Brunch. LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars Debuts This Week

The new animated series, LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars premieres this week on Disney XD YouTube and Disney NOW.

The adventure series, which covers all the Star Wars eras, will start with 5 shorts coming out daily from October 29 through November 2, with a compilation plus three addition shorts on November 10 at 11 am on Disney XD and Disney NOW. Following the debut of the shorts, four half-hour episodes will premiere Saturdays beginning November 17 at 11:00 a.m.

The series features LEGO versions of the fresh faces of the Star Wars galaxy alongside iconic heroes including Kylo Ren, R2-D2, Young Han, Chewie, Young Lando, BB-8 and General Leia.

LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars is a production of Wil Film, the LEGO Group, and Lucasfilm. Developed for television by Bill Motz and Bob Roth (“LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures,” “Penguins of Madagascar”), they join Jill Wilfert and Erik Wilstrup as executive producers (“LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures“).

Whether at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, or Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, World of Disney is the ultimate shopping destination for all things Disney. Now, these two dynamic retail experiences are unveiling complete transformations that make shopping easier and more fun – with a dash of pixie dust on top.

More than a year in design and development, World of Disney at the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort and at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World is now open.

This grand World of Disney makeover touched every feature and function in the store as if the Fairy Godmother outfitted the store herself. From displays to signage to lighting and much, much more, the new World of Disney creates an exciting, dynamic shopping experience where the products are the stars and guests discover magical Disney storytelling wherever they look.

The transformation begins with the store’s exterior, which features new marquees and magical window displays. When guests step inside, they discover an open, loft-style atmosphere with such great visibility they may even fall in love with an item from across the room.

The merchandise also serves as décor in the new World of Disney. In one area, a giant Mickey Mouse Club ear hat beckons guests to the new Mickey Mouse Club Collection. Several spaces throughout the store will change regularly, showcasing the newest and hottest Disney offerings of the season. When new displays debut, their stunning impact will leave guests feeling as if an entire section of the store was reimagined all over again.

Complementing these displays are enchanted flourishes inspired by the history of the Walt Disney Animation Studios and the “Nine Old Men,” the legendary animators who created classic films such as “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Peter Pan” and “Fantasia.” For instance, ink jars suddenly swirl with color and animate artwork on the walls.

Out of nowhere, blank pages filled with pencil sketches as if drawn by an invisible hand. Magical movie posters twinkle with pixie dust before coming to life. When making purchases, eagle-eyed guests may notice the store’s sales counters are inspired by the desks and furniture used by animators of generations past. This commitment to placemaking makes the new World of Disney more than a retail experience – it’s truly a Disney experience.

World of Disney will regularly roll out exclusive Disney Parks merchandise, reinforcing its reputation as a must-visit shopping destination for devoted Disney fans. Unveiled earlier in October was a new Mickey Mouse Club Collection with apparel and accessories featuring a vintage Mickey Mouse from the original television show. Also revealed with the store’s grand reopening is the Nordic-inspired Disney Parks Holiday Collection 2018, complete with Disney-themed holiday décor, ornaments, apparel and more.

World of Disney stores at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World now offer guests the option to purchase new reusable bags, rather than use plastic bags. This program is part of The Walt Disney Company’s global commitment toward significant single-use plastic reduction by mid-2019. Featuring artwork of beloved Disney characters, these reusable bags are offered in three sizes for a nominal fee. Traditional plastic bags are still available upon request at no charge.

The Mickey Mouseketeer cupcake is delightful at the Centertown Market. “Who’s the leader of the club that’s made for you and me?” Well, it is Mickey Mouse of course! In Disney World’s newly reimagined Caribbean Beach Resort, the Centertown Market Grab and Go has added a new adorable cupcake just in time for Mickey’s 90th birthday.

The iconic Mickey colors of black, red and yellow are on display in this delectable dessert. A classic chocolate cake is filled with chocolate mousse. A swirl of vanilla buttercream is decorated with bright red sprinkles, and then it is topped with chocolate Mouseketeer ears. Even the cupcake wrapper was designed for Mickey! For only $5.99 or one snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan, this is a great way to kick off Mickey’s 90th birthday.

Dapper Day Returns to Disneyland November 4th

Step out in style at the Disneyland Resort on Sunday, November 4th for Dapper Day. Twice a year approximately 20,000 guests will arrive at the Disneyland Resort dressed in their Sunday’s Best. Although it’s an “unofficial” Disney fashion event, guests still honor it by embracing and wearing vintage couture. What do you wear?

Guests will be seen wearing bright colored waistcoats for the gentlemen and floral dresses for the ladies. There will also be plenty of tulles, chiffon, coiffed and bouffant hairstyles. Whether you prefer the 1920’s or 1970s’s it does not matter. Just make sure you understand that costumes, face paint or revealing clothing are not allowed at the park. If you have any questions about the dress code please visit Disneyland’s website here.

You may even want to pick up a Disney dress for the occasion.

The Dapper Day at the Disneyland Resort has been so popular that guests in Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland Paris have caught the fever. Mickey Mouse has even been seen on Dapper Days wearing a Dapper Dan ensemble.

Wine & Dine Half Marathon Road Closures

The Wine & Dine Half Marathon is coming up at Walt Disney World Resort and that means road closures. The good thing is that most of these road closures usually take place early in the morning. The bad news is that if you are planning to get to Animal Kingdom for rope drop, you might have some trouble. There will be more than 45,000 runners out on the road the mornings of November 2-4. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is going to take the brunt of the road closures, and here is what you need to know.

First up is the 10k on Saturday, November 3. World Drive is going to have closures in both directions from 3 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. The Magic Kingdom Auto Plaza will be closed from 1 a.m. until 7 a.m. Floridian Way at Seven Seas Drive will be closed from 3 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. Bear Island Road from Floridian Way to Western Way will be closed from 3:15 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. Seven Seas Drive from World Drive to Floridian Way will have a modified traffic pattern from 3:00 a.m. until 5:30 a.m.

Next up is the Half Marathon on Sunday, November 4. World Drive will have closures in both directions from 4:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. There will be a modified traffic pattern between Buena Vista Drive and Osceola Parkway from 4:45 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Western Way will be closed from 5:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. Osceola Parkway will have closures from 4:00 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. There will be a modified traffic pattern on Osceola Parkway from Sherbeth Road to Buena Vista Drive from 4:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. For the second day in a row, the Magic Kingdom Auto Plaza will be closed from 1:00 a.m. until 7:0 a.m. Bear Island Road will be closed from 3:5 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. Buena Vista Drive will be closed from 3:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. There will be a modified traffic pattern between World Drive and the Studio 1 Entrance from 5:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Floridian Way will be closed at Seven Seas Drive from 2:30 a.m. until 7:00 am.

If you are planning to drive anywhere around the resort during these times, it is best to try to avoid the areas where the roads are closed. Aim for the modified traffic patterns because there will be local police and Cast Members around to help keep traffic flowing. Definitely try to get to Osceola Parkway, while avoiding Buena Vista Drive, if you are planning to get to Animal Kingdom early. Please also note there will be runners in Disney’s Animal Kingdom from 5:45 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. and there will be a special crosswalk added to help guests get from the parking lot to the park entrance.

Tortilla Jo’s invites guests of all ages to come take part in their annual Dias De Los Muertos celebration. This wonderful restaurant is located in the heart of Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort.

The grand reveal at the World of Disney is a true sight to see. It is the world’s largest Disney store, and there is something for everyone. The World of Disney at Disney Springs has been reimagined to bring the magic into your shopping experience.

Mickey Mouse Club

Who’s the leader of the club?! Mickey Mouse of course! The new Mickey Mouse Club merchandise line at the World of Disney is incredible. Laura Caszatt is the manager of Merchandise Strategy & Product Development and has worked with her team to bring the story of everyone’s favorite apparel to life. This line has a special place in my heart because I have my mother’s original Mouseketeer ears from 1960.

Disney Kids

Welcome to the world of wonder for children with toys, plush and apparel as far as the eye can see. Darcy Clark and her team with marketing and strategy have helped created a wonderland for kids inside of the World of Disney. When you walk into this section, you can not help but smile. This is a great area to start this year’s holiday shopping with all the new toys from Princess to Pixar.

Dream Big Princess

The Dream Big Princess section of the World of Disney is literally what dreams are made of. Alysia Kelly the Vice President of Visual Merchandising and her team have brought the magic to life. The projections are an incredible touch showing scenes from classic films and fireworks at Cinderella’s castle. From chandeliers made from princess crowns to larger than life Princess illustrations, you feel like you have been brought into your favorite Disney princess film while you are shopping.

Star Wars

This is the merchandise you have been looking for. Whether you are fighting for the rebellion or teaming up with the Dark Side, you will be able to find your favorite Star Wars gear here. This is the perfect spot to stock up before Star Wars: Galaxy Edge opens next year!

Magic Behind the Registers

Stephanie Colvin and the Walt Disney Imagineering team have added extra special touches to make the World of Disney come to life. Watch the magic paint jars spread pixie dust from animators from years gone by as you are waiting in line to pay. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for magical posters and artist sketches. They have sprinkled pixie dust everywhere.

Men’s and Women’s

In the center of the store, the men’s and women’s apparel section welcomes you. With an open sight line, they easily flow together. Make sure to check out all the new gear from shirts, dresses, jackets and everything in between. No other Disney store has a larger collection.

After months of refurbishment, the World of Disney at Disney Springs is officially open. Mickey Mouse and the gang welcomed everyone into the brand new World of Disney with an incredible ribbon cutting. The newly reimagined store brings the magic of Disney to you as you shop for your favorite Disney gear in the world’s largest Disney Store. With a new open concept and flow, you can now easily maneuver your strollers, wheelchairs, and ECVs around the store. I know pushing my stroller in the old store, was such a hassle trying to squeeze between aisles. This new design allows guests to move freely with ample room. I love it!
