Lime Garage at Disney Springs Gets Updated Technology

Big changes coming to Disney Springs Lime Parking garage. Disney is currently in the process of updating the parking sensor technology. They are removing the TCS Q-Free Parking Guidance System that has been being used since Lime’s opening. The current system is being changed out for one from INDECT.

The system up until now has used sensors to detect available parking spaces. Guests entering could simply look up at the light hanging overhead each parking spot and know where to head for an available spot, red indicated occupied, and green indicating an availability. The new INDECT system will be able to detect available spaces as well as track vehicles and recognize license plates. The cost of installing this new technology is estimated around about $2.37 million.

What does this mean for guests? I think this will create a safer environment and add an extra sense of security for visitors. It is also purported to be used to help guests locate their vehicles. Who hasn’t forgotten where they parked after a long day at Disney? Security is one of the things that Disney takes very seriously. I applaud these new changes.

Most sections of the park are completely decorated for the most wonderful time of the year by the first week of November. The park is transformed into a winter wonderland until January, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy everyone’s favorite holiday!

Construction Update- Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Taking Shape

“A galaxy far far away” is getting much much closer as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge begins to take shape at Disneyland! As the summer 2019 opening for the much anticipated new land draws closer, we are getting excited! We recently went and checked out the progress on the land and we pleasantly surprised with the progress.

Galaxy's Edge A show building and the scenery (possibly mountains?) that conceal it are depicted here and we can’t help but wonder what incredible adventure will await us inside once complete!

Star wars land A closer look shows us just how incredibly immersive this highly anticipated land will be. We are already imagining walking amongst those land masses and feeling completely immersed in Planet Battu.

Galaxy's edge From this vantage point, we really start to grasp the scope of just how large this $1 billion dollar expansion will be.

When completed guests to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will find themselves on Planet Battu- a once thriving trading hub now home to rouges and those who prefer to be a bit more “off the grid”. Disney has promised an experience like no other, with a complete story unfolding start to finish for guests as they travel through the land. Based on information previously relayed by Disney, how well a guest performs on a ride, for example, could affect the way others interact with them in other parts of the area! We absolutely can not wait to experience this first hand when it opens, and we’ll be sure to bring you all the details, as well as more construction updates as Star Wars: Galaxies Edge progresses!

Stephen King Brings “Joyland” to Freeform

Halloween is the season for haunting tales. This goes hand in hand with the works of Author, Stephen King. So it is highly appropriate that on Halloween, Freeform announced that it has put into development “Joyland,” a series based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. “Joyland” tells the story of Devin, a college student who takes a summer job at an amusement park in a North Carolina tourist town, confronts the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child and the way both will change his life forever.

“We are honored to be working with Stephen King – a master storyteller who understands the importance of culturally embedded tales that resonate with audiences on a deeply personal level,” said Karey Burke, executive vice president, Programming and Development, Freeform. “We can’t wait for ‘Joyland’ to become part of Freeform’s offerings and haunt our viewers as only Stephen can.”

Bill Haber’s Ostar Productions (“Valor”) will serve as executive producer on “Joyland.” Chris Peña (“Jane the Virgin”) and Cyrus Nowrasteh (“The Stoning of Soraya M.”) are set to write the pilot script and attached to produce.

Freeform is a part of Part of Disney|ABC Television. Freeform connects to audiences and goes beyond entertainment with bold, original programming and immersive social engagement. As Disney’s young adult television and streaming network, it delivers a unique mix of quality original and acquired series, plus fan-favorite movies and the holiday events “31 Nights of Halloween,” “Kickoff to Christmas” and “25 Days of Christmas.” The Freeform app is a service that allows viewers with participating TV subscription services access to 24/7 live viewing of the network, as well as continued on-demand access via a wide array of devices.

Disney Animals Celebrate Halloween

If you love animals, you definitely need to check out this annual tradition at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! The Walt Disney World Resort always brings that extra touch of magic to their guests. But did you know that they also bring this magic to their resident animals? This unique and adorable tradition we are talking about today definitely packs some pixie dust.

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday and I love animals! The Disney World Resort has been able to combine some of my favorites things for the special enrichment they give to their animals at this time of year. We come to Disney’s Animal Kingdom annually for this wonderful sight that occurs in the days leading up to Halloween! We refer to it as the Pumpkin Palooza!

The sight of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes and beautifully carved jack’o’lanterns definitely celebrates the Autumnal Season. However, these are not seasonal decorations. They serve a vital function in the care of these beautiful beings.

Animals that reside in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge are taken care of around the clock by the most amazing care team. One of their tasks is to provide the animals with stimulation and fun. This is what is referred to as “enrichment”. This enrichment plays an important part in the animal’s day-to-day routine. It also provides them with both mental and physical activities that appeal to the animals’ natural behaviors.

Disney Animals Celebrate Halloween

The outstanding Animal Care Team decorates pumpkins each year for their animals. They also come up with new and unique ways to encourage play and natural foraging behaviors among the animals. Sometimes the keepers even add bugs, worms and other treats inside the pumpkins. This is to entice the animals to do a little exploring with the new offerings.

The animal’s reactions vary when they discover the pumpkins in their habitats, but they are all fun to watch! Some will start to paw and pounce, others dig right into the treats, and others shred and smash their newfound goodies within minutes.

Bucky and Falcon Together in a Series? Yes, Please

It’s the stuff nerdy dreams are made of. Are Marvel’s Falcon and Winter Soldier heading to a series together? If the entire internet is to be believed, the answer is yes.

While neither Disney nor Marvel have said a word, Variety is exclusively reporting that a writer has been hired to write the limited series for the new Disney streaming service. Malcolm Spellman (Empire) is now the first scribe chosen to write the various Marvel limited series.

We have seen Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky, the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) in a number of movies together, but we haven’t seen them interact as much as a potential series would allow. No word on where the story will take us.

No exact date has been given for the launch of the streaming service, but it looks like it will be late next year.

Kingdom Hearts – The Story So Far Now Available

The Luxo Lamp Has Appeared at Pixar Pier

Luxo Jr. has arrived at Pixar Pier! Earlier this year Pixar Pier opened to the public, but Luxo wasn’t quite ready for his big debut. The audio-animatronic performs as guests walk onto the pier. Check out the video we have of Luxo Jr greeting guests.

A new sticker design and new light are a great distraction for the happenings behind the construction of the future Jesse’s Critter Carousel. The ride is scheduled to open in 2019 although we aren’t sure just when yet. The ride, formerly known as King Tritons Carousel is undergoing a transformation from undersea creatures to wilderness friends.

The sticker decorations that adorn the construction wall may give us a peek into what amusing critters are to come. Make your plans now to be at the park when Pixar Pier opens with its fresh new look. We will continue to provide updates to the progress on the project! While we wait for the reveal, this lively sticker wall is a perfect meet-up spot and fun backdrop for photos.

Christmas Goodies are coming to Tokyo Disney, as October and Halloween draw to a close. Tokyo Disney is celebrating Christmas with extra magic this year as they are also celebrating their 35th anniversary! Disney are set to release special merchandise called “Disney Christmas”.

Lots of colourful gifts appear in the new range alongside many stationery items, featuring Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Max Goof, Daisy, Donald and Pluto!

Illuminations lights can be found in both Tokyo Disney and Tokyo Sea, alongside the cute stuffed toy bands with little Christmas bells for extra festivity to jingle alongside the parade!

Look out for the new 2018 Christmas Snowmen featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse alongside this absolutely adorable Pluto, who even has socks for ears! According to the Tokyo Disney website, the snowmen costumes are designed specifically for the 35th Anniversary!

In Tokyo DisneySea merchandise, Mickey appears to be wearing a new costume from his new Habour show, “It’s Christmas Time”. The background features Daisy and Donald in front of the 35th Anniversary Christmas tree.

New Disneyland Parking Structure – Construction Update

New Disneyland Parking Structure – Construction Update – The 6,500-space parking complex project, announced last year is well underway. We are watching the progress and welcome the addition of more parking for the Happiest Place on Earth. The structure is to include a pedestrian bridge over Magic Way! The construction of additional parking is just part of an expansion project that will bring a new hotel and the much-anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy Edge.

The building is taking shape. It is scheduled to open next year, along with the Star Wars themed land. The multi-story deck is located next to the Mickey & Friends. It replaces the Pinnoccio flat parking lot. A number of changes are in process for this project – Downtown Disney, is undergoing some of its own alterations. New shops and the relocation of the AMC Theater complex. The theater is moving to Garden Walk on Disneyland Drive.

The addition of a pedestrian bridge, to connect the new parking complex with Downtown Disney is sure to be popular. The walkway will provide safe passage over Disney Way, eliminating crossing a busy thoroughfare. Park visitors using the new bridge traverse through Downtown Disney District as they make their way to the parks main entrance.

The Project, expected to enhance guests experience, by providing additional access lanes and much-needed parking space. The tram boarding area, slated for reconfiguration is to ease transportation woes for visitors as well. We look forward to completion sometime in 2019.
