Storybook Circus Area Of Magic Kingdom Closing Early Select Nights in March

Home to Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Barnstormer Starring the Great Goofini, Big Top Treats, and more; Storybook Circus is a festive and whimsical area of the Magic Kingdom. However, Dumbo will be landing early on select nights in March.

This area will be closing earlier than the rest of the Magic Kingdom on the following nights:

–March 24th: Storybook Circus closes at 9:30 PM (the rest of Magic Kingdom closes at 10:00 PM)

–March 28th: Storybook Circus closes at 6:00 PM (the rest of Magic Kingdom closes at 10:00 PM)

Boyfriend Lost at Disney, Send Help

A funny story has taken over a Facebook Annual Passholder group about a woman losing her boyfriend at Epcot and looking for help locating him. Brittany Blake and her boyfriend were spending the day at Epcot and were separated in the massive Spring Break crowds in the park. His phone died and she wasn’t able to make contact with him. Blake made a hilarious call out to Facebook land to help find him.

“Weird post but lost my boyfriend in Epcot today and haven’t been able to find him for hours because his phone is dead. If anyone sees him can they tell him to meet us at the Mexican pavilion? PS- I’m the one who’s nervous here because I hate being alone lmao. He’s prob off drinking ??” -Blake posted in the group.

In a matter of minutes, the post took off with hundreds of people chiming in to help Blake find her man. Not only were they looking for him, they also were giving her some pretty funny dating advice too! In two hours there were over 700 comments and hashtags created by members poking fun at the couple #FINDREGORY #FINDBRITTANYBF

With 15 minutes left before park close, the search ended. Britanny went to post that she found her boyfriend on the Frozen ride. He had been drinking all day and looking for her in the park. At least this story had a happy ending!

Park Hours Extended at Animal Kingdom this Spring

Great news for guests visiting Walt Disney World, but more importantly, Animal Kingdom this spring. Park hours have been extended in April and May, allowing for more time for the rides and shows.

Here are the updated park hours:

April 7th-28th: 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.

April 27^th: 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 – p.m. (EMH 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.)

April 29^th – 30^th: 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

May 1^st – 2^nd: 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

May 3^rd – 4^th: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

If you’ve never been to Animal Kingdom at night, it’s a completely different park than during the day. Head over to Pandora to see it glowing with Bioluminescence. The transformation is beautiful. While you’re in Pandora, hop on a banshee and take it for a spin on Flight of Passage.

What else can you do with the park hours extended at Animal Kingdom? My other favorite night time activity, once it’s dark, is Kilimanjaro Safari. The experience itself in fun and seems extra bumpy when you can’t see the road in front of you. Different animals are awake and active at night, keeping the journey a mystery around every turn. Don’t forget to look for the newest baby giraffe too. Lastly, save time for the nighttime show, Rivers of Light, shown most nights at 8:30 p.m. Check your My Disney Experience App or your daily park guide for up to date show times.

Marvel’s Shang-Chi Movie Explained

Another Marvel character is joining the “crew” after Avengers: Endgame, thanks to the news reported that Marvel is developing a Shang-Chi movie. Marvel has hired Destin Daniel Cretton for the project. Watch out Iron Fist and Collen Wing! Your competition is heating up in the martial artist superhero department!

But who in the world is Shang-Chi, and why is he considered onew of the greatest warriors in the Marvel Universe? Let’s take a look to find out why they call him the Master of Kung Fu!

The Basics of Shang-Chi:

While Shang-Chi is actually the son of one of the worst villains in the Marvel Universe, he himself is among Marvel’s greatest heroes. He has devoted his life to perfecting his martial arts. He decided to use his abilities to right wrongs instead of for fame and fortune. Shang-Chi is known to work alone, but other times he fights right beside heroes like Spider Man, Daredevil, or the Avengers! Shang-Chi inspires hope in the innocent and dread in anyone foolish enough to challenge him in a battle.

What are Shang-Chi’s Powers and Abilities?

He is traditionally seen as an ordinary fighter with no true superhuman abilities. However, he has developed a reputation of having possibly the best hand-to-hand fighting skills in the Marvel Universe. He’s skilled with a number of different forms in armed and unarmed combat. His “hidden gem” strength is his body’s chi. He’s mastered it allowing him to be strong enough to shatter metal and quick enough to dodge and deflect bullets. Recently Marvel did an overhaul and gave Shang-Chi a new ability–the power to create multiple copies of himself–all just as skilled in martial arts as the original.

Shang-Chi’s Origin and Background

Shang-Chi debuted in 1973’s Special Marvel Edition #15. Because of the popularity of marital arts during this time, Marvel wanted to tap into this by creating Shang-Chi.

Marvel attempted to license the rights to the TV series Kung Fu, but when that failed, they acquired the rights to the work of Sax Rohmer–pulp novelist–including infamous Chinese villain Dr. Fu Manchu and his “Sherlock Holmes-like nemesis,” Sir Denis Nayland Smith. Shang-Chi was initially introduced as Dr. Fu Manchu’s son.

After two issues of his debut, Special Marvel Edition was renamed “The Hands of Shang-Chi: Master of Kung Fu” and because the fighter’s permanent home. He also began appearing in other Marvel titles and teaming up with everyone from Spider-Man to the Thing.

Unfortunately, he didn’t stay popular through the 80’s and the Master of Kung Fu ended with issue #125 in 1983. After that, Shang-Chi only appeared sporadically and Marvel eventually lost the rights to Fu Manchu, making it incredibly difficult to continue the story of Shang-Chi’s family history or even reprint the older Master of Kung Fu stories.

Fortunately, Shang-Chi has reemerged in recent years. He helped Spider-Man develop a new form of spider-themed martial arts, as Spider-Man’s martial arts mentor, after Peter temporarily loses his Spider-Sense use. Shang-Chi has also served multiple incarnations of the Avengers. The Secret Avengers series of 2010 also connected him to Fu Manchu by revealing that Fu Manchu was just a cover identity for Zheng Zu, an immortal sorcerer.

Beyond the Comics of Shang-Chi:

It’s true, Shang-Chi has been seen very little outside of Marvel comics, but that’s not for lack of trying. To date, his only non-comic book appearance has been a playable character in the free-to-play mobile game Marvel Future Fight. A Shang-Chi movie was planned alongside movies for Captain America, Hawkeye, Doctor Strange, Nick Fury, Black Panther, and others. Clearly, plans changed a bit.

In December 2018, word leaked that Marvel has hired Wonder Woman 1984 writer Dave Callaham to do the screenplay for the Shang-Chi movie, with the intent of hiring a director of Asian descent, and crafting a film with a cultural impact similar to that of Black Panther.

In March 2019, Destin Daniel Cretton was in fact hired to direct the film, but no rumors of the cast have surfaced yet!

Captain Marvel Nets $69 Million in Second Weekend

Higher, further, faster is the motto for Captain Marvel and she absolutely produced with netting $69 million in sales for its second box office weekend. The first weekend opening featuring Brie Larson, Marvel’s first comic-book tentpole to spotlight a female superhero has now surpassed $265 million in ticket sales domestically.

The 2nd weekend decline of 55% is comparable to “Avengers: Infinity War.” At this pace, “Captain Marvel” should easily join the $1 billion club. Overseas, “Captain Marvel” crossed $494 million for a massive global haul of $760 million. In less than two weeks, “Captain Marvel” has eclipsed the lifetime sums of numerous superhero adventures, including “Ant-Man and the Wasp” ($623 million), “Iron Man 2” ($624 million), “Thor: Dark World ($645 million), and “Captain America: Winter Soldier” ($714 million). It’s already the 22nd-biggest comic-book release ever.

Registration for Disney’s 10th Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend

Registration opens tomorrow, March 19th, for the 10th Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend!

The Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend will return for its 10th year to the Walt Disney World Resort. The delectable event is celebrating a decade of fun this year from October 31st to November 3rd.

Registration opens at 10am ET so set your alarms to get a taste of some new enhancements coming to this celebratory event!

As part of the 10 year celebration, Disney has announced that all 5K participants will receive a tech shirt, just like the 10K, Half Marathon, and Challenge runners.

Also new this year is the Disney Fall Feast 5K. Disney lovers will have the chance to make their way around the World Showcase in Epcot for the first time. Stay tuned for a look at the themes and medals for this race!

Disney will also be hosting the Post-Race Party with an earlier entry time this year! Participants can experience the cult-favorite International Food & Wine Festival starting at 5pm. The after-hours fun starts at 10pm with special entertainment and rare characters. Participants in the Wine & Dine Half Marathon and the Disney Two Course Challenge will automatically receive entry to the Post-Race Party with their registration. Tickets for friends and family can be purchased starting March 19th.

Speaking of friends and family, spectators can now join the ChEAR Squad for both the 10K and Half Marathon races for the 2019 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend. Disney Channel Fan Fest Returns to Disneyland This Year

Disney Channel’s Fan Fest is back for another awesome year at Disneyland Resort. Disney Channel Fan Fest is a day where kids and families can come see and meet their favorite Disney Channel stars.

This year, the event takes place on Saturday, April 27th at Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California. It includes live, interactive sessions, Q&A’s, and presentations by Disney Channel stars and creators of some of your favorite animated shows.

Actors from Descendants 3, Zombies, Kim Possible, Andi Mack, Raven’s Home, Sydney to the Max, Coop & Cami Ask the World, BUNK’D, Bizaardvark and the upcoming Just Roll With It. Guests will even get a sneak peek of Descendants 3!

Plus – there will be a live musical performance from Disney Channel stars to kick-off the new Disney Channel Voices.

Disney Channel Voices is a new campaign to showcase the multitalented young stars of the Disney Channel a platform to express themselves through music. Check out the first release here of Meg Donnelly’s (Zombies) single “Digital Love”.
