A Closer Look at the Easter Sweets at Walt Disney World for 2019.

Spring is bounding in! The birds are chirping, animals are emerging and Easter Sweets at Walt Disney World are appearing! Holidays really bring out the best in the Imagineers at Disney, and this year they have gone above and beyond!

Of course, we can’t have Easter without the famous Walt Disney World Resort chocolate egg displays! There are several displays of hand-crafted chocolate eggs in the lobbies of the deluxe resorts!

At Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa guests can find the beautiful chocolate eggs in the main lobby of the resort, as well as, in the dining room of the Grand Floridian Café! We love that there are such a variety of characters displayed on these eggs! Look at Dumbo, so beautiful!

While you are at the Grand Floridian make sure you head over to the pop-up store near the front entrance of the lobby where you can pick up some extra Easter Sweets at Walt Disney World! Guests can purchase Easter baskets plus an array of snacks including bunny marshmallow pops, white chocolate Easter bunny pop, sugar cookies, pastel Mickey whoopie pies, grand egg filled with jelly beans and more!

Now that we loaded up on special Easter sweets at Walt Disney World, let’s head over to Disney’s Yacht Club & Beach Club Resort before heading over to Disney’s BoardWalk Resort for more chocolate egg displays! At Disney’s Yacht Club, Beach Club, and BoardWalk Resorts guests can find more beautiful egg displays in the lobbies! Plus, through April 20^th, guests visiting Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club resorts can also purchase a 7-inch Mickey and Minnie Chocolate egg while supplies!

Last resort participating in the hand-crafted egg displays is Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Located on the first floor in the lobby of the resort, guests can find 35 white and dark chocolate Easter eggs on display. Located in the center of this giant egg display is a centerpiece egg signed by a few familiar Disney friends. Do you see a favorite egg at the Contemporary Resort? We are loving the Mickey shaped snack eggs, along with Finding Nemo!

Let’s hop on over to the parks to find more Easter Sweets at Walt Disney World! Starting in Animal Kingdom, guests can enjoy this delicious Easter Egg Cupcake, available through April 27, 2019, which consists of a yellow cupcake filled with Key Lime curd topped with fondant eggs, coconut buttercream, and coconut shavings!

Over at Epcot, guests can find Easter Sweets at many different locations! Located at Sunshine Seasons, guests can enjoy an Easter Bunny Cake, available through April 21, 2019, that is a traditional carrot cake topped with cream cheese buttercream. At Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe, guests can enjoy a springtime lemon cheesecake, available through April 21, 2019, topped with buttercream and chocolate eggs. Lastly, at Fountain View, guests can purchase an Easter Basket Tart, only available on April 21, 2019, which consists of lemon tart with lemon curd and marshmallow mouuse with a phyllo dough basket with malted chocolate eggs! Sounds delicious! Easter Sweets at Walt Disney World not your thing? Try the prime rib special at Le Cellier Steakhouse or the Sunday Roast Lamb at the Rose & Crown Dining Rooms. Both dishes are available only on April 21, 2019.

Now take a hop, skip and a jump over to Disney Springs for more Easter Sweets at Walt Disney World! Located at Amorette’s Patisserie, guests can purchase quite a few cute Easter Sweets! Available April 18-24, guests can purchase a Bunny Macaron filled with chocolate strawberry ganache. Also available is a Bunny Petit Carrot Cake with pineapple pate de fruit and cream cheese mousse. Also located in Disney Springs at the Ganachery are more Easter sweets available through April 21, 2019. Guests can purchase a Minnie Bunny Pinata or Chocolate Pinata Egg. The Minnie Bunny consists of a milk chocolate sphere filled with assorted chocolate Easter eggs and strawberry and white chocolate crispy pearls. The chocolate piñata egg consist of dark chocolate egg filled with house-made chocolate-covered vanilla bean marshmallows and assorted chocolate eggs. Also available at The Ganachery is a chocolate bunny with assorted chocolate eggs, Chocolate Easter eggs, and a Spring Key Lime Ganache pop covered in dark chocolate and hand-painted!

Disney’s Yacht Club & Beach Club Resort, The Market at Ale & Compass and Beach Club Marketplace. Available through April 22, guests can purchase the Easter Dessert, which is a vanilla confetti cupcake with lemon filling topped with vanilla buttercream icing and fondant decorations.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, The Mara. Available through April 21, guests can purchase the Spring Garden Cupcake, which is a coconut cake with lemon mousse, chocolate glacage, and coconut buttercream.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory and Riverside Mill Food Court. Available through April 22, the Easter Egg Cupcake is a vanilla cupcake filled with chocolate salted caramel mousse and topped with vanilla buttercream and sugar eggs.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Centertown Market. Available through April 22, guests can purchase this Easter Egg Cupcake, which also consists of vanilla cupcake filled with chocolate salted caramel mousse and topped with vanilla buttercream and sugar eggs.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Everything POP, shopping and dining and at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Landscape of Flavors. Available through April 22, guests can purchase an Easter Cupcake, which is a yellow cupcake with lemon curd filling topped with raspberry buttercream, sugared eggs, spring sprinkles, and rainbow glitter!

Disney’s All-Star Resorts, Intermission food court, End Zone food court, and World Premier Food Court. Available through April 22, guests at this resort can purchase an Easter Bunny cupcake, which consists of chocolate cupcake with marshmallow filling and sprinkles topped with green marshmallow buttercream, peach buttercream, and a sugar bunny feet and tail.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, The Artist’s Palette and Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Good’s Food to Go. Available April 18-21, guests can purchase an Easter Dessert carrot cake filled with whipped cream cheese icing and garnished with a house-made white chocolate egg.

ABC Commissary Closing for Refurbishment

Beginning this month, the ABC Commissary at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be closing for refurbishment.

The popular dining location will be closed from April 28th to June 1st, 2019. The restaurant will feature new interior design upgrades, new furnishings, a new beverage station, and an updated menu once it reopens.

The ABC Commissary will also be changing its dinner service from a quick-service experience to one that accepts reservations.

Advance Dining Reservations for dinner at the ABC Commissary are available starting June 2nd, 2019.

Guests with reservations will place their orders, take a pager, and find a seat. When their order is ready, a server will bring the food to their table. Dinner reservations will begin at 4pm each night.

Walk-ins are still welcome, but the wait times may be longer than previous visits. Mobile order will no longer be available for dinner regardless if a guest has a reservation or not. Lunch service at the ABC Commissary will remain the same.

Reservations can be made by calling 407-WDW-DINE or by booking online. Please note that the ABC Commissary is still listed as “quick-service” on the Walt Disney World Website until after the refurbishment.

Exclusive Hollywood Studios’ 30th anniversary Merchandise For Passholders

May 1st will celebrate Hollywood Studios’ 30th Anniversary! In addition to specialty merchandise, celebrations, and food, Annual Passholders will also be treated to exclusives! Exclusive Hollywood Studios’ 30th anniversary Merchandise will be offered for Passholders, including a pin, MagicBand, and apparel.

The Passholder exclusive merchandise will be unveiled on May 1 alongside the other special offerings celebrating Hollywood Studios’ 30th. The limited edition items will be sold as long as supplies last, and guests can purchase up to 2 of each.

Disney has unveiled a sneak peak of a Pin, a MagicBand, and a t-shirt. The pin is a beautiful blue featuring the HS 30 Anniversary logo, of Mickey Cheerfully popping out from the “30”. Iconic symbols of Hollywood Studios can be seen in the background, with fireworks bursting overhead. “Annual Passholder” stands out on the bottom in silver.

The t-shirt is shown with the regular edition shirt for the event, and has a similar design. The AP shirt will be a heather grey, and feature writing in the film reel instead of characters. Again the Hollywood Studios symbols will grace the background behind Mickey.

The MagicBand is what we’re all drooling over! This blue band is covered in starbursts, and Hollywood Studios icons in different shades of blue. The AP version of the 30th anniversary logo will be stretched around the band, and “2019” will be at the top.

Disney Cruise Line is aiming to inspire the next generation of female leaders with a collection of new initiatives in the maritime industry. The debut of Captain Minnie Mouse, new youth programs and the funding of scholarships are designed to empower girls and young women to pursue careers in the cruise industry and chart a course for success.

Inspiring Youth through the Magic of Captain Minnie Mouse

Disney characters delight and inspire children around the globe, and Disney Cruise Line is counting on the power of the mouse – Minnie Mouse – to spread the message of exploring new horizons, both by land and by sea.

Captain Minnie Mouse, in her crisp new uniform with smart white trousers or skirt and a bold red jacket emblazoned with captain’s insignia, will make the rounds on all Disney ships starting in April.

Empowering Women through Maritime Scholarships

In 2019, Disney Cruise Line will sponsor four scholarships at the LJM Maritime Academy in The Bahamas for female cadets who aspire to be ship captains and shipboard leaders. The scholarships, one for each of the ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, will include tuition to the three-year program. The scholarships will include two years of study at the academy and one year of service aboard a Disney ship.

“Our Disney characters have a unique ability to inspire and connect with children, and we know Captain Minnie will encourage young girls around the world to consider a career in the maritime industry,” said Jeff Vahle, president of Disney Cruise Line. “We are excited to work with LJM Maritime Academy to offer scholarships for young women who are pursuing their passions and following their dreams in our industry.”

Nautical Fun for Children at Sea

Onboard Disney Cruise Line ships later this year, Captain Minnie Mouse will appear in an all-new youth activity where young captain hopefuls practice STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills in a fun maritime-themed activity. Children will hone their STEM and problem-solving abilities – skills that play an important role in the maritime industry – in a series of engaging, hands-on activities.

The interactive experience will be a journey of discovery, exploration and imagination that will be offered in Disney’s Oceaneer Lab aboard all Disney ships.

Why Knot – Taking Nautical Fun Ashore

As part of a commitment to encourage future generations to pursue careers in the maritime industry, Captain Minnie Mouse will visit children in some of Disney Cruise Line’s homeports and ports of call.

Children will have an opportunity to meet Captain Minnie Mouse and be inspired by her “can do” qualities and ability to tackle any goal she sets her mind to.

As part of these local community visits, Captain Minnie Mouse will be accompanied by a female Disney Cruise Line officer or crew member to showcase their roles in the maritime industry and raise awareness about career choices for women aboard a cruise ship.

Exclusive Captain Minnie Mouse Merchandise

To celebrate the excitement of Captain Minnie Mouse at the helm, Disney Cruise Line is unveiling a special line of merchandise, exclusive to the Disney fleet. Items in the nautical-themed collection of apparel and gifts tout the tagline, “You Can Call Me Captain.” A brand-new Captain Minnie Mouse plush will be introduced this summer.

Captain Minnie Mouse also takes the spotlight on a new PANDORA Jewelry charm, available for purchase exclusively onboard.

In the future, girls will get to dress the part with a Captain Minnie Mouse makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, available exclusively on Disney ships. At this special salon, children can transform into seafaring captains, inspired by their favorite mouse.

The Recently Introduced Hei Hei Cone Is No Longer Available

I have some sad news to report for fans of the Hei Hei Cone. It seems that this creation has flown the coop.

The Hei Hei Cone was a new dessert that was introduced recently back in February. It was found at Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom Park. The Hei Hei Cone consisted of a blue cone filled with a layer of Pineapple DOLE Whip®, Raspberry Soft-serve, Sugar-Piece eyes, and a Sour Candy Comb. From the color scheme to the bulging eyes, the Hei Hei Cone captured the essence of Hei Hei perfectly!

As you can see in the photo above, the Hei Hei Cone is not listed on the menu for Aloha Isle any longer. Visitors can, however, still get a Pineapple Float, a Dole Whip Cup, or a Pineapple Upside Down Cake to satisfy their Dole Whip craving.

The Hei Hei Cone was such a cute representation of the character from Disney’s Moana. I for one am a bit sad to see it removed from the menu. What are your thoughts about the Hei Hei Cone being removed from the Aloha Isle menu?

Extended Park Hours Coming to Magic Kingdom This Spring. For Disney guests visiting in April, May, and June of 2019 there may be more time for you to enjoy all the Magic Kingdom has to offer!

Disney is offering extended operating hours on various dates over the next few months. Here are the dates with the new park hours:

May 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, June 1st: OPENING at 8AM
April 28th-30th, May 1st, 2nd, 5th-10th, 12th-17th, 19th-24th, 27th, 28th, 30th: CLOSING at 10 PM
May 3rd, 4th, 11th, 25th, 26th, 29th, 31st: CLOSING at 11 PM
May 18th, June 1st: CLOSING at 12 AM

Disneyland Adds Additional Blockout Dates for Cast Members

Disneyland cast members have received an increase in blockout dates for their Main Entrance Passes and Self-Admission privileges. This was an expected change.

Disneyland cast members will not be allowed to use their complimentary admission benefits for an extended amount of time. The blockout range takes place from May 16th, 2019 to the end of August at minimum.

The opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is set for May 31st. This new land is expected to attract record crowds in the second half of 2019 and well into 2020. The decision to blockout several cast member dates was made to protect against overcrowding at the Disneyland Park.

Cast members with valid complimentary admissions will still be allowed to enter Disney California Adventure on a variety of days throughout the summer and rest of 2019.

Several precautions are being taken to control the crowns in both Disneyland in Anaheim and Hollywood Studios in Orlando for the upcoming opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout!; will feature distinct animation styles in a multipart story arc kicking off SUNDAY, MAY 5 (9:30–10:30 p.m.EDT/PDT), with two back-to-back episodes on Disney XD and DisneyNOW. In the new storyline, the Guardians, desperate to escape the Collectors collapsing ship, jump into the Black Vortex Mirror and find themselves separated and trapped in strange new worlds. Crossing time and dimensions, each world was developed using different animation techniques to visually support the storytelling, including CG-stop motion, children’s book illustration, 8-bit, motion comic – all firsts for a Marvel animated series- as well as Golden Age and traditional CG.

Devil's Snare Announced As The Next Magical Creature To Be Featured In Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure

Throughout the course of this week, Universal Orlando is revealing a new magical creature each day that will be featured in the newest ride to join the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is opening in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal’s Islands of Adventure on June 13th. This highly immersive ride will take muggles and wizards alike on a thrilling journey with Hagrid through the Forbidden Forest where you are sure to encounter some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures.

So far this week, we have learned that Fluffy the three-headed dog (from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) and those pesky Cornish Pixies will be making their debut in Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. Today, we learned of another new “creature” that will be a part of the ride- Devil’s Snare.

Devil’s Snare isn’t a true creature, but it is a highly dangerous plant from the wizarding world. This seemingly innocuous plant frequently squeezes and strangles its unsuspecting victims when they touch this unruly plant’s vines. It is important to keep in mind that Devil’s Snare thrives in dark and damp environments, and has a strong dislike of light and fire. This may serve as useful knowledge during your journey into the forest!

Facing the Devil’s Snare will be one of the many challenges you will face in Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. Remember to remain calm if you find yourself ensnared in a thicket of this devilish plant. If you struggle, you may find yourself entangled in hundreds of its vines.

Fun Fact: We first encountered Devil’s Snare in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone when ever-wise Hermione helped her friends escape its dangerous clutches.

New magical creatures will be revealed each day this week until April 19th to prepare you for your journey. Stay tuned tomorrow to learn the next magical creature we will meet in the Forbidden Forest!

Tram and Security Area Construction at Epcot

Construction work will begin this week at Epcot in Walt Disney World.

Walt Disney World is currently making upgrades on the arrival experience at all four parks. These property-wide renovations are taking place at the security and tram areas of Epcot in the coming weeks.

The parking lot tram’s loading and unloading areas will be temporarily moved during the construction period. This will, unfortunately, result in a longer walking distance for arriving guests. To help combat this issue, Epcot will have two separate tram areas – one for the East lots and one for the West lots.

A few changes will also be made to the security screening process. Guests arriving via cars, via the monorail, and via the bus will all go to different, separate security areas.

These upgrades are already in process at Hollywood Studios and the Transportation and Ticket Center. They will soon happen at Animal Kingdom too.

Disney will soon begin additional construction at Epcot to change the entire park’s entrance and central areas. Read about this HERE.

New Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party Coming To Disney California Adventure Park

Halloween may be 6 months away but that does not mean that we can’t think about it, right? Disneyland Resort will be introducing a new event to guests this Halloween season. Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party will take place at Disney California Adventure park. This is a separately ticketed event that will include multiple new experiences perfect for the entire family.

Just what is included in this new event? Well, here are some of the highlights announced:

“Villainous!” – The new “World of Color” show weaves a Halloween tale about a young girl named Shelley Marie. This twisted tale carries Shelley on an unforgettable journey, exploring the villainous side of Disney characters through fountains, lights, lasers, projections and special effects. “Villainous!” shows that, deep down, there’s a little villain in all of us.
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail – Transformed into a wondrous and ethereal world of Disney villains unlike anything seen before, Redwood Creek will be tricked out in a dreamlike environment. This new experience unfolds in a series of scenes, each creating a hauntingly beautiful dream-space of color, sound, light and shadows, as stories emerge from the darkest night to create an enchanting world.
Immersive Treat Trails– Enjoy trick-or-treating at the new, wonderfully wicked treat trails throughout the park. Iconic characters such as Mad Hatter from Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” or even Oogie Boogie himself will surprise and delight. Additional treat trails will feature oversized cauldrons full of treats for all guests to enjoy.
DescenDance – A new pulsing party in the Backlot area of Hollywood Land is inspired by the popular “Descendants” franchise from the Disney Channel. As the DescenDance begins, a spell is cast, summoning the greatest dance crew from the Isle of the Lost to throw down and lead everyone in moves that are set to the biggest hit songs from the “Descendants” films.
“Frightfully Fun Parade”– The guest-favorite parade is coming to Disney California Adventure park for the first time! The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow starts the procession, followed by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse who lead the cavalcade of characters and many mischievous Disney villains who are ready to stir up some trouble along the parade route.
Mickey’s Trick and Treat show – Perfect for young guests, this new, interactive stage production invites kids of all ages to join Mickey Mouse and his pals as they throw a one-of-a-kind Halloween party! Enjoy dancing, not-so-frightening scary-tales, and candy at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land.
Character encounters– Meet beloved Disney characters – and villains, too. You may be surprised at who you discover at this Halloween party, ready for photos and greetings!

Tickets will be going on sale in a tiered system. On April 23, Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club members and Disney Visa card holders will be able to purchase their special event tickets. The tickets go on sale to the general public beginning on April 30. The Oogie Boogie Bash will take place on the following dates during the 2019 season:

September: 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 29
October: 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29, 31

The Oogie Boogie Bash begins at 6 P.M. (PT) and party goers will have the ability to enter Disney California Adventure park early prior to the party. Guests will be able to enter the park three hours prior on Tuesday and Thursday nights (excluding October 29 and October 31) or four hours on Sunday nights, plus October 29 and October 31.

Easter Shopping Guide at Disney Springs

Easter is this Sunday and Disney Springs is the place to go for fun and delicious things to fill up those baskets!

Surely, you will need to fuel up before doing some major shopping. So let’s talk brunch first!

Wine Bar George is hosting the Wine Country Brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11am-3pm. The menu will feature favorites like Burrata, Eggs Benedict, French Toast and more. Check out delicious brunches at Maria & Enzo’s and STK Orlando or hop on over to Enzo’s Hideaway or The Edison for delicious a la carte menus.

And now for the main attraction. Easter baskets!

Add some Disney magic with the Disney Parks Wishables collection. These little plushies come in four different sets and can be found at Once Upon a Toy. They come in a blind bag so kids of all ages can be surprised when they see which plush they received.

Next, head over to the Build-A-Dino by Build-A-Bear Workshop at T-REX and make your own bunny, sloth, or dinosaur with an Easter outfit.

Basin is offering Easter egg bath bombs that smell like Pink Sugar, Satsuma, or Water Lily. Fresh cut soaps can be found in beautiful floral designs that are perfect for spring too!

If you are looking for a pre-made Easter basket, Goofy’s Candy Co. is the place to go! These fully-assembled baskets come filled with delicious goodies that are sure to put a smile on anyone’s face.

Lastly, treat yourself to something special too! Sprinkles is honoring the most famous Easter snack – Peeps! A Lemon Strawberry Peeps cupcake will be available through April 21st.
