First Look: New Photos of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland

First Look: New Photos of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland

Star Wars fans are anxiously awaiting the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland on May 31st.  But, you won’t have to wait until then to get a glimpse of what’s in store for visitors to the Black Spire Outpost.  We have some of the first photos of the new land ever released, thanks to our friends over at D23.  Take a look at these amazing photos and check out all of the crazy details around every corner of this new land!

Since Black Spire Outpost is a popular spaceport on Batuu for travelers reaching the Outer Rim Territories, you’ll see lots of different Starships of the galaxy parked at the port.  Some of the familiar ships will be, two X-Wings (blue & white and Poe Dameron’s orange & black) as well as an A-Wing.

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

Of course, the Millennium Falcon will be on hand for guests to experience in the Smuggler’s Run attraction.  We can see in the iconic hallways making up a part of the entrance for the ride, as well as a few notable backdrops from scenes of previous Star Wars films.

Recognize this location below?  This location on the Millennium Falcon was featured in The Empire Strikes Back – it’s where Leia and Han share their first kiss!  This location will be the perfect spot for couples to recreate the iconic scene.

Near the exit of Smugglers Run, you’ll spot another Easter Egg from the movies.  A Rathtar frozen in carbonite.  Known for mistakenly being let loose by Rey on the Millenium Falcon in The Force Awakens, Rathtars are”big, dangerous and ugly”.  Let’s hope there aren’t any others lurking around the ship.

Play Along With The Mobile App

Hidden details can be found everywhere you look in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.  These signs carved into the shop entrances need to be translated using the Star Wars: Datapad.  You can find this in the Play Disney Parks mobile app (unless you’re fluent in intergalactic languages).  There are tons of messages hidden around the land.  Use the app to interact with devices, control panels, and droids too!

A galactic handheld mobile device displays symbols and characters in Aurebesh, a language used in Star Wars, as a starship looms nearby on the landing pad

Black Spire Outpost was given that name because of the giant black trees that once towered over it.  You can see those trees petrified remains in the “spires” that tower over the land.

Inside Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, you’ll find lots of quick service options for hungry space travelers.  If you look closely, you’ll also find a nod to the first trilogy of Star Wars films.  A large crate near the center of the space is labeled “80”, for the year The Empire Strikes Back was released.

Take a close look around and see if you can spot the “77” and “83” paying homage to the other two original films.

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is a literal treasure-trove of artifacts.  Inside the den, you’ll find collections of helmets, and taxidermied heads of familiar space creatures.

Look around for other collectibles and artifacts relating to Jedi and Sith lore.  Statues of famous Jedi knights, historic lightsabers and holocrons can be found on display.

These photos are just a glimpse of the amazing details that can be found at Galaxy’s Edge.  I’m sure we’ll see much more when the land officially opens to guests on May 31st. To see all of the photos visit D23.

Galaxy’s Edge Reservations

Remember that if you’re planning to visit Disneyland and enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll need a reservation.  Reservations allow guests a 4-hour window to visit the land.  After that, you’ll be asked to move on to another part of the park.  The land will be open to all Disneyland guests with regular admission starting June 24th.

New Details About Epcot’s Space-Themed Restaurant

New Details About Epcot's Space-Themed Restaurant

New details have been released for the space-themed restaurant in Walt Disney World!

Disney diners, this is Mission Control. The new restaurant in Epcot is officially clear for takeoff in 2019!

You heard it right – we will see a new table-service restaurant experience open later this year. The new space-themed restaurant will be located adjacent to the Mission: SPACE attraction.

Be prepared for a dining experience that is “out of this world” both literally and figuratively. According to the concept art, all windows will be screens that make it seem like you are dining in the middle of the solar system.

The Patina Restaurant Group will operate the new dining location. They have developed a menu that features internationally-inspired cuisine. You will also see more than 1,000 bottles of the world’s best wines and a large selection of craft beer.

These are all of the details we have for now, but Epcot’s new restaurant seems like it will be a space-cial experience!

New Mickey Celebration Donut at Magic Kingdom

New Mickey Celebration Donut at Magic Kingdom

Come on everybody get your ears on (and your grub on)! This new Mickey Celebration Donut can now be found at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. From the looks of it, the craze for all things donut and Mickey-shaped is not dying down. With the new line of clothes, kitchen goods, and all the yummy snacks it looks like the snack craze is picking up speed. The Mickey Celebration Donut tastes as good as it looks and is massive.

New Mickey Celebration Donut at Magic Kingdom

This humongous new Mickey Celebration Donut can be found at The Launching Pad in Tomorrow Land and it comes with a choice of three flavors of frosting. You can choose from chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry frosting on your donut. This new treat is $8.99 which for the size of it isn’t bad. However this is not available as a dining plan snack credit.

New Mickey Celebration Donut at Magic Kingdom

Thank goodness the new Mickey  Celebration Donut comes in a box because it was so big we had trouble finishing it. It’s definitely a snack you can share with friends (or not this is a no judgment zone). As you can see we opted for the chocolate donut yesterday and it was really delicious. It has some fun celebration sprinkles and we are excited about all the new treats recently.

New Mickey Celebration Donut at Magic Kingdom

Disney has definitely stepped up the treat game lately with some fun and photogenic snacks and this one is no exception.  Make sure you get this new Mickey Celebration Donut at Magic Kingdom before they disappear. Is this a snack you’ll be trying? Drop a comment below and let us know.

Disney Unwraps The Character Themed Skyliner Gondolas

Skyliner Gondolas

Skyliner Gondolas

This week, Disney unveiled 55 of its character-themed gondolas for more test runs on the Skyliner system.  This is a major step toward the grand opening of the Skyliner system coming this Fall.

Skyliner Gondolas

The gondola designs are based on a number of Disney’s many films, as well as popular park attractions (Haunted Mansion!).  They can currently be seen completing test runs between Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Skyliner Gondolas

Disney began testing on the gondolas months ago, and will still have lots of testing to complete before the transportation system opens this fall.  Once finished, guests will be able to travel to and from Caribbean Beach Resort, Pop Century, Art of Animation and the new Riviera Resort (opening December 2019).  The Skyliner will have stops at both Hollywood Studios and Epcot’s International Gateway entrance.

Skyliner Gondolas

The Skyliner system will have a total of 300 gondolas that can accommodate up to 10 guests in each cabin.  You’ll be able to enjoy birds-eye views of the parks and resorts in the mere minutes the trip will take.

Take a look at the approximate travel times between various Disney Skyliner locations.

  • Caribbean Beach Resort to Hollywood Studios – 6 minutes
  • Caribbean Beach Resort to Art of Animation Resort or Pop Century Resort – 6 minutes
  • Caribbean Beach Resort to Riviera Resort – 5 minutes
  • Caribbean Beach Resort to Epcot’s International Gateway – 15 minutes
  • Riviera Resort to Epcot’s International Gateway – 9 minutes

Skyliner Gondolas

The gondolas also feature a cross ventilation system and reflective window coatings to keep the cabins cool in the hot Florida sun.  Take a look at the unveiling of the cabins and see them in action above the Hollywood Studios skyline.

I can’t wait for the Skyliner to be fully operational this Fall!  Will you use the Skyliner when staying or visiting one of the serviced resorts and parks?

Happy Mother’s Day with a Look at the Masai Giraffe Mamas and Their Babies!

Happy Mother’s Day with a Look at the Masai Giraffe Mamas and Their Babies!

Mother’s Day is a way to celebrate the women in our lives that mold us and help us grow into the Disney loving adults we have become.

This Mother’s Day we celebrate with the new Masai Giraffe moms and babies at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Take a look at these mamas and babies loving up on each other and let the cute wash over you.

Happy Mother’s Day with a Look at the Masai Giraffe Mamas and Their Babies!

The youngest calf Acacia and her mother, Stephanie are our first family to celebrate! This little one was born in early April and keepers are still deciding on her name. She may be small now, but she’s growing quickly, and if she’s anything like Stephanie, she’ll be very independent and bravely exploring the savanna on her own very soon.

Happy Mother’s Day with a Look at the Masai Giraffe Mamas and Their Babies!

Violet and her mother, Willow take to the savanna and enjoy playing with others while the safari drives through! Violet was born on Feb. 11, and has reached all her developmental milestones under Willow’s watchful eyes.

Jabari made an exciting entrance into the world in January when his mom Mara gave birth right on savanna at Kilimanjaro Safaris. Now that the duo has joined the rest of the tower, you’ll find both tucked into the middle of the action. Mara likes to be near other giraffes while she bonds with her calf – so Jabari has quickly become part of the herd.

The Grape Soda Badge Purse Is Taking Disney Style UP UP UP!

The Grape Soda Badge Purse Is Taking Disney Style UP UP UP!

Adventure is out there, and so is great style with one of the newest handbags available at the Disney Parks. The new handbag is a Grape Soda Badge Purse, and it is inspired by Ellie’s iconic gift to Earl when they first meet. I’m not crying, I swear I am not crying, yes I am.

The Grape Soda Badge Purse Is Taking Disney Style UP UP UP!

Crafted with layers of faux leather, this die-cut bag takes the beloved Grape Soda Pin to new heights. Metallic faux leather is scalloped around the edge of the purse to really capture that soda bottle cap look too. The body of the purse is a pretty decent size for holding your phone, wallet, and other small essentials. It’s also a round shell, so you don’t have to worry about any awkward shapes to fit into.

The Grape Soda Badge Purse Is Taking Disney Style UP UP UP!

My favorite part of the bag is actually the handle! The handle is heavy duty, and made from molded metal in the shape of a safety pin! It is truly the perfect finishing touch on an already perfect design. This stunning bag is available for $75.00. I can’t wait to see this bag paired with the UP! dress too!

What do you think of the new Grape Soda Badge Purse? Will you be adding it to your Disney handbag collection?

A special thanks to the fabulous Melissa Holliday for the stunning photos!

New Disney Addiction Buttons, Inspired By Fan Favorites

Disney Addiction Buttons

Disney Addiction Buttons

Disney guests have long adored the celebration buttons offered for different events, like birthdays, weddings, etc. The buttons have an iconic look that fans have been making recreations of for a long time, and now you can find Disney Addiction Buttons just like them at the Disney Parks!

The new fan inspired buttons are available in pairs for $9.99, and can currently be found at Mouse Gear in Epcot. I’m sure we’ll start to see them pop up in other locations soon enough! There are four different duo packs available, that have coordinating Disney themes.

New Disney Addiction Buttons, Inspired By Fan Favorites

Take a trip on over the Liberty Square and Adventureland with this duo pack. I think I’ll nickname these the pun-tractions buttons. The first is a Haunted Mansion inspired button that says “Not a Mourning Person”, obviously the pun is on the “morning”. The other in inspired by the Jungle Cruise, which is an attraction quite notable for puns. The Jungle Cruise button says “If You Don’t Believe Me, You’re in De-Nile”. Ha, get it, de-NILE, like the Nile River. Yea you get it, I’ll stop now.

New Disney Addiction Buttons, Inspired By Fan Favorites

There are all types of Disney Addicts, some are ride addicts, some are character meet n greet addicts, food addicts, etc. This duo pack is for those who love rides, and getting autographs!

Disney Addiction Buttons

Speaking of Disney Addicts, there are some style inspired ones too. Ariel is longingly looking at a Dinglehopper, and the button reads “Looking For More Thing-a-ma-bobs”. This one is perfect for those hunting rare collectibles, or just obsessed with collecting all of their favorites. The other one is my personal favorite, “I’m Here For The Rose Gold”. This one is for all the Rose Gold loving Disney gals out there, and I am proud to be one of them!

Disney Addiction Buttons

Last but not least we have some Tomorrowland inspired buttons. The super popular Purple Wall gets it’s own button, and comes packaged with another button inspired by the beloved People Mover. I know I’ll have to add the “Meet Me at the Purple Wall” button to my collection too.

It’s kind of fun seeing these newly themed celebration inspired buttons, and I can’t wait to see what other themes are on the horizon. What do you think about the new fan-inspired Disney Addiction Buttons now available at the Disney Parks?

A big special thanks to the lovely Susan for these spectacular button pics!
