Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge-Authenticity in an Epic New Land.

In case you missed it, which we are sure you haven’t, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened yesterday, May 31, 2019 at Disneyland Park in California. Galaxy’s Edge will debut at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World on August 29, 2019.

As guests enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge they will be immersed in a land filled with rich details that have been meticulously researched and crafted by Imagineers after four decades of films, television series, novels, comic books, video games and more! Even though the planet Batuu and its Black Spire Outpost are new to fans, Imagineers were driven to fulfill the dreams of anyone wishing to visit a galaxy far, far away with hidden gems and details throughout the land.

Batuu and the Black Spire Outpost that make up Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is inspired by several Star Wars stories. Batuu has been mentioned in stories such as “Star Wars: Pirate’s Price” where Hondo Ohnaka made a previous trip to Batuu and the five-issue Marvel comic series “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” which delves into some of the famous antiquities found in Dok-Ondar’s shop on Batuu. In addition, both the Black Spire Outpost and Dok-Ondar were references in “Solo: A Star Wars Story”.

Throughout the land guests can look for special hidden gems that represent many different eras. Guests can spot several creatures throughout the land such as the Dianoga from the Death Star trash compactor found in “Star Wars: A New Hope” and a taxidermic Wampa from the ice planet Hoth in “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back”.

Another hidden gem is a podracing engine located in the Ronto Roasters market which is a nod to “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace”. Guests can also spot a former smelter droid turning the spit of meats which resembles a droid seen in Jabba the Hutt’s palace in “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi”.

A mural located on the wall of Dok-Ondar’s den of Antiquities depicts an ancient battle between the light and dark sides of the force which was depicted in Chancellor Palpatine’s office in “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith”.

In Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run while guests are receiving their mission, they will be receiving their mission from Hondo Ohnaka who is best known from the “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels” animated television series.

To ensure authenticity in the designs of the land, Imagineers visited George Lucas’ private archives in California to study original Star Wars concept artwork created by Ralph McQuarrie, as well as visiting the film sets in the United Kingdom where they studied ships, costumes, and props to help inform their work on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

These visits allowed the Imagineers to develop merchandise that were authentic to original props and costumes, such as the Jedi Robes and tunics which were modeled after the costumes for Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker in “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith”.

The Force Is Strong With The New Yoda Headband

R2-D2 and BB-8 headbands aren’t the only fashionable hair accessories you’ll find in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. You can also be one with The Force with the Yoda Headband! Transform yourself into the renowned Jedi master, while looking cute too.

The Yoda ears come on a clear headband, which helps to conceal it in your hair. This way it looks like you’ve got your very own green pointy ears! Small tufts of “fur” sprout from the base of the ears to really seal that Yoda vibe. They are available for $29.99, and currently limited to one pair per guest.

They do say “YOUTH” sized on them. However as you can see from Chip’s modeling here, they will fit adults too! You can also pick up Yoda’s robe and walking stick too! These ears are actually found OUTSIDE of Galaxy’s Edge, so you won’t need reservations to go into the new land, if these are a must have for you.

Construction Update on Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind

Here is a construction update on the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. Over the last few months, we have been following along as this new attraction is added to Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure park. Now, we have some updated photos to share, as things are moving right along for this exciting new addition to open!

The Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind is expected to open this summer. It is inspired by the Pixar film, “Inside Out”. This fun and family-friendly attraction will take guests on an an emotional spin as they venture through Headquarters, the workplace of Riley’s emotions – Joy, Sadness, Anger and Disgust.

Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind will join the other fun attractions on Pixar Pier including the Incredicoaster and Jessie’s Critter Carousel. It’s sure to be a great addition!

First Guests Enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on Opening Day

Friday marked the most anticipated event in the universe since that big Geonosian battle station went kablooey. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge finally opened the floodgates to welcome Disneyland park guests to pilot the Millennium Falcon and drink all the blue milk their humanoid hearts desire.

Clocking in at 14 acres and $1 billion, Galaxy’s Edge is the biggest and most advanced land expansion in the history of Disney Parks. Even just a day into its opening, Galaxy’s Edge is already inspiring legends of $200 lightsaber builds and adorable droids you can take home.

Nestled into the rocky hills of the remote world of Batuu, the Black Spire Outpost was designed to be the most immersive world Disney Parks have built.

From that intense lightsaber build at Savi’s Workshop (which is an experience that can take up to three hours) to the attention to detail on Kat Saka’s popcorn cart, the entire area puts guests within the Star Wars universe.

We were there for Day One, and if watching all our Instagram stories from Batuu is giving you painful FOMO, it’s time to make your reservation.

Reservations for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Until June 23rd, you’ll need to secure your spot in the Black Spire Outpost via a stay at the Disneyland Hotel.

All general reservations have been taken, but by staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels, you can still make it there in less than 12 parsecs (or at least before the end of June). All reservations allow guests 4 hours in Galaxy’s Edge and park admission is required (single day adult admission tickets are $149 per adult after June 1st).

After the 23rd, all bets are off and reservations will no longer be required. And for those planning on visiting East Batuu at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, don’t forget your opening date is August 29th.

New Descendants 3 Music Video "Good to Be Bad"

Disney Channel’s Descendants returns with a new movie, new music, and a new way to be wicked!

Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay all return for the much anticipated Descendants 3 Disney Channel Original Movie, directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega. This movie also has an official premier date, August 2nd 2019. So we won’t have to wait too long to see our favorites back at Auradon Prep.

In this 3rd installment, Mal and the gang journey back to the Isle of the Lost for VK, or Villain Kids, Day. They set out to find 4 more worthy lost boys or girls to bring back to Auradon. There might just be one thing standing in their way. Uma hasn’t forgot about her rival, Mal. Uma has also recruited the help of Hades to carry out her revenge. Which leaves Mal with a tough decision. Is she to close the barrier of the Isle of the Lost for good?

We can’t mention Descendants 3 without talking about the amazing music! The writing and production team of Sara Parriott and Josann McGibbon have also returned for the film and are better than ever. To prove that, Walt Disney Records has released the opening number and music video for “Good to Be Bad”. This catchy, VK anthem is available for download. The Descendants 3 soundtrack is currently available for digital pre-order. For now, let’s just watch the “Good to Be Bad” music video again!

Speaking of bad, we will be introduced to some new villains in this film. We already mentioned, Hades, played by Cheyenne Jackson. Choreographer, Jamal Sims will join the cast to play Dr. Facilier.

MSE-6 Series Repair Droid Popcorn Bucket At Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

This MSE-6 Series Repair Droid Popcorn Bucket is the Droid I am looking for! As part of the opening of the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land opening in Disneyland, a new Star Wars inspired popcorn vessel has launched! If you don’t know about the MSE-6 it is nicknamed the mouse droid, the MSE is a courier that delivers secure point-to-point communiqués. MSEs are also used for simple maintenance tasks including floor polishing and spot welding. This one however will be used for delivering popcorn to our mouths.

The repair droid popcorn bucket comes with the Outpost Popcorn Mix which is a sweet and spicy popcorn, that is also multi-colored. You’ll find this delicious Droid of popcorn at Kat Saka’s Kettle in Galaxy’s Edge. It retail for $19.99 and that includes the flavorful popcorn treat.

This Droid bucket becomes a functional keepsake, with real wheels that actually roll! My family also finds the Star Wars popcorn buckets to be great for storage. We usually use ours for storing our Star Wars figures, and die-cast vehicles.

They are going fast, which is to be expected. Luckily though Disney has capped the purchase of these at ONE per guest!

Disney’s Aladdin at the El Capitan Theatre

We were invited to the special engagement of Disney’s Aladdin at the El Capitan Theatre last Tuesday night. There were two photo opportunity that guests can experience before the movie. The first one was the magic lamp. As you rub it and make a wish, it lights up and emits smoke. It was really cool and interactive experience. For the second photo opportunity, you actually go and step onstage to have your picture taken in the cave of wonders for a magic carpet ride. It took up almost half the screen and the photo really looked magical.

There was also an area downstairs where they have an exclusive display of the costumes and props that were used for the movie. The set up was really amazing and it was fun looking at all the character ensembles and props.

El Capitan also offered a special Aladdin popcorn tin bucket for $12 and a special drink cup for $10. The popcorn tin purchase includes a one-time refill.

Placing A Mobile Order Will NOT Get You Into Galaxy’s Edge

Headed to Disneyland between now and June 23rd? Think you can place a Mobile Order for a Ronto Wrap at Ronto Roasters and get into Galaxy’s Edge without a reservation? Think again!

Starting May 31st in Disneyland, guests can use the Mobile Ordering feature to place a food or drink order at Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo, Ronto Roasters, and the Milk Stand. Guests visiting Galaxy’s Edge can order from a variety of options at these participating locations, while they enjoy the other attractions in the new land.

But, if you don’t have a reservation for Galaxy’s Edge – no Blue Milk for you. Disney is using GPS technology to pinpoint your location through the app, so they’ll know if you are in the new land or not.

Guests who try to mobile order while outside the limits of Galaxy’s Edge will be met with a notification in the app. Hungry parkgoers without reservations can visit one of the many other locations that offer mobile ordering throughout the park.

Galaxy’s Edge opens to guests without prior reservations starting June 24th.

The Mint Julep Bar in Disneyland just released a few new treats – the watermelon julep and the butterscotch beignets!

The perfect antidote to a hot day in California is the watermelon julep at the Mint Julep Bar. This alcoholic beverage is made with the classic mint julep ingredients infused with a subtle watermelon twist. The photographic drink is topped with a juicy watermelon slice and a mint garnish. You can enjoy this refreshing beverage for $4.49.

Feeling a little hungry now? Check out the butterscotch beignets also at the Mint Julep Bar. These Mickey-shaped treats pack the classic butterscotch flavor with a delicious dusting of powdered sugar. The pastry is chewy and flaky which makes for a perfect bite. You can munch on these beignets for $5.49 for a pack of three or $8.99 for a pack of six.
