Anonymous Couple Gives a Special Ring to a Special Girl

Special little girl is given ring by anonymous couple

Belle Geiselman and her family were having a wonderful day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios when something unexpected happened. Belle, while playing around with her father, bumped into an anonymous couple- in turn, they gave her a gold Mickey Mouse ring that was very special to them.

As it turns out, the couple was at Disney to commemorate their daughter’s Make-A-Wish trip the year before, on her very last visit to Disney. Adorable little Belle reminded them of their daughter, so they decided to give the ring to her. The anonymous couple explained to Belle’s parents that they had bought two of the gold Mickey Mouse rings. One ring was given to their daughter and the other was to be given to another girl, one who turned out to be just as much of a little fighter.

Anonymous Couple Gives a Special Ring to a Special Girl

What the couple didn’t know was that Belle was a bit of a miracle child. According to People, the doctors were not even sure if she was going to live after being born prematurely at 30 weeks. She needed a feeding tube for proper nutrition until she was 18 months old. It was at this age when she ate without a feeding tube for the first time at Walt Disney World. They came back for this special trip and it was the first time that Belle didn’t need to use her feeding tube or bring her oxygen mask for the plane.

Now after recovering from the shock of receiving something so generous, Belle’s parents want to properly thank the couple for the gesture. And it all started with mouse!

Disney Signed a Contract with the Indigenous People of Scandinavia Before Filming “Frozen 2”

Before making “Frozen 2”, Disney signed a contract with the Indigenous people of Scandinavia.

When “Frozen” debuted in 2013, it opened with a tribal chant. It turns out the tune was recognized right away by the Sámi people – the Indigenous communities in Scandinavia. The context behind that song was subject to being erased from the film completely.

The song was written for “Frozen” by South Sámi musician and composer Frode Jfellheim. He adapted the song, Vuelie, from one of his original pieces called “Eatnemen Vuelie (Song of the Earth). His music is famously based on joik which is a vocal traditional that was unfortunately outlawed when Nordic Indigenous communities were overtaken with Christianity.

The use of Sámi culture led to an uproar on social media regarding cultural appropriation and whitewashing. This debate was based on the use of joiking and Kristoff’s wardrobe in “Frozen”. To ensure the content wasn’t erased, Disney entered a contract with Sámi leaders that confirms the ownership of their culture.

The Sámi parliaments of Norway, Sweden, and Finland, along with the Saami Council (a non-governmental organization of Sámi people) formed a group called Verdett to act as cultural ambassadors. Anne Lájla Utsi was part of this group and she shared a contract that shows an agreement between Walt Disney Animation Studios and the Sámi people.

The contract was signed by film producer Peter Del Vecho and the Sámi parliament members. It highlights Disney’s “desire to collaborate with the Sámi to ensure that the content of Frozen 2 is culturally sensitive, appropriate, and respectful of the Sámi and their culture.”

They made an agreement that the Sámi people will give their cultural input and in exchange, Disney will produce a second version of “Frozen 2” in Sámi language and play a part in cross-learning initiatives that contribute to learning about Indigenous people of Scandinavia.

The original chant, Vuelie, will be used again in “Frozen 2”, but with a new spin that gives respect to the Sámi people’s culture. Sámi people will also be culturally represented with spirits that resemble earth, wind, and fire.

With the release of Disney+, some of Disney’s culturally insensitive content has required a disclaimer before the film. Hopefully, Disney’s steps with the Sámi people will prevent this from happening with “Frozen 2”.

Spoiler-Free Review of “The World According to Jeff Goldblum”

Jeff Goldblum

Jeff Goldblum

It’s been a week since Disney+ launched and many are still exploring the content available on the streaming service. Viewers are curious about original Disney+ exclusive shows, so today we review “The World According To Jeff Goldblum.”

Spoiler-Free Review

“The World According to Jeff Goldblum” is a documentary series produced by National Geographic. The premise of the show is quite different from the usual documentary. Each episode focuses purely on one subject for Jeff Goldblum to examine. He travels to exciting locations and shares his experiences with viewers. The show highlights Goldblum’s charm and eccentric mannerisms. If you’re familiar with his work in film, then you’ll appreciate the enthusiasm and energy he brings to the documentary series. Instead of featuring an expert discuss the field subject, we are given an entertainer who tries to spark interest for viewers to seek learning more themselves.

The first two episodes focus on sneakers and ice cream. Both are everyday objects we take for granted without giving a second thought. But Jeff Goldblum takes us on a journey to learn the fascinating history and science of these objects in his unique way! Seeing things from his point of view helps in understanding the subject. He learns something new and shares with viewers to make it feel like a shared experience. Goldblum often shares some of his childhood memories and personal experiences. This might interest his fans, but the show leaves you wanting to hear more about the actual subject. My only criticism is that I wish the shows were longer. There’s more to learn on each topic and 30 minutes limits the amount of material to cover.

“The World According to Jeff Goldblum” is entertaining and serves as a great addition to the Disney+ library of shows to watch. It’s amusing and Jeff Goldblum gets viewers engaged in learning something new. It’s worth watching if you’re seeking new documentaries to check out.

‘The Rock’ Sings ‘Moana’ To a Child Fighting For His Life

The Rock sings Moana to child battling cancer

Meet this tough little boy from Georgia, three year old Hyrum Harris. According to Good Morning America, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on Oct. 20, 2019, while already living with Down Syndrome, asthma, epilepsy, Chronic Croup, FPIES, as well some GI issues. Hyrum has been hospitalized at Children’s Healthcare in Atlanta at Scottish Rite since his cancer diagnosis.

Through all of this, the one thing Hyrum and the rest of the Harris family can count on is his love for the Disney movie, Moana. That’s where Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, voice of Maui from the movie, enters the story.

'The Rock' Sings 'Moana' To a Child Fighting For His Life

A friend of the Harris family saw how much Hyrum used Moana to cope and the pure joy that the film brought to him. The friend reached out to Dwayne Johnson‘s team and he responded!

Johnson shared a video of himself with the Harris family as well as on Instagram singing “You’re Welcome,” Hyrum’s favorite song from the movie, Moana. “The Rock” also explains to Hyrum that he has a great love for Maui as well and that people tell him he sounds like him. He also leaves words of encouragement for Hyrum which, I’m sure, touched even more even people than he realizes.

'The Rock' Sings 'Moana' To a Child Fighting For His Life

Although Hyrum cannot communicate thoroughly due to his developmental challenges, his appreciation of the video was apparent. The family friend shared that, “April (Hyrum’s mother) said that Hyrum watched it and every time Dwayne said Hyrum’s name [he] pointed to himself and giggled.” Now, I’m sure that the song “You’re Welcome” has a whole new meaning for Johnson.

Enjoy The Gobbler Poutine For A Limited Time This Holiday Season At Disney Springs

Enjoy The Gobbler Poutine For A Limited Time This Holiday Season At Disney Springs

Disney Springs is celebrating the holidays with fun menu items at several of their food locations. One of these fun and festive dishes is the Gobbler Poutine. This can be found at the Poutine stand right next to the World of Disney store.

The Gobbler Poutine is basically a Thanksgiving twist on traditional poutine. It still has the gravy, cheese curds, and French fries but also includes turkey and cranberry chutney. The gravy was also a thinner gravy than I remembered when I tried the traditional. This dish actually wasn’t too bad. It was super filling and could probably be split between two people.

Enjoy The Gobbler Poutine For A Limited Time This Holiday Season At Disney Springs

This festive holiday dish was $9.99 plus tax which isn’t horrible considered what you get. The serving was pretty decent. I do however miss the old bowls they used to serve their poutine in. I wasn’t a huge fan of the cardboard dish. It was pretty flimsy. I also felt like you got more food in the larger white bowls.

While this dish wouldn’t be my top choice again it did taste good and was nice and quick. We got to enjoy this on the way to see the Christmas Tree Trail. Make sure to check out Disney Springs for more of their Disney Springs Holidays with fun treats and entertainment.
