Sesame Street Puppeteer Caroll Spinney dies at age 85

Caroll Spinney, the Sesame Street puppeteer who created Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch, has died today at his home in Connecticut. He was 85.

Sesame Street shared a statement on their Facebook page:

Caroll Spinney, the legendary puppeteer behind beloved Sesame Street characters Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch, died today, December 8th, 2019, at age 85 at his home in Connecticut, after living with Dystonia for some time.

Since 1969, Caroll’s kind and loving view of the world helped shape and define Sesame Street. His enormous talent and outsized heart were perfectly suited to playing the larger-than-life yellow bird who brought joy to countless fans of all ages around the world, and his lovably cantankerous grouch gave us all permission to be cranky once in a while. In these characters, Caroll Spinney gave something truly special to the world. With the deepest admiration, Sesame Workshop is proud to carry his legacy – and his beloved characters – into the future. Our hearts go out to his beloved wife, Debra, and all of his children and grandchildren. We will miss him dearly.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Haunted Mansion At Disneyland Will Close For A Lengthy Refurbishment

Haunted Mansion At Disneyland Will Close For A Lengthy Refurbishment

At Disneyland this holiday season, a fan favorite made its 19th season return to the park. A holiday overlay of the Haunted Mansion features many beloved characters from the feature, The Nightmare Before Christmas. This overlay runs from the Halloween season well into the New Year. Then, the attraction returns to its original ghostly state. However, this 2020, the attraction will undergo a lengthy refurbishment.

Haunted Mansion At Disneyland Will Close For A Lengthy Refurbishment

Starting on January 21st, the Haunted Mansion’s holiday overlay will be removed and the renovation will begin. This is one of three major attraction renovations happening at Disneyland Park. Indiana Jones and Snow White’s Scary Adventure will also be getting makeovers in 2020.

As for the Haunted Mansion, the famed attraction will return in the spring time. Both the interior and exterior of the attraction will be freshened up while mechanics of the attraction will be updated. Typically to return the attraction to its original state takes cast members about 2 weeks. With this larger renovation, the Haunted Mansion is expected to open in either late March or April.

We can’t wait to see this and other attractions looking refreshed and ready for spring time at the parks!

Which one of these renovated attractions are you looking forward to seeing? Let us know in the comments!

Weezer and Kristen Bell Recreate Lost in the Woods from Frozen 2

Frozen 2 was released in theaters this moth and it seems like everyone has Frozen fever all over again! The new film debuted some awesome music with covers from Panic! At the Disco and Weezer. The band even took it a step further to recreate a famous scene from the film with a pretty familiar face in their new music video.

Weezer and Kristen Bell Recreate Lost in the Woods from Frozen 2

Weezer recorded an amazing cover of the film’s song “Lost in the Woods“. The song is originally sang by Jonathon Groff who voices Kristoff. In the film, Kristoff belts this ballad as he pines for Anna and it is epic!

Now, Weezer has recreated this fan favorite scene in a music video. They couldn’t do it alone, so they had the help of Kristen Bell, who voices Anna. With lead singer, Rivers Cuomo, dressed as Kristoff and Kristen Bell in true Anna garb, it mirrors the original almost exactly (minus a few reindeer). We have to say, we don’t know which version we like more!

Take a look at the video below and decide for yourself!

Disney+ Marvel Shows Starting Production in 2020

Disney+ Marvel Shows Starting Production in 2020

We announced recently that Disney+ will be getting some original Marvel shows as the Marvel Universe expands. Thanks to a comment made by studio head Kevin Feige, we might be getting those shows sooner than we thought!

During the Marvel Studios panel at CCXP19 Saturday afternoon, Feige revealed that ‘Moon Knight’, ‘Ms. Marvel’, and ‘She Hulk’ will be ready for Disney+ “towards the end of next year”.

We aren’t quite sure what Feige means by “ready” though. If he means completely produced, the teams on the shows are working on a crazy pace and would presumably have to start filming by late spring to even consider a fall (or early winter) 2020 premiere date.

If we take his words literally and all three shows will be written and produced within 2020, the shows would have to take a similar approach to broadcast production, where photography begins as the season is still being written. Each of the shows could be completely in the can by Fall 2020, should it follow a more traditional production schedule, under the assumption the show currently has scripts being developed.

He also could’ve meant that the shows would be completely written and ready for production by the end of 2020. With traditional television shows, it’s not uncommon for a script to take two weeks, give or take a few days, to be put together. If that’s the case for these three shows, it’d take 12 to 14 weeks to script the six to eight-episode season of each. Using those numbers and assuming the drafting of the scripts start right away January 1st, it’d be reasonable to expect the scripts to be done by the middle of April.

That would all but guarantee those three shows receiving release dates in 2021 at the latest. If that ends up being the case, then we will get a total of seven shows from Marvel Studios on Disney+ within the calendar year!

‘Moon Knight’, ‘Ms. Marvel’, and ‘She-Hulk’ have yet to get release dates. Other upcoming Marvel Studios shows on Disney+ include ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ in Fall 2020, ‘WandaVision’ in Spring 2021, ‘Loki’ in Spring 2021, ‘What If…?’ in Summer 2021, and ‘Hawkeye’ in Fall 2021.

What Marvel show are you most excited to see on Disney+?

Fan's Tattoo of Baby Yoda New Internet Sensation

As we all know Baby Yoda is taking the internet by storm!  It is no surprise everyone wants something to remember the child by, especially a tattoo of Baby Yoda!  Some fans are going the less permanent route such as merchandise, others are turning to permanent works of art!

Take this fan’s artwork for instance featuring Baby Yoda.  Perfectly captioned, “Ain’t no laws when baby Yoda drinking claws”, this tattoo sums up 2019.  The artwork features Baby Yoda drinking White Claw, an alcoholic hard seltzer, which has also taken the world by storm, reportedly outselling Budweiser!

Brock McLaughlin isn’t the only fan showcasing their love for the tiny child.  Another Baby Yoda tattoo popped up on Instagram.  The Outer Limits Tattoo Long Beach company also showcased their amazing character work.

Their work features baby Yoda using his power during an emotional scene in one of the episodes of The Mandalorian series on Disney+.  The details in this tattoo are amazing!

Do you have any of the character artwork or are you planning to showcase your love by getting one?  What do you think of these two pieces of artwork?

Riviera resort bar Riva and la Petit cafe

Disney’s Riviera Resort is officially only nine days away from opening and we couldn’t be more excited about it! Yesterday, we took you along as Good Morning America gave viewers a sneak peek of Breakfast a la Arte with Mickey and friends. Looking for a frozen cocktail so that you can lounge by the pool all day? Bar Riva is the place for you! It is an open-air pool bar with cocktails and a couple of light refreshments and is about $15-34 per person (depending on how much fun you want to have).

There is an extensive list of frozen and regular cocktails and has every type of flavor you can imagine. Though there isn’t an actual menu listed, the Walt Disney World website does state that there are sandwiches, salads, and burgers available.
