‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker‘ Shatters Ticket Pre-Sale Record. A story that started a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away is now coming to an epic and spectacular conclusion.
Over 40-years ago George Lucas and the folks at Lucasfilm brought us Star Wars: A New Hope. Now, in 2019, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will bring this cinematic saga to a close. Yesterday, October 21st, Disney and Lucasfilm released the final trailer for The Rise of Skywalker and as is tradition in the new age of film, tickets for the film became available for pre-sale.
For the lucky few who were paying attention, tickets became available shortly before the start of the NFL Monday Night Football game between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets, which premiered the final trailer for The Rise of Skywalker during their halftime programing.
Before the trailer even premiered Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker had already surpassed the world record for ticket pre-sales, dethroning Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame by a whopping 45% in the first hour!
Slashfilm shared the news and the hope for a record breaking earning for Disney and Lucasfilm when The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters December 20th.
“This bodes well for the box office performance of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, as Endgame would go on to rake in $2.79 billion globally, dethroning Avatar as the highest-grossing film of all time (unadjusted for inflation). According to Atom Tickets, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the most anticipated movie this fall, which points to a sky-high box office haul when the film hits theaters this December.”
The film stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong’o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, with Ian McDiarmid and Billy Dee Williams.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams and Michelle Rejwan. Callum Greene, Tommy Gormley and Jason McGatlin serve as executive producers. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was written by J.J. Abrams & Chris Terrio.
Disney and Lucasfilm also shared an all new poster showcasing the cast of Star Wars: Episode IX, causing an even bigger reaction by fans online who are nearly besides themselves with excitement (Present party included!)
