‘The Lion King’ Roars Past $1 Billion in the Global Box Office

The Lion King‘ Roars Past $1 Billion in the Global Box Office. The Lion King is the fifth film of 2019 to pass $1 billion at the global box office and 2019 is proving that Disney reigns in theaters.

Having become the 41st film to ever surpass $1 billion in the box office, The Lion King is Disney’s formal 4th film in 2019 to join the club, but is the 5th film associated with the studio this year to reach this level of success. Other “Billionaire Club” members of 2019 include: Marvel’s Captain Marvel ($1.1 B), Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame ($2.8 B), Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man: Far From Home ($1 B), and Disney’s live-action Aladdin ($1 B).

Disney is no where close to being done in theaters this year, and still has the premieres of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (October 18), Frozen 2 (November 22) and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (December 20) which are predicted to be some of the highest grossing films of 2019.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Disney’s The Lion King (2019) on this major accomplishment!
