Virtual Ride Queue for Star Wars Rise of the Resistance

Virtual Ride Queue for Star Wars Rise of the Resistance

The newest attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, has received an outstanding response from guests! As more and more guests ride the attraction, Disney is testing out new ideas to make the overall experience even better. Right now, there is a virtual queue in the form of boarding groups for guests wanting to ride Rise of the Resistance.

Here’s what to know:

  • The virtual queue will be available at the published park opening time. Guests may be welcomed onto Hollywood Boulevard prior to the opening the rest of the park, and limited nearby locations will be open for your convenience. This includes Trolley Car Café where you can pick up a beverage for your own personal “jump to lightspeed,” and if you need to grab a few galactic gifts, Keystone Clothiers will be available.
  • At the park’s published opening time, the virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opens along with offerings throughout the rest of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests must be in Disney’s Hollywood Studios to access virtual queue in the My Disney Experience app.

Due to the incredible popularity of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, backup boarding groups will continue being distributed after the initially planned groups have been filled. Backup boarding groups will only be called if all of the initially planned boarding groups have been called back and there is capacity for more riders that evening. If more boarding groups are able to be accommodated that evening, guests will be notified through the My Disney Experience app by a push notification (if enabled).

If you’re needing some ideas of what to do while waiting for your turn to join the cause and fight the First Order, take a look at some recommendations below:

10,000 Deployed U.S. Troops Set to See Free Showings of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker‘. The Exchange and The Walt Disney Studios have a tradition of bringing big movies to deployed troops during the holidays and this year is no exception.

“Since 2012, the Exchange has forged a partnership with The Walt Disney Studios to bring first-run movies to our Nation’s heroes,” said Exchange Director/CEO Tom Shull. “Bringing a blockbuster movie like ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ to deployed troops during the holidays is a big morale boost. These service members are away from family and friends during this special time of year—and seeing a big release at the same time it’s being shown back home strengthens their connection with family and friends and eases the tensions of deployment.”

Thanks to the partnership between Disney and the Army & Air Force Exchange Service, service members in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, and undisclosed locations in Southwest Asia will be able to see various showings of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, in several undisclosed locations during their deployment. An estimated 10,000 troops are expected to be in attendance at the showings running from Dec. 18th through Jan 5th.

“It’s a privilege to do something special for these brave men and women,” said Ken Caldwell, Executive Vice President and General Sales Manager for North American Sales and Distribution at The Walt Disney Studios. “This is our way of thanking our troops for their service.”

Thank you to all our service members around the world!

Disney+ Subscribers Prefer Streaming Disney Classics Over Newer Content

Disney+ Subscribers Prefer Streaming Disney Classics Over Newer Content. Recently, THR hosted a poll for Disney+ users who shared their streaming habits and the results may surprise you.

Most users reported Pixar films and Disney Classics were their most watched titles since the streaming service arrived, followed closely by Marvel and Star Wars content. It also appears The Simpsons is performing well as an individual series, but is running behind compared to other acquired properties by Disney.

THR broke it down even further saying, “Across all ages, 38 percent of Disney+ subscribers said they frequently watched Pixar content, more than Disney classics (37 percent), Star Wars (33 percent), Marvel (32 percent), National Geographic (17 percent), Disney Channel (18 percent), The Simpsons (16 percent) or Disney+ originals (14 percent).”

“Roughly 22 percent of Disney+ subscribers among all age groups say they watch classics the most on the platform, topping those who cite Star Wars (21 percent), Marvel (15 percent), Pixar (14 percent), Disney Channel (9 percent), The Simpsons (5 percent), National Geographic (3 percent) or Disney+ originals like Christmas movie Noelle (2 percent) as their top viewing choice,” THR found during their Morning Consult poll.

Disney+ has been a major success and has seen millions of new subscribers join the service since its launch. One major success for Disney+ is being the home of most in-demand streamable show, The Mandalorian. Subscribers have been thrilled to be able to stream childhood favorites that have been locked in the Disney Vault for decades and can now share them with their own families, creating even more magical memories.

What have been some of your favorite titles to stream on Disney+? Have you been streaming Disney Classics? Or do you prefer streaming other titles from Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney Channel? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Disney+

This Santa Hat Mickey Brownie Is Full Of Christmas Cheer

This Santa Hat Mickey Brownie Is Full Of Christmas Cheer

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! At least the snacks at Walt Disney World are. The weather was warm yesterday but we still got in a festive mood with the latest treat to hit the parks. This one is the White-Chocolate Cranberry Mousse Brownie.

This Santa Hat Mickey Brownie Is Full Of Christmas Cheer

This delicious brownie was found at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Starbucks. It’s $5.49 plus tax or a dining plan snack credit.

This adorable Mickey Santa hat treat was really delicious! The cranberry and the chocolate of the brownie complemented each other so well. It was hands down my favorite snack choice this season. The mousse was really light and packed full of flavor. The ears are made of white chocolate. The brownie was covered in bits of sugar to look like snow. The whole dessert was so good.

This Santa Hat Mickey Brownie Is Full Of Christmas Cheer

The only drawback was the size. This White-Chocolate Cranberry Mousse Brownie was so good and I wish it was a little larger. It was a little bit smaller than a cupcake but far richer. It would definitely be one I would get again. The price of $5.49 is on par with almost all treats this size as well so that was a plus.

It would definitely be a snack I would recommend. I’d also love to get this one again. It was fun and festive and enjoyable. Make sure you check this out before the season ends over at Animal Kingdom.

Service Dog Meets Dug at Walt Disney World and Melts Hearts

Henry the Service Dog

A sweet service dog recently discovered that adventure, and happiness, are out there, on his second trip to Walt Disney World. Henry was at Animal Kingdom when he met fellow canine, Dug from Disney’s Up, and immediately lost control of his enthusiasm. It seems the phrase ”I have just met you and I love you” is appropriate for more than one dog to say!

Henry is the trusty service dog of Jessica Paulsen, a Nashville native who keeps Henry’s 111,000 Instagram followers informed of his adventures and tries to educate them about the life of a service dog. Paulsen enjoys Henry’s company as she combats postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, which can cause rapid heart rate and fainting. Henry is two years old and has accompanied Paulsen on two trips to Walt Disney World now; the first trip was in May of 2019.

It was upon meeting Dug this second time (as it appears they met back in May as well) that Henry excitedly nuzzled the costumed Cast Member as well as his coworker who was dressed as Russell, another character from the 2009 film. He was reasonably calm and posed for pictures, but obviously enjoyed his visit very much.

Paulsen shared the encounter with Henry’s Instagram followers and the post reached 19,000 likes as of Tuesday morning. It looks like a lot of people would love to explore the wilderness with a pal like Henry! It’s awfully nice to know that Walt Disney World isn’t just for the child in all of us; it’s for anyone who has a dream, even if that someone is small and furry!

Disneyland Resort Express bus service will cease operation in 2020

Disneyland Resort Express bus service will cease operation in 2020

According to a post on their website, the Disneyland Resort Express service will cease operation in 2020.

Disneyland Resort Express bus service will cease operation in 2020

The buses were run by Coach USA of Southern California. According to an email shared on the Orange County Register the bus service between John Wayne & LAX Airports and the Disneyland Resort Hotels will no longer continue after January 7th, 2020.

The Disneyland website offers ways for guests to get from the airports to Disneyland.

I have never used the bus service as I have always used Uber or Lyft. No word on if this change means Disney will start providing their own service from the local airports to Disneyland like they do at Walt Disney World. To me, it would make sense if they did.
