New Report Claims Netflix Lost Over 1 Million Subscribers After Disney+ Launch

New Report Claims Netflix Lost Over 1 Million Subscribers After Disney+ Launch

New Report Claims Netflix Lost Over 1 Million Subscribers After Disney+ Launch. Previously, it was believed that the launch of Disney+ would have a minimal impact on its competitors, but there may be a decrease in subscriptions for their top competition after all. A new analysis of Netflix‘s subscriber predictions from Cowan & Co. estimates that Netflix could see a decrease of up to 1.6 Million subscribers after the launch of Disney+ and Apple TV+.

Overall, Netflix is not worried about the likely loss, and is still predicted to reach its quarterly increase in subscriptions. Current prediction believe Netflix will have earned 7.6 million subscribers in its 4th quarter, which would put the streaming service at a 6 million increase if the predicted number of subscribers leaves the service by the years end.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings shared his lack of concern by dismissing the details and looking at the big picture. “Fundamentally, there is not a big change here,” Hastings said, adding, “All of us [streaming services] are competing with linear TV and we’re all relatively small to linear TV.”

THR initially reported on the findings by sharing, “Cowen & Co. polled 2,500 U.S. consumers. Of those surveyed, 21 percent said they had signed up for Disney+, indicating that the service had amassed 24 million U.S. subscribers in November. The study also revealed that 19.4 million respondents were dual subscribers, indicating that there was an 80 percent overlap between the services’ customer bases,” THR continued, “Further, per the note, the survey suggested that 5.8 percent of Netflix members canceled their subscriptions after signing up for Disney+. Of the estimated churn, Blackledge wrote, “assuming a portion wouldn’t churned regardless of [Disney+’s] launch; incremental churn appears manageable.”

There’s nothing a little Starbucks and Disney can’t fix!

Epcot has been going through a lot of changes lately and one of them was the demolition of the Fountain View Starbucks to make room for the new plans the park have for 2020 but the good news is that apparently Starbucks has found a new location.

New Starbucks Construction Update At Epcot

Construction work was spotted lately near Refreshment Port at Epcot, what once was thought to be a new restrooms area looks a lot like a Starbucks now.

Todrick Hall Co-Composing New Songs for “Magic Happens” Parade

Todrick Hall Co-Composing New Songs for "Magic Happens" Parade

As recently announced, Todrick Hall will be co-composing new songs for the all-new “Magic Happens” parade debuting at Disneyland park on Feb. 28.  As we previously reported, “Magic Happens” will feature stunning floats, beautiful costumes, beloved Disney characters and an energetic musical score with two original songs co-composed by singer-songwriter Todrick Hall.

Todrick Hall describes his thoughts of co-composing the two new songs and the new parade, “This is such a full-circle moment for me.  I learned how to dance watching the Disney parades, so the fact that I am getting to create the music that these iconic characters will be performing to is kinda the most epic thing that has happened to me in my life.”

Disney lovingly describes “Magic Happens” as a parade that will remind us we don’t need wings to fly, shooting stars were made to wish upon, and magic doesn’t stop at midnight.

Throughout the parade guests will see floats featuring Moana on her voyager wa‘a (or canoe) on the crest of a beautiful wave, inspired by beautiful koa wood carvings inset with LED panels, providing a dazzling glimpse into the magic the ocean holds.  Guests will also celebrate the magic that happens when Miguel strums the guitar of Ernesto de la Cruz, bridging the Land of the Living and the Land of the Dead with vibrant marigolds.

The grand finale of the “Magic Happens” parade celebrates magical moments from classic Disney stories, including the trio of fairies from “Sleeping Beauty” who transform Princess Aurora’s gown from pink to blue and back again!  All led by Mickey and friends.

Coast Guard evacuated a 13-month-old girl from a Disney Fantasy cruise ship

Coast Guard evacuated a 13-month-old girl from a Disney Fantasy cruise ship

Wednesday the Coast Guard medically evacuated a 13-month-old girl from the Disney Fantasy to take her to receive medical attention in San Juan Puerto Rico.

The Disney Fantasy contacted the Coast Guard Wednesday evening and requested medevac assistance for the child. Officials say a 45-foot Response Boat met with the Disney Fantasy and conducted the passenger transfer. The child, her parents, and the cruise ship doctor were transported to San Juan and were met by Emergency Medical Service personnel, who transported the child to the ‘Centro Medico” Hospital.

“We realized this was a time-sensitive case, and that we needed to help this child get to a higher level of medical care as soon as possible,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Carlos A. Garay, Station San Juan 45-foot response boat crewmember for the medevac. “The excellent coordination and collaboration between our boat crew, Sector San Juan watchstanders and the Disney Fantasy as well as the cruise ship’s side ramp technology, allowed for a smooth approach that led to a rapid and safe medevac.  Our crew is very glad to have helped this child and her parents, we wish her a prompt recovery.”

'The Rise of Skywalker' Opening Night Box Office Results Are In

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has done well both domestically and internationally, with global earnings of $59.1 million at the box office, according to Box Office Mojo on Thursday night, $40 million of which was earned domestically.

Current predictions believe The Rise of Skywalker is set to earn upwards of $170 mil to $200 million over the course of the opening weekend. These predictions seem quite low, especially when Star Wars: The Force Awakens earned $247 million and Star Wars: The Last Jedi made$220 million on their respective opening weekends, but with record breaking ticket pre-sales it is likely the film will beat even the loftiest predictions for the holiday weekend release.

Jon Favreau Credits Donald Glover with the Idea to Keep “Baby Yoda” a Secret. During their work together on the live-action of The Lion King, Donald Glover and Jon Favreau had some time to discuss Favreau’s other project, “The Mandalorian.” Favreau always intended to keep the project quiet, but during their various conversations Favreau gives Glover the credit for thinking of the idea to keep “The Child”, aka “Baby Yoda,” a complete secret up until the reveal during the shows premiere on Disney+.

“We were talking about music and pop culture, and he was saying that what people really like now is to be surprised, because it doesn’t happen that much,” Favreau said. “When Beyoncé did an album, she would just put it online and everybody would react to it. Just putting it out there spurred a conversation that would become more viral and bring more genuine attention than any marketing.”

“The way the cat usually gets out of the bag with that stuff is merchandising and toy catalogs and things like that,” Favreau told Entertainment Tonight.

In another interview with ET Jon Favreau thanked Disney for agreeing to keep “The Child” a secret and that their decision to hold off on creating merchandise was key to surprising fans.
