Disney CEO Bob Chapek Shares ‘Black Widow’ Will Only Premiere in Theaters. With the move to Theatrical and Digital releases for movies such as Mulan, Soul, and Raya and the Last Dragon, it makes sense that many fans felt Disney and Marvel Studios would offer the same sentiment towards the highly anticipated Black Widow film starring Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh.
During the last quarterly earnings call, the Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek doubled down on Disney+ Premier Access rumors for the film and shared that the studios still intend for Black Widow to only see a theatrical release, but didn’t confirm that the film will premiere on May 7th (just over one year after it’s initial release date) as currently scheduled.
“Flexibility is something that we’ve been working hard against. Our situation and our conditions change. Just a few weeks ago, theaters in New York and Los Angeles weren’t even open. And now, all of a sudden they’re open, so we’re waiting to see exactly how guests and prospective theatergoers respond to these reopenings. We’re going to remain flexible. We’ll make the call probably at the last minute in terms of how these films come to market — whether it’s Black Widow or any other title … As you know, we’ve had unbelievable success in theaters and we think it’s important to build our franchises. But at the same time, we don’t think it’s the only way to do it. So, we’re gonna remain flexible and see what happens over the next couple months.”
-Bob Chapek

The Venom is the latest movie to be pushed back to a new release date. Instead, Venom: Let There Be Carnage has been pushed back to September 17th, 2021. Sony Pictures made the official announcement earlier this week.
As Universal Pictures moved the release date of Fast And Furious 9, Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios chose to avoid the clash by moving the Venom sequel. With studios trying to find space, without overlapping, to release all the big movies they had to delay in 2020, it’s likely that both this year and next will continue to involve a lot of shifting schedules for blockbusters.
Andy Serkis directs the sequel with Tom Hardy reprising his role as the Spider-Man anti-hero. Michelle Williams is back as well in addition to Woody Harrelson as villain Carnage.

Marvel Studios is currently filming Thor: Love and Thunder in Australia. It’s the fourth installment of the Thor movie franchise. The mighty Avenger is reuniting with many of the other recognizable characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Natalie Portman returns to the movie franchise, plus Star-Lord and Valkyrie return to join Thor’s next adventure.
Chris Hemsworth truly believes in the next Thor sequel and feels the pressure to make sure the film will be a quality experience for viewers.
“There’s that same — if not more — pressure now to do that again. So there’s a little bit of exciting nervous energy that is motivating all of us to reach a little further and make sure we’re covering all bases and approaching the scene from every angle.”

Epcot has been undergoing quite a bit of change lately. Most of the changes are large-scale projects like the exciting Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster and the new Ratatouille ride that was recently announced to be opening on October 1st. Speaking of Ratatouille, the France pavilion has been receiving a lot of updates on its own. Even the smaller areas are receiving their due attention, including one of the Morris columns.

If you’re not sure what column this is, you’ve been missing out on some great selfie backgrounds. There are three Morris columns around Epcot’s France, each with unique artwork and posters decorating it. The one currently hidden by walls is the first one you’ll notice after crossing the bridge from the UK into France. The walls are hiding some refurbishing work, starting with the ground surrounding the column.Â

Morris columns are common in places like France and Germany, their cylindrical shape is perfect for hosting advertisements all around. Sometime in the mid-1800s, they were popularized to restrain wild posting. This way, walls and fences could remain clear of posters from local theatre and entertainment groups that were experiencing a surge, as well as other businesses who wanted to increase their foot traffic. In Epcot, it is simply part of the beautiful atmosphere.

Disney Cruise Line previously announced a new project to add a second private island to their destinations. Lighthouse Point in Eleuthera will complement Castaway Cay, giving families the opportunity to enjoy the site’s beautiful beaches and explore nature, as well as enjoy the broader tourism offerings in Eleuthera.

Disney Cruise Line is hoping to begin work on this project this year. DCL’s vice-president of public affairs, Kim Prunty, told Bahamian media that Disney will deliver 120 construction jobs – some 80 percent of which will be Bahamian – for a cruise destination whose build-out will be complete by the first half of 2024.
Disney also released a 550-page Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) detailing the project’s economic impact. Once that is approved along with the Environmental Management Plan (EMP), Disney is hopeful work can start this year and be completed in 2024. “Assuming we’re able to receive government acceptance of the EIA and Environmental Management Plan (EMP) this year, and get through the consultation and permitting with the Ministry of Works, we’d like to begin work this year with completion in the first half of 2024,” said Prunty.

Prunty also shared that Disney plans on having a ship in port at Lighthouse Point three to five days a week. The number of guests on Disney Cruise Line ships will range from 11,400 to 26,600 per week, depending on the season. Guests visiting Lighthouse Point will be contained in designated areas within the project site and not allowed access to sensitive areas or allowed to roam freely from paths and guest areas.

Around 25 percent of the Lighthouse Point property, some 190 acres, is being donated to the Government and Bahamian people, meaning they will have more land than Disney will develop, with the majority left untouched.
