The Disney World Refurbishment Calendar is showing that it is not set to open now till May 1st.

Many Disney Addicts were hopeful that it would reopen on April 4th but it looks like the joke is on us. The PeopleMover has been closed since earlier this year but guests can sometimes see the trams moving so they were hopeful for an Easter Weekend reopening.

We are unsure what is going on with this fan-favorite Magic Kingdom attraction. Maybe we will see a soft reopening sometime in April like Animal Kingdom’s Kali River Rapids???

EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival Begins July 15!

We have exciting news to share this morning. The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will begin on July 15th at Walt Disney World Resort!

EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival Begins July 15!

This year’s event will kick off with Global Marketplaces, including the return of many favorites – Canada, Greece, Germany, Hops and Barley, Appleseed Orchard and others. Even more marketplaces will join the international smorgasbord as the festival continues on into the fall before wrapping on Nov. 20.

There will be lots of ways for families to enjoy this year’s event:

Sample all sorts of delicious cheeses served in fun ways as part of Emile’s Fromage Montage – if you collect a stamp from five different Global Marketplaces, you’ll earn a prize!
Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak will send you on a savory scavenger hunt in search of Remy statuettes hidden all over the park.
Take a tasty souvenir home from the new merchandise collections, including a festival collection featuring a spirit jersey, baseball cap and so much more.
Listen to musical favorites performed by Voices of Liberty, Mariachi Cobre and the Jammin’ Chefs.

In case you forgot the Epcot’s Taste of Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival is running until July 5th and just 10 days later EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival starts up. It should be noted that for this year Disney removed the “Taste of” from the title so we are hoping this is a full-blown Food & Wine Festival like in years past!

Kali River Rapids is now open in Disney's Animal Kingdom

The fan-favorite for cooling off in the Animal Kingdom, Kali River Rapids is now open after being closed since January of 2021.

Kali River Rapids soft-opened on Monday and while still showing Under Refurbishment until April 2nd on the Disney World Website and no wait times listed on the My Disney Experience App, guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are reporting it is now open.

With the hot temperatures the past couple days Kali River Rapids is a great way to cool off and many fans appreciated Disney soft opening this attraction early.

Like before, Cast Members are still social distancing riders by leaving an empty seat between parties.

Please note that while the official opening is next Monday there is still a chance it could go back down, typically I would say check the Disney World App but even that isn’t working so if you are in Disney’s Animal Kingdom you are just gonna have to swing by to see if it is open.

Disney to pay cast members for receiving Covid-19 vaccine

According to a local union, Disney will be paying certain Walt Disney World Cast Members to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Unite Here! Local 362 posted to Facebook that Disney will pay Cast Members 4 hours worth of pay for getting the vaccine.

The Facebook post reads:

“It’s time for Our Shot!
Disney is paying four (4) hours for getting the vaccine! More information on how to access this benefit will be shared later this week.
Stay safe, and stay strong!”

The union represents attractions and custodial Cast Members, amongst others. Their press release mentions dates of January 1st, 2021 thru September 30, 2021, meaning Cast Members who have already been vaccinated should also be eligible for the additional pay.

Black Adam takes over Time Square

The highly anticipated Black Adam movie will arrive on July 29, 2022. Dwayne Johnson plays the main lead. Black Adam is a DC Comics character who’s walked the line between being a hero and villain. So, it’ll be quite interesting to see how his live action version will compare for audiences.

It’s certainly looking like 2022 will be a big year for DC Comics movies. They currently have plans for Batman, Flash, and Aquaman to have live action roles in 2022 as well.

Also, the movie will feature the big-screen debut of the Justice Society. The team is DC’s precursor to the Justice League that takes a familial and multi-generational approach to heroics. Already suited up are Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.

Black Adam is the second New Line/DC film following 2019’s critical and commercial hit Shazam! with the two characters, Shazam and Black Adam, being arch rivals in the DC Universe. The project is headed towards an April start of production in Atlanta.

Hilary Duff & Matthew Koma welcome newest addition to their family

The Disney Channel star Hilary Duff is officially a mom of three. The actress gave birth to her second child with her husband Matthew Koma. The baby girl was officially born on March 24 and Duff announced her child’s birth on Instagram on Saturday. Duff and Koma have named their child Mae James Bair; the actress shared a black-and-white photo of her family of five at Mae’s birth.

Duff frequently showcases her family on social media and just recently published a book, “My Little Brave Girl,” which she says was inspired by her experiences as a mother.

“I hope this book inspires girls to lead with their heart and know how special their mind is, and helps parents not feel so alone when dealing with the bittersweet taste of letting your child grow,” she wrote.

The Jedi Master Returns!

“Obi-Wan Kenobi,” the new Disney+ series starring Ewan McGregor as the Jedi Master, will begin shooting in April. The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” for timeline. It’s after Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” is directed by Deborah Chow, director of two critically acclaimed episodes of “The Mandalorian,” Season 1.

The series also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader.

Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

The Kenobi limited series has been through many delays and hurtles since its inception. In the beginning the series was actually meant to be a new Star Wars film following Obi-Wan Kenobi as he looks after a young Luke Skywalker, albeit from a distance, to make sure he is not found by Darth Vader or the Empire on Tatooine. Kennedy has shared previously that the initial storyline for Kenobi too closely followed the themes of The Mandalorian, so she ordered a rewrite for the series.

California moves into the Orange tier now Disneyland can open to more guests!

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are scheduled to reopen on April 30, 2021. When reopening guidelines were first released, the parks were going to open to 15% capacity and no indoor dining. Now, the parks have moved into the next less-restrictive COVID risk tier and can open with a higher capacity!

Tomorrow, Orange County California can move into the Orange-Moderate COVID risk tier. This means retail stores won’t need to limit how many shoppers come in, churches and other worship centers can expand to 50% capacity, movie theaters, museums and restaurants can also operate at 50% indoors, and bars will be able to serve patrons outside.

So what does this mean for Disneyland? The parks can reopen with a larger capacity and indoor dining will be allowed!

Orange – Moderate – Tier 3

Parks must limit visitors to a maximum of 25% capacity.
Indoor capacity limited to a maximum of 25%
Indoor dining limited to a maximum of 25% capacity

Disney has not made any official announcement regarding what capacity the parks will operate at when they reopen. Moving into the Orange tier is a good sign that COVID cases are going down and businesses are starting to get back to more normal operations.

Face masks and physical distancing will still be required when Disneyland reopens and the parks will only be open to California residents at first. Will you be one of the lucky ones that gets to visit Disneyland when it reopens?

Ever wondered how to build a Mickey Mouse Flower Bed? Have a few hours available this spring? Need to show the world how much you love Disney and want to express it in your garden? Missing Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival?

Remodelaholic has plans for just such a person. This cute, Mickey Mouse head-shaped garden, would look amazing in anyone’s front yard. 12 feet tall by 10 feet wide would display your flowers beautifully. The DIY flower planter is easy to build with the plans that we have linked for you below.

Below you can see with the right choice of flowers this will be distinct and eye-catching. With this much space, it was recommended to try a butterfly garden or bee attractors. Black-Eyed Susan, California Poppy, Marigolds, Pansy, and Peony all would work well.

Remodelaholic posted a Youtube video to go along with the plans so you can see how easy this would be to install. Those of you with green thumbs might want to take a crack at building this. Those of us without, will gladly read your reviews on how easy this was and enjoy some pictures.

Is the PeopleMover reopening this weekend?

The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover in Magic Kingdom has been closed since the parks closed early last year. The attraction is listed as closed for refurbishment and the reopening date has been pushed back multiple times.

Now, the attraction might be opening this Sunday, April 4th! The Disney World calendar no longer lists the PeopleMover as closed for refurbishment starting Sunday.

We are trying not to get our hopes up, however. The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover attraction page on the Disney World website does not show hours for this Sunday.

We will keep you updated on the attraction’s status!
