Dollywood’s Summer Celebration opens with an exclusive INTEL® drone light show on June 25th. Also, New shows, drone performances, and more highlight summer at Pigeon Forge park. This year looks to be another amazing Summer in the Smokies. We have all the details for you.
Summer in the Smokies is about to get a little bit sweeter and a little more special, thanks to Dollywood’s Summer Celebration which takes place June 25-July 31. Guests visiting during the event can experience the new Sweet Summer Nights as well as new show offerings from the park’s award-winning entertainment team.
Dollywood’s Sweet Summer Nights is a multi-sensory drone light show that creates a symphony of light in the sky above the Pigeon Forge park. Intel Drone Light Shows plans to launch hundreds of drones each evening for a spectacular nighttime experience representing a true evolution in traditional theme park entertainment. The sensational show uses up to 400 drones to animate the spectacular Dollywood-exclusive story. The drone performance is integrated into a musically choreographed fireworks show, creating a visual and audial event of epic proportions.
As part of the Sweet Summer Nights experience, a DJ and energetic dancers bring fun to the streets of Wildwood Grove during two dance parties that ensure every member of the family is on their feet. As the party nears its finale, the celebration takes to the sky as the drone’s launch into the air for an unforgettable end to the evening.
New Shows –
Dollywood’s entertainment team already has debuted several new shows this season, and the trend continues with two new shows that guests are sure to enjoy. Good Vibes begins June 25 at the Back Porch Theater and treats guests to a musical journey through the rhythms of classic and contemporary tunes. It’s about celebrating positivity, counting blessings, and simply enjoying life and happiness.
The Valley Theater is now home to Forever Country. An energetic look at the changing landscape of country music in the late 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. Guests can expect to hear popular hits from artists like Garth Brooks and Shania Twain. As well as a nod to several popular dance songs, including Dolly’s “Romeo” and Brooks and Dunn’s “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.”
It’s storytime again as Imagination Playhouse showcases three favorite books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Including “Coat of Many Colors,” based on Parton’s song and children’s book of the same name. “Coat of Many Colors” and “Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon” feature sing-along songs that kids of all ages will enjoy. Everyone’s favorite, “The Little Engine That Could,” also comes to the stage. Along with a delightful reminder of what can happen with just a little bit of determination. Thanks to Penguin Books. Guests can enjoy several decorative and interactive photo opportunities for children and their families in the lobby of the theater prior to each show.
Concerts –
A group of special entertainment guests returns to Dollywood this summer. In addition, when the park hosts the Tennessee Air National Guard’s Band of the South (concert band), Blue Groove (jazz band), and Full Throttle (rock group) on Saturday, July 3, and Sunday, July 4. The groups perform at DP’s Celebrity Theater and Show street Palace Theater. Inspire patriotism by fostering a deep appreciation of the rich history and legacy of the Air Force. One of the group’s missions is to increase the public’s understanding of the importance of airpower. The missions and programs of the Air Force and Air National Guard, and the bravery, sacrifice, and dedication of Airmen across the globe.

More good news for Disney World fans! The Haunted Mansion is now utilizing the pre-show entertainment and outdoor queue again.
For instance, the outdoor queue is now interactive for guests who like to enjoy the playful spirits who haunt the area. You can walk past the busts of the Dread family and crypts playing the music of gleeful ghosts.
Also, you can see our video clip below of the stretching room. After months of having no pre-show entertainment, it’s great to see the Haunted Mansion back to it’s full glory!
Have you ever heard of the Kitchen Sink Sundae at Walt Disney World?
If you haven’t, this sundae is a massive treat featuring ice cream, cake, cookies, brownies, sprinkles, marshmallows and more and is literally served in a kitchen sink. Guests have been going to Beaches and Cream for many years now to take on the challenge to finish this delicious but extremely sweet treat.
It’s definitely a fun experience, when they bring it to your table, an alarm goes off announcing you order it so you better finish it! The Kitchen Sink is meant to share between four people but can share it with more people if you want or take on the challenge by yourself.
But if you are not planning to visit Disney World anytime soon and would like to recreate this sundae at home to share with your friends and family, then just follow this recipe from Delish and have fun!
KITCHEN SINKSUNDAE
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup of warm fudge topping
1/2 cup of warm butterscotch topping
1/2 cup of warm peanut butter topping
1 medium banana, sliced in 1/2″ slices
1 cinnamon spice cupcake, quartered
1 angel food cupcake, quartered
2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
2 scoops of chocolate ice cream
2 scoops of strawberry ice cream
1 scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream
1 scoop of coffee ice cream
3 tbsp of chocolate syrup
1/4 cup of marshmallow creme
1/4 cup of strawberry topping
1/4 cup of pineapple topping
1 tbsp (14 oz) can of whipped topping
1 tbsp of brownie, quartered
1 tbsp of full size candy bar, quartered
4 tbsp of chocolate sandwich cookies, plus 1 tbsp crushed
1 tbsp of sliced toasted almonds
1 tbsp of dark chocolate shavings
1 tbsp of white chocolate shavings
1 tbsp of chopped jellied orange slices (2 large slices)
First Ice Cream: Pour warm fudge, butterscotch, and peanut butter toppings into the bottom of a very large bowl. Layer banana slices and cake pieces over toppings. Top with all ice creams.
Add Toppings: As quickly as possible, spoon chocolate syrup, marshmallow creme, strawberry and pineapple toppings over ice cream. Cover completely with whipped topping. Tuck brownie pieces, candy bar pieces, and cookies in whipped topping.
Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with toasted almonds, dark and white chocolate shavings, crushes cookies, jellied orange slices, milk chocolate chip morsels, peanut butter morsels, chocolate sprinkles, and rainbow sprinkles. Top with cherries.

WHAT’S CHURNING IN DISNEY SPRINGS
Fans of the brand can indulge in an everchanging menu of its small batch, hand-churned ice cream as the company creates unique menus in each city that change every four to six weeks. The curiously delicious flavors that will be available at Salt & Straw’s Disney Springs location include all-time favorites like Honey Lavender and Chocolate Gooey Brownie, alongside unique flavor collaborations specific to its Florida locations including The Salty Donut Guava & Cheese and Panther Coffee Chocolate Tres Leches.
To create a warm and welcoming destination for their Disney Springs scoop shop, the Salt & Straw team enlists longtime partner, Osmose Design. Visitors and locals alike can indulge in the magic and wonder of Salt & Straw’s unique flavors while connecting with one another. The Portland based design team is led by principal and owner, Andee Hess, who has envisioned all 26 Salt & Straw locations throughout the country.
“As hugeWaltDisney World fans, we were inspired to go really BIGwith an exteriorfacadethat screams ice cream and makes sure we show the world how excited Salt & Straw is to be here. The results will be an epically inviting and tantalizing exciting shop that evokes crafted deliciousness,” shares Hess.
Two more Disney Vacation Club Resorts at Walt Disney World are undergoing refurbishments starting next week. Disney’s Old Key West Resort’s lobby will receive an update while Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will be updating its lobby and porte-cochere.
The refurbishment for the lobby at Disney’s Old Key West Resort begins on June 28. The refurbishment will update the guest check-in experience.
The first phase of the update will allow guests to check in as normal in the main lobby while the den is closed. During the second phase, the lobby will be closed and front desk and concierge will be temporarily moved to the den.
When the refurb is finished, the lobby will feature an open, free-flowing layout with a variety of smaller counters to help Guests of all ages prepare for their Walt Disney World vacation.
The refurbishment at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will also begin on June 28. This refurbishment will have multiple phases.
The first phase will have the connecting hallway to the main lobby closed. Guests will still have access to The Artist’s Palette and the restrooms.
Phase two will start on July 12 and last through late September. During this phase the porte-cochere will be closed. Disney’s Magical Express will still pick-up and drop-off guests here but there will be a temporary walkway for guests to reach the front desk.
Phase three in early August will have the main lobby close and the connecting hallway reopen. Front desk and concierge services will still be available in the hallway in addition to curbside check-in at the Disney Vacation Club Preview Center.
When the refurb is finished, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will feature an enhanced check-in experience offering an open, free-flowing layout with a variety of smaller counters to help Guests prepare for their vacation.

Disney-Pixar’s ‘Turning Red’ Will Premiere in Theaters “as Normal”. The next big adventure from Disney-Pixar , Turning Red, is currently scheduled to release in theaters on March 11, 2022 and the upcoming film will be the first Pixar movie to premiere in theaters following the COVID-19 Pandemic closures.
Both Disney-Pixar titles Soul and Luca premiered exclusively on Disney+ during the pandemic, Soul on Christmas Day 2020, and Luca on June 18, 2021. With theaters reopening to larger capacities between now and the film’s upcoming premiere, Turning Red will see a “normal” theatrical release.
The movie’s synopsis reads: “A young girl’s devotion to a boy band who uncontrollably poofs into a giant red panda. In Turning Red, Mei Lee is a confident, dorky thirteen-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence.”
John Stamos Shares His Favorite Salad Comes from the Disney Parks! There is no denying the fact that John Stamos is a HUGE Disney Addict just like us, but he recently shared with Yahoo! that there is one food item he has to get on every trip to Walt Disney World… The famous Cobb Salad at The Hollywood Brown Derby in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Stamos raved about the salad, but claims it’s even better from The Hollywood Brown Derby itself, sharing “Last time I was there, they gave me the famous recipe. I made it at home, but it didn’t hold a candle to the real deal and the atmosphere in the Brown Derby.”
For those who are unfamiliar with The Hollywood Brown Derby, the restaurant description by Disney states:

New Baby Giraffe Calf Born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It’s a Boy! Disney Parks Blog just gave us an update that a Masai giraffe calf was born on June 10th, 2021 at Animal Kingdom Park backstage barn. Importantly, the mom, Lily, is doing great and the pair have bonded very quickly. It should be noted that this is the second major announced birth at Animal Kingdom this last 2 months. The other being Dash the newest baby Zebra.
It’s a boy – a big boy! The healthy, long-legged calf towers nearly six feet tall and weighs in at 183 pounds! Born on June 10, he’s playful, curious, and pretty chill, spending lots of time nuzzling with mom, Lily, in a backstage barn. He’s a special guy with a unique butterfly marking over his right shoulder and heart-shaped markings dotting his coat.
The different size and color markings on giraffes camouflage them on the savanna and distinguish the different subspecies. Masai giraffes, seen on Kilimanjaro Safaris, typically have a lacy-edged spot pattern that resembles oak leaves.
A heartfelt congratulations to our devoted animal care team for this latest animal birth at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It marks another success for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan Program that oversees responsible breeding of threatened and endangered species. Giraffes are a vulnerable species facing a silent extinction in the wild, with a population decline of 40 percent over the past 30 years. There are roughly 35,000 Masai giraffes left in the wild, and their population continues to decline due to poaching and habitat destruction.
We are overjoyed to share this video of our new calf with his mom. The pair are doing well and staying close together as they bond. Park guests will be able to see Lily and her adorable calf on Kilimanjaro Safaris in the coming weeks when the pair joins the rest of the herd on the savanna.
‘Beauty and the Beast’ Disney+ Series is “One of the Most Ambitious Projects” of Josh Gad’s Career. Josh Gad has had a fantastic career with Disney so far, and the partnership is truly just getting started! Josh has starred in several movie titles for Disney including Frozen 1 + 2, Beauty and the Beast (2017), Artemis Fowl, and was featured in several guest appearances on Disney television shows such as Sofia the First, Phineas and Ferb, Modern Family, and more. Gad is also set to star in a ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids‘ sequel named Shrunk!, he is producing the ‘Hunchback of Notre Dame’ live-action remake AND working as an executive producer and star in the upcoming ‘Beauty and the Beast‘ Prequel series coming to Disney+.
Recently, Gad spoke with Collider to share an update regarding the new Disney+ Series, sharing:
“I can tell you right now that it is one of the most ambitious projects I’ve ever been a part of. Luke and I are so excited about bringing these characters back to life alongside a brilliant and unique new talent in Briana Middleton playing this incredible new character named Tilly. Liesl Tommy, who’s our director, is planning to do some unbelievably ambitious things with this series as well as our showrunners, Adam [Horowitz] and Eddie [Kitsis], who are really, really, really going places I think audiences are not necessarily ready for. I cannot be more excited about this show. I think it’s going to be enormously special.”
“Beauty and the Beast” is executive produced by Gad, Kitsis, Horowitz, Menken and Tommy and produced by Evans. Gad, Kitsis and Horowitz are co-showrunners and writers for the limited series. Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel has one of the largest collections of MARVEL artwork in the world, with more than 350 items on display, including 50 exclusive and never-before-seen pieces.
More than 110 artists from MARVEL Comics, MARVEL Studios and more have brought together an incredible collection of contemporary art showcasing the vast scope of the MARVEL Universe including comic book covers, posters, illustrations from films, storyboards, original sketches and more. From France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom to Argentina, Japan, Canada and the United States, an unparalleled diversity of artistic styles is featured such as classic back-and-white comics, street art, pop art, hyperrealism and technics, including engraved metal and collage art.
The talented European artists responsible for some of the exclusive artwork include:
French MARVEL artist Olivier Coipel, famous for his work on The Avengers, Thor and Spider-Man, created a powerful representation of Thor: God of Thunder in a comic-book style, using an overlap of vibrant red and blue colors highlighting the duality between the Super Hero’s mythological and human sides and using forced perspective to bring out the action.

Italian designers and twin brothers Van Orton, have created incredible pop art and almost neon-like portraits of Hulk, Captain America, Black Panther and Captain Marvel using bright and vibrant colors.
UK artist Liam Brazier, known for his geometric reinterpretations of iconic characters, created several pieces for the hotel including heroic contemporary portraits of Captain America, Thor and Hulk using saturated and bright colors as well as lines highlighting the dynamism of the Super Heroes’ poses.
Spanish artist Carlos Gomezcreated huge backlit black and white comic panels that greet Guests as they enter the lobby, depicting the exciting and dynamic story of the Avengers uniting in New York City in an inclusive way, to be understandable by everyone even with no dialogue.
Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel also includes a space dedicated to temporary art exhibitions, The Jack Kirby LegacyGallery, that showcases artworks for limited periods. This area also offers a permanent exhibition dedicated to Jack Kirby himself – the “The King of Comics” – with 21 comic book covers drawn by this legend. It is to him that we owe the creation of the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, the Incredible Hulk, the adventures of Thor and the Avengers. Marvel Design Studio, a creative space for families with kids, is the place for every hero to unleash their inner creative genius and learn how to be a MARVEL comic book artist with tutorials to draw many inspiring Super Heroes. In this bright interior space influenced by the MARVEL Animators Bull Pen – where the artists draw, ink and color the comic books – Guests can find fun and appealing MARVEL artworks and little ones can enjoy many MARVEL digital activities on dedicated tablets, read some of their favorite comic books and create their own adventures with MARVEL toys on display.

The hotel completely reimagines sports and leisure experiences for the whole family, building on both the New York and MARVEL storylines.
