Orlando Airport to receive special Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary decorations

The Orlando International Airport will be receiving some new decorations to help celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in the coming weeks.

Here is the news from Disney:

With so much excitement ahead, we want you to feel immersed in the magic as soon as you arrive in Central Florida, which is why a talented group of cast members is hard at work transforming the arrival experience at Orlando International Airport (MCO) with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA).

Coming just in time for the 50th-anniversary celebration this fall, airport passengers will discover many exciting Disney touches, including a wide-spanning art installation in the terminal train stations featuring favorite Disney characters, new magic engaging passengers as they walk through a glistening glow of projected EARidescent light patterns, and an immersive photo opportunity with a re-creation of a Disney ride vehicle to capture special memories as they make their way through the airport.

As part of this special transformation at the airport, we’re excited to also be working with GOAA on a new Magic of Disney store location opening with the South Terminal Complex in 2022.

“Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World share a commitment to the Central Florida community. We proudly recognize the outstanding accomplishment of our longtime partner as they celebrate this impressive 50th Anniversary milestone,” said Phil Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “Collaborating on a commemorative presence at Florida’s busiest airport means we get to be the first moment of celebration for guests flying into Orlando to be part of the spectacular fanfare.”

This is not the first time Disney has advertised something going on at the parks at the Orlando Airport. How many people remember when Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Stormtrooper decorations were up at MCO?

Studded Minnie Ears spotted at Disney Springs. These cute and stylish ears are only missing one thing, and that is a Ramones button! Gabba Gabba Hey! I learned a new fashion term today, apparently, my childhood clothing option is now called Leather Punk. Just give me some Chuck Taylor sneaks and The Clash tee shirt and I am back in the ’90s.

I have also seen these new faux leather studded ears with the chain dangling off one ear described as dominatrix’s ears, or biker-inspired. Either way, it looks great with any dark look, black-wearing fashion. Got an Emo kid who thinks you and life suck? These ears work! Grew up listening to Steppenwolf and now own a Harley? You get a pair! Breaking the Law with Judas Priest in the ’80s? These ears are screaming for you. I digress, think you get the point by now. Kinky Kelly, I am looking at you!

We spotted this pair of Studded Minnie Ears at Disney Springs for $29.99 at World of Disney. We have also heard of them showing up at all the Parks and most Resorts around Walt DIsney World Resorts.

Harry Potter fans, there’s a new outdoor experience set to start in the UK this fall. The Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience is, in fact, a woodland light trail for attendees to walk in the evenings, over at Arley Hall in Cheshire, UK; woodland grounds will be transformed into an illuminated path. You’ll come face to face with some of the well known creatures from the series.

GRAB YOUR WAND

Celebrating some of the most iconic forest scenes from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, visitors can interact with magical characters and cast their own spells, bringing the fantastical world to life. Discover Centaurs, a Hippogriff, and other magical creatures before making a Patronus appear before your eyes!

It’s an evening for the whole family with a trail through a wondrous and beautiful forest that comes to life with the magic of the Wizarding World.

First Look at the Poster for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

Disney’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is set to open sometime in 2022. This new Walt Disney World experience will take guests on an all-immersive adventure in a galaxy far, far away. Today, Disney shared a new promotional poster for the Starcruiser. So far, details about this new experience have been few and far between so let’s take a look at this exciting new poster!

The Halcyon starcruiser, in the upper-left corner, is your home for this two-night adventure. The sleek ship is known for its impeccable service, fabulous entertainment and exquisite dining, all of which you’ll get to enjoy during your vacation. (Side note: You can see a model of the ship right now in Walt Disney Presents at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.)
There are four people at the center of the poster – a youngling wearing Jedi robes and wielding a lightsaber, an adult dressed in the uniform of a First Order officer, a Twi’lek adult, and another youngling who appears to be holding a piece of technology of some sort. These figures are meant to represent you, the travelers, because Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is about your choices and how you live your personal Star Wars stories. Do you want to support the First Order? Live like a Jedi in training? Or perhaps become a member of high galactic society? It’s all waiting there for you to discover and decide.
In front of those central figures is an R-series astromech droid – but one that seems to have a few extra bells and whistles. Hmm … we bet there’s a story there, too.
In the lower left, you see passengers enjoying the remarkable cuisine offered in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, the starcruiser’s enticing supper club. The food and drink certainly seem otherworldly …
The image in the lower right is something we’re incredibly excited for – lightsaber training! That’s right, as part of your experience, you’ll face off with a training remote similar to how Luke Skywalker once did and learn the lightsaber’s ancient ways.
Looming above all this is the intimidating visage of Kylo Ren. Couple him with those First Order stormtroopers charging into the scene on the left-hand side and … we have a bad feeling about this. The Halcyon starcruiser does have a storied past, after all, and a reputation for finding itself in the middle of galactic conflicts. Luckily Chewbacca and his trusty bowcaster are there in the upper-right corner. Remember, it’s not wise to upset a Wookiee!
And don’t miss what’s happening at the very bottom of the poster. There’s something very familiar about those spires – especially to anyone who’s traveled to Batuu. We’ve heard the Halcyon starcruiser is adding that far-flung planet to its itinerary starting next year …

Disney World & Universal Orlando Accident & Injury Report for 2nd quarter of 2021

The theme park accident and injury report for the 2nd quarter of 2021 has been released. Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando both had a few incidences on the report.

At Universal Orlando Resort:

A 59-year-old woman had a headache June 9 after riding Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Universal’s Islands of Adventures.

At Walt Disney World Resort:

A 27-year-old man with a pre-existing condition had a seizure June 29 after riding Avatar Flight of Passage in Disney’s Animal Kingdom
A 66-year-old woman fell and broke her wrist getting out of Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom on April 12.
At Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park, a 43-year-old man broke his ankle stepping into a tube on Teamboat Springs on June 19.

Florida theme parks self-report the most serious injuries to the state. They must report incidents where people are hurt or sick and immediately go to the hospital for at least 24 hours.

The position is full time but you don’t need any previous experience to apply. Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company is looking for someone with an unbeatable positive attitude, as well as a propensity for friendliness and ease of manner. The environment you’ll be working in is fast-paced, and you’ll need to be able to remember multiple orders, customizations, and recipes at once, all while maintaining quality. Bonus points if you already have customer service skills to show off and/or prior experience in food service. The new hires at Joffrey’s will need to demonstrate product knowledge, being able to converse informatively with guests about their unique dietary needs. If you’re hired, you’ll need to be able to keep your workstation clean and well-stocked.

Breaking News: More Disney World 50th Anniversary Park Passes are now available

Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary is October 1, 2021. That is also the day the 50th Anniversary Celebration kicks off across the resort. Park pass reservations have been completely full that day for Magic Kingdom and Epcot but today, Disney opened up more reservations!

All four parks are now showing availability for both guests of select resort hotels, guests with theme park tickets, and Annual Passholders! Not only did October 1st open up more reservations, but the days around that Friday opened up as well. All of October is now available for those guests.

Fireworks are returning to Hollywood Studios this summer. Just announced by Disney is the return of more entertainment this summer. Shows include “Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage” returning August 15th and also, Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor at Magic Kingdom Park on August 8. Now we are happy to announce that The Wonderful World of Animation will return to Hollywood Studios on August 1st, 2021.

Starting August 1, we’ll be lighting up the night at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with the return of “Wonderful World of Animation.” This cinematic nighttime experience leverages projection mapping technology to transform the park’s iconic Chinese Theater on a magical journey through more than 90 years of Disney animation.

Happily Ever After & Epcot Forever will be permanently retired by Disney World's 50th Anniversary

Just moments ago we learned that some of our favorite Disney World Entertainment Offerings would be returning this summer! You can read all about them here.

However, we also have some sad news to report. Happily Ever After and Epcot Forever will be permanently retired by Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.

Here is the news from Disney:

We also recently announced that all-new nighttime spectaculars “Disney Enchantment” and “Harmonious” would be debuting October 1 as part of The World’s Most Magical Celebration. That means this summer is also your last chance to come out and catch the current fireworks shows before they sparkle into Disney history. “EPCOT Forever” will conclude its limited-time run on September 28, and you have until September 29 to take in the spectacle of “Happily Ever After” at Magic Kingdom Park.

We know that Disney Enchantment will be around for a while for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration but we were hopeful that Happily Ever After would make a return once the 50th Anniversary Celebration was over. It looks like that is no longer the case.
