Stage Adaptation of Coco is coming to Broadway

We may soon see Miguel performing on Broadway! During a recent live performance of the Disney on Broadway series at EPCOT, it was announced that Disney is working on a staged version of the animated musical for Broadway.

Before the performance of Broadway alum Mandy Gonzalez, L. Steven Taylor took to the stage to announce that “Coco is now in development at Disney on Broadway to become a live stage show.”

No further dates or projections were announced when the show would debut. Following the news, Mandy Gonzalez sang “Remember Me” from the animated film. Coco will make an outstanding addition to the lineup of productions from Disney on Broadway.

Coco is a 2017 animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios. It follows the story of a 12-year-old boy named Miguel who travels to the Land of the Dead, where he connects with his long-lost grandfather to return the joy of music to his family.

Will Smith to Return to Disney as the Genie in Aladdin 2. The Aladdin live-action movie released in 2019 made over $800 million at the box office. Will Smith starred in the role of Genie that Robin Williams made famous. Now it looks like he may reprise his part, in his first project performance since the Oscar slapping incident with Chris Rock.

Sources are saying “This would be one of the first movies Will has shot since the Oscars slap and it is quite surprising, given that it will be for a kids’ film.” they continue “He has done a lot of work on himself and the consensus is that it will all be very much in the past by the time the movie is released.”

Will Smith to Return to Disney

The script, loosely based on the One Thousand And One Nights series of Middle Eastern folk tales, is being written, with hopes that filming could begin at the end of the year.

Asked last month if he knew what was happening with the film, Mena Massoud said: “There was a change with the writers, and they are working on a new draft. If Aladdin 2 happens, that’s fantastic. It should happen.

“It’s not going to be based off the animated version. This is going to be a new original story.”

Disneyland Monorail Debuts a NEW 100th Anniversary Wrap

The Disneyland Monorail has debuted a new 100th anniversary wrap! The wrap features the sensational six in their new Disney100 outfits.

As part of the Disney 100 Years of Wonder, the Disneyland monorail has a new wrap featuring some of our favorite characters. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy are all wearing their Disney100 outfits on one end of the monorail.

First Look at World of Color ONE

“World of Color ONE” will debut at Disney California Adventure Park during the Disney100 anniversary celebration at the Disneyland Resort. This nighttime spectacular by Disney Live Entertainment tells the powerful story of how a single action – like a drop of water – creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. Paradise Bay is transformed with a dazzling array of fountains, lighting, lasers, fog and flame effects, harmonized with songs and stories of courageous, loving and inspiring characters who dared to be wavemakers and change the world.

Guests will discover that it only takes one action to make an impact on the people in our lives and the world around us, just as one man – Walt Disney – started the wave that has continued to grow and inspire people around the globe for 100 years.

The nighttime spectacular celebrates the storytelling legacy begun by Walt Disney a century ago, bringing to spectacular life moments from favorite films including “Moana,” “Soul,” “Coco,” “Mulan” and others. This is the first Disneyland Resort nighttime spectacular to feature characters, music and stories from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, the Avengers and Star Wars in the same production.
Moments from Star Wars and the Avengers are depicted in a graphic style. The bold, graphic approach to the Avengers portion of the show was inspired by end credit sequences in “Black Panther” and the Disney+ original series “Hawkeye.” The Star Wars segment uses a painterly style based on original production art for the films.
The score is composed of 18 musical compositions, including an original song “Start a Wave,” which was written by GRAMMY^®-nominated artist Cody Fry and features lead vocals performed by singer-songwriter and actress Loren Allred.
The 1,200 fountains in “World of Color – ONE” act as dancers, interpreting the various moments in the show. During the “Born to Play” sequence from Disney and Pixar’s “Soul,” the jazz tune appears to be “played” by the fountains.
The water screen used for digital projections is 380 feet wide, and the geyser fountains are capable of shooting water up to 200 feet in the air.
MagicBand+ interacts with and complements “World of Color – ONE” by glowing with color and pulsing with haptic vibrations.
“World of Color” provides Disney Live Entertainment designers with great flexibility and creativity. Since its debut in 2010, more than half a dozen different versions of the show have been presented on Paradise Bay.

Mickey & Minnie Mouse Statues in Disneyland for Disney100 Celebration

The Disney100 Celebration officially begins on Friday, January 27, at the Disneyland Resort! Decorations have begun popping up around the resort already, however. Some of our favorite decorations are the statues of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Mickey Mouse can be seen in his platinum statue in Town Square on Main Street USA. Underneath him are Walt Disney’s famous words, “It all started with a mouse”.

Minnie Mouse can be seen in her splendor to the right of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Underneath Minnie you’ll see the phrase “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes”.

And in Downtown Disney next to the Star Wars store you’ll find a larger than life platinum statue of the main mouse himself. He stands on a platform with the Disney 100 logo underneath.

runDisney Has Announced Details for the 2024 Coast to Coast Race Challenge

Calling all runDisney fans: get ready to lace up those running shoes for the latest runDisney event, the 2024 Coast to Coast Race Challenge.

runDisney competitors can earn the 2024 Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal by completing any 10-mile (or longer) race at both the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland resort. Runners can complete this via one of two tracks:

Track 1:
- Complete the Half Marathon during the 2024 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend and at least one of:
  - 2024 Walt Disney World Half Marathon
  - 2024 Walt Disney World Marathon
    - Note: runDisney participants who choose this track will receive a special runDisney Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal only available in 2024.
Track 2:
- Complete the Half Marathon during the 2024 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend and any one of the following:
  - Disney Princess Half Marathon or Disney Fairy Tale Challenge
  - runDisney Springtime Surprise 10-Miler or runDisney Springtime Surprise Challenge
  - Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon or Disney Two Course Challenge
    - Note: runDisney participants who choose this track will earn a different, unique runDisney Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal.

Important Information:

Guests will not need to register for the runDisney Coast to Coast Race Challenge as a separate registration.
Both qualifying races must be completed in the same calendar year.
Guests only earn one runDisney Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal per calendar year.
runDisney Coast to Coast Race Challenge medals will be available after crossing the finish line of the second race.
Guests must be 14 years or older to participate.
Please be aware that participation in virtual races does not count towards eligibility for the runDisney Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal.
