For Vinylmation, Disney is releasing some 9-inch and 3-inch figures designed by Disney Design Group artists Ron Cohee, Caley Hicks, Eric Caszatt and Monty Maldovan.

This year, the event will feature two days dedicated to pin trading. On Sunday, the entire day will be dedicated to Vinylmation.

There are separate packages available to attend the pin trading and Vinylmation events. Both events will include gifts, entertainment and first-purchase opportunities for some unique merchandise. Attendees will also be able to trade for pins or Vinylmation created specifically for trading experiences at each event.

There is an early booking discount for the pin trading portion of the event that ends on June 19. We are also offering a separate breakfast and dessert reception for guests attending the pin trading portion of the event.

Our Top 5 Disney World Quick Service Restaurants

Our Top 5 Disney World Quick Service Restaurants

There are two different types of dining at Disney World: table service and quick service. Table service restaurants are dining destinations that offer either buffets or served meals with appetizers, main courses, desserts, and service. Meanwhile, quick service restaurants are set up like cafeterias offering quick, but tasty, menus where you pretty much serve yourself. However, quick service restaurants are not to be underestimated. Disney carries their use of theme, storyline, and design into these dining locations too; and some of the menus at counter service locations are incredibly delicious and a far cry from your standard theme park fare of simply burgers and fries!

1. Sunshine Seasons – This quick service location can be found on the first floor of The Land pavilion at Epcot! Here you can dine right in the middle of all the action taking place in The Land with Soarin’ and Living with the Land right next door! The food at Sunshine Seasons is very unique in comparison to other quick service locations as some of it is actually grown inside The Land pavilion and it is the only place in Epcot’s Future World that serves breakfast! It’s also some of the best quick service food you can find in all of WDW, and a great place for those looking for a healthy meal. Sunshine Seasons offers different stations, each with their own menu.  Some of the selections offered here would be Sweet and Sour Chicken, Rotisserie Chicken, a Flatbread sandwich, Strawberry Shortcake, and Soarin’ inspired Creme Brulee! Also be sure to look above to see four hot air balloons representing each season hanging from the ceiling.

Colin Farrell to Join Cast of ‘Saving Mr. Banks’

Colin Farrell to Join Cast of 'Saving Mr. Banks'

Deadline is reporting that Colin Farrell is in talks to join the cast of Saving Mr. Banks. The movie will tell the story of how Walt Disney spent 14 years trying to convince author P.L Travers to let him adapt her book Mary Poppins into a film. He of course succeeded but she was never happy with the film, especially the animated sequences. Farrell would play Travers father who died when she was seven.

Farrell will join Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as P.L Travers. No word yet on when this film will be released.

New Interactive Mickey Ears Let Guests Light the Night for After-Dark Spectaculars at Disney California Adventure Park

New Interactive Mickey Ears Let Guests Light the Night for After-Dark Spectaculars at Disney California Adventure Park

Guests of the Disneyland Resort will light the night thanks to new Glow with the Show Ear hats that change colors in sync with shows at Disney California Adventure Park.

Starting June 15, fun interactive versions of the famous Mickey Ear hats will incorporate the latest, infra-red trigger technology to engage the audience during “World of Color” and Mad T Party. The Ear hats feature iridescent lights that change to complement the imagery and beat of the shows. When not activated by the shows, more surprises are in store for guests as the magical ears glow with other settings around Disney California Adventure Park.

The Glow with the Show Ear hats add one more layer of fun to the grand reopening of Disney California Adventure Park with the premieres of two, highly anticipated themed lands, Cars Land and Buena Vista Street. These exciting new lands highlight a five-year expansion that has brought more than 20 new attractions, shows and experiences to the Disneyland Resort, along with expansion and renovations at the three Disneyland Resort hotels.

‘Missing: The Complete First Seas’ DVD Review

'Missing: The Complete First Seas' DVD Review

It isn’t very often we get a good action show on television. But this year, ABC treated us with their action/adventure series ‘Missing’, starring Ashley Judd, Cliff Curtis, and Sean Bean. The show follows Rebecca “Becca” Winstone (Judd), who plays a retired CIA agent and widow, who has an 18 year old son named Michael.  When Michael is accepted into a summer program in Rome, Becca doesn’t hear from him for a week, and being an ex CIA agent she gets worried something is wrong. Bent on finding her son, Becca leaves for Rome and gets caught up in an international conspiracy with links to her old life. Now Disney has given us the chance to revisit the series’ ten episodes over and over again here in this ‘Complete First Season’ DVD set.

I really had a lot of fun with ‘Missing’. I was excited to see Ashley Judd, someone I’ve been a fan of for some time, headline her own show. Not to mention it was a show where she was going to get a chance to be an action star. Judd really shines as Becca, really bring the role to life. You can feel the pain and desperation she feels with her son missing, and I really believed she would go to the ends of the earth to save him. She actually turned out to be a pretty good TV action star, and she has some great action scenes throughout the series. But Judd isn’t the only one person in the show who gets a chance to shine. I was very impressed with Cliff Curtis, a character actor I’ve been watching for years now, who plays CIA Agent Dax Miller, who is hot on Becca’s trail. He’s just fantastic as Dax, and I would love to see him continue getting roles like this to really stand out in. My only minor gripe with the series is that it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but the series wasn’t picked up so it’s a bit frustrating that the loose ends won’t be resolved. But it doesn’t detract from the rest of the series, so it’s something I can easily overlook.

Disney California Adventure Park Reopens with New Fun and Attractions

Disney California Adventure Park Reopens with New Fun and Attractions

In a colorful grand reopening ceremony hosted by Bob Iger, chairman and chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company, along with his pal Mickey Mouse, Disney California Adventure Park welcomed guests Friday to the premieres of two highly anticipated themed lands, Cars Land and Buena Vista Street, home to the Carthay Circle Theatre. The ceremony celebrated more than 20 new attractions and shows that have been added to the Disneyland Resort during a five-year expansion.

The ceremony was held in Disney California Adventure in front of the iconic Carthay Circle Theatre on the new Buena Vista Street, which transports guests to the California that attracted Walt Disney in his early days as an animation pioneer. Ceremony highlights included music, fireworks and a flood of Disney and Disney•Pixar characters, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto and Donald Duck.

“Today as we celebrate the reopening of Disney California Adventure, we mark a defining moment in the history of the Disneyland Resort,” Iger said. “Cars Land and Buena Vista Street are the spectacular finale to our five-year transformation of this park, which now stands proudly on its own as a worthy neighbor to Disneyland.”

Long-lasting Souvenirs: Disney Theme Park Soundtracks

Long-lasting Souvenirs: Disney Theme Park Soundtracks

Disney Theme Park Soundtrack CD’s have become my favorite souvenirs!  They are well worth the price you pay, because they last quite a long time!  The majority of my CD’s were purchased back in 2005 and 2006 and they are still going strong!  Disney is currently selling a CD called Four Parks, One World which includes 37 songs and soundtracks from all 4 Disney theme parks.  Disney also offers the Soundtracks to Fantasmic, Wishes, Main Street Electrical Parade and Illuminations just to name a few.  Many of Disney’s soundtracks from shows, parades and attractions are on CD.  These CD’s are great to listen to in the car or at home when you’re in need of a “Disney fix.”   You can find these CD’s at almost all of the resorts and parks, but the largest CD selection is at World of Disney in Downtown Disney.

T-shirts can fade, antenna toppers can deteriorate, but these Disney soundtracks on CD are very long-lasting!  Next time you’re looking to purchase a souvenir that gives you the most bang for your buck, choose any of the Disney Park CDs!

Walt Disney World Packing Tips

Walt Disney World Packing Tips

I have some time-saving tips I would love to share with you. Whether you are a frequent visitor to “the World” or if you are planning your first magical visit, I hope you will find this information helpful. Up on the top shelf of my closet, I have what I refer to as my Disney Trunk. The contents of this oversized plastic bin have been very important to me over our last eleven years of traveling to Walt Disney World, as it keeps all of our necessities in one place, which makes packing time easy.

I am happy to share with you the list of reusable items I keep inside. Since we are a family of 5, you might guess that there are five of each item inside the box:

Backpacks

We each have a backpack made of lightweight but strong prolypropylene with a drawstring closure and straps. They weigh less than an ounce when empty and are 15” high by 13” wide. Each person carries one loaded with the items below which are needed for a day in the parks.

Whisk Dad away to Downtown Disney, where you can enjoy a specially priced meal and then take a stroll – or play at DisneyQuest, or take in Cirque du Soleil – La Nouba, or watch a movie at AMC Downtown Disney 24. Lots of fun ideas!

For dads who love seafood, splurge at Fulton’s Crab House with a special New England lobster boil with Maine lobster, clams, mussels, red skin potatoes and corn on the cob for $50.

Head to the upstairs Dining Room at Wolfgang Puck Café for a three-course meal that starts with venison sausage with red cabbage and mustard cream and crispy spaetzle, followed by prime New York strip steak with blue cheese potato gratin, Brussels sprouts and a three peppercorn sauce. Dessert is a decadent Maker’s Mark pecan brownie pie with cherry bourbon ice cream. Cost is $43 per person. If you prefer more casual eats, the downstairs Wolfgang Puck Café is offering Cajun jambalaya with Andouille sausage, shrimp and chicken ($19) and a maple pecan brownie with cherry bourbon ice cream ($7).

Portobello also has a three-course dad’s day special, with baby greens and balsamic vinaigrette followed by rack of lamb with garlic whipped potatoes and farmer’s market local veggies, and a divine chocolate paradise cake to finish. Splurge and let dad sip a nice Primo Sangiovese Merlot from Italy ($9.95 a glass). Cost for three courses is $39.95.

Don’t forget the “dinner and a show” offer that’s currently available at Downtown Disney. The deal includes dinner at House of Blues and seating at Cirque du Soleil – La Nouba. The package costs $99 plus tax per guest age 10 and older, and $85 plus tax for guests ages 3-9.

Happy Father’s Day! For reservations, call 407-WDW-DINE.
