Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World Resort recently added a little “character” to its skyline thanks to the arrival of a new Characters in Flight balloon.
The balloon, which is currently being set up for operation, is the second balloon to be featured at Characters in Flight. As you can see above, this balloon features a new red, yellow and blue color scheme, as well as a new set of flying characters: Tinker Bell, Peter Pan, Buzz Lightyear, Dumbo, Jasmine and Aladdin.
Guests will be able to go on board once the balloon completes all its safety inspections, which we are being told will be sometime in the next week.

so I am confused, is this just a hot air ballon that guests can ride up in?

We were in WDW when Characters in Flight closed this pass summer. It was so sad to see it flying one day then, gone. 🙁 I’m very excited to hear that it’s back in action! Not sure how I feel about seeing a new balloon in the sky, but change has always been hard for me. LOL!
I’ve never ridden Characters in Flight, but I’ve always loved seeing it at DTD. I’m so glad guests will be able to go up in it again!
of all the times i’ve been to downtown disney, ive never gone up on the balloon, but now im going to make it a point to next time i go. it was so weird not seeing it there and i want to try it before they take it away again (if that ever happens)
